Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services totally disgusted

I am totally disgusted with people making promises to help clean up your credit record. This company charged me 79.95 and then sent me a card to use for their web site outlet stores that have absolutely nothing of use to me or anyone in my family. I went thru all 17 of the so-called departments and needless to say over 3500 items later, I wasn't any happier. I want my money replaced in my account now.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services this is a joke

I appllied for a horizon gold card thinking that I would receive a visa or a master card and also a free verizon cell phone. I waited two weeks and it took two days to chace down the fed ex guy.after receiving the package there was nothing in it but a broken cell phone from a company that i never heard of and a card no visa or mastercard logo nor were there any instructions on were or how to use the card I did not ask for the card they sent it tome on a post card I went online and applied after the pre approva; letteri scrolled down and realized that they had taken 99.95 out of my acc.instantly. I called right away when i noticed that they had taken it out andI was transfered to someone in charge I told them that i did not want the card because they took the money out of my acc so fast that I new something was wrong. they insisted that it was a real mastercard credit card and that the phone was verizon I still told them that i still did not want it and they told me that if i didnt get it now they could not give me a good referece to any other credit card companies.so I paniced and agreed I am 19 years old and my credit is not bad so i didnt want to mess it up all of this caused my checking acc to overdraw 132.00 which i was responsible for paying it back I feel this company was very misleading and i felt i was being taken advantage of and when i got the card i new it was true

The web site really stinks and the products are junk. I should have been way more careful before trying this company to help me re-establish my credit. These people that are in control of these kind of companies are ###. I will go elsewhere to re-establish my credit before i go broke on buying over priced junk from these guys. But what is bad is it took $50 out of my account before i can drop this mess i got myself in... SO BEWARE of scams/ ran by ###.

They send out millions of postcards that say you're approved for a 500 credit line. Of course everyone thinks credit card, and thats what they bank on. It's really a online store card, but the online store is a complete joke. They make millions from monthly fees. When you realize its not a visa you have to call to cancel and then they fight you to cancel and refund your money. Total scam artists. Don't sign up. If you have already call the 800 number and demand to cancel with full refund. They will try to get you with a cancel fee. Continue to demand your full refund. If they still refuse call your bank and dispute.

I APPLIED FOR THIS CARD, THINKING AND ASSUMING(BY THEM) THAT IT WAS A VISA OR MASTERCARD. BUT IT TURNS OUT THAT IT IS A CARD TO ONLY PURCHASE ITEMS FROM THE HORIZON WEBSITE, THATS IT. I APPLIED A FEW DAYS AGO AND GOT AHOLD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS ABLE TO CANCEL MY CARD AND GOT A CONFIRMATION NUMBER FOR THAT, PLUS AM BEING REFUNDED MY 29.95 FEE. THE NUMBER I CALLED AND TALK TO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO WAS VERY HELPFUL WAS [protected]. HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL TO ANYONE WHO MADE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID.

The information was a little vague when i filled out the application for a horizon gold card, and i did not realize they wanted to take out $79.95 out of my debit visa card account. When they tried it came up insufficient funds. I called them the next day and told them what happened and said do not try to take the money out again, because i read about them on this web site and changed my mind. They assured me they would not try to take it out again. Well, they did. I called them back and told them i wanted my money back, that they promised they would not try again. I did not know they try for 21 days in a row before stopping. The guy turned me over to a guy named michael. He offered me first to refund $50.00 and try the card but i said i do not want the card. He told me the money would be back in my account in 24 hours. I said that is also one of the complaints, that no one ever gets it all back. Michael was very nice and in 24 hours my money was back in my account. I told him if they return all of it i would get on this web site and tell everyone about receiving all of my money.

As a former employee of Horizon Gold I must warn all people who are thinking of getting this card... DO NOT GET THIS CARD... it is a rip off. If you have this card call and cancel it immediately. The company is very misleading. If when you call to cancel and they tell you that there is a 20.00 cancellation fee, threaten a chargeback and you will get 100% of your initial fee back. You will be transferred to a so-called supervisor but don't be fooled, the person you are transferred to is not a supervisor, just a person who is there to try to make thcard sound better than it is. Don't let them convince you that this card will build your credit because chances are it won't even be reported to the credit bureau. If you are transferred to a supervisor You will probably be speaking to "Lori". Don't let her tell you what you want, demand your money back. If she gives you a hard time ask to speak with Kim (gen manager) or better yr=et ask for Rich (vice president). Don't let anyone tell you that they aren't in the office that day because they are there everyday. If they say you have had the card over 30 days and you aren't due a refund, go to the Better Business Bureau and your Attorney General. THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN.

Horizon Gold Credit Card is misleading and disceptive in promoting their credit cards. This Credit Card does not disclose the purpose for which you have obtained credit: a line of credit to their business website only! This credit card is a Website Credit Card only. Horizon should be investigated by the State of California Department of Corporations, Consumer Dept., and Better Business Bureau for unfair & misleading business practices. I emplore you NOT TO SIGN UP with a company that does not disclose the intent of which they are seeking. This company is seeking your purchases for their own business website and is not a a true credit card. I will further this complaint to the authorities.

I APPLIED TODAY 03-31-08 FOR A HORIZON GOLD CREDIT CARD. THE FEE WAS 95.99, AFTER AGREEING TO THIS AND BEING CHARGED, I FIND OUT ITS NOT A TRUE CREDIT CARD. I TOLD TOM I WAS IN NO MOOD TO HEAR HIS SALES PITCH, AND I WAS GOING TO REPORT THEM TO BBB. HE SAID I COULD GET 50.00 BACK! I SAID NO WAY THAT IT HAD BEEN TEN MINUTES SINCE I HAD BEEN CHARGED AND WAS TIRED OF HIS BULL. HE PUT ME ON HOLD, THEN CAME BACK AND SAID THEY CREDITED MY ACCOUNT FOR THE FULL REFUND!PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS RIPOFF COMPANY! IF ANYONE NEEDS TO DEAL WITH THEM, BE PERSISTANT, DONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER, DEMAND A FULL REFUND, IT WORKED FOR ME.

I'm trying to figure out whether to cancel this card or keep it. I'm still waiting for my card which "hopefully" will arrive in a day or 2. I know this company is VERY deceiving but when doing a bit of my own research I noticed on their main page there's a thin window at the top with a down-scroll and that's where you can get a lot of info and the account "catch". So I'm waiting for the card and I'm going to check their site thehorizonout.com and if their products and set up works then I'll stick with it. Maybe it will help my credit score. Anyway, I get a feeling that I'll be cancelling it either way but I'll keep you all updated.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services fraud and misrepresentation!

