Amateur Match / fraud

1 United States Review updated:
Contact information:

This site not only didn't let me know who it REALLY was until after I had created an account where I was already an (inactive) member, they started an avalanche of phony messages to try to get me to by a premium membership. Here is a typical email notice:

You have received a new message from come2mama56!

Incoming Message:
From: come2mama56
55 year old Woman
Subject: Maybe The Right One For You
Read This Message Now

Yoiu click on "Read This.." and it takes you directly to the message onsite. But you can't answer it without paying, of course.

Some profiles look authentic, but some have absolutely NO information that doesn't show up in a search.

I got OVER three pages of of emails that prove they idiots had never even read the first couple sentences of my profile info. Which says pointedly that that profile is an accidental dupe and please send to my actual screen name. There are no details no picture, nada.

Only one actually sent to my correct mailbox. It was letter-for-letter identical with the first. Surprisingly, I never got an answer back when I responded to her email.

I finally got tired of getting messages like the above cluttering up my inbox and communicated/complained to the site.

Here is their reply and my original message:

I'm thinking about suing for fraud. Why? because if any of the 3 full pages of supposedly horny women had read my into, they'd know where to write. (The fact that I have virtually no info and NO PICTURE stink even worse. BTW, I'm keeping screenshots of this crap so you can't just delete it and say it didn't exist.

Notice how they focused on my having a dupe profile and never addressed the real issue.

there are real people on there, but as I said in my email to them, they are trying to defraud their customers.

Every single complaint is true, it smacks of class action suit. I actually changed my profile to 104 years old, bald, with a huge family and married, and got ton's of replies saying how much they loved my profile. Playing into the hands of guys, just honestly wanting to meet somebody. It's effed up. Look how many BAD looking women there are, f all. Stay away, sue these jerks.

I had the same experience. dozens of e-mails every day... problem is that they all sound the same. Some even use the exact same wording, like, "Hit me up sometime, " or 'What are you doing tonight?' or 'Any plans for the weekend?'

The wording in all the 'messages' is the same. Clearly written by the same person, or the same group of people. A HUGE RIP OFF! And yes, they should be sued. But how to find them? These scammers hid behind the internet and know they are nearly impossible to find or sue. Maybe the FBI could track them down, if they were interested. They're probably way too busy to go after every fake or fraudulent internet site.

Just a sign of the times I guess. The internet is a wonderful thing, with lots of great information and services, but whenever you have something that wide in scope, you always attract a certain number of crooks. Just the way the world works.

Wow I wish I would have read all this before I got suckered in. I only paid for one month but imagine all the money these crooks have made off of others lack of knowledge.. I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one that this has happened too. I wish we all could get together and sue them for everything they have, and put them behind bars.. It's sad that they can play on people who are lonely and looking for a mate.. Everything that all of you are saying about this site is true and something needs to be done! I don't know how to expose them for what they are other then doing what I'm doing now. I would like to say thank you to all for helping to expose these crooks for what they are..

My photo was taken from another dating site and placed at this url:
I was sent a message from another member informing me of this and that person disappeard quickly from that membership. I have tried to have my photo removed as I did not give permisssion for it to be used nor do I wish to be exploited as I am not a member of this site or wish to be. I had sent three requests to their contact source and have been ignored. The public should know this is fruadulent on their part as I am not nor will I ever be a member of Amatuer Match.

I think these complaints only barely address the intentional 'LIES' this company used to get started and continue to perpetuate. It's huge money, being pulled out of people's pockets who would really like to get to know someone to spend time with. Fraud at this MASSIVE level should be dealt with in the Courts and why the Justice Department won't shut them and the Ebay/Paypal monopoly down makes me wonder if we have a Justice system at all anymore.

While sharing my disgust over finally paying them for a month of service with another man, he just started laughing. I asked him what was so funny, and he said that the woman I had been in touch with, or should I say, the picture of the woman I was in touch with, was HIS GIRLFRIEND. He took me over and introduced me to a slightly older version of the very same woman. She had posed for a semi-pro photo shoot years earlier and apparently not secured the rights to the pics. She now thinks the photo shoot was a total scam and was done specifically for AM. Judging from the photo backgrounds on many of the pics and the tags showing on lots of the costumes (not kidding) I think it's true.

CLASS ACTION!!! No pimp could ever pull this off without getting shot!

