FISGlobal.com / Certegy declined check

I went to buy groceries and left my wallet and used a check out of my glove box to cover my groceries. When I went to check out, my check was declined because of something with Certegy from 2004. I was given Corporate number of Publix. I called them. They gave me Certegy's number. I called them and they could see where I owed $25 for a NSF check back from 2004 but were UNABLE to process my request or to take a payment?!?!

So they give me another number to call. I waited online for 37 minutes and finally get a hold of the most SARCASTIC and RUDEST associate I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with! I spoke to Virginia at Certegy Tech Services, Customer Care Department. She is the epitomy of POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN PUBLIX STORES AGAIN. Nor will I shop at stores that use Certegy's Services! There are too many options out there for me to deal with this kind of BS. You can want and want for that $25 fee ALL YOU WANT, but I dont have the TIME OR PACIENTS TO DEAL WITH POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Just let me pay the stupid fee and get ON WITH MY LIFE, CERTEGY!

FISGlobal.com / Certegy scam artists

I went to Rec Warehouse today to look at spa tubs that were on sale. We were going home to measure the patio to ensure that the spa selected would be a good fit. To hold the spa we selected, I put down $100 for the spa. Cetergy denied the check. When I called the 800 number, they confirmed that they have no negative information in my file, but that I fit a "profile". When i asked what that profile was, they advised me that they oould not disclose that information? I went back to Rec Warehouse and advised them that I would not be purchasing the $5, 000 spa I selected based on their relationship with a company that would deny a check for someone with no negative history on record and based simply on a "profile".

I was in a bad accident and became totaly and permanently disabled. I had written a check at a store, left, and had the accident. I just got out of the hospital and while opening my mail, got a final notice from Certegy Collections. I called them to explain why the check was not paid and alls they had to say was that if the check is not paid in full, they will report it to my credit report, they will not let me work out any type of payments and I have very little money right now and can't pay the bill in full. The manager said, "The checks 5 months old and you had no problem writing it before your accident...". These people are going to court!

FISGlobal.com / Certegy check acceptance denial

After spending three hours at Lowe's finding the products I needed on my day off, Sunday, my company check was declined for NO REASON available. I spend a huge amount with this particular Lowe's store every year and had just used eleven of the my same company checks in one month. NEVER has a check of mine bounced or any problems occurred. This was one of the most humiliating, embarrassing things thats ever happened to me. Customers were waiting behind me in the check-out line and also local employees of Lowe's added to this fact. I am a well known local businessman with one of my company checks that is 100% valid, but I'm told otherwise, and in public to make matters worse. I left almost $700.00 in products and went elsewhere. What else could I do? The saddest part of it all is, no matter how many times I asked the Lowe's manager or called Certegy Check Services why this happened, NO EXPLANATION could be given. Well, that's not going to fly. I did not sign a contract with Certegy Check Services asking them for permission to use my checks at Lowe's. Nor have I ever been approached from Lowe's concerning this issue. I seriously think legal action is in order here. This type of injustice is wrong and I cannot see how it can be legal. My rights have been violated and yours also, if this type of wrongful treatment has occurred to you. Corporate America has lost sight, or simply does not care, and we the people, the true America, must defend ourselves and our country. A criminal should be ashamed of his deeds and many are punished accordingly, but an honest hard working citizen should not be publicly displayed and punished as a criminal. Sincerely, Bobby Neal Carty / Budget Inn Express - 180 East Mountain Parkway, Salyersville, KY 41465

Same thing happened to me today. Very upsetting. Lady on 800 # was very uninformative & couldn't understand her accent. If I cannot write a check with MORE than enough funds to cover my purchase, then my $ will go elsewhere! Totally agree w above statement. Very humiliating.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy refusal to approve check

Had a new timing belt and fan belt installed on Toyota Tundra on 8/18/09. I gave them a check for the total amount but when they attempted to process it through Certegy, it was refused. An employee of the parts department came to my rescue since I had purchased a house and six acres of land from him and paid with a check. He told the accounting department to cash the check, and they reluceantly followed his instructions. If he had not done that, we would have had to use a credit card. We are retired people who write very few checks except to pay routine monthly bills. It is obvious that Certegy did not consult with either of the banks we use before refusing to approve the check.