I got this offer by email; "we remain eager and hopeful that you will take advantage of this incredible opportunity to become part of the Horizon Gold Card family. No Credit Checks, No Employment Checks, No income verification whatsoever... even bankruptcy is not a problem. Get 0% Interest, No Credit Checks, Instant Online Approval". I went online to find out more information. I had to fill out the first page of the application. On the second page, there was a picture of cards with the 'Visa' and 'Mastercard' logo. I clicked on the 'Terms and Conditions' for the Horizon Gold card and nothing was available. I tried this a couple of times before searching the internet for comments on this company.

This is a product that takes advantage of desperate people with poor credit and whom often can not read the terms or bypass them because they are strategically placed on the sign up for people to ignore. Consumers pay to be promised to be reported to a credit bureau. Maybe they are, who knows. No legit product will basically take a bribe payment for a useless shopping card to post your credit info. The owner also holds a position at a local bank, so you know they are getting some preferred treatment for a credit card processing account that most likely gets a lot of chargebacks and refunds. If you are billed, just call your bank and file a chargeback on their fees. Do not bother with customer service, save yourself the headache, just tell them to cancel and you are filing a chargeback and filing a complaint. Their customer service is just a chain of reps to try and entice consumers to stay enrolled. The limited shopping site consists of out of stock seconds and returned items, basically useless. The only way this firm makes money is billing consumers a recurring fee for a useless product they will never use. You are not getting anything for your money. The more complaints there are against these fraudsters, the more they may get noticed and investigated.

I was an employee of reliant holdings and to be honest I personally did not agree with marketing strategy, however, it is a very effective strategy from a business standpoint, it also says right in the terms and conditions that the horizon gold card is NOT I repeat NOT a VISA or MASTERCARD.

Now granted most of the people who wanted to sign up just saw credit card and and signed up without reading the terms and conditions I know because I heard all kind of illiterate folks tell me that they did not see that in the terms and conditions, but, if you look on the web site and click on terms and conditions, and you are not illiterate, you will read clearly in black and white the terms and conditions and it does also state that the card can only be used to purchase online items only.

I also want to state that the card can be used to help your credit by reporting on a monthly basis, the catch is you have to have a balance and be paying on the balance to have a good monthly report, just having the card and having an open account is not going to give you a good monthly report .

The main client base is composed of people who have less than perfect credit and are their credit score does not warrant a visa or mastercard also it states that the visa and mastercard logo are a payment method for the one time initial fee.

Point blank if you are uneducated enough to realize that the only people who will give you a credit card don't already know your credit score and you think that someone would seriously just give you a credit card with your obvious lack of finacial tack, you deserve what you get for not paying attention, and don't give that ADD ADHD horse hockey when someone calls your bluff because you did not read the fine print.

This is 2008 the is fine print everywhere you go in life get with the program.

If you closely look at the pictures of the card on the post card and on the website, GUESS WHAT! There is no Visa or Master Card logo. If you read the website closely, you will see that those logos are there to show you how to pay the one time membership fee. Also, if you red the terms and conditions, it says specifically that this is not a VISA or MASTER CARD, that it is for shopping on TheHorizonOutlet.com. Learn how to read and examine things!

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services no logo/mastercard/visa

I'm very upset about the horizon gold credit card, because you can only purchase from the outlet store witht their card, which was misleading, when I purchased there credit card, their are no mastercard/visa logo or a cvv number on the back of the card to be able to use the card for gas, or any other store, and the card cost me $79.95. Well when I purchased this card it was my understanding, that it was a regular credit card, but I can only use it to buy the junk on their outlet store and, I believe it is a rip off and a scam, to get you to buy there junk, so i'm sure you have got alot of angry people that purchased this card that is misleading, and i'm filing a petition to sue them for fraud. Sincerely, kathy dunlap, kathy. [protected]@yahoo.com. Thank you for listening!

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services misleading advertisement

advertisement is misleading customers, you think that you are getting a $500 credit card and so you pay the $79.95 initial payment but then you get a card that is only for their website to shop as a member. They should be advertising the card as the horizon card services not horizon gold credit card. It is horrible... i will try to see if I can cancel and get my money back, I doubt they would reimburse my money... but I will try. They need to be reported to the better business bureau.

totally agree with what everyone is talking about! I am so grateful that i read the terms and conditions that is the part that we always tend to check the bock but never really read i have learned to take the time to read it because it pretty much tells you what the credit card does or whatever you are applying for. Trust i have learned the hard way in the past. By reading the t&c and reading all of these statement i am not going to get this horizon gold nightmare!

I have received a credit card from them also, when i received it it did only give you the priviledge to only purchase things on their website. They should make things clear to consumers who apply that this not a universal credit card and only be used on their website. To the person who will try to get their money back i want to tell that they are not going to reimburse you the full amount the longer you take the less they give you back . SO GOOD LUCK!

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services it's crap!

Claims to issue V/MC unsecured credit cards They do not. Card is neither V or MC. Card can only be used on their website. The Horizon Outlet, which sells items you can get at goodwill. I am not slamming Goodwill, actually they sell some pretty cool stuff, Horizon outlet sell junk, items you can get a dime a dozen anywhere, any place. They say I can cancel this card by contacting them using "Contact Us" which, I have yet to successfully do. I want this card canceled now, and they need to either be shut down, or forced to be 100% honest and straightforward about everything.

I have found this out the hard way as well, unfortunenately, they have already taken their fee off of one of my legitimate credit cards, all I want to do is cancel the entire card so no more money goes off my card, but I can't find a way to do this, do you or does anyone know where to go to cancel everything about this card? I agree, I was totally misled, even by the "live agent" so I was upset and just want out. Thanks to whoever can or will help me

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services simply fraud!

This is mail and internet fraud. Received in mail a preapproved application for a Horizon Gold Card! When to website applied, spent $100 for all fees was lead to believe this was a regular visa/mastercard with a $500 credit limit. WRONG! Horizon had an "on line store" the card is only good at and if you order anything from this very poor web site you must wait four weeks to receive your item(s).

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services misinformed!

