Choice Hotels International unauthorized charges, scam

Stayed there 1 night while my daughter was having tests run at the Medical College of Georgia. A week after returning home, I checked my credit card account online and the hotel had charged 2 seperate $500. charges and one $300 charge! Immediately I called the manager, he said that there was "water damage" to the room and that was the cost to repair. First of all, my shower was taken the night before I checked out and there was no "water issue" the morning I woke up. No one had even tried to contact me regarding this matter until I saw the charges! Still working with claims department of my credit card - but will sue them if it is not resolved through the credit card company. THESE PEOPLE ARE STEALING FROM THEIR GUESTS!

Choice Hotels International bed bugs

After staying at this motel one night on 11/7/09 I was in severe pain and swelling from multiple bed bug bites which took some hours to show on my body. By the next day I had to go to an emergency clinic for shots for swelling. Rx for anti itch and a week of misery. I contacted the home office of Choice Hotels and was blown off. The local owner has still not contacted me back!

I can only advise you not to frequent this place. I have learned my lesson and will spend more money for now on even for a quick one night visit

My husband and I stayed there on November 10-12 we checked out on the 13 we both had red blotches and swelling all over our bodies. We got home and I had bugs in my suite case which I didn't have before we left.
I complained to the manager and she just blew it off like nothing was there we will never stay at any choice hotel again and we will not recommend it to any else because it was over priced and we were lied to about the price we paid at the most disgusting hotel we ever stayed at. We were told it the price would be 80.00 for the three nights and when we got there we were told it would be 100.00 for the three nights which was miss leading. Please feel free to call me at [protected] My name is Donna Borges thank you for understanding If you don't take this seriously I will contact the health department in Orlando to close them down

hello, i am an ex employee and also i had stayed there for 2 nights, and for that reason yes i made my own bed cleaned my own room, my complaint here is first there is NO supervisor nor a manager, just the head boss and the bigger head boss that own the building. It's a family business for them. I quit because it is very stressful and nothing is getting done properly, I was the person to check rooms after for the front desk receptionist when all the room attendants were done cleaning the c/o and stay rooms. The sheets had ciggerate hole's, or rips, had spots on sheets/ pillow cases/ cover's and also the comforter's were only changed when there was a spot on it or change after a month. In and around the toilet and even behind on the wall was NOT getting cleaned properly. Shower curtains had mold spots, from the girls not changing them every 2-3 days. The coffee pot holder for the coffee was not cleaned out right, still gross coffee stains. I also had very rude "room attendant(s) argue with the guests because some of them don't clean the stay rooms when your in it. (there was 2 ppl thats wanted there exchange because some the girls are rude.) I had 7 girls quit and 4 got fired. To top everything off they had ALOT of B.Bugs and no laundry lady, they have 1 of the room attendant's to clean a few rooms and do laundry. I WILL NEVER EVER STAY NOR TELL ANYONE TO STAY THERE IT IS AWFULL FROM MY HEART.

If you only had issues with Bed Bugs in Arkansas your really fortunate. I would think that roaches would be pretty rampant there. Also don't use hotel pillows, do you know who and what has been using them before you? Your most likley better off sleeping in your car at a way side rest stop (if you can ignore all of the gay sex the truckers are having).

I have stayed at Econo lodge in Montreal, while visiting from Ottawa. We went on hotwire and ended up with this hotel. The hotel was dirty and there was hairs on the sheets. It seemed like the place to go to for a quickie. The staff did not care about anything it seemed. We ended up not staying the night, and took off at 2am.
Not a disgruntled ex employee. He/she seems like they are telling the truth.

Choice Hotels International disgusting cleanliness

We checked into the country inn and suites and the only room available was a room next to four chain smoking rooms. The room reeked of smoke. We went back to the service desk and requested a different room. None were available. We were sent to the comfort inn down the street. We were sent up the stairs and the hallway was filthy. There was dirt and grass all over. When we walked into the room, the first thing we noticed was that something had spilled all down the side of the tv. Milk? I went to see the bathroom and you could feel the hairspray on the countertop and the toilet cover. I wiped it off with a wetwipe and the wipe was grey. I then went to check out the bed and there was a hair in it. I tried to call the front desk and phone didn't work. It was late, i was exhauted and already changed into my pj's. Headed off to bed and talked to someone in the morning. Told him of the problems and his response was. I will tell the management, he won't be happy. There was no apology whatsoever. It was a gross experience.

Choice Hotels International crooks

I reserved a room at the hotel for a dog show we were attending held on May 10 and 11th. The hotel was advertised on the back of the dog show premium list as pet friendly. Upon arrival we check in and get our suite(#322). It had no toilet paper and the carpet was nasty. We bring our dogs in and go to unload the car and the clerk tells us there is a "situation". The building doesn't allow dogs because it serves breakfast. I told them I was coming for the dog show and had dogs at the time of the reservation. They moved us from our suite to a small room(#214). We are sound asleep and at 4:30 a.m. there is a loud crashing noise and my husband screams. When I turn on the light I see that the picture above the bed fell off the wall hit the head board and fell on my husband's head. Shattering glass imbedded in my husband's shoulder and glass shards 6"-10" long all over his neck and upper torso and all over the bed, pillows and dog blanket. I removed the glass from my husband's neck so my husband could move and I could clean his wound. I went to get assistance and bandages but the desk clerk didn't know where a first aid kit was. She tried to be helpful but was new to the job and was the only one on duty. They moved us to another room(#217). Again no toilet paper. We went to the front desk at least 3 times to get the manager or owner, or anyone in charge to come to the room and meet with us. The clerk couldn't give us an extra blanket or sheet to replace my dogs blanket now imbedded in glass because she'd "get fired". I asked her to call the manager/owner and she tried several times. When she finally reached the owner we were told to return after the dog show in the afternoon to discuss this mess, the owner was too busy with a "little one". We return and, again, no manager, no owner. The desk clerk said she couldn't call the owner again on their cell phone because she'd "be fired". We were told to go to the other hotel that the owner has, Econo Lodge, we did not go. We went to our room and found my husbands personal pillow lying on the dirty hallway floor. At appx. 2:30 with no one in authority, in sight, I went and found a room at a competitor's hotel. So we moved again. We had a nice room and they actually had breakfast and pet friendly room. The owner of this hotel is Ms. Patel. Choice hotels, who is the Franchisor was of no help and told me it's not their responsability to provide a sheet or blanket for dogs, even though mine is now filled with glass. We got a "gee whiz" "I'm sorry" letter from Ms. Patel telling us how seriously they take our complaint and offering us a free nights stay. What a crock! I plan on contacting the AG's office and am happy to discuss this. This is not the only problem we encountered here and several other people in the hotel were complaining about their stay!

