Poor Design- Beware
I looked over the website for this product, and, having tried other gutter guard products, all with limited success, I decided to give it a try. One thing I did NOT notice was a small caveat buried in the installation "warnings"- if you have a metal roof, you "have" to have something called "ice cleats". In my area (Atl metro) it would be very hard to find someone who even knows what those are. In any event, they would not have helped in this case. After a heavy snow, I noticed that as the snow was thawing on the roof, and re-freezing, it was "grabbing" the material of the Flo-Free and pulling it out of the gutter. This was kind of a last straw, since prior to this, I was cleaning debris off the lip created by the way it is installed, on a monthly basis. I had actually recommended this product to some clients of mine, but now am sorry I did. Now I am out not only the cost of the material, but the labor, as well. Despite the fact that ice cleats would not have helped in this case, the company's position is that they are not liable, since I did not have them installed. I am very disappointed in the product, and would heartily recommend against it.
Rip-off for gutters
Gutters for a house at $43+ a running foot. Seems lot an awful lot of profit there. What a rip-off!
Have problems with icicles with leaf gutters. also when installing tried to get more money from us. we are a older couple so thought they could shake us down for more money. also
We have a very steeple pitched roof, we were assured that at the peak of roof at front of house which is problem with ice forming when snow melts forming ice on front steps would be solved with a special roof peak diverter the salesman showed us on his phone.
Which would solve this problem. guess what, did not. all on all never should have bought
Thanks

I love my LeafGuard. It is everything they said and more. How nice to be
worry free. Another company came to my house and showed me a picture of LeafGuard with leaves stuffed in it. LeafGuard had already told me about their clog free warranty so when I asked the other guy why someone with this problem wouldn't call LeafGuard to remove a clog he couldn't answer me. Obviously, having dealt with many home remodeling companies as I
improve my home, I have become very aware of the devious sales tactics used
by many competitors. It's sad, because some people will believe them and
buy an inferior product when they could own LeafGuard. Do your homework is all I can say. Any company that can offer the Good Housekeeping Seal like LeafGuard did, earns my approval and I'll spend my money there. If
Good Housekeeping researched the product and gave them the ok, that's all
I need to know.
Bad business
Leafguard (gutters) of Greater Charlotte refuses to refund my $2300 deposit even though they never did any work at my house. I cancelled the job 3 days before they were supposed to show up. How does that sound to you? Don't use these guys, don't trust these guys.
The contract they use does not mention that the deposit is non-refundable. They just don't refund your money.
$2300 for no work what-so-ever. They don't return phone calls. They say that they will but I never get a return call. I think it's unfair that I have to hire a lawyer to recover my deposit.

Leafguard of Charlotte salesman Sean and manager Matt Supple priced my job at 4 times that of 2 competitors. I am disappointed that a fellow NCSU graduate would con people. Price gouging is illegal during pandemic in NC. Please do not use this company as they have no ethics!
This is what you call a predator company! When they come for free estimate NO mention about the 15% cancellation fee, if not concealed within 3 days (paperwork doesn't come until 7 days after signing). Also, no mention of ice icicles or dams, until paperwork arrives? So what gives, this company STEALS YOUR MONEY FOR NO WORK AT ALL, NO LOSS OF PRODUCT EITHER(just a few pages of paperwork)! The estimator came on 10th of may and I canceled on the 22nd May. So they made an easy free $2, 000 off my friend and my home. BUYER BEWARE, LEGALIZED THIEVERY! This company needs to be put out of business!
Scam
Already have leafguard? May I suggest you inspect the job. Make sure the gutters are installed the correct length (not to short or to long). Make sure the interior brackets are put in as agreed (every 2 feet) not every 3 or 4 feet. Make sure the brackets are installed uniform and straight. Make sure there are grommets in all the screws used. Makes sure the brackets are undamaged or bent. Make sure there are no open or unsealed holes left in the back plate that buts the fascia board. Make sure the end caps are on true and square to the home and the gutter (use a “T” square to check). Make sure the downspout holes (in the gutter) are a true 3 inches by 4 inches and the downspouts are not squeezed or bent to fit the opening. Leafguard is NOT a member of the BBB’s “Honor roll”. The pacfic NW BBB discontinued that program many years ago. When I signed my contract with the company, it was a C-, not an “A” as the salesman stated.
Get up on a ladder and make sure u have a quality product and a quality instal, If Leafguard says the screws go into truss tails …make sure they are in the tails. If they claim to use 4 inch screws, make sure it’s 4 in, not 3 inches. Check all the work.
In my case the installers left a mess on my roof and siding. Did property damage. The company played hard-ball, pushed the limits of making the customer jump thru every legal hoop to get a response or performance.