On the 7th of this month (December) I began to do my online shopping with my card... prior to receiving my card I was never told that I would have to pay and additional $40.00 for their gas as well as another $7.00 for ups delivery and signature.
Please note that I understand that gas price's have gone up and yes they should get something but $40.00 plus $7.00 is a bit much for someone like myself on a fixed income. I wanted very much to build up my credit not go farther in debt trying to.
The total amount of item's I was hoping to buy came to a total of $97.98 with these other charges it came to if I can remember correctly $143.

This is scam!

I was excited to get my Horizon Gold Card in the mail on Saturday February 9, 2008. Then when I opened the envelope, much to my dismay, there was not a Visa or Mastercard credit card, just some cheap paper card. I have good credit and I thought I was applying for a REAL credit card. So on Monday February 11, 2008, I called the 800 number. (I would have called sooner, but their hours are Mon-Fri 9-5, or something like that). You know, with my other cards, I can call the 800 number 24/7. Anyway, when I called, I spoke to a Customer Service Rep., I just said that I wanted to cancel the card, period. He went on to say "BLAH BLAH BLAH" I said "NO I WANT TO CANCEL." He said " YOU HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN TO THE OUTLET STORE". I said "YOU HAVE NOTHING I WANT TO BUY. I WANT TO CANCEL THE CARD. I DO NOT WANT YOU TO TAKE ANYTHING MORE OUT OF MY ACCOUNT." I did not realize there was a monthly fee of more money. I'm thinking that if I had been able to get onto their site I would have been charged an extra fee. Thank god I couldn't. Back to my story. Since I was determined to cancel, he could not help me, he would have me talk to a supervisor. I talked to a supervisor and then a manager. Luckily, I was able to cancel my card. I even got a cancellation number and an email stating my request to cancel and my refund will take at least 72 hours to process. The FUNNY part, although the $79.95 they took out of my account immediately, I get a refund of $59.95, because there is a $20.00 cancellation fee. This card is a total SCAM. SCAM SCAM SCAM

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services scam online credit card company

My money was taken just like all the others, being led to believe that thier card was a regular creit card to repair credit. Turns out they really only offer some cheap services no one ever uses, or that you probably already have included with insurance or AAA or something and if not ,you could buy at the dollar store.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services getting your money back

I received my card on Oct. 20, 2007, called their customer service [protected] on the following Monday. Representative gave me a hard time about getting refund back ($79.95). They give you the run around about how good they can help you with your credit and all the services they provide which is crap. After getting frustrated, what part of I DON'T WANT YOUR SERVICES, I JUST WANT MY REFUND. After hanging up on them, they called me right back and left a message that they cancel my card. Three days later they refunded me back $59.95 into my account. Still lost $20.00 and for what, a bad decision.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services taking money out of my checking account every month!

I had no idea about this, but they are taking money out of my account every month. $14.95. I cannot afford this, no wonder I keep getting overdrawn checks on my account and it also said I had a debit purchase of $14.95. You cannot use this card for debit. I am very upset and am going to try to cancel my account with them. If not, I will submit a request to the Better Business Bureau.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services fraud & cheating!

I had signed up with horizon gold card and saw that there is no logo of visa card or master card on the credit card, I called to Hallmark Bank and canceled it but they had already grabbed my 79.95 . I called them again and asked for my money back. They left me on hold for over a hour, knowing I was calling from the US. I still does not have my money back and it has been a month.

Horizon Gold makes you think you are getting a regular credit card, charges you $79.95 and then when you get your card, all you can use it for is their outlet store. What a rip-off! I only got the card because like so many others out there, I just barely make it financially each month and wanted to feel some security if I had an emergency. I truly feel used!

I received a postcard in the mail for this today. It showed I was pre-approved. I also noticed that the card they showed did not have a Visa or a Mastercard logo on it. That was a obvious indication to me that this was not a real credit card. Anyone with poor credit can get a card with HSBC or Tribute. Do not fall for frauds such as this.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services customer service problems

We received a post card in the mail stating this was a real credit card so me and my husband thought it was a visa/mastercard. We found out afterwards that it was a store card for an online store and they took 79.95 out of my account. I found there number on another complaint site and called. The supervisor talked me into keeping the account if he took 40.00 off of the fee. I never got an email with my user id or anything like he said I would. I read other people's complaints and decided I really didn't want to get involved with this company so I called back and spoke to the same supervisor. I told him that I read up on the good and bad of the company and wanted to cancel my card and he tried to badger me into keeping the account. I told him NO and he still persisted that I keep the card. Finally he agreed to refund the rest of my money. I would not recommend this company at all.

I did not authorize this company to debit 79$ from my bank account when i attempted to accept this offer the site was having difficulties and i closed out of the site and now i see 79$ debited from my bank account although i didn't complete the application. And now that im trying to contact the company (my bank provided a contact number) the phone just rings i can't reach anyone. I need some one to explain how is it that this could have happened without customer authorization. I am very upset about this, i didnt receive anything in the mail informing me about the acceptance of my application or in my email, this is just unacceptable.

I too received this piece of mail from horizon gold card stating that i would receive $500 in five days and i would receive a visa or mastercard. I log onto the website and there on i felt this was a scam, there was no number anywhere on the site to speak to a live person before signing up with them. I tried to find other ways to contact them and i was unsuccessful, the only contact they have before you sign up with them is by email. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS CARD. ITS A SCAM

Misleading advertisement makes you think you have a credit line with their store then when you order stuff and press checkout it takes you to a site where you have to buy a prepaid card where you have to pay 30.00 dollars a month and it goes to your Horizon Card and you have to put money on that prepaid card and pay the shipping and handling fee and the total from your horizon order will go on your credit

I'll make it really simple for you illiterate fools, YOU PAY 24.95 A MONTH, AND THEY WILL BUILD YOUR CREDIT FOR YOU. Learn to read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS before putting your card number on the internet and you wouldnt be scammed out of your money. You're obviously not responsible enough to even have a major credit card if you'll just put it on a random application before reading all the conditions.

All you need in order to comprehend everything concerning the difficult question of horizon gold card rate are revealed during the course of this special article. People obtain cards for several uses. There are any number of uses for credit cards, and consequently, nearly everybody carries one (or even several). Some want a card since charging all manner of purchases to a card is a really handy way of obtaining products or services whenever they want or need to -- even if they haven't got ready money. Other potential cardholders decide to go in for online credit cards simply because of the customer benefits they can accrue when they charge goods or services.

Other people may decide to get charge cards on account of the widely known and very attractive offerings proposed by a particular card provider, apart from better client support and great plans. Yet other individuals obtain online credit cards with the rationale that any goods or services they buy will be backed by the card company. This normally holds good in case you've had some sort of trouble regarding the goods you have paid for through your card, and, usually, the card issuer will compensate the damages by letting you charge back that sum.