We stayed at the Comfort Inn OK130 on July 1st. The room was very nice, my complaint was when I get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night there were cockroaches in the bathroom. When we got up to pack there was another cockroach on the bed. I spoke to the person at the desk and he said thanks, we will take care of it. So, if you are going to stay at this hotel please ask if they have exterminated room 306

I made on line reservations for $90.00 per night based on photos and descriptions of the hotel. When I got there I was very disappointed. The room was filthy & it smelled + I did not feel secure leaving my car in the parking lot none the less staying there with my family due to the people loitering in the parking lot. I explained the situation with the desk clerk and he informed me that there is nothing that he can do about a refund. During all this a woman was checking in with a newspaper coupon for $15.00 less for the same type of room. After 15 minutes of phone calls I was told that it was not possible to give me a refund. I explained that I was not staying the night and I want a refund. They would not budge. I refused to give up and called to speak to the manager who said that it was not possible, but I did not give up and kept insisting about the refund, seeing that I was not ready to come out of the shoe he agreed to give me discount and vouchers worth $45.00 for future bookings". I agreed. When I received my credit card statement they inflated the room charge to $135.00 then gave the 50% discount. I immediately called American Express & disputed the overcharge & I was redeemed. Oh! by the way...I never received any vouchers in the mail. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS. They should look up the meaning of the word Guaranteed like they state in their advertisements.

Choice Hotels International Front desk

I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Cornelius NC. I was there under contract from Duke Energy. When I checked in i stated that I was there under Duke Energy. Was suppose to have gotten the Duke rate. After staying there for 2 weeks i checked out and asked did I get the Duke rate the lady at the desk told me no I didn't check in under Duke. Told her I did she then got rude and told me it was my tough luck to bad. I work with a company that travels all over the east coast working at power plants. They will be told
not to stay at a Econo Lodge due to this hotel.

Choice Hotels International bed bugs

We spent two free nights at this hotel over the Labor Day Weekend (2009). The lodging was free because we had suffered numerous insect bites on our previous stay there. The hotel indicated that room had fleas. We started breaking out with bites shortly after leaving to go home after staying the second night. I might mention that we have experienced this numerous times, but only complained the one time. Now we are livid. We have spent two weeks of misery with the itching. Our research indicates that the room probably had bed bugs. We have complained and were told that an externinator found nothing in the room. I find that information insulting. We have had this happen in numerous rooms at this hotel. The average tourist probably wouldn't realize where they got bit if only stopping en route to somewhere else. I know this is only seen by the hotel as a minor annoyance, but it was misery and is two weeks of my life that I'll never get back. I believe this hotel is infested with bedbugs and/or fleas. I won't be back even though we go to that region regularly.

Choice Hotels International Smelly, noisy, unsafe hotel

On Thursday, August 13, I made a reservation on the internet for the Hillsboro, Oregon Econolodge. Not five minutes later I realized that I hadn't put the correct day (1 night) so I cancelled the reservation. I then called the Hillsboro Econolodge and made a reservation for the correct night, after they assured me that the other reservation "wasn't in the system" and I wouldn't be charged twice.

The hotel room was stuffy and stunk like wet carpet and cleaning agents. There was mildew on the shower knob. We went to bed aroun 10:30 and that's when the party next door started. Laughing, giggling, girls coming in and out, doors closing/opening, little "secret" knocks and more giggles, you get the picture. Loud talking, laughing and whatever partiers do was going on. My teenaged daughters and I were subjected to this and did not call the front desk as we were afraid. And quite frankly, I got the feeling that there was a lot more going on at the hotel than meets the eye. We were very afraid.

Trying to sleep, the refrigerator had a really loud buzzing sound, so I turned it off. We turned on the air/fan attempting to drown out the party. A lot of unscrupulous people were about and that includes the desk clerk. No thank you, Hillsboro, Econolodge. NEVER AGAIN.

Then I get home and checked my bank account online to find out that I WAS charged twice for the room. It didn't matter that I cancelled within five minutes. It wouldn't have mattered if I cancelled in 1 minute from the time I made the reservation. You, see, you CAN'T cancel a reservation for Econolodge. They refuse to reimburse you and if they decide to, you still have to pay $25 of it to them. This place is a ripoff, fraud, and very dishonest. Their "policy" states that you CAN'T make mistakes in tiny writing at the bottom of their site. So it brings the question, why did the manager say that my reservation "never went through." These people are a disgrace not only to the hotel industry, but to anyone who has the misfortune of doing "business" with them as their business is consumer fraud.

You should have called the front desk. If you wouldn't do that, then call the police. And if you wouldn't do that, then leave and go find a good hotel and report this Econolodge to the franchise.

Choice Hotels International Discriminatioon & Refund Policy

My daughter went off to college this year and I arrived at this econo lodge at the Marion Il, location to stay. All other hotels were booked for this weekend. The reservations were made prior to my arrival. When I arrived there was no staff available for the 1st 4-6 minutes while waiting to check in at the front counter. The lobby and front desk areas were not clean. I rung a beell for assistance that was on the front counter. A female employee came to the front counter with no enthusiasm as if she was interrupted from something more important to checking in guests. I spoke the the attendant and she never responded. I then asked are the rooms cleaned and mentioned the uncleanliness of the lobby area. The attendant totally ignored me. I then asked was a double bed available instead of the 1 king bed only option. The attendant immediately stated I had no reservation and if so, no chnages can be made. I started to show present proof of my on line reservation and noticed the misspelling of my last name. In addtion, I attempted to explain I was told a double bed was an option if available for the same rate. The attendant overtalked me and told me do not point near her face when I was only trying to show her my paper copy of the reservation. When I asked the attendance why is she so rude, she stromed away and brought a male to the counter stating you can not stay here. I asked for a manager and he said he was the CEO & the lady was the general manager. Then he started to yell "Get your black ### ### out of here!" I was stunned. We began to argue back and forth as I demanded a contact number for a corporate office. I requested a refund since I was refused as a guest. The male attendance stated I am not giving you anything and will black list you to stay in the area. My sister started to record what was happening on her cell phone. The male employee then stated if I did not leave he will call the poice and say I hjad a gun and there to rob him. I encouraged that the police be called. When Officer Hillard arrived he walked to the back and closed the door with the male employee. The police officer asked my sister and I to leave since the manager (male employee) did not want us there. I explained what happened and asked the officer to review the survellince tapes. The office stated the tapes are just a theft deterrant and nothing recorded. I then showed our recording and the officer stated this is a civil matter--and would not do a police report. As we left the location I noticed the office and employees laughing and the officer was given a soda. There was another officer by the name J Mahan that was very professional and encouraged us to report this to their corporate office. He also mentiuoned this is not the first time something happen to a guest at this ssame location. I am so disturb how me and my family was treated. I reuqest a refund becuase it was not my choice to leave, therefore I did not breech the agreement. My name is Greg and a contact number for me is [protected] and I would be glad to go in more details.

Absolute worst motel experience: Toilets overflowing, toilets running all night, carpet smells like chlorine/urnine, beds as hard as rock, dirty rooms, no maid service, no clean towels, mgr/owner used "F" Bomb in front of 10 little 9-10 yrs old girls when parents complained, Mgr/Owner sent 10 yrs olds down to tell wedding reception music to please turn down so they could go to sleep instead of doing his job, mgr/owner hid in his office as people complained, water vibrated in pool and floors in rooms vibrated on ground floor from music in basement, no maintenance service, ice machines not working, Poor Poor Service and conditions! We will never stay at Econo-Host again! in Stevens Point, WI.