Waste of money
We had leafguard installed on our newly constructed house 6 years ago in the Seattle area. Service was fine, but be sure to read the warranty... It is guaranteed not to clog, which it never has... but the problem is all the pollen, pine needles, etc. that collect on the top of the gutter and then interfere with the water tension. The result is the water drips (in heavy rain it is like a waterfall) over the front side of the gutter making them useless. So they do not clog, but we have to clean the outside of them twice a year. I was shocked when I saw they had earhed a Good Housekeeping seal of approval since I would not recommend this product.

Had Leaf guard installed in 2019, worked flawlessly. We are adding a screened in porch to our deck and Leaf Guard came out and quoted $4600.00 with an $800.00 discount for 31 feet of gutter and three down spouts. That is a crazy number, called the company and they offered to come down to $3000.00, turned that down. Not planning to give them another dime and now looking at replacing all the gutters.
If we analyze the mechanics of these "gutter guards" or whatever you call them. If you've ever seen a demo of them at a trade show they always run the water at a slow pace. If they were to run the water fast [as in a down pour] the rain would not go into the gutter but would go over the top and past the openings.
You only have to study the mechanics of how they function to realize only slow moving water will enter these devices. Fast moving water will blow right past them for the most part.
It is a shame that intelligent adults will believe the marketing these companies put out. Think it may be a new experience,
We have had Leafguard for about 4 years, when they say you'll never have to clean your gutter again; that's not true, I have had birds nests in them every year, which clog our downspouts. Leafguard has to come to clean out the gutters at least once a year and I clean them out at least three times a year. Their ads have a representative from Leafguard talking to older individuals, well I am 72 years old and I should not have to clean out the gutters at all. Grant it they look good but are they are worth the aggravation or the money. Maybe what needs to happen is that Leafguard needs to come up with another design such as screening that can be added to the gutters for those that are in especially areas that have a higher rate of bird nesting, for some reason the nesting is worse than previous years. Here are two photos of the nests that we have and there are more I just can't get to them because the height of the house and the gutters.
There seems to be some problem with these complaints. Most are for Leaf filter, but the research is for leaf guard. I also saw info on gutter helmet. Are any of these kind of products worth having?
We kicked the salesperson out of our house after enduring 30 mins of a high-pressure sales pitch. It was like being in a used car showroom, complete with the "call to a manger" that I am 100% certain was a recording and not a real person on the other end. Feel like we dodged a bullet after reading these reviews.
Just watching Mr. Sleaze do the Leaf Guard commercials makes me feel grimy. He must have got his training selling time shares.
After reading these very informative reviews I am glad that the two appointments I had with Leaf Filter to install their crummy product were no shows. They did not even have the courtesy to call and say that they were not going to come. They tried to hold me up for an extra $100 over the contract price and stated that if I did not pay it they would not do the job. Damned right they won't. If they come on my property I will have them arrested for criminal trespass.
Had leaf filter gutter guards installed month ago. then came the rain. they did not keep water from going over the top. rains hard they do not work. called to complain no results. better off not having gutters. no leaf build up and no climbing ladders. would not tell anyone to buy. sales pitch is very untruthful. promise you they take care of all leaks seal all joints. unless you are up on ladder working with installer you are screwed.
How about a Class Action Suit. POOR product and worse customer service!
Yes we need a class action lawsuit...spent $11, 000 and husband spent three weeks correcting their overflow gutters issue. Total waste of money!
I had major surgery at the end of December 2019. I don’t know how this guy got into my house but I do remember him sitting on the ottoman and me in the chair. I was on heavy duty pain medication! I don’t remember what he said, but whatever he said was very very fast. 2nd day of January. I called when I found a paper signed by me, that I don’t remember signing but it was my signature. I have been calling every since then to remove them from my house, as I could not afford them. Now my house is damaged all the way around! In all this time until now, whatever woman answered the phone said, I’ll have a manager call you! Then it turned into, I’ll have someone call you today, then 3 days ago I had a woman say, a manager will call you within the next two hours. No one did any follow up, called me. Today I owe Greensky 3, 865.00 tomorrow it will be 5, 294.00! My gutters are damaged my house is damaged! Still no phone call to me! I told the first woman I talked to in January 2020 that I needed them removed because I am a permanently disabled widow of many years and I could not afford them! Forgot to say, I was not home when they installed them. I can get proof that I had either been driven to the surgeon for follow up or in the hospital again but I can get proof of where I was, I can get proof of all the times I called them! Help please give me some advice as to what I need to do or a lawyer that won’t charge me anything up from but will take a third when the case is won. donnawein1@icloud.com
I agree! we spent 10, 000 and have been told since (even by someone who used to be an installer for them) that we basically got “taken”. We don’t have money to throw around like that. So mad at myself that I got sucked in like that. I wish there were something we could do
good idea
I had Leafguard gutters installed on my house Mar. 2022. They overflowed so bad water got in our garage. I called and called and no one called me back. After some research I found a email for executive at the co. and they came to repair. Gutter was installed improperly and technician said he fixed it. Next rain we still had overflow. I could not stand the stress to try and get them back to fix. In spring of 2023 we were getting a new roof and having our house painted, so it was imperative I get them to fix the overflow problem. I again started the emails and phone calls and again no response back from Leafguard. Finally some months later someone came and looked at the gutter and stated it would need to be adjusted as not level and corner cap was too high. It took several more emails and phone calls and appointment in which they didn't show up. Finally they sent two technicians to repair, and in doing so they damaged my brand new roof. This was on May 25th, 2023. The executive that had helped me in the past no longer worked there and so I had to research to find out who to contact. Upon his contacting the company they came out and completely reinstalled our gutter. This executive is now not with company. They said to send invoice from roofing company and they would reimburse me for the repair. It is now July 20th, and no payment. Phone calls are not return, so I will have to file in small claims court. This has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced and it's still not over until I get payment. Buy from a company that does not have a lot of BBB complaints even if resolved, as it should never get to that point with good customer service
got Leaf Filter put on last year and have had nothing but problems. everything sits on top and the water runs right off as if no gutters at all. The first time I called I got a date to fix the problem 32 days from when I called. Then call a day before to come and then a no show. No call. Called 4 different times with nothing but an answer machine. No call back. Been calling for two years and things don't change. I have pictures, and video. Think I will be posting soon.
Not a complaint
Half of these reviews don't even make sense, i have leafguard and its not something that you order and that comes in... it is made at your house they have a truck that has a machine on it that makes the gutters the same length as your house... also they are made out of aluminum if you try to lift the top up it doesn't break if anything it would bend. People are so quick to talk down about things that they don't make sure they are complaining about the same company i would bet you most of these complaints aren't actually leafguard.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Gutters on front of house were never installed right on day one, they always clog because center of the gutter is lower the down spouts and the refuse to fix it, would not recommend this company to anyone.
What Happens In The Winter Snow Melt, The Gutters Freeze Over and Melting Snow Cause A Big Ice Melt Where Does The Snow Run Off Goes And Freeze Over. And Re freezes Ice Half Way Up The Roof Now The Water Leaks.
Yes, these customers have complaints. Lifeguard has not owned up to what they say the product does and when it snows or has ice storms yes you do get ice dams and ice falling on your steps and side walks. The company does not want to fix the issue it is always you have a roof problem. It is not their product. Nor did they mention that the system does not work in the ice or snow. So I agree do not buy this product. And they do not stand by customer satisfaction.