A number of individuals get plastic cards because it's the best method of payment for e-Commerce transactions. For a number of folks, online shopping can be the most hassle free method to purchase goods or services, and more so for people who haven't found the time to drive to the shopping center. Online merchants typically accept payments from their customers by means of creditcard. Other people acquire online credit card so that they have a backup, and utilize it whenever they need money urgently. Almost all individuals experience emergencies when they're caught short, without readily available cash, so it becomes hard for them to find ways to manage the particular crisis. creditcards can come to their rescue in such circumstances, and this is yet another convenient use your plastic money can provide. Some people apply for plastic cards simply because they want to have card records that they can leverage in upcoming borrowings or other credit dealings with banks and financial institutions.

And, finally -- there are people who obtain online creditcards because of the expediency factor of not carrying cash around, which is rather unsafe. After all, cash in a stolen wallet could be lost permanently, while stolen or misplaced credit card online isn't as great a calamity - you just have to cancel the card, so you haven't really lost a thing in any way.

Those things are the characteristic justifications for why cards are popular with the majority of individuals -- which can be boiled down to the simplicity, practicality, and relative safety. However, no matter what the motivation, getting and making use of your online creditcard isn't something anyone should do without thinking things through. creditcard could be a truly convenient way for you to leverage as an alternative monetary instrument, though it can create difficulties for you. This is due to the fact that it ought to be utilized just by individuals who have what it takes to manage its use. If utilized in a rash or impulsive way, you will face the consequences of a monetary reversal later on.

To assess whether you'll be capable of managing online credit card (alongside your other financial matters) in the wisest manner, you should learn and apply the most important factors regarding your card and its basic elements. You have to think whether you will have the financial capability to pay off your bills when they arrive when you've bought goods on your plastic cards. Debt with plastic card is a typical scenario, on account of the inability of the cardowner to pay up his/her card balance right away. This happens if the card owner fails to take due care with the manner in which he or she makes credit purchases, and consequently piles up ever-growing dues by the end of the period the bill covers.

How about a scenario when a person fails to pay the bills in full and just pays them in part? It might be alright, although the danger sets in if its a recurrent feature and the card dues keep piling up, because it means heftier rates of interest. Fees increase even more if there're no appropriate funds to cover the card dues. In such a scenario, it's crucial that the card owner make use of the most strategic financial management to understand how he or she should use charge card in order to evade financial losses.

I thought you didn't need any credit card. Because it said on the card no bad credits, or bank checks. So I want to know what is going on here?

SEC Steps Up Nationwide Crackdown Against Internet Fraud, Charging 26 Companies and Individuals for Bogus Securities Offerings

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

99-49

Vigilant Surveillance and Preemptive Strikes Help Prevent
Investor Losses

Washington, D.C., May 12, 1999 – In its third nationwide Internet fraud sweep, the Securities and Exchange Commission today announced 14 enforcement actions against 26 companies and individuals for using the Internet to defraud investors and potential investors.

These actions are the culmination of a sweep targeting the sale of bogus securities through the Internet. In some of today's actions, SEC Internet surveillance detected the alleged bogus investment offerings before the perpetrators could make any sales, stopping the alleged frauds before potential investors lost money.

SEC Director of Enforcement Richard H. Walker said, "These actions demonstrate the SEC's commitment to cleaning up the Internet, and prove that through vigilant surveillance and preemptive strikes, the SEC can catch Internet thieves in the early stages of their investment frauds, sometimes even before they have stolen from a single investor." Mr. Walker added, "While the Internet can make it easier for thieves to commit securities fraud, the Internet also puts the fraud in plain view, making it easier for the SEC to catch it."

Today's actions share two common themes: Each involved the sale or marketing of securities via the world wide web and each contained outrageous or baseless promises to investors, in some instances guaranteeing annual profits exceeding 100% or even 2000% of an investor's initial investment. In addition to the fraud claims asserted in the actions, the SEC also charged several individuals for acting as unregistered broker-dealers and for selling unregistered securities.

In two of the actions, each an alleged international pyramid scheme (SEC v. Roor, et al. and SEC v. Future Strategies Srl), a federal judge has granted emergency relief, including an order requiring the defendants to stop immediately all alleged fraudulent activities and to submit a detailed accounting of all investor funds; and, in the case of SEC v. Roor, et al., the judge ordered an asset freeze. Among the other actions filed today, the SEC charged alleged swindlers with using the Internet to peddle worthless investments ranging from gold mining interests (In re Pierce, et al.) and so-called "prime bank" notes (SEC v. Stahl, et al. and SEC v. Edwards) to "ground-floor opportunities" in high-tech software (SEC v. Rosenthal), the construction of pre-fabricated hospitals in Turkey (In re Artz, et al.) and a product providing a revolutionary gold processing technique (SEC v. Abramson).

Today's actions are part of the third nationwide sweep conducted by the SEC. Previous sweeps filed in October 1998 and February 1999 dealt with the unlawful touting of publicly-traded companies via the Internet. The SEC's Office of Internet Enforcement coordinates the sweeps; the CyberForce and the Office of Internet Enforcement conduct the surveillance; and attorneys within the SEC Division of Enforcement throughout the country lead the investigations. The CyberForce, now more than 200 strong, is a dedicated corps of SEC enforcement staff specially trained for Internet surveillance.

Two emergency actions, SEC v. Forex, et al. filed in February and SEC v. Lazarus Long filed in April, were originally part of this sweep, but the SEC filed these actions earlier to minimize investor losses.

The SEC also issued today a series of tips for avoiding online investment scams, encouraging investors to take three steps before they invest:

Call your state securities regulator or check the SEC's EDGAR database at www.sec.gov to determine whether an investment is legally registered.

Ask your state securities regulator whether the person or firm selling the investment is licensed to do business in your state and whether they have a record of complaints or fraud.

Assume investments offered through the Internet are scams until you've done your homework and proven otherwise.
"People spend more time choosing a computer than they spend researching Internet investments," said Nancy M. Smith, Director of the SEC's Office of Investor Education and Assistance. "Investors can take their own preemptive strikes against Internet fraud simply by checking out investments before they buy."

To report suspicious Internet activities pertaining to securities fraud, please use the Enforcement Complaint Center at or email the SEC at enforcement@sec.gov and for more tips on saving, investing, and avoiding fraud online, visit www.sec.gov/investor/online.shtml.