Choice Hotels International Double charge

I traveled to EconoLodge (OH430) in Worthington, OH for a high school wrestling tournament on 3/5/09. Two rooms were reserved by the team coordinator. Upon check in, I requested to reserve my own room as the motel was empty and I wished to use my AAA discount. The clerk assured me I had the lowest rate available--lower than the AAA rate. Upon check out, I was amazed to see that my VISA had been charge double the nightly room rate and more than double the AAA rate. The clerk would not give me her name or a room receipt. She would only write her initials ("BR") on my VISA receipt. I have contacted customer service to no avail. I received a form letter apology by email addressed to "Dear ___." In the letter, the general manager, Bob Patel, said it would not happen with future customers. I also received $50 in Econoldge coupons which I have no use for.
I would like to be reimbursed for the $100 for which I was deliberately overcharged.

Choice Hotels International SPIDERS

AFTER DRIVING ALL DAY FROM TENN WE STOPPED ON ROUTE 16 AND GOT A ROOM AT THE ECONO LODGE. THE ROOM WAS VERY HOT WE PUT ON THE AIR AND IT TOOK ABOUT 45 MIN. TO COOL DOWN. WE WERE EXHAUSTED, I JUST LAID ON THE TOP OF THE SPREAD AND WATCHED TV, AS I WAS LAYING THERE A BIG BROWN SPIDER WAS WALKING TOWARD ME ON THE BED. MY HUSBAND KILLED IT. HOPING IT WAS THE ONLY ONE AND BEING TO TIRED TO START DRIVING AGAIN WE DECIDED TO STAY. A HALF HOUR LATER ANOTHER BIG BROWN SPIDER CAME OUT AND MY HUSBAND KILLED THAT ONE TOO. THEN, AFTER ABOUT 35 MINUTES, A BIG BLACK SPIDER WAS RUNNING ACROSS THE WALL, WHEN MY HUSBAND TRIED TO KILL THAT ONE IT WAS WAY TOO FAST AND HE COULDN'T GET IT. THAT WAS THE LAST STRAW, WE DECIDED TO LEAVE, KNOWING WE WOULDN'T GET ANY SLEEP THERE. I WENT TO THE FRONT AND TOLD THE CLERK THE ROOM HAD 3 SPIDERS AND WE WERE NOT STAYING, HE TOLD ME WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE ROOM AS WE WERE THERE FOR 2 HOURS. I TOLD HIM WE WERE NOT STAYING AND I WANTED HIM TO SIGN MY RECEIPT AS TO WHAT TIME WE TURNED IN THE ROOM KEYS AND LEFT. HE REFUSED, SAYING WE COULD HAVE SHOWERED AND TAKEN A NAP AND WERE READY TO GO. I TOLD HIM HE COULD CHECK THE THE ROOM, WE HAD NOT TAKEN A SHOWER OR A NAP AS WE WERE BUSY LOOKING FOR SPIDERS. HIS REPLY WAS EVERYONE HAS SPIDER, YOU CAN'T GO 10 FEET WITHOUT SEEING A SPIDER, YOU HAVE SPIDERS IN YOUR HOME EVERYONE DOES. I TOLD HIM I DON'T HAVE SPIDERS IN MY HOME, HE INSISTED I DO AS EVERYONE DOES. WE LEFT, DROVE TO ROUTE 95, TOOK THE FIRST EXIT THAT HAD MOTELS AND STAYED AT THE QUALITY INN. NO SPIDER! VERY NICE CLEAN ROOM.

Choice Hotels International Misrepensation

Reservations for 15 people (7 adults) (8 children ranging 2yrs to 9 yrs). Requested to have 3 side by side rooms. Stated by clerk was no problem. Was told credit card to hold reservation. Gave info requested . Was told even though check in 4 pm could leave luggage in room and go. Was told free shuttle to water park running every 15 minutes. I BELIEVED YOU! Now what I got was, none of the rooms were ready, had to take luggage with us. Did not get 3 rooms side by side. One on different floor. Irons in 2 of the 3 rooms did not work. Was told would bring to room in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later we were checking out and iron was brought to room. Request manager stated would not be in till Monday. Called Monday and Angel Velez (Manager) gave every excuse for what was told to us. Request coperate and he was quick to tell me, there would be no reimbursement. Gave coperate # [protected] INCORRECT. If you need Commercial roofong call them. Very Nice!. Went online for coperate, was told wrong# transfered 8 times (Twice had to call back) and ended up back at orlando hotel talking to Mr.Newbold- General Manger. Quick to state no guarentees on room reservations. Iron was replaced. (for next customer) and then asked was there an adult in room with kids? As stated 8 kids, 2yrs, 5yrs, (3) 6yrs 7yrs, 8yrs and 9yrs. David (Clerk) stated was shuttle for fee per person. NEVER will I book a Econolodge . You get Excuses and Poor Service. Lies and the Runaround.

Choice Hotels International bugs, customer service, ammenities

I recently booked a reservation through Travelocity at the Melbourne Econolodge for Friday, June 12th. Upon arrival at 10pm we were met with a line that was out the door waiting to check in. While we were waiting in line, four separate parties who had just checked in came in complaining that there were no sheets or towels. A fifth person came in and canceled his reservations after he too found no sheets or towels in his room as well as only having one bed instead of two. After 45 minutes of waiting I finally checked in.

When I entered the room I found that not only were there no sheets or towels, but there were no drinking cups, pillowcases, or even toilette paper. Outraged, I went back to the desk which assigned me to a new room that they assured me “was 100% ready” because they “had just been there”. Upon entering the new room I found that there were no pillowcases and found two dead bed bugs in each of the two beds (our reservation was for one king). Again, I went to the desk and they said they would send pillowcases right up, not even addressing the bugs or the bed. Now, at 11:30, after waiting 20 minutes with no pillowcases I went up to the desk and demanded a refund. Bridgette at the front desk assured me she would refund the money to my card after she took care of the now much longer line of people. Completely frustrated and exhausted from the non-existence of customer service and dealing with the incompetence of the Econolodge staff, I stormed out never to return.

I have stayed at Econolodge before but I have never had such a terrible experience. To make matters worse it has been over two weeks and I have not yet been refunded my money as I was promised.

I had an overnight stay at the EconoLodge in Middletown, RI in March 2017. During the evening the rain had come down heavy and only to awake to the parking lot full of bits and pieces of the shingles from the roof causing the debris to fall and hit the cars in the parking lot and my car alone has significant damage. My car is black so this really stands out and it is only a 2017 vehicle. I am pushing to get my repairs covered by the hotels insurance company, but Mr. Patel is not very helpful and it is very frustrating.