I would be interested in joining a class action law suit against Certegy.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy - declined to cash paroll check

My husband went to hammond walmart to cash his payroll check, walmart refused to cash it stating certergy check services would not approve the check being cashed. FISGlobal.com / Certegy check refusal

I tried to write a check for a purchase and the check was refused by Certegy. I have not written a hot check ever. I have an excellent credit rating. When I called Certegy they told me that there was nothing wrong with my writting a check, but if I would fill out a 3 or 4 page report this would be taken care of. Screw Certegy and AS. If you want my business I would think that you would clear this up. If I do not hear from you my family will not ever trade at AS. I will also make it a personal goal to tell everyone who will listen how I was treated.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy fraud and check refusal

My name is Mary Jane Woodman-Brazle and I reside in Urbandale, Iowa.
I too have been flagged to write checks on either my joint account held with my
husband as well as my personal account both at the same bank.

My situation developed when I wrote a check at T. J. Maxx on April 5th, 2009.

Someone either at T. J. Maxx or it's depository bank, in this case Wells
Fargo. Took my routing and transit number and my account number from my
check and passed it along to someone in Chicago who encoded those numbers on
another personal check drawn on U. S. Bank in the account holder's name of
Jeremy D. Tyree of 9911 VanVlissingen, Chicago, Il.60617, using what I've been
told is a fraudulent Illinois Driver's License #[protected]-328T. Those
check items began clearing my personal account and started overdrafting my
account as the thief wrote checks at various midwestern retailers in Illinois,
Indiana, Minnesota, etc.

My Bank closed my account after about a week and issued me a new account
number for my protection. I filed a police report with the Urbandale Police Department and the case was assigned to Detective Dwight Taylor case
#09-916.

After about a week I was informed that there were two other victims which
also had the same thing happen to them, one being my personal friend and
co-worker who I had been shopping with that day, Sonja Smith. Her account information was also released and encoded on checks being
passed in Texas. The third victim, we later found out was a secretary for a local attorney here in Des Moines. Since I do not personally know this
third victim, I will leave her name unknown.

About after the second week after the fraud began I was rejected from writing a check at Petsmart and instructed to call Certegy for more information,
which I did that same day. When I contacted them their representative was unable to tell me why my check was denied and told me he would send me an
application to again permit me to write checks. It took another two weeks to receive that application, but by then I was also denied check writing
priveledes at my own store of J. C. Penney's, where I have worked for five years. This still contines to this date!

When I called Certegy on the second denial at J. C. Penney's I was told that I was being denied check acceptance due to checks being passed at various
retailers such as Bed, Bath and Beyond, CVS Pharmacy and now I find apparently Marshall's (ironically also part of the conglomorent of T. J. Maxx). All these check items were fraud and all of the same instance.

Certegy instructed me that I would have to fill out yet another form, an Affidavit of Forgery. It took another ten days to receive that form and I completed that form and returned it to them along with a copy of the Police Report, an notarized statement from my bank, my social security number and driver's license, copies of the fraudulent checks that my bank could provide me and four referenced claim numbers provided by Certegy. I mailed this information back to them Priority Mail on June 4th and show they received it on June 8th @ 11:38 AM. I sent these items specifically to Mr. Orilles Eugene, Sr. Fraud Information Specialist of their Customer Care
Department.I called T. J. Maxx Corporation in April with my concerns and asked to speak to their security division and their customer service representative
refused to allow me to speak to anyone in that department.

I waited yet another two weeks and attempted once again to write a check in my own store at J. C. Penney's and again I was denied, but this time I was given a phone number to call within J. C. Penney's, a Customer Service number. When I called there they asked for my store number and associate number which I provided and when they found I was the one that had been denied check writing priveleges they checked to see if they had collections pending against me, which they did not. They again referred me to Certegy.

Once again, I called Certegy calling Mr. Orilles Eugene's extension where I received a recorded message that promised a call back within 48 hours. I
got absolutely no response from him or anyone else at Certegy. This was June 29th.

A life long friend, who happens to be an influential attorney in Oklahoma City happened to call me shortly after that time and when I told her this story,
she had me promise her I would contact the local U. S. Attorney's Office concerning the matter. I did so the following business day and was told the representative would call me back. After about a week I got a call back and was told to request that my Police Detective forward the case to them.

I went to see Detective Taylor to request the fraud case information to be forwarded to the U. S. Attorney's office and the F. B. I. Detective Taylor advised me that this case was insignifigant to the F. B. I. because they were concentrating on terrorist
activites and basically this case was "small potatoes", so I still am unaware as to the case forwarding request.