Case Summaries & SEC Contact List
1. SEC v. David Abramson (SEC Contact: Eric Schmidt [protected])
The SEC alleges that David Abramson, a resident of New York City, New York, raised $50,000 over the Internet by selling phony interests in a company called Brightstar, which purportedly had access to a more efficient process to extract gold from magnetite concentrate, a type of ore. The SEC alleges that Abramson's promise to investors that they could receive an annual return of 2600% for ten years was an outright lie.

2. SEC v. Abacus International Holding Corp and Arthur Agustin (SEC Contact: David Horowitz [protected])
The SEC alleges that the sole owner and employee of Abacus International Holding Corp., Arthur Agustin, a resident of Alameda, California, sold "prime bank" securities, and made false promises of extravagant returns with little risk; all for an investment that never existed. At least one person invested $250,000 in the securities offered by the defendant, at least $60,000 of which the SEC alleges Agustin misappropriated for his own use.

3. SEC v. Richard Briden, Empowerment Funding Group, LLC and Infopro Group, Ltd. (SEC Contact: James Adelman [protected])
The SEC alleges that Richard Briden, a resident of Ashland, Massachusetts, and two corporations he controlled offered fraudulent "prime bank" trading programs over the Internet. The SEC alleges that Briden convinced seven investors to invest $295,000, promising a return of 640% per 40-week trading period. The SEC alleges that, like all "prime bank" securities, the investment never existed.

4. SEC v. Future Strategies Srl (SEC Contact: Richard Murphy [protected])
The SEC alleges that Future Strategies, an Italian entity headquartered in Carpi, Modena, Italy promoted a bogus pyramid scheme over the Internet known as "Pentagano." The SEC alleges that Future Strategies sold "Pentagano Certificates," now called "Card Purchase Orders," to more than 400 investors in the United States making false promises that an investment of only $120 or so could earn up to $116,400. The SEC alleges that the entire program was a sham, a fraudulent pyramid scheme, designed only to bilk investors.

5. SEC v. HDG Investment Corp. and Paul Edwards (SEC Contact: Daniel Shea [protected])
The SEC alleges that HDG and Paul Edwards, a Canadian citizen living in Prague, Czech Republic, used the Internet to raise more than $300,000 from investors for a fictitious prime bank investment program promising to produce a 20-to-1 return in thirty days. The SEC alleges that Edwards continued to give investors false assurances that they would receive their promised returns months after diverting at least $100,000 of investor proceeds to his personal use. The SEC alleges that, like all "prime bank" securities, the investment never existed.

6. SEC v. Theodore Pollard (SEC Contact: Helane Morrison [protected])
The SEC alleges that Theodore Pollard, a resident of Palo Alto, California, maintained a website using the name "World Investment Network, Ltd." on which he solicited dubious investments, including the "Winsell $35K Lease $1M" program, a "prime bank" program. The SEC alleges that Pollard promised investors an 800% return ($3,000,000 on $35,000 in ten months) on a purportedly risk-free investment. During the course of the investigation, Pollard was ordered by a District Court Judge to comply with Commission administrative subpoenas. Pollard was then found in contempt of that order, daily fines were imposed, and the Judge issued a bench warrant for his arrest for his continued non-compliance. The SEC alleges that, like all "prime bank" securities, the investment never existed.

7. SEC v. Peter Roor, Ronald Templin and Laurie Weiss (SEC Contact: Mark Schonfeld: [protected])
The SEC alleges that Peter Roor, a Dutch citizen residing in Amsterdam, Ronald Templin, a resident of Kokomo, Indiana, and Laurie Weiss, a resident of Waynesville, Missouri, promoted at least five ongoing Internet-based fraudulent pyramid schemes, each of which promised investors risk-free returns between 10% and 400% per month, plus additional returns for recruiting new investors. The SEC alleges that the pyramid schemes were a complete sham based on a slew of empty promises. The SEC alleges that the defendants defrauded thousands of investors worldwide of more than one million dollars. On Monday, the SEC obtained emergency relief from a New York Federal Judge, including an immediate order to cease all fraudulent activities, to account for all investor funds, to freeze the assets of two of the defendants (Roor and Templin), and to further protect all investors by prohibiting the defendants from transferring any money offshore.

8. SEC v. Jason Rosenthal (SEC Contact: James Adelman [protected])
The SEC alleges that Jason Rosenthal, who resided in Gloucester, Massachusetts at the time, used the Internet to solicit purchasers of unregistered securities in entities formed to purchase and operate franchises, which would sell and support software for operating commercial websites. The SEC alleges that Rosenthal made false promises claiming returns for investors of 500% to 2000% within two years. The SEC also alleges that Rosenthal misled investors into believing that they had an opportunity to join the same venture capitalists who had provided initial capital for Microsoft and Intel, and further misled investors to believe that the entity in which they would be investing was planning an initial public offering. The SEC alleges that Rosenthal's solicitations yielded investments from three investors, totaling $50,000 and commissions to Rosenthal in the amount of $5,000.

9. In the Matter of Lawrence Artz, Neurotech Corp., Enhance Resources, Inc. and Bruce Lynch (SEC Contact: James Adelman [protected])
The Division of Enforcement alleges that Lawrence Artz, a resident of Roslyn, N.Y., Bruce Lynch, a resident of Brookline, Massachusetts, Neurotech Corp. and Enhance Resources, Inc., conducted a fraudulent offering over the Internet for an investment in notes in the nominal amount of $15 million, the proceeds of which were to be used to construct prefabricated hospitals in Turkey. The Division also alleges that the respondents claimed that three well-known Turkish banks had agreed to guarantee the notes, so that there would be no risk to investors. The Division also alleges that the entire investment was a sham – no Turkish banks had ever made any such guarantees and the projections posted in the offering were nothing more than baseless and unfounded representations. The Division filed this action before anyone invested in this alleged fraud.

10. In the Matter of David Francis (SEC Contact: Antonia Chion [protected])
The Division of Enforcement alleges that David Francis, a resident of Bowling Green, Kentucky, marketed interests in "prime bank" investment programs, promising returns as high as 200% every ten banking days. These solicitations were made to an Arizona undercover investigator who was passed on to Francis after initially reading about "prime bank" investments on an Arizona-based website. The Division alleges that, like all "prime bank" securities, the investment never existed, and filed this action before anyone invested in this alleged fraud. Without admitting or denying the Division's allegations, Francis consented to an order requiring him to cease and desist from all current and future violations of the antifraud provision of the Securities Act of 1933.