I stayed at the Econolodge in Columbia, MO. for almost 3 weeks, spending well over $1000. During that time, I sustained a rib fracture from the slick bathtub. I notified employees of the hotel, but nothing was ever done. I have the ER documentation and the days I was at the hotel. Ever since then, everyone I have dealt with has been EXTREMELY rude. A gentleman hung up on me when I asked for his employee number. I am tired of being treated so appallingly, am in pain (was prescribed Norco), have a witness to the injury, and am going to contact an attorney first thing in the morning. I have tried to be nice, but no one will help me. All documentation is available upon request.

MY SON HANDED HIS CELL PHONE OVER TO THE DESK CLERK, SO I COULD BOOK HIM A ROOM. SHE REFUSED TO TAKE MY CC INFO OVER THE PHONE. MY SON IS NOW SLEEPING IN HIS CAR IN THE PARKING LOT OF A NEARBY WAL-MART. WHY WAS THIS ALLOWED, WHEN I KNOW FOR A FACT, THAT 99% OF THE RESERVATIONS THAT ARE MADE ARE DONE OVER THE PHONE USING A CC. AND NO, THERE WERE ROOMS AVAILABLE. IF ANYTHING AT ALL HAPPENS TO MY SON, I WILL HAVE MY ATTORNEY CONTACTING YOURS. THIS WAS TOTALLY UNAVOIDABLE., THE DESK CLERK WAS RUDE, AND WOULDN'T EVEN LISTEN TO EVERYTHING I HAD TO SAY. OH, I KNOW THAT 1 TYPE OF EACH ROOM IS HELD DUE TO T HE POSSIBILITY OF OVERBOOKING OR A POSSIBLE MAINTENANCE PROBLEM. IN THIS MORNINGS CASE, SHE JUST DIDN'T WANT TO DO HER JOB.

We had a 2 night reservation 10/22 - 10/24/08 at the Paris, Tn. 38242 Econolodge. After a full day's drive we checked in the late afternoon. We were assigned a room # 115. I assume we were the only people staying there as was the entire parking lot was empty. We went to the room and there was dog feces immediately outside the door. We did not bring our bags in and promptly went back to the desk and complained. The receptionist assured us that it would be cleaned up immediately. We then went to dinner.
Upon returning to the hotel 1 1/2 hours later the feces was still not cleaned. I went back to the desk and again complained and wanted to leave. The receptionist got the manager, Tanya. Tanya, at that time, was in the lounge. She, instead of taking immediate action and having it cleaned or offering us another room, blew us off and then instructed the desk clerk to charge me for one night only. And she did as I was billed on my credit card. I left disgusted with this hotel. I would not recommend EconoLodge with this type of customer service. I would rather sleep in my vehicle. Thank you. I should mention that the receptionist was very nice. The manager should be counselled and retrained in customer service and satisfaction or terminated.

The only thing stupider that calling an attorney for an issue like this is posting your name and phone number on an Internet complaint board.

As the others have stated - when you book a room over the phone, you use the credit card to hold the reservation but a card MUST be presented when checking in. This was completely avoidable, had you or your son done a bit of homework ahead of time.

I went to one on the way to Florida- years ago. There were ANTS in the room. Not just one ant. But a group of ANTS. Never again will I go to an econo lodge. I can't even believe they are still around.

Choice Hotels International Rude General Manager

I went to Econolodge to apply for a position. I filled out the application there and went back to the front desk to hand it in and asked for the name of the person to contact for the position. I was given the first name and I asked for the last name because I am collecting unemployment and they require the last name also. The general manager immediately replied with "we don't do unemployment here and this might sound rude but when we lost our jobs we didn't collect unemployment and we don't give last names." She automatically and immediately made assumptions about me when she knew nothing about me or my situation; she was completely out of line and inapropriate.

We picked this hotel as it was the only hotel that accepted pets in that area, we had driven 7 1/2 hrs to get there. We have stayed at Econolodge before & have never had a problem but this property was absolutely disgusting. To start they charged me $10.00 for my pet which ended up with a bad case of fleas, the rugs were black, the beds rocked on the floor when you turned over in the nite, the bathroom was the worst the tub was chipped with black mold all over it and bad pee stains embedded on the floor needless to say we did not shower in that. It cost me 73.69 a night for my dog to get fleas and us to go stinky. The girl at the front desk was to add my points to my stay and guess what she didn't. I will not ever stay there again. As a choice hotel it rated a "0".

At check in, I tell the desk I will be needing extra towels, there will be 4 of us, she tells me to "come back later and get them". (first red flag) I pay for a room for two nights, we drop off our luggage, etc and head straight back out the door. We we get about 11:00 p.m. stop to get out towels, the bathroom is a cesspool of mold! (HUGH red flag) It's late we are tired, we dicide to sleep with the bathroom door shut. Next day same thing, we need more towels..(this is approx 10:00 p.m) the desk tells me to bring my old ones up and she will give me new. I do that, an hour later I'm still waiting on towels. I go back to the desk to get towels, people in lobby, I tell them if your allergic to mold, don't stay here, which prompted the lady at the desk to find me those towels in about 30 seconds. THEN, I get a call from the owner of the motel at almost midnight repremending me for talking about his dirty moldy motel.(third red flag) He claims he did not know, so while I'm talking to him I notice that under the sink on the wall is full of mold. I guess this man ( who appears have had an Indian accent) thought we are supposed to keep quiet about this mold. Lets pretend like we didn't see it. Wished I would have brought my camera with me to show the photo's, but Iwll be sure to add them later.

Please do not make your reservations at the Econo Lodge on Rainbow Boulevard. We had reservations for June 30 & July 1, 2009. When we arrived on June 30th, we found cigarette ashes in the commode, dirt in the bathtub and dried substance on the blanket (it resembled dried semen) that was hard and crusty. The beds were not very comfortable. When we laid down on the mattresses, you sank down in them and they smelled very musty. The door did not secure—there was a huge gap between the door and the facing that could easily been opened from the outside. The entire hotel had a very bad unclean smell. Their continental breakfast consisted of three varieties of boxed cereal and spoiled milk.

The Econolodge chain is disreputable in that their business model is based on for every customer we lose, we gain 7 - 10 news ones.. this is vividly true of their California units.

I stayed at Econolodges in CA, in different cities, over the Christmas holiday... in one there was no hot water as the operator apparently shut everything down after 6 Pm the night before... so at 6 AM the morning after, no hot water and no one to complain to, as facility was locked tight and no attendant around... that was in Mojave CA. In Bakersfield, CA, few if any of the rooms had heat... changing rooms did not result in having a working heat unit. Thus, I froze my aspirations off... since it was very wintery cold

Complaining to corporate has not resulted in any response... thus one can see the hotel chain business model still works... as PT Branum put it" There is a sucker born every minute" so those of us who travel frequently on a low budget need to look elsewhere for economy lodging that includes how water in the morning, heat at night and even a remote control for the TV.

Screw me once.. shame on them, screw me twice, shame on me... no third chance will be afforded these "highway" robbers.. Burn in hell EconoLodge Corporate.. at least it's warm there.. plenty of heat!