Again, yesterday, I attempted to write a check at J. C. Penney's and yet
again I was denied. Again, I called the J. C. Penney Customer Care number and again was given grief about calling on myself to inquire about the status. I was promised a call back which never came but was advised that Certegy had not cleared me for check writing privleges. So again today, July 31st, I called Certegy and again left a message for Mr. Eugene and again the recorded message was a promise for a call back within 498 hours. I then called Certegy Customer Service number and was told one of the claim numbers was not cleared but was given no other reason for that. Their representative said she would forward it on to someone fro more review and that hopefully I would hear back today, but that would depend on the authority of that person taking the request. I then called Penney's Customer Service
and they agreed to call Certegy on my behalf to see what they could do. They called me back and told me to call Certegy at a different phone number, which I did. According to Penney's Certegy could provide me a "password" to clear my name. When I called Certegy as directed I was told I would have to request the password in writing and that upon receipt of my better it would take another 10 days to 2 weeks to get it.Also please note that on June 22nd, 2009 Certegy had approved me for "Certegy Gold" status in check writing privildges, so how's that for Ironic?

I also called our State Attorney's Office, Tom Miller to see if they could assist. Again ironically the Consumer Fraud appointee was out of the office delivering a speech about consumer fraud so I had to leave my call back number for a call back on Monday.

Just thought you might be interested in this ongoing dilemna.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy writing checks

I have had trouble writing checks @Best Buy & Walgreens. This company is a joke and retailers shouldn't go by there opinions, that is all they go by.They told my husband that it had nothing to do with our checking account but our account had similiaries to someone, a stranger, who wrote a check up to four years ago.So now I have to worry about a stranger's credit report!I will NOT be going to Best Buy or Walgreens in the future.Walmart & CVS happily take my checks! If everyone would stop going to the stores that use this company then maybe they will change check writing companies. My next call is to complain to Walgreens!

FISGlobal.com / Certegy terrible company

I was told by a Certegy Supervisor that their Check verification service was one of the best in the world. That very day Certegy Check Verification Service issued our business an approval Number for a check written by a man who has been in jail and Prosecuted several times for writing bad checks and also issued an approval number on a check written on an account and bank that has been closed for over 4 years. I would think if this system was one of the best in the world that it would be linked somehow to bad check writers and certainly have a database that recognizes closed banks and accounts. I was told that the approval process is based solely on the history of the check writer with Certegy. After reading the complaints of people with absolutely no bad history having their checks denied by Certegy and then the people with horrible historys having their checks approved, WOW! I think that One of the best systems in the world has a glitch! This is a problem!

Truth is stranger than fiction, isn't it Chris? There is no Big Brother who knows all, sees all. On average, trying to identify bad checks is successful and pays off for merchants, so much so that they pay for the service. Individual cases are all over the map and can be comical.

Certegy is only one company that makes a living from attempting to mitigating the actions of criminals. To paraphrase Lee Ioccoca (and others, I am sure), "If you can find a better check verification service, buy it."

FISGlobal.com / Certegy - Declined to cash a payroll check at walmart

My fiance' went to Walmart to cash is payroll check tonight (July 15, 2009) . He'd been with this company for 2 weeks, and had cashed the first check with no problems. FISGlobal.com / Certegy wow

So I have read through these cause I was declined while writing a check. Then declined while trying to cashe a check. All I see is the same reason over and over again. I spoke to a nice gentlemen who reassured me that it was nothing I did. All you people have to do is file complaints? You honestly have nothing better to do with you're lives? You complain but then still write checks. Whats more pathetic is you think cause your white middle aged single hardworking law following people you shouldn't be subject to everything just like everyone else? You all honestly think your better then a black person? Or an asain or hispanic person? You think that just average white middle aged people are innocent? All I have to say is look at Ted Bundy. WHITE MIDDLE AGED PERSON. You all honestly need to rethink your lives or even talk to your parents about the way you were raised. You must seriously hate your lives if you think just none white people should be declined. I hope you all learn that Black/hispanic/asain/white people are still people. I think that you all need to learn to use plastic over paper. Have a nice life and god bless

all you people that complain about checks being decline get with the program now days pay with a credit card or debit card.. checks are not a guarntee form of payment. your bank does not gurantee them. it has nothing to do with credit! for cashing checks go to the bank or get a bank account.

In regards to the comment regarding white, middle-aged people...
You just need to grow up, and stop being a racist pig.