I had Flo-free gutters installed in 2005. It was a mistake. I have lots of debrie in my gutters. The local store that installed my gutters was out of business. After trying different numbers, I finally found a 800 phone number to call from the internet. They took my information and never called back. My back gutter is now pulling away from my house. I am very disappointed with this product.
I love my Flo-free. I installed it myself on our ranch house. We live on a heavily wooded 5 acre lot with oaks and hickory trees. The only part that needs cleaning/maintenance is the inside corner of our l-shaped house. There, the gutter installers put up a deflector to help keep heavy rains in the gutter on that inside corner. Therefore, small branches or clumps of leaves will get stuck there at times, but it's because of that deflector that sticks up above the gutter. With my "amateur" installation, there is no lip that has to be cleaned monthly. I agree that this "complaint" ought to be removed as they did not install the product properly.
Very Bad and wrong installation. This product works fantastic in winter and summer as well! This blog should be removed. If it continues, there could be legal problems of slander and false advertising against Georgiabiker57 and the editor of this blog.
You could try VersaScreen Gutter Protection. It can be installed with metal roofing and will not be pulled out when the snow slides off the roof. In areas where ice dams are a problem it can also be installed with an integrated heat cable system. www.VersaScreenGutterProtection.com
I wish I had read this before I installed my metal roof with gutter guards! I know exactly what you mean - what a waste of money!
You would not have had a problem had the Flo-Free been installed properly. You should learn to read directions.