Driving cross country we decided to stay in the Elkhart, IN Econolodge for the night. Since we booked the room online the night of our stay we were told that it was nonrefundable. We get to the hotel and find out they put us in a "pet friendly" room that smelled strongly of cat urine. When we tried to get a different room the front desk clerk said they didn't have any other rooms. We figured we could live with the smell since it was already late and we were getting up early. We bring our bags into our room and shut the door. I tried locking it but to no avail. At a closer inspection, I realized the door doesn't even catch and you can push it open from the outside without the key card. The lady at the front desk didn't speak English very well so it was hard to explain the situation from her. I didn't get much sleep that night, obviously...

Only window in room was off an internal court yard that was dark, humid and musty. Low drop ceiling had many water stained panels. Air vent covers were dirty! Poor lighting and had to ask to have light bulb replaced. Hard chunks of unidentifiable matter on carpet even after room was supposedly cleaned. Next day room was not cleaned at all. We were told the Do Not Disturb sign was on the door when they came and they don't come back, even though we had requested daily service. Had to take dirty towels to desk to get clean ones. Mattress was awful. Sheets torn and stained. When making sure we had everything out of our of the room before check out we discovered used plastic cups that were there from previous guests under the edge of the bed. When Manager/Owner was notified of our issues he seemed less than interested and never apologized for our dissatisfaction or thanked us for staying there. No other rooms available in town in our price range or we would have left. We Will Not Go Back!

I spoke with Choice Hotels (which owns the Econolodge) and made reservations for 2 rooms at the Econolodge by the Falls in Ontario, Canada on Victoria Avenue for 3 nights (20, 21, and 22). I got my conformation number. When I returned home on the 23, I had a letter from Econolodge at the Falls in Niagara Falls, New York stating that they were billing me for one room that I had reserved for 3 days at their hotel and didn't show up for (that I reserved the rooms on line). I made my reservations over the phone for 2 rooms. They refused to remove the charge or accept the fact that I wouldn't have make reservations at two hotels for the same days, one room at one hotel and 2 at another.

We resrved a "family suite" at Mackimaw City, MI, Econolodge. The price was right and they advertized a waterpark and free breakfast, BUT...

The "suite" was actually a freestanding shack with rooms so small you can barely fit a full-size bed, and absolutely no room for a crib for our baby(even though the CSR on the phone said it's spacious enough). Both exterior and interior were filthy and in dire need of repair - peeling paint, walpaper coming off the walls, the floor was "giving in" under your feet. Evident water damage. My son's allergic to mold, and he started having running nose and difficulty breathing withing 20 minuter of arrival. Needless to say, we checked immediately out and demanded a refund, which we were given ... only after a call from our lawyer.

Upon entering the hotel they were red flags, but at the time I had very few choices. The clerks were not very attentive, they were multitasking, but the other tasks they were doing were obviously personal. Upon entering the room it was obviously not as clean as could be and there was sent of cigarette smoke in a non-smoking room.
I then went to the bed and pulled down the sheets and it were signs that the bed had and slept in before the pillows had hair, make up on them . I then contacted one of the staff To remake the bed with clean sheets. I knew that it would be completely fruitless to complain to the management. There are just so many things wrong with this place it is completely incredible to me that they actually have a two star rating, The place is basically a homeless shelter. They should not be selling rooms to the general public. I would suggest that Econolodge remove them from their franchise. I will never stay in another Econolodge in my life. From this point on I will not rent a room without visiting it prior. It was a bad experience. Fortunately I did not have to stay in the room any longer than I needed to.

Pre authorized my card. Tied up my money and asked me to pay again.. Now it will take 7 days to drop off my account. A 80.00 night stay cost me 160.00. Yeah I will get my money back but I have no money until 7 days... So much for my trip... To top it off. The shower curtain is moldy and the toilet was stopped up.. Toilet was fixed but over all upkeep of this place is POOR

Choice Hotels International rip off

A few months ago they made some crazy offer for me to try out a program and said I would receive a gas card and whatever else in the mail for trying. I would get to keep these, even if I canceled my trial. All this is fine, except that I completely forgot about it because I never received anything. I happened to log into my bank account tonight to see "[protected] POS PRE-AUTH CHK TLG*EVDAYGUEST" taking out $119.99 ... I had to GOOGLE it to find an answer and it lead me to this complaint board and some others.. and Since this is a part of Choice Hotels, which I did use a few months ago, I put two and two together so here I am. Ripped off of over $100 and ticked off!

This hotel is the worst place I have ever been to in my entire life. My room was infested with roaches and the front desk attendant did nothing about it. He was well aware of the problem and didnt find it to be a big deal. I would not recommend staying at Quality Inn & Suites to anybody unless you are ok sleeping with roaches on your pillow. This place should be shut down...

Avoid staying at Comfort Inns. I stayed at the one in Skokie and had a major issue. When I called the corporate office all they said was that they had no authority over the individual hotel and thus they could not do anything.

To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Armando Martinez and I’m employed for Lockheed Martin at Fort Worth, Texas and my wife, Donna, works for the Government as a Realty Specialist also in Fort Worth and I’m writing this letter to Quality Inn & Room Stays.com for basically ruining my vacation at Galveston, Texas. It was an extremely unpleasant and upsetting experience for me, my wife and children and being taken advantage and loss of money.

We Checked-In to Quality Inn & Suites Galveston (see address below) on June 7, 2012 and Checked-Out on June 9, 2012. On the morning of June 9th, my wife balanced our checking account and found we were Double-Charged for one room by RoomStays.com for staying at the Quality Inn & Suites Galveston (see below).

Quality Inn & Suites Galveston
5924 Seawall Blvd
Galveston, Texas 77551

I immediately called RoomStays.com Customer Service. They told me that we had reserved two rooms at Quality Inn & Suites Galveston and I told them that this was not true. When we arrived at Quality Inn & Suites Galveston, we were given keys for one room for me, my wife and children to stay in. I was never told that we had two rooms reserved under our name. If that was the case, I could’ve resolved this issue the day we Checked-In. I do not understand why Quality Inn & Suites Galveston did not tell me we had two rooms?

Anyhow, RoomStays.com Customer Service called the manager of Quality Inn & Suites Galveston and explained the situation to the manager. The manager spoke to RoomStays.com Customer Service and they went ahead and charged us for the room we never stayed in and were reimbursed for only one night. I argued with manager to point that I told him to call 911 for being robbed and he told me to leave the premises and his property. My wife upset was upset and scared we started packing immediately.

I didn’t know what to do so I spoke to the manager again and I explained to him that as a consumer that I had been screwed and he would’ve done the same being in the same situation. He did give us a discount to stay another night but I stayed to appease my wife and children. I was embarrassed, humiliated and actually felt discriminated. I felt the same every time I walked through the lobby or when I walked by a Quality Inn Representative. Anyhow, I only received one confirmation email from RoomStays.com with the following information:

Itinerary Number: [protected]
Confirmation Number: [protected]
1 Room: Two Queen Beds Ocean View Accessible
Guest: Donna Martinez
2 Adults. 2 Children

I did not receive any other emails from RoomStays.com before I Checked-In to Quality Inn & Suites Galveston; we were only given keys to only one room and never told I had two rooms by Quality Inn. I want immediate reimbursement and compensation for my dreadful experience with Quality Inn Corporation. I hope I do not have to seek legal counsel on this situation.