What does race and a person's age have to do with Certegy? Absolutely nothing. I am certainly not a white, middle-aged person, and I have been wronged by Certegy just like the best of them. In regards to your comment about "All you people have to do is file complaints?"... what do you think you just did? Duh! Grow up and stop acting like a 2 year old. Just because somebody wronged you in some way, doesn't mean you need to go around randomly attacking people on a complaint board. How stupid?!? You're certainly not the sharpest tool in the shed - and that's a fact.

Actually that is not correct - your bank does guarantee the checks as long as you have sufficient funds to cover them. Checks are considered legal tender and should be accepted as long as their is proper identification. As far as your comment to "get with the program", I would suggest that you respect the rights & desires of an individual to conduct business in a manner which is appropriate for them. Would you tell someone who is riding a bike, "Get with the program. This is the 21st century - buy a car". Absolutely not... that is ludicrous.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy certegy denied my check

I cant believe that today I went to Wal-Mart to the money center and I was very nice to cashier that I said I do not wish to carry all cash of $836.30 and I would like to have pre-paid wal-mart debit card it is the way safe it is...she was smile and know I made a right decided and she asked me for ID and a SSN which I already gave her. She process the check which is from Merrill Lynch 401K retirement check which is suppose to be trust this check to cash it. CERTEGY is the one control and denied as a code 2 is said too risk to cash it. Then I tried other check which is from Gov't benefit its SSI check because I am deaf...the amount on SSI check is $564. Lady tried it again to process on SSI check, still denied and said code 2 too risk to cash it. I am feeling like and believe that it had nothing to do with checks to cash it, it had something that CERTEGY is against me on my history of credit if I have bad credit and CERTEGY is make sure I cant cash the check...only one way is have my check give up to whoever I owe in past of credit history debt. Thats how I feel like it how suppose to work to against anyone's credit history to not let them to cash the check. I called the 866 and I told rep about what happen and they said they cant cash 2 of checks due to code 2 too risk to cash it and told me I cant cash those checks at any wal-mart because it will be same denied. I told rep that I am report to BBB, report to Sheriff dept and an state attenoy and the rep said u r more welcome to reports as your rights but we are follow CERTEGY policy under 3 big credits. Thats what they said...they dont care and I think Banks is side with CERTEGY the way when people cant cash the check, only thing they think is open new account with any of banks. Thats like bail at people that you cant cash the check...you need to open new bank account.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy check decline

Jonathan-

Thank you for taking the time to contact Best Buy in regards to the recent experiences you have had in our Hickory store location.

Best Buy has chosen to utilize an outside agency, Certegy, to guarantee the checks our customers present as payment. Sometimes Certegy is unable to guarantee a check because it falls outside their guidelines, and our management staff is not able to override this. Please be assured that this in no way reflects your credibility as a consumer. We appreciate your feedback and I will document your concerns into a formal complaint, which will be made available for upper management.

Best Wishes from Best Buy,
Helen and the Consumer Relations Team

Thank you for your response. I, too, intend to contact upper management at BestBuy about my June 16 and 17 experience at BestBuy in Hickory, NC. I spoke with a representative at Certegy on June 17 about the decline of my checks at BestBuy (Reference # [protected]) and for the representative at Certegy to tell me that my checks were declined because my 'PROFILE' fit the profile of a Fraudulent Check Writer, well, that goes way outside a company's guidelines. I have been doing business with BestBuy for over 10 years and my purchase history with them is extensive. I intend to seek advice and/or assistance from the State's Attorney General's office about this experience as well as submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. A local area news station offers a Problem Solver Investigation hotline for matters of this nature and I intend to contact them. Something needs to be done about Certegy Check Services.

I wrote a $225 check at Boscovs dept. store and was denied. I never wrote a bad check in my entire life, plus had over $7000.00 in my checking account. What the heck is this company doing and do the businesses that use their service know they are losing millions of dollars worth of business on wrongful information. This is also humiliating and must be looked into.

my check was declined for authorization by Certegy Check Services at the Walgreens in Antioch TN 11/29/2017. I was told that a report would be sent to me stating the reason why. After 2 calls to the customer care department at [protected], i finally received a vaugue response that since there was a gap of 4 checks that they could not identify to who the checks were written, they could not approve my transaction. I was also told that if I were to fill out an application, that my future check writing would be considered after they "processed" the application. I received a letter stating that I was declined the priviledges of writing checks and my checks would not be authorized for future purchases. "The information does not meet the applicable criteria required for enrollment at this time."
Is there anyone out there who is part of a class action against this firm?