11. In the Matter of Derrick Johnson (SEC Contact: Sheila O'Callaghan [protected])
The Division of Enforcement alleges that Derrick Johnson, a resident of Aloha, Oregon, used three different websites to sell "prime bank" instruments promising returns from 50% to 1600% in 3 to 120 plus days and promising that the "prime bank" instruments would be "100% insured" and "guaranteed in writing." The Division alleges that Johnson also falsely represented that he and his company, "Global Financial Group," had clients in more than twenty countries, even though Global and Johnson in fact had no clients at all, and no operations other than the three websites Johnson created. The Division alleges that, like all "prime bank" securities, the investment never existed. The Division filed this action before anyone invested in this alleged fraud.

12. In the Matter of Lila Keith (SEC Contact: Daniel Shea [protected])
The Division of Enforcement alleges that Lila Keith, a resident of Aurora, Colorado, operating under the name "Keith Financial Services," used the Internet to provide account receivable services, to broker commercial loans, and to offer "prime bank" investment interests. The Division alleges that Keith raised over $300,000 from at least three investors for the "prime bank" securities offered by Paul Edwards (See, SEC v. Edwards), promising a 20-to-1 return within thirty days of each investment. The Division alleges that, like all "prime bank" securities, the investment never existed.

13. In the Matter of Gary Pierce and C.S.I. Ag (SEC Contact: James Adelman [protected])
The Division of Enforcement alleges Gary Pierce, a resident of Studio City, California, and C.S.I. Ag., a Turks and Caicos company, solicited investments in a $500 million unregistered bond offering for the government of Free Vietnam, a political association, via its website and other vehicles. The Division alleges that the respondents promised an average annual return of 19.6% and that the bond offering was collateralized by $500 million of CSI's gold reserves. The Division alleges that there existed no basis for the valuation of the gold reserves. The Division also alleges that the respondents failed to disclose that 70% of the money invested would be used for activities that would generate no revenue, and that only 30% would be invested in an unspecified "yield rich trading program" (which would have to generate more than 56% annually for five years to pay investors the promised rates of return). The Division filed this action before anyone invested in this alleged fraud.

14. In the Matter of Robert Stahl, Elizabeth Boyd and Bobby Rodgers (SEC Contact: Antonia Chion [protected])
The Division of Enforcement alleges that Robert Stahl, a resident of Chandler, Arizona, Elizabeth Boyd, a citizen of Canada who resides in Oakville, Ontario and Fort Myers, Florida, and Bobby Rodgers, a resident of Germantown, Tennessee, offered to an Arizona Corporation Commission undercover investigator various "prime bank"-related investment programs. The Division further alleges that Stahl initially offered certain of these programs on a website he created entitled "Inve$tit Opportunities," then later, in personal solicitations, promising returns as high as 20% each 2-3 week trading "cycle." The Division alleges that the investigator was later passed on to Elizabeth Boyd and her associate David Francis, who ultimately offered him an interest in a program promoted by Bobby Rodgers that purported to generate returns as high as 200% every ten banking days through the trading of fictitious debt instruments on overseas markets. The Division alleges that none of the programs offered existed. The Arizona Corporation Commission and the Division of Enforcement filed actions before anyone invested in these allegedly bogus programs.

I was mislead into thinking this was a real credit card. I charged the $79.95 fee to a real credit card that I have. I did this today about 1 hour ago. I tried to call my real credit card company and they said I would have to get this company Horizon Card Services. They are only open M-F (9-5pm EST) This is Saturday.

Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Yes I agree to this, They took 49.95 off of my emrald card from H&R Block told me that I would recieve my card in the mail in 7-10 business days and here it is two and a half weeks later and I still did not recieve anything. I am kinda of irratated over this whole mater and I also was told that this was a mastercard and I sure enough hope that it is cause the web said that it was to help me rebuild my credit. This is not right then I go on the website to try and find a customer service number and I could not find it. Thankfully someone posted it already which I am thankful for. If anyone ever needs to get any kind of 1-800 number you can dail this number right here [protected] its called toll free directory powered by tell me Its gets me all the numbers that I want. But I tried finding this credit card company on it and it said that they don't list there number with them so I am taking it that this is a gimic. I am quite upset basically stole money from childrens mouths that is messed up...

Federal Reserve Banks
Major Consumer Protection Laws
Contacting Federal Agencies
Online Complaint Form
If you have a complaint about a bank or other financial institution, the Federal Reserve System can help.

The Federal Reserve System is one of five federal banking agencies responsible for administering many of the federal laws that protect consumers in their dealings with financial institutions. The Federal Reserve investigates consumer complaints against banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System (state member banks). The Board of Governors, in Washington, D.C., works with the twelve Federal Reserve Banks across the country to ensure that state member banks abide by the law.

We help consumers by:
Identifying the appropriate federal banking regulator and referring complaints to that agency

Investigating complaints about state member banks

Answering questions about banking practices

How to File a Consumer Complaint About a Bank
What complaints are investigated?
If you think a bank has been unfair or misleading, discriminated against you in lending, or violated a law or regulation, you have the right to file a complaint (see "Major Consumer Protection Laws"). Complaints about discrimination in housing are covered by the Fair Housing Act. These complaints are investigated by the Federal Reserve and referred to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

How do you file a complaint?
First, please try to settle the problem directly with your bank. This may involve contacting senior bank management or the bank's customer service representative.

If you cannot resolve the problem with your bank, you may want to file a complaint with the appropriate federal regulator (see "Contacting Federal Agencies"). If you cannot identify the federal regulator, contact the Federal Reserve Board, and we will forward your complaint to the appropriate agency.

For complaints about state member banks, you can use the online complaint form or file a written complaint with the Federal Reserve--either with the Board or with the appropriate Federal Reserve Bank. Please include the following:

Your name, address, and daytime telephone number

The complete legal name and address of the bank involved in your complaint

Your bank or credit card account number, if applicable

The names of the people you contacted at the bank, along with the dates

A description of the complaint. Tell us what happened, the dates involved, and the names of those you dealt with at the bank. The more information we have about the problem, the quicker we will be able to help resolve it. Include copies of letters or other documents that may help us investigate your complaint. Please send only copies of documents--do not send originals.

Please remember to sign and date your letter, and send it to:
Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System
Division of Consumer and Community Affairs
20th and C Streets, NW, Stop 801
Washington, DC 20551
For more information, please call [protected].