I will never order from the chef depot again. Although I am pleased with the items I ordered the customer service was poor. I spoke with Jessie and he was very rude and unprofessional. He sounded angry and made me feel as though i was wasting his time. My greatest regret is that I didn't record my conversations with him. Maybe ordinary customers aren't as important as restaurant owners or top chefs. I would like to speak to the owner and and express the need to provide quality service to all of his customers. A good customer service rep makes deposits not withdrawals. I recommend customer service training and anger management classes for Jessie. All I wanted to do is return an item and reorder the correct item. Jessie should not be allowed to represent this company!

I called the hotel before I checked in and was told by someone who identified himself as the manager that it would $118 for the first night, the hotel had a pool and it would be $149 for 2 additional nights. When I actually got to the hotel, I was charged $219 for 1 night and was told that I was unable to cancel the reservation the first night and that the hotel didn't have a pool. I then called the Comfort Inn 800 line to file a complaint, and the rep was able to get the clerk to drop the price down to $139 +8%. I was told by the manager that the hotel used a gym pool but it was only open during certain hours. The rep with the 800 line took it upon themselves to drop the complaint. When I talked to other hotel patrons, they stated they had the same problem with overcharging, and the manager stated he was running out of rooms, but the hotel maids stated that there were plenty of rooms. I will not be staying at another Comfort Inn again if this is how your managers behave.

While my friend was staying at a Comfort Inn and stepped out of her room for coffee, a security camera caught on film a guy (who was staying in the same motel, a workman working on remodeling) who snuck into her room through a closed window, stole her purse and left again. The police were terrific, but the manager would "comp" her only for one night instead of two. They're lucky she's not suing. Think of the next young woman you know and tell her Comfort Inns don't care about her security.

BEWARE of this hotel. After paying for two nights in Memphis, my boyfriend and I went to Beale Street our second night and our debit card was rejected, stating that we had reached our withdrawal limit for the day of $1, 000.00, which was NOT right. Sure enough, after consulting our bank account, the EconoLodge we were staying at had charged our card FOUR separate times in the same night. This was nearly an $880.00 unauthorized charge made by Econolodge in the course of a single day. My boyfriend called the front desk instanty and they had no clue on how to handle the situation (REFUND OUR MONEY? you took it out, you can put it back in!), they were rude, and acted as if WE had our information wrong. After nearly an hour of discussing the matter and being on hold, my boyfriend finally reached someone who assured us the situation was resolved. Low and behold, once back in Arkansas, our account HAD NOT been refunded. My boyfriend spent hours on hold trying to find someone who knew what the heck they were doing, while Choice Hotels held on to over $800.00 of our money for a $200.00 hotel stay. Finally, he reached someone who assured him the matter would be investigated and resolved within 72 hours. Wow, thats fast...Not. The next day my boyfriend received 3 calls while at work, an environment in which he cannot answer his phone, and was left a hateful voicemail by a customer service rep who not only got his last name entirely wrong, but declared that if he did not call back at once the matter would not be resolved. He called the next day, and they asked for personal bank information while he was sitting in his office, etc, etc, I cannot begin to describe the rudeness and unprofessionalism and waste of our time! Finally we were told the money would be credited back within 48 hrs. We shall see. In the meantime, we requested a free night, and were DENIED! They were nice enough to refund our $20.00 parking pass...thanks a million, EconoLodge. Not only this, but we were underwhelmed by our stay and the overall condition of the hotel. The downtown Memphis hotel is dirty, outdated, has an unfriendly and slow staff, and the best part was the cleaning lady opened the door on us after knocking once at 9 am the second day of our two night stay. Then she never came back, and rudely told US we should have put a do not disturb sign on the door when we saw her in the hallway. The rooms were dirty, and you could hear everything going on in the next room. WE WILL NEVER STAY AT A CHOICE HOTEL AGAIN!

When we went to check in we were told that dogs were not allowed but we had made a reservation with a dog included. So they decided they had to honor the reservation. Recently they had decided not to allow dogs. Having a dog is the only reason we stayed here. Well the place was dirty. They were refurbishing the place. I saw spiders in the room and then a ### roach ran across my husbands bed. We were so upset about the cockroaches (more showed up) that we slept with the light on to try to keep them at bay. I often travel with a dog and if the place is not good enough for my dog then it isn’t good enough for me. Since they didn’t want my dog staying there I should have figured out that it wasn’t going to be a good place!

This is the first Quality Inn we have stayed at and it will be the last one. I just wish they had a LaQuinta in the area. They are clean and take dogs. Imagine that.

I booked a room in Econolodge (Niagra falls-US) for the memorial day weekend. Just one night before our scheduled departure, my 2 yr old son fell sick (high temperature and coughing). We thought he'd be ok by next morning ... but next morning his condition worsen. I decided to cancel the trip and called Econolodge to cancel the reservation. To my surprise, the GM of hotel Mr. BS Patel, says that he would still charge me because they have a 48 hrs notice deadline. Mr, Patel does not understand that the health issues (specially of a 2 yr old) are not predictable under any set timeline. He surely must refund the money but argues that he won't. I am looking for options to get the money back.

Choice Hotels International Charge for NonUse of Rooms Cancelled

I cancelled a reservation fourteen days prior and was told that they had a 15 day cancellation policy. I never had this in writing and they still charged me FULL price for two rooms for two nights--$860.00. I tried the credit card company and they tried to get my money back. I filed a complaint with NY State Attorney General and still they wont budge. I am irate and would like to tell Syracuse U. to no longer recommend this hotel. When I called 1-800-ECONOLODGE they also knew nothing of this policy. I had asked for confirmation letter when I booked and never received it. I am appalled and still looking into all avenues to get my money back. I would like to advise everyone to never use an Econolodge hotel if they know whats good for them

I suggest you file a complaint with your CC company. This is what is known as services not rendered. Because a motel is not a tangible product that you can hold in your hand, it then becomes a service. If you did not receive the service, you have a right to have your money back.