I won't take the time to detail my anger at having my check refused at Big Five Stores in Boise. I have a credit score average of 830, never had a check returned for insufficient funds, and at the time of the "refused check", I had a four figure balance in my checking account. I paid for my purchase with my Visa card then attempted to find a reason for the refusal. I phoned Certegy's toll free info number and got a recorded message saying "all representatives were helping other callers and to stay on the line". I waited and waited while other recorded messages reminded me that I would be helped by the next available person. I was determined to wait as long as it took. I put my cell phone on speaker and drove home. After a half hour and still no customer service person answered, I was home. I hung up the phone. If this is a "real" check verifying business they have no right to be this irresponsible without being held to account for their actions (or inactions). Irate in Idaho!

I received a LIHEAP check and attempted to cash it at Wal-Mart. The check is drawn on the State of Pennsylvania. Wal-Mart declined to cash it after running it through Certegy Check Services. I then tried phoning Certegy at the 866-6478 number and there is a recording. After you attempt to enter your id number, it states it cannot understand and hangs up. I called them at least a dozen times to no avail. If they don't allow a check drawn on the PA Treasurers office, who then will they approve checks for? LUDICROUS

The first run in I had with this company was after writing a $70 check at a Big 5 Sporting Goods. My check was denied and I was given information to contact Certegy to discuss the problem. First, in a panic, I called my bank to ensure my account had not been wiped out or something. After confirming I was in good standing at the bank, I called Certegy to learn that there's no legitimate reason that my check was denied other than that the numbers (routing, account, amount, etc) some how matched the guidelines (unspecified guidelines) that constituted fraudulent check cashing. I have no criminal history, negative bank history or negative check writing history, I had money in my account and a valid photo ID with me at the time I was trying to make the purchase and this company had the ability to deny my purchase FOR NO REASON. For a "solution", Certegy did try to get me to sign up to be a "gold member" with their companyh so I wouldn't have this problem but I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine. In my opinion, they are bullying consumers...unless we divulge more information about ourselves and give them the power to monitor us more closely, they will make it impossible for us to make purchases in any form other than cash. I've read that they can also randomly deny consumer's ATM transactions as well.
I am more convinced that I am being bullied as the same problem happened to me again yesterday at Target for a check under $200. I called Certegy immediately to learn the SAME BS they told me the first time. I told them that it was clear they were black listing me since I rarely write checks and this was the first opportunity they had to deny me again since the last run in. Of course, they denied they were seeking me out, but what the hell else do you call it? I just so happened to meet the "guidelines" again? What are the odds of that? Again, I was pursuaded to become a "gold member" with their company in order to prevent this harrassment...This time I agreed so I could get the paperwork in my hot little hands. I want to get as much info. about them as possible as I am certain they are running an illegal practice.
There is no difference from what they are doing than if I was randomly asked to leave a store upon entrance for NO REASON...would we stand for that? Let's not let this company get away with this. I've complained to every and any outfit that I could: Consumer Affairs, FTC, Better Business Bureau of West Florida, Target Corporate Offices, Big 5 and anyone else I can think of. Please do the same!

Every other week I get paid and cash it at Walmart. I suddenly got denied and handed a little slip of paper about this Certegy check services. This is after spending about an hour and a half shopping. I tried talking to certegy with the number on the little peice of paper only to hear someone asking personal info...like a fool...i answer his questions only to find out he has no answers and can't tell me why i was denied suddenly. He had a whole report of me being at Walmart cashing my check in the past. He had a very lame, "Sorry for the inconvenience". Nor did he seem to care or understand the embarrassment I experienced.
I can't help but to wonder why I was red flagged, since I don't do anything wrong to be red flagged. Maybe it is associated with the evil credit bureaus? Even if it was...it was a payroll check and well exceeded what i was purchasing. They have a data base of bussiness partners and I, personally, am avoiding all of them because of this horrible experience. They should not be able to get away with it. I am writing an angry letter and sending it to them, the known places that do business with them, the attorney general, and of course, my friendly local Walmart who I currently stopped doing business with do to this horrible humiliating experience. And anyone else I think of who should be aware of this practice.
They should not have this much control over people ecpecially since they totally are lousy at there judgements!

Would not approve a payroll check to be cashed after Walmart had me to endorse the check. Reason #2.. I make more money than they (Certegy) would cash weekly. I feel that this violated my civil rights. As long as the check is legal, They told me it was, they had no right to refuse approval to Walmart... THey (Certegy) has no right to tell me or anyone else how much money they can make on a payroll check... I am looking for attorneys and/or firms to file a class-action law suite against Certegy Check Services.