If you go on google and search amateur match bots you can find in the first 20 or so results several different websites that companies post projects for freelance computer programmers to bid on and complete. The people have posted to several of these websites seeking bids for script bots reactive to various situations. This does not meet the legal definition for fraud or even deceptive business practices, but as a freelance programmer, I was disgusted by this attitude towards their potential customers and would not submit a bid, period.

Here is an email conversation I had with amateur match. One email from me, a reply from them (automated) and the final reply from me.

I've become a free member on this site and have received a number of responses to my profile that i'd like to reply to.
However, i've found that on a free account, I can not message anyone as i'm always re-directed to a page that tries to get me to upgrade my membership.
I thought you could "meet new people" on a free membership? How does that work if I can't speak to anyone on here? Surely, unless i'm trying to message them incorrectly somehow, what you're doing is false advertising?
Also, I can't seem to upload a photo. It's only 27.4kb in size, and complies in everyway to your guidelines, yet your software will not let me upload it. Why?

    Automated Reply,

So what your basically telling me is that as a FREE member, I CANT
find an ideal partner AT ALL.
What I can do is search POTENTIAL (I can use caps to make a point
too...) matches and, after the hundreds of bots on your site have
bombarded me with message after message, join up and MAYBE talk to
    someone real.
In other words, your site is in-fact taking part in MISLEADING
ADVERTISING, which I think you'll find is ILLEGAL.
In-addition, I CAN NOT upload pictures to your site. I have tried
several times with several different pictures, none of which are over
a MB in size or violate your specifications in any way.
Therefore I shall be withdrawing my membership to your site and
submitting a report to the governing body of trade legislation from
whichever country your servers are located in (I shall beginning
    investigating that immediately).
It's companies like yours that make todays society so un-trustworthy.
You should be ashamed that you profit from people's ignorance.
    Have a nice day,

It's such an obvious scam it's actually kinda pathetic.

I have been a member of this site for about six months. I have had numerous women contact me from my area wanting to go out with me and say they really love my profile. The only people you can IM on the site are webcam girls. I could not figure out how to cancel my subscription so I listed my debit card as "lost" to my bank, and they still found a way to charge my debit card. I think it is a matter of time before these leeches are caught by the Feds. I cannot imagine this can go on for very much longer. What I do not understand is why they just did not try to create a legitimate website. Honesty and integrity will always win in the end. DON'T DO IT!!!

I joined this site and got the same bait sent. Photos of beautiful girls who all sounded like a man trying to say what men want to hear. I started out with a real profile that reflected me accurately and I joined for $24.95 a month. It took me 1 day to realize it was all just mail generated by the website to fool us.

In real life I do have young beautiful girls hitting on me so I wasn't surprised at first that I got theses emails. But some of the emails were so beautiful that it was impossible that they would ever join a dating site to begin with.

There is a way to request to be deleted. After I requested to be deleted a few times I got an email saying a customer service worker would delete my acct within 24 to 48 hours.

But to be sure I CANCELLED my credit card that I used to sign up so no way can they get any $$$ from me.

I did get yahoo messenger IM's from girls. They were all just hustlers who needed some money for one reason or another. Or they were wanting to come to USA and needed help with airline tickets.

So I changed my profile to read I am 98 years old that was looking for a woman that knows how to shut up. And said I was 7 feet tall and 80 pounds described as muscles on mussles. I said I was a skinny fat drug addict. I still got many emails and requests for friends. Only 2 people said hey why do you have that creepy photo on your profile. But since I made that crazy profile I have gotten many IM's from real girls with webcams letting me see them and not just sending fake photos.

The ones that did contact me said they thought my profile was funny so they wanted to know me.

A webcam girl that was trying to hustle me to join a site gave me the great idea of buying a walmart ATM Visa card and using that to buy things online. That way you never risk any more future billings.

I think I know the answer to this question but I'll ask anyway. Would the threat of a lawsuit perhaps make the think twice so they would delete my (my husband's) account?? Does ANYONE KNOW? From what I just read here it's a near hopeless situation. Shame on him. Shame. Shame.Shame. :(

yep yep and yep One thing you do have to read is the fine print their rules: I know exactly what you are saying as far as everything here happened to me same way but, when you receive a message and go to site look at the far right hand side o fhe profile and you will probably see a OC on top right hand side of outlined box or in blue or orange, , , this is their ONLINE CUPIDS who you can change your email settings as to not receive these from them. OC's are basically employees of the site who contact members and make sure that we try to use all the sites stuf available./// like if you dont have a picture on your profile, then they will ask you for one repeatedly as if they were trully interested in you.. this is from experiance not heresay.