Choice Hotels International fraudulent billing

My husband checked in to the Econolodge 1/3/2009 at 9:30 pm checked out the next a.m at 5:30. We received 2 seperate charges on the 3rd and again on the 8th. The desk clerk who can barely manage English can not find us in the computer when she finally does says yes, yes you stay 2 nights. I say don't be silly of course we didn't an error has been made, now I'm still fully expecting my refund an an apology-not so fast I am not even permitted to speak to the owner/manager Saeed so I call the corporate office to complain. Evidently they don't care about me or my complaint either they said my husband registered for 2 nights we have to pay for 2 nights. Still expecting my refund and an apology because I mistakenly think they want my business I said o.k so it was a mistake on our part but since we did not stay in your hotel, use your resources or cause you to lose business snce the hotel was not full can I have my refund? Corporate HQ tells me to go pound salt-guess they don't want my business after all. Please, oh please don't give them yours either. It's not like you'll be missing out on a spa like experience or anything. Take your $101.99 to another cheap hotel that is not part of the Choice International chain. Thank you, Nancy Williams

Choice Hotels International not canceling a reservation when it was requested

Made a reservation on Dec. 12, 2008 because there was an ice storm in upstate NY and we had lost power. After making the reservation our plans changed and I called and said I wanted to cancel the reservation. The person who took my call was talking to me while she was talking to someone else in the background. She proceeded to tell me that the computer was down and she would take my name and make the cancellation a little later when the computer came back. Well, needless to say, she did not do what she said she was going to do. My credit card was charged $85. I called to fix the "mistake" and was told that I didn't call to cancel that's why my card was charged and that the computer was not down on that day, even though that is what I was told by the pre-occupied person at the front desk who answered the phone. I have contacted Choice Hotels Customer Relations and filed a complaint. I am still trying to get a hold of a manager at this hotel. I was told that the owners of the hotel are in India. Great huh?! They have 7-10 days to get back to me after the complaint is filed. I will continue to call to get my credit of $85. And I will NEVER make another reservation at an Econo Lodge .

I am just beginning a battle with an "Econo Lodge" in Monterey, CA. I was also charged for a room I did not stay in. I was mislead by the manager and the room smelled of a pungent odor which I believe was some kind of chemical used to cover up another odor which could be any source unknown. My friend has respiratory allergies and we were only standing in the room for about 2 minutes. We went elsewhere after returning the keys, and were told the room was "used" and they had a receipt (for the charge to my credit card) that said I had checked in! Unbelievable! Bad service, unclean rooms and misleading me about use of a roll away bed...I am not going to sit back and take this abuse of a profit hungry motel franchise that has NO customer service skills!

Choice Hotels International accused of theft of linen

Charged our credit card $25.00 for theft of towel/washcloth. We did not steal linen. When we called to ask about the "unauthorized" charge on our card, the staff was rude, uncaring. This issue is still unresolved w/the hotel. Do not stay at this hotel. I am personally making this attempted "extortion" a mission to inform all who stay at this hotel of their crude dealings.

Choice Hotels International Dirty room and poor service

On June 21st 2008 we checked in late at the Econo Lodge on 2020 N.W. Stallings Dr. Nacogdoches, TX 75964 tel. #[protected]. We have noticed dirty sheets and the rooms smelled terrible with cigarette smoke. The following morning making coffee we also noticed the coffee pot was very dirty. We went to the office to put in a complaint.

The Mgr. (Vina Patel) was out and the desk clerk (Fabiola) reached her by cell phone. Mrs. Patel would not talk to us and informed us through Fabiola that we should have put in a complaint last night. In response we stated that it was too late to complain, we were exhausted after a long drive from Flint Michigan. Mrs. Patel instructed Fabiola to tell us that she will be calling us on our cell to get more information later that day.

Of course Mrs. Patel never called.

On the way back to Michigan we spend the night in a different Hotel (spend less $$$ than the stay at Econo Lodge) and the cleaning ness and service was like day and night comparing to our stay at Econo Lodge.

We were very sickened with the trashy room and the service Econo Lodge was offering and we would like to hear from the Econo Lodge Corporation.

We traveled from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. the next day to Niles Ohio from Florida because my daughter was having a baby. She called on 7/2/16 to inform us her water had broke and she was ready . We made the trip and saw the baby being born 7/3/16 at 6 a.m. We were exhausted and drove to the Econolodge on hwy. 422 (Youngstown Pkwy.) and the manager had us pay 20.00 for an early check in so we could take a nap and shower. We stayed at the hotel until 7/6/16 and checked out that morning. The problem is our room was only cleaned one time the entire stay at the hotel. We had to empty our own trash and go to desk to get clean towels. We ran out of toilet paper until a roll was finally set on back of commode for us to put on. We tried to go eat the breakfast offered but most days there was nothing left by 8 a.m. . I spoke to a manager on check out and all she could say was this was not tolerable about our room and apologized and made excuses that they had a lot of check outs and maid was busy. Maid turned in report no service required to office on our room. We followed instructions to leave card on bed for linen change and towels on floor in bathroom to be picked and fresh put in. If not for the happy occasion we were there for this brought us stress during this time and disappointed us about the Econolodge experience. Which is very unfortunate I have stayed Econolodge before and never was treated like this at any other location I would have thought some type of compensation should have been in order for our disappointing stay.

We just got back from our vacation or I would have contacted you sooner. On Jan 1, 2016 we stopped at your Econolodge at 1210 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL, 36571. Checked in at 6:45 PM. We were checked in by hjones. This was the worst room in all my travels. The only reason we stayed at all is because we had been traveling for 12 hours and was too tired to get back on the hwy. Picture one is what the rug looked like all over. Picture two is the filthy walls. Picture three is of the dirty bath tub. Picture four is the dirty bath floor. Picture five is the other corner in the bath. Picture six is the missing door security lock. Pictures seven and eight are mold behind the bed. Picture 9 is the moldy air conditioner and picture 10 is typical of the condition of the furniture. We spoke with Bernadette about this at check out and all she would do is refund us $26.32. Not even an apology.

My company had booked my me in for 14 days. although I do not expect great service nor leisure amenities however, I've called front desk for an ironing board I had to pick it up myself, the rooms are group to little crusters house and not link to the main building, it is January and is -12 outside. according to their own printing of advertising in house hotel directory: said provide coffee all day, I am assuming coffee maker and coffee with sugar cream like most hotel have, no not this one, ask them about it, they front desk person said oh, and continued to sip on her Robins coffee. The door frame is almost off the wall, had to push back in, don't feel so secure. I had been travelling with work for about 2 months and been staying at hotel in different city, first time here in Econo Lodge. I had never been a materialistic person nor need much service. The end of the day, you end up spending more then you may thought you save from a budgeted hotel after 14 days, what you pay for coffee and breakfast daily adds up. better off to spend a coupon extra dollars and stay elsewhere. Their Breakfast is really not a perks: stall bread for toast and stall cereal, seem been their for months, coffee. I am sure it is? what a shame that a hotel in canada can have this type of service and environment and consumer still contribute to their existence. I suppose to each its own.

I have been a customers here at the econo lodge here in Augusta, ga on Washington rd. for about six month until I find a place to live the hotel is very nasty, noisy and full of drug users and prostitutes and the people here have been busted for crack cocaine and meth and weed. I have watch the general manger of the hotel Mr. carlos otaro run in and out of these room smoking drugs with the guest and sleeping with the prostitutes and stand outside smoking drugs with employees. the young lady that stay here Ashley Ryan never pays for the room as long as she sleeps with general manger and do cocaine this hotel is very unprofessional and I have contacted the cooperate office and labor department and police department. report it to general manager doesn't help when does these things with the guest and im sure the staff could make statements on this issue I hope cooperate take care of this matter.