I'm with you as far as how much you can make on a GOOD payroll check that they accept one week but deny the next week because it is for more than the week before! Our Walmart also charges to cash it, too. Walmart should stop dealing with these people if they value their customers.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy check declines

I have been doing business with BestBuy stores for well over ten years. I've written checks for store purchases on different accounts, used ATM and Debit cards to pay for items I have bought and then all of a sudden in just two days (June 16 and 17) Certegy DECLINES my checks to a business I have been doing business with for over 10 years. I contacted Certegy and they informed me that my profile fit the profile of a Fradulent Check Writer. Tell that to BestBuy now that I will no longer make any store purchases from them. Certegy SUCKS! Can't something be done about this outfit? Certegy's customer services is lousy, too. At a time when companies need to be doing everything they can to maintain customer loyalty, they might need to rethink their business model.

Thank you.

It's been nearly a year since I have purchased anything from Best Buy. If Best Buy insists on using Certegy Check Services, Inc. P.O. Box 30046 Tampa, Florida [protected] for their check authorizations, then I will never purchase anything from Best Buy again. It's funny that I use the very same checking account to pay my homeowners and automobile insurance, dental bills and electric bills that Certegy Check Services declined on a purchase from Best Buy. At a time when most companies are striving for customer loyalty and repeat business, Best Buy has surely shot themselves in the foot. What were they thinking when they brought Certegy Check Services onboard? I tried to purchase a $99 wireless headphone from Best Buy of Hickory, NC; Certegy Check Services declined the check. Yet I use the same account to pay hundreds of dollars of bills every month. I would dump Certegy Check Services if I were CEO of Best Buy. Certegy Check Services is definitely a stumbling block in Best Buy's bottom line. And don't waste your time calling Certegy Check Services; all you'll get is smoke blown up your ?@&.

We went to TARGET where we have shopped and spent lots of money over the past severa years. We tried to write a check for $227.42 and it was denied by Certegy and they said it was based on the info on my husband's driver's license. We have not written any bad checks to anyone and when we called this outfit, of course, they could not help us. I ended up putting the purchase on my credit card because I was so embaressed and the clerk acted like we were losers. I needed the items as I am a social worker and I was purchasing Xmas gifts withmy own money for the kids on my caseload. I had never heard of this Certegy outfit but when reading others experience, I see that we are not the only ones. My husband wrote a check at Best Buy just last week for over $400 with no problems at all.

I think Certigy is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen and I think that they will cause many reputable businesses to lose customers. I'm not likely to finish my Xmas shopping at Target and I guess I better use cash according to wack Certegy. Let's do something about them!

After reading through some of these complaints, I'm more concerned now about what happened tonight. I went to the local Walmart to cash a property tax refund check from the state and was denied. I got home and called the Certegy 800 number that they gave me, gave some of the personal info via an automated guy, and then heard a recording that the offices were closed for the day, and I would have to call tomorrow...the reason being #2, whatever that is...the people at Walmart asked if I had cashed a check in the past 7 days, which I haven't, not quite knowing why that matters anyway, and they also told me that it's 1 of 4 reasons, and that they don't know what they are...well, been cashing checks and spending lots of money there for years, and now I'm really discouraged with them, and now have a bigger concern for this so-called company Certegy! Guess I'll find out tomorrow if the state has problems issuing checks these days...Just had to vent, really excited to get this check and then something really lame like this happens!

FISGlobal.com / Certegy faulty claim

I am having a problem with Certegy correcting a bill I never owed. I have called them on several occasioins stating that the claim they have placed on my credit report is false. Netflix says I owe them nothing and Certegy can find no bill owed to Netflix. Yet they have not removed thid erroneous blemish on my credit report. Everytime I call them I now get a run around which does not make matters any better.

Can you not see that they are frauds, flim flam artists, scammers. THEY SOLD MILLIONS OF PEOPLES CHECK ACCOUNT NUMBERS BACK IN 2007. HOW CAN ANY REPUTABLE STORE STILL DEAL WITH THEM. Theat y will deny your check, and then give you a phone number where no one can be reached. would a true legit company provide a phone number that has no one on the other end to answer. I think not. So, CERTIGY, why dont you respond to these thousands of complaints against you. ?