What will the Federal Reserve do?
Consumer complaints filed against state member banks are investigated by one of the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks, based upon the location of the bank involved in your complaint. If your complaint is received by the Board and involves a state member bank, Board staff will forward your complaint to the appropriate Reserve Bank for investigation.

The Reserve Bank may contact you to request additional information about your complaint. As the Reserve Bank investigates each issue raised in your letter, it will --

Ask the state member bank involved for information and records regarding your complaint

Determine if the bank's response addresses your concerns

Send you a letter about its findings

The Reserve Bank will let you know if it finds an error or a violation of a federal law or regulation. Investigations usually last 30 to 60 days. If more than 60 days have passed, the Reserve Bank will contact you to let you know the status of the investigation. Please note that it may take several months to resolve complaints alleging illegal credit discrimination.

Although the Federal Reserve looks into every complaint that involves the banks we regulate, we do not have the authority to resolve every type of problem. For example, we are unable to resolve contract disputes or undocumented factual disputes between a customer and a bank. In these cases, we suggest that you contact an attorney. Also, we cannot investigate matters that are the subject of a pending lawsuit.

Complaints about customer service or disagreements over specific bank policies and procedures--which are usually determined by the individual bank--are not addressed by federal law or regulation. However, if you file a complaint, a bank may voluntarily work with you to resolve the problem.

I have done extensive research on the person of Fidelis Anosike, who have assumed onwership of Nigeria's oldest and largest newspaper conglomerate through some dubious means and discovered that he is of questionable character.
Aside from the various quote I shall sshortly provide on this person, I will also as a former editor with the paper confirmed his unsuitability to run such a media organisation, which he obtained by colluding with the late wife of the ex-president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Today, the state of the newspaper house is worse than what it was prior to its privatisation. In fact, the paper is no longer on the news stand, while most of the choice assets of the company have been sold off by Anosike and the proceeds fritered away on useless lifestyle.
Both present and old staff of the company are being owed millions of naira in unpaid wages and gratuity without any hope of such money being recovered.
Anosike was quoted by some of his present staff as saying that "I didnot bought Daily Times to pay salary," which means he is in the company to loot its property estimated at over 5 billion naira.
This is one privatisation that should be revisited by the government to save the media company from extinction. The whole process leading to the change of onwership was fraut with fraud and this require an urgent investigation bby the current leadership of the country.

Nigerian Woman Loses Miss World Claim

Angela Onyeador had claimed that she had made a deal with a Miss World agent to put up $360,000 as a guarantee for the pageant's World gala fund-raising dinner at London's Grosvenor House Hotel in return for 60 percent of the profits. But Justice Robert Reid said Wednesday that Allianz Nigeria Ltd., the company with which Onyeador made the deal, was not an agent for Miss World. The company was run by Fidelis Anosike, "someone who might reasonably be described as a thoroughgoing con man," the judge said. The company has now gone out of business and Anosike could not be reached for comment.

Fraud at Daily Times: EFCC Petitioned
Written by Jonathan Elendu Wednesday, 01 March 2006
Daily Times of Nigeria Plc has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Fidelis Anosike, the purported buyer of the media group. In a petition dated February 27, 2006, which Elendureports.com obtained, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Daily Times Nigeria Plc, Okey Igwe, alleged that Fidelis Anosike sold the company’s interests in the Nigerian Stock Exchange building for nine hundred million naira (N900,000,000.00) and did not render proper accounts. They also allege that Anosike sold a DTN Plc property in London.
Another very reliable source at DTN Plc told Elendureports.com that Anosike’s plans all along had been to sell off
the media group’s assets valued at over four billion naira. According to this source, Anosike did not have the
financial resources or the managerial acumen to revive the ailing media conglomerate. Hence, he pounced on some
choice properties of the company as soon as he assumed control.

By By Uche Nworah
The Daily Times Institute of Journalism located in Surulere area of Lagos used to be a standard bearer in journalism education in Nigeria but the institution has now fallen on hard times, especially because of the financial distress of the parent organisation (The Daily Times media group), which has since been privatised by the Nigerian government and sold to the Fidelis Anosike – led Folio Communications for 1 Billion naira ($650m) under mysterious circumstances.
The new owners (Folio Communications) have been accused of underhand asset stripping tactics, and is currently embroiled in legal mitigation with some of the organisation’s key stakeholders, most especially the employees union.

PEOPLE AND POLITICS
2002: As the year ends
By
Mohammed Haruna

Professor Jerry Gana, the minister of information has categorically denied that the Federal Government has spent one kobo for the event. But the verbal exchanges on newspaper pages between Miss Angela Onyeador, who was contracted by Allianz Nigeria Limited to organise the Miss World Royal Charity Gala in London, and Mr. Fidelis Anosike, the boss of Allianz, has given the lie to Gana’s denial. In his brave effort to shield the First Lady, Stella, from Onyeador’s allegations of breach of contract on the part of Miss World Organisation, Anosike seems to have inadvertently admitted that government did underwrite the costs of a pageant which was supposed to be a purely private affair.
First, Anosike admits in an interview with Thisday (December 8) that “FCT was doing a lot in terms of support”. That support is very unlikely to have been purely moral. Second, Anosike says Julia Morley, the boss of Miss World Organisation, has collected 2 million dollars from Nigeria. “Nobody has come and sat down and asked at what point does she return the money?”

CBN confirms Nigeria’s Foreign Reserve at $43.6bn
Posted Wednesday, July 18, 2007
Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria in charge of Operations, Dr. Shamsudden Usman yesterday offered insights into the status of the nation’s foreign reserve, declaring before the Senate that $43.6 billion had accumulated in the reserve as at last Monday.

This represents a marginal increase of about $600 million over the previous month’s figure. He also disclosed at his screening by the Senate for a ministerial appointment that N123 billion deposits belonging to private sector have been confirmed trapped in 14 banks after the market-induced banking consolidation exercise.

The funds are trapped in African Express Bank, AllStates Trust Bank, Assurance Bank of Nigeria, City Express Bank, Eagle Bank, Fortune International Bank, Gulf Bank, Hallmark Bank, Lead Bank, Liberty Bank, Metropolitan Bank, Societe Generale Bank, Trade Bank and Triumph Bank. Three of the existing banks namely United Bank for Africa Plc, Ecobank Nigeria Plc and Afribank of Nigeria Plc have however, taken over both the private sectors deposits and assets of Assurance Bank Plc, Lead Bank Plc, Trade Bank Plc, City Express Bank Plc and Metropolitan Bank Plc through the “Purchase and Assumption” strategy.