I stayed in econ lodge in Richardson, Tx off 75 this weekend. I was charged 3 times for the room. I booked and paid $300 on priceline to stay Fri-Mon. When I checked in I told clerk that I paid on priceline and he still swiped my card without saying anything. I figured probably for incidental charges. At checkout I see my receipt had a charge for $241.35 for the stay. I asked the assistant mgr and he states they didn't get voucher from priceline. But to contact priceline and they will refund my money. Hmmm, okay but since priceline charged me more than the hotel was charging I didn't have a problem with that. I contact priceline and they say hotel is at fault and will refund the money. I check my account today and Econo Lodge charged me again. So instead of refund for $241.35, I know have total $482.70 by econo lodge, let alone $300 charged by priceline the week before.

My fiance and I rented a room at the Econo Lodge in Union City, GA. The room smelled of urine and the toilet when flushed would seem like it was getting ready to overflow. My fiance and I decided to leave and he went to the front desk to get a refund. The little man at the front desk had the nerve to insult me and my fiance by saying he knew all my fiance did was have sex with me, no refund. How dare he! He lied to us by saying the manager would be there the next morning which they were not, he lied to the cops and told them we were there an hour.(By the way, Union City Police are great!)
I would not recommend this hotel to any of my family, friends or other consumers. I guarantee they won't be in business much longer. Trust me.

this hotel took 150.00 from my account and said we were smoking in the room which we were not as we had our children and grandchild with us I am appalled we would never put our children in danger of second hand smoke we did smoke outside which was allowed as there were signs and ashtrays outside that said smoking permitted on premises they refused to give me my money back so I have opened a claim with my bank I have filed a complaint with the hotel and have sent a letter to the better business bureau I should have filed a complaint for false advertisemnet the photots online made the hotel look beautiful but it was a dump but we just figured lesson learned know what your getting before you pay ask to look inside and check things out if I had wanted a smoking room I would have gotten one and I would have gotten a separate room for the children but we have never smoked indoors so we never had a problem going outside I just feel it was al a big scam Thanks

Stay away from this place! Broken Air conditioners, lousy internet service and owners who are beyond rude! They play lets make a deal with rates (low for some, scamming others) and will throw you off of the property if you complain. Desks clerks are rude and unprofessional. The old Indian lady who owns the place will simply make you leave if you have a complaint about ANYTHING including maintanance. Rip off!

We stayed at Econo Lodge on July 18 & 19, 2017. During our stay we had dirty sheets on the beds. We had an extra adult which we had to pay extra for but received no extra towels. When we went to use the towels in the room they had hair balls in some. Others were dirty and stained. On white towels that is gross. They claimed there was wireless internet free of charge. We could not connect to internet. The room was very dirty. Next when we wanted to bath a child in the tub there was not plug to stop water. So the only choice was a shower. The sink had no plug as well, but it did back up if you ran water in it. We had one bar of soup and a hair dryer. Most places have bath stuff in the rooms. Not this room. And for breakfast a full continental breakfast? Cereal, toast, packaged muffins, coffee, & orange juice wasn't what we expected. Sorry but we will think twice before we stay there again. We could of stayed at Confort Inn for $10 more.

On April 1st, 2017 my family and I checked in to the Econo Lodge in Henderson, NC. We stayed in rooms 210 and 212, we were there for a funeral. Both rooms were a disgrace. Room 210, a king size room had a filthy bath tub. You could see the dirt stains on the tub, the shower wall and the shower curtain. Room 212 was just as bad. All of the beds, the king and the doubles in room 212 had dirty bed spreads on them. The bedspread in 210 was not only dirty on the top when I pulled it down to turn in for the night I found what appeared to be dried up pie crust. Just disgusting. There was no tissue in the tissue box, and room 212 had no tissue box at all. There was caked up dust everywhere. The windows had fingerprints and dirt all over them. Room 210 you had to slam the door for the lock to catch or it would pop back open. In room 212 the ironing board was left standing, my guess by the previous guest. The furniture was mixed pieces that did not match. The tables were chipped. If I wasn't in a rush to get to the service I was attending I would have checked out and stayed at the local hotel. I would think staying at a nationwide chain such as Econo Lodge that the dwelling would be up to par. I would not recommend this hotel to my German shepherd much less a person. I was and still am very disgusted by the conditions of the rooms. I would never stay at another Econo Lodge. My name is Ramona Conner and the room was booked under my husband's name Merril Conner

I stayed at your hotel in Somerset Pa. 125 Lewis Drive this past weekend, 7-16-15 thru7-19-15. It was nice stay, the problem is I left a set Pajamas in the room 111.I called to see if they found them and they did ask them to send them to me, said i had to send a pre-paid box and they would ship back to me. Well the Post Office can't send a pre-paid box the box has to be weighed with the clothes in it .So we can't get the articles back. They are very light weight.I just can't believe that the hotel won't shipped it to me.It is very disappointing that they won't help us.I do know that i won't recommend your hotel to anyone.

June 11, 2017

Dear Mr. Nick Patel,

My name is Deborah Simpson. The reason I am contacting you is that June 8th, 9th, and 10th our family had a Family Reunion and we had a chance to stay at Econo Lodge, in Rock Hill, SC. I have stayed in other Econo Lodges and needless to say, our stay wasn't pleasant. First let's start with the charge on my debit card. Enclose is a copy of my receipt show I was suppose to have been charged $133.18, but when I pulled up my bank statement this is what I was charged.:
06/11/12 CHKCARDECONO LODGE ROCK HI SCUS   $143.97, this is a $10.79 difference. In room 230 when we checked into our room, there was a big hole in the bathroom door and bathroom floor was dirty. We reported that the same night we were in the room. On June 9th, my grandchildren came in and we were given room number 210. We were told that was the only room left. This room was a disaster, the shower rod was tore out of the wall, the knobs on the sink didn't work. You couldn't hardly use the sink. The tub was dirty, so they had to use the showers in other families members rooms. All the rooms were suppose to be together but they weren't. 225, 230, 231, 210, 111, 110 and 109. Room 231 the wash clothes looked dirty and we had to go to the office and get more. I believe the gentleman that work the mornings we were there was named Jim. He was a very nice man and has outstanding customer service skills.

Mr. Patel, I don't appreciate being given a receipt for one price and being charged another on my card. That's no way of handling business. When customers come to the Lodge they expect to have clean rooms, towels and wash clothes. I don't know if you are aware of complaints we had at your business, but this looks bad on you being a General Manager. I do expect to receive the money I was over charged on my card. I will also be sending copies of this letter to the main office and to the BBB.

Sincerely,

Deborah Simpson

I work for a hotel that is part of the Choice Hotels chain and I am very familiar with the Choice Privileges program. For the free night stays, those are part of seasonal promotions and they must be booked through ChoiceHotels.com in order to be valid and must also be redeemed through choiceprivileges.com. You cannot walk into a hotel and say you want to redeem your free nights, it wont work that way. Regular points are earned through any otehr stay at any of the Choice Hotels. All Choice hotels are required to post brochures, materials, and mats at the front desk explaining ALL these features. If by chance someone did not tell you the specifics, blame the hotel staff not the Chain. Front Desk staff are supposed to be trained to offer and explain the free program to every guest.