FISGlobal.com / Certegy check denial

On May 2, 2009 I went to my local Sears appliance/hardware store to purchase a lawn mower. I had the crated lawn mower at the cashiers desk and wrote a check for the purchase and to my surprise was told by the cashier that my check was denied by certegy check services. I was told I could call the 800# that was printed on the back of my denied check. I could have made the purchase with a credit, or a debit card or gone to the atm and withdrawn the entire amount in cash, but did not. If Sears couldn't trust me, because they have Certegy check services screening all their checks, than I quess I can't trust Sears. I left the store with the crated lawn mower at the cashiers desk and vowed never to return. Just wrote a letter to Sears holding company to their ceo. Sent a copy of a reciept for a lawn tractor that I purchased from a different hardware store.Hope everyone that gets a denial from certegy check services, for what ever lame reason their computer model shows, takes their business else where. Certegy check services should go the way of the dinosaurs.Tell all your friends not to do business with any business that uses Certegy check services.

This is a horrible company. They refuse or red flag checks for no reason. They refuse to explain what is going on. Marshall's, T.J. Maxx, Target, Walgreens, Restoration Hardware all use this company.

What an embarrassment.

I wrote a check and it was denied. Last week I used my check card and it went through. I tried calling the company and was put on hold for 45 minutes. When I was finally spoken to I got the run around. They couldn't tell me why it was denied. I went to there web site and found several complaints on their company. I don't know why companies are using them. They are loosing all kinds of money.

I too tried to cash a check for a pair of shoes for my husband and I also was declined from certegy. I was humiliated and embarrassed. I called my bank and they said there was no problem and then I tried to call certegy and was on hold for a half hour and still not get anyone. I am furious over this check company. I wish there was something we could do.

I recently tried to cash a payroll check at Walmart and was denied by Certegy. This I cannot understand. If I had any bad credit or was overdrawn on my personal account and trying to kite a check, this would be expected. But to be denied cashing a company payroll check? I called their 800 # and got a computer voice that confirmed the denial, but gave no information as to why. Nor was there any online address available to inquire. I can either go to the 800# and listen to their computer voice, or write requesting a copy of my file. Why should I have to?

Certegy is also used by 400, 000 other merchants across the us and canada.
Sooooo good luck avoiding them.
Also to everyone that keeps saying boo-hoo I can't write checks anymore blah blah blah
THE METHOD OF PAYMENT YOU ARE CHOOSING TO USE (CHECKS) ARE A NON-GUARANTEED FORM OF PAYMENT.
Get a debit card fast, because for all you fossils who don't realize it yet soon checks will be no more
and places like certegy will also be no more. and thank god because that poor company has taken the liability of billions of dumb peoples checks and have suffered for it and then get to listen to you ### cry all day long because you couldn't buy little tommy his new bike.
Well chances are you didn't have the money in your account anyways at the time you present your check
(which btw is ILLEGAL) and tommys probably a selfish ### like you and probably doesn't derserve the damn bike anyways.

I agree I too shopped at two local K-marts and my checks were declined. When I contacted Certergy Check Services they imformed me that there was no problem with my account or imformation it was just that system they use said that the check process fit a fraud possibility because of some explanation that they gave me that I still do not understand. K-mart has lost my business. You can't even write checks now

Well you do know that a check is not a guaranteed form of payment. A check is a piece of random paper that some one takes out of their pocket to sign. I would be surprised if someone didn't have a security system just for paper checks. I mean as a cashier I have no idea who that is or if that check is real or the id being shown isn't fake. I mean really. Who are you?

I tried to write a check at kmart and the same thing I know I had more than enough money to cover the check and when I called I talked to him and he said that my name was not on the system for writing bad checks but sometimes that just happens I had a cart of stuff harldy any cash and a store full of people. HOw embarassing is that to have them say my check was declined and then I had to void most of my purchase. This place is ridiculous something needs to be done about them..