Responding to questions by Senators on the rationale for accumulation of foreign reserve at the expense of decaying infrastructure at home, Usman said “I am happy that the question has been asked because there is so much confusion about it and people say that we have $43 billion.

“In fact, as at yesterday (Monday), it was $43.6 billion in reserves and people think that the same amount of $43 billion is to be spent. Now, if you break down this $43 billion, about $31 billion or 71 per cent of this amount belongs to the Central Bank.

“So, we are like a Bureau De Change. The money was earned by the Federation; they brought the dollar to the Central Bank. We took the dollar and gave them naira and they have spent the money.” Usman told the Senate that all the three tiers of government had already shared $31 billion and spent it.

“All the three tiers of government have shared this $31 billion and spent it. So, it is like you go to a Bureau De Change; they give you naira; you go and spend it, then you come back and looking at the dollar that you gave to the man and say there is money there.

“So, $31.3 billion of this money is not available for spending. $2.3 billion out of that also belongs to the Federal Government. The only amount available in the Federation Account for distribution, which is the so-called Excess Crude, is about $9.9 billion and there are some transactions that are in the pipeline of about $1 billion.

“The net amount you are talking about is $8.8 billion. So, if there is any amount to be spent, that is the amount to be distributed. Now the question is that even if you translate that amount into naira, it comes to about N1.1 trillion.” Usman explained that spending this kind of money at such a short notice within the economy would create “a cloud or smoke of inflation.”

Fraud at Daily Times: EFCC Petitioned
Contributed by Jonathan Elendu
Wednesday, 01 March 2006
Last Updated Wednesday, 01 March 2006
Daily Times of Nigeria Plc has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Fidelis
Anosike, the purported buyer of the media group. In a petition dated February 27, 2006, which Elendureports.com
obtained, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Daily Times Nigeria Plc, Okey Igwe, alleged that Fidelis
Anosike sold the company’s interests in the Nigerian Stock Exchange building for nine hundred million naira
(N900,000,000.00) and did not render proper accounts. They also allege that Anosike sold a DTN Plc property in London.
Okey Igwe, in the petition on behalf of DTN Plc, which is addressed to Nuhu Ribadu, Chairman of EFCC, claimed that
five hundred million (N500,000,000.00) from the nine hundred million naira was paid into the DTN Plc accounts with
Hallmark Bank Plc. Another two hundred and twenty million naira (N220,000,000.00) was paid into an account at the
Equitorial Trust Bank. The remaining one hundred and eighty million naira (N180,000,000.00) is yet to be accounted for
by Anosike.
The two hundred and twenty million naira (N220,000,000.00) lodged at Equitorial Trust Bank was fraudulently withdrawn
by Anosike according to the petition to the EFCC. Anosike is alleged to have colluded with some unnamed officers of the
bank in perpetrating this fraud.
Fidelis Anosike is the Managing Director of Folio Communications Ltd, the company which bought DTN Plc for one
billion, two hundred and fifty million naira during the privatization of the media conglomerate by the Bureau of Public
Enterprises (BPE). Sources very close to the process leading to the purchase of DTN Plc told Elendureports.com that
Fidelis Anosike and Folio Communications Ltd funded the purchase of DTN Plc through investments by an Ibo billionaire,
Ben Okoye, and Hallmark Bank Plc. The bank is said to have made available the sum of seven hundred and fifty million
naira (N750,000,000.00) while Ben Okoye invested five hundred million naira (N500,000,000.00). The seven hundred
and fifty million naira is a loan from Hallmark Bank which Folio Communications Ltd and Anosike were unable to repay at
the agreed time.
Shortly after the deal, Okoye is said to have told friends that he regretted the deal with Anosike and wanted out. He is
said to have sold his shares in DTN Plc to a group of lawyers for four hundred and fifty million naira, incurring a loss of
fifty million naira. With sustained pressure from the lawyers who purportedly bought Okoye’s shares, Anosike is
said to have signed over to them some DTN Plc properties valued at over seven hundred million naira. However,
Elendureports.com was reliably informed that Ben Okoye used the lawyers as a front to recoup his investments in DTN
Plc and made a profit on the deal.
Anosike had also entered into several agreements with Hallmark Bank Plc that would have led to the settlement of the
loans. According to our sources, Anosike reneged on all the agreements. This led to Folio Communications Ltd going into
receivership. However, after the last agreement with Hallmark Bank Plc, Anosike is alleged to have played smart by
announcing that he had repaid the loans to the bank and thanked some prominent Nigerians for helping resolve the issue
with the bank. He also announced his plans to revamp the media conglomerate. According to a source that was privy to
all the transactions, “Anosike’s announcement was not worth the paper it was written on. The man was just
blowing smoke and unfortunately some people fell for it.”
The sale of DTN Plc’s interest in the building by Fidelis Anosike was challenged in a Federal High Court in Lagos
by Anthony Idigbe, SAN, the Receiver/Manager of Folio Communications Ltd. Following the lawsuit, some bank accounts
belonging to DTN Plc were frozen. Citing some sections of the law, Okey Igwe, the Managing Director of DTN Plc
asserted that Fidelis Anosike lost all rights as a director of Folio Communications Ltd to the Receiver/Manager. The
implication is that Anosike acted without authority when he sold DTN Plc’s interests in the Stock Exchange
building. Igwe also stated that by virtue of applicable laws, assets of DTN Plc could not be used to settle debts owed by
Folio Communications Ltd.
The petitioner also asked the EFCC to investigate the sale of a property belonging to Daily Times in London by Fidelis
Anosike. According to Igwe, Anosike is yet to account for the London property. Elendureports.com was informed by a
Elendu Reports

source that the London property of DTN Plc was sold by Anosike for three hundred and fifty thousand pounds
(¤350,000.00). The buyer of the property is said to have paid fifty percent of the purchase sum to Anosike. Ben Okoye,
according to our sources, discouraged the lady who bought the property from making further payments to Anosike.
Elendureports.com was reliably informed that DTN Plc had on two previous occasions written petitions to the EFCC
against Fidelis Anosike. The EFCC did not respond or act on the petitions. This attitude by the EFCC created the
impression in the minds of people at DTN Plc and Hallmark Bank that Fidelis Anosike has very powerful people behind
him. Anosike is said to have exploited this situation to his advantage.
Okey Igwe, Fidelis Anosike and Anthony Idigbe were not available for comments as at the time of going to press.