I just had this happen to me yesterday! It was a Macys too! I called my bank first and they told me there were hold holds and i had more than enough to cover the check. They said it was a code two which meant identity theft. I am going back to Macys today with a print out of every complaint, a large company like that should not be using such a bad service! I dont know if this is bad but i do feel so much better knowing that it is not just me.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy check denied

certegy check services denied my check, written at a sears appliance/hardware store while trying to purchase a lawn mower. called the 800# and was told nothing wrong with my account, that i fit a computer model to be a risk. i asked for a written letter of denial and did receive one. i made a copy of same letter and sent to sears holding company, attention to their ceo. i will not shop at sears or k-mart or for that matter any other business that does business with certegy check services. if enough people take the time or tell their friends to stop shopping with businesses that do business with certegy, just maybe, certegy can go the way of the doe-doe bird.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy wrongful decline of check

I was in Bed, Bath, & Beyond today and tried to make a $5o purchase by check, but it was declined by Certegy check verification services. I did not understand because I had a large balance in my checking account. The Certegy rep told the clerk that I was a high risk and not to accept my check. The clerk then handed me a number to call the Certegy automated help line. The automated line said that I had a clear record of zero hot checks and that I was a high risk because I do not write enough checks. I write around 10 to 12 checks a month and use my debit card for everything else. I just don't go to many places that use Certegy apparently. I have been writing more checks this week because I have been waiting for a new debit card. I apparently cannot write a check at a store that uses Certegy. It was so embarrassing to have that happen in front of the other customers and I really don't think I can go to back to Bed, Bath, & Beyond again until they start using electronic draft.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one with this embarrassment provided by Certgey Check Service... I too had to leave my stuff behind because my check was refused. I dont write that many checks because i relied too much on debit card but it happened that my card had been compromised so the bank had to issue me a new card and in the meantime i have to rely on my checkbook to make purchases until my card arrives... The amount of the purchase was $54 and I can assure you I have at least 50 times as much in the account... I hope that businesses realize that Certegy is cutting in their business and not do business with it anymore...

Certegy is the WORST. I too do not write many checks but have good credit and no bad check history. I tried to write a check today because I didnt have my debit card with me. Same thing, Certegy declined and I had to leave my stuff at the store with a promise to the manager that I would return. I called the company and they said there is no bad credit nor was there any indication of a bad check but that their computer system had detected certain "markers" of security risk inherent with my check, the specifics of which they could not explain to me. I could only assume they thought I wasnt the person who I said I was and was stealing someones identity. However, I and the manager at the store assured them I had proper ID and was not a risk. They STILL would not give the approval code so the manager (who couldnt believe how stupid and rude they were) put an override on the register and put my check through. I will be putting in a complaint to our state attorney general as this practice is completely unjustified and constitutes interference with business relations.

FISGlobal.com / Certegy can't cash unemployment check at wal-mart

I don' t get the deal with Wal-Mart promising to cash check at Wal-Mart. I have attempted many of times to go to Wal-Mart to cash my state issued Unemployment check, and they can't. I call Certegy and they state that they can't cash it because of my check poses a 'risk'. A $380 check poses a 'risk'? How is that? I don't get how I can cash a $1300 financial aid (school) check but not a $380 unemployment check. Something needs to be donw about this issue! I can't afford to keep paying $10 somewhere else just to cash a $380 check...it's ridiculous!

Pay some bills and get a bank account like the rest of the world. Its no ones problem but yours if they don't take your check. Your going to Walmart. Get a grip. No one has to cash your check. If it doesn't work you can take it somewhere else, I'm sure. Maybe the bank the check was drawn off of...

Screw Certegy. They did the same thing to me about 2 months ago. I do not use credit cards either. I had plenty of money in account and have overdraft protection. I called the 800 number and did talk to someone- a jerk- no less who could not tell me why my check was declined. I told him that I had written a check to Best Buy the previous day and it was declined. I did not freak because the checker had problems with typing in my DL #- she had to do it at three times...she could remember the digits from the moment she saw them until the moment typed. I figured that she typed in the wrong DL#. I used my secondary checking account and ecerything went through. I went to WalMart the next day...and was declined. They stated that I was declined the previous day. So I now knew what happened the previous day was not the cashier. I hounded the guy for reason. He stated he could not give me a reason. I asked them why they provide their phone number if they cannot give reasons. He stated that the reason was I had a check declined the previous day and I asked him again why the check the previous day was declined. He then stated the same. I told him that if his company could not provide a reason then, they were a waste of my time and my cell phone charges. He told me that I had to wait 7 business days to write a check. I contacted the bank- they told me to go to the store who stated that the DL # was probably typed in wrong. They are all idiots if you ask me.
I still write checks but, I try to carry cash.I have not gone back to Best Buy- yes, I have. I returned the item I purchased. It turned out to be the wrong item. I do not plan on shopping there anymore.
I love how these stores encourage purchasing on credit. Most people are in debt with credit cards and the stores are part of the problem...hanging their sweet carrots out for people who do not know how to say NO.
