Advance Auto Parts do not deal with them

I own a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. I have had this vehicle for 4 years now with no problems except the windhield wiper motor going bad. I called around and Advance Auto Parts had a Cardone rebuilt wiper motor with a limited/lifetime warranty at the lowest price of $94.00. The warranty was better then anyone else was offering, so I figured I would get the motor from them. What a MISTAKE that was. This was not one of the hardest repairs I've ever done, but it was harder then I thought it would be. The motor was tucked up under the firewall with hardly enough clearance to remove it. I replace the motor with the rebuilt and everything worked fine for 8 weeks. All of the sudden they started to malfunction in the same manner as the old motor I replaced. I have a friend who owns a very large auto reair business. I called him and explained what the wipers were doing. He does a lot of maintainance on the county & township police cars. They are also Crown Victoria's, he told me that he has changed so many of them that he has lost count. He continued to tell me that the cause of this problem was the electronic control module on the wiper motor malfunctioning. The module by itself couldn't be changed, the entire motor had to be changed as I did. After talking to my friend I went online and found that the National Highway Safety had a service bulletin for this car for "Uncommanded Wiper Operation". I contacted the local Ford dealer explained the problem I was having and asked if there was a recall for this vehicle, for the problem I was having. They told me there was no recall and they were not aware of this type of problem with my vehicle. I decided to get another wiper motor and see if maybe this was the problem. There was no problem getting another wiper motor from Advance. I replaced the motor again and it seemed to be alright, but then a little over a week later it started doing the same thing all over again. I stopped by another Ford dealer on my way home one day and the service & parts managers were very helpful. They shared every bit of information that both of them were aware of. The parts manager looked at how many wiper motors they had sold and also the multifunction switch as well. They sold more multifunction switches then wiper motors. Having owned a couple Taurus's in the past I had to change the multifunction switch on them as well. I figured I might as well try changing this too. I did replace the multi function switch at a cost of $100.00. I had the same problem after changing the Multi function switch. I again called Advance Auto Parts got another wiper motor, replaced it and next day same problem. At this point I had enough of this. I called Advance and told the manager I was bringing this motor back the next day and wanted a refund. Which he said would be no problem. I then called NAPA Auto Parts and ordered a rebuilt wiper motor from them. On my way to return the wiper motor I decided to stop at a Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer on the way, to talk to them about this problem. The parts dept. there was very helpful. The parts man told me a couple of times when they couldn't wait to order the part from Ford. They tried using remanufactured motors from Advance, and they had the same problems with them as I did. He told me they use nothing but new from Ford now. I explained I had already ordered on from NAPA and if I had a problem with theres I would then order one from them. I then went to Advance to return the motor and the manager I talked to the day before was off that day. I had to go through the whole story with this older women who worked there now. That wasn't bad enough but then she had to add her two cents by saying "you have another problem, all of these parts can't be defective". After all of these problems with there parts and now I need her opinion and attitude. I told her to just give me the rufund, that is all I wanted. I got the motor from NAPA and was talking to the parts man there about there reman. parts. He told me that they have had no problems with there Reman. Wiper Motors that they have sold. He stated that the company that rebuilds there's test the electronics as well as the motor itself. In concluding I would just like to say I install the reman. from NAPA about 6 weeks ago and so far everything is fine. I truely hope this is the end of this problem. I tried to contact Advance Auto Parts Home Office through there website. I sent a e-mail to them and explained the problem. I received a response from a 2nd party that handles there complaints. Stating that my complaint were received and will be turned in to the proper department. It has been over 6 weeks now and I still haven't heard from them yet. From all that I am hearing and reading about Advance Auto Parts this company is out of control. Actually it reminds me of another store that I have had dealings with. That would be Home Depot, that is how I got treated by them as well. Advance Auto Parts should make there slogan "The Home Depot of autoparts. I appologize for the length of this complaint. I will never deal with Advance Auto Parts again.

I don't understand how you can be frustrated with AAP. They seem to have provided you with excellent customer service. Clearly it is Cardone the manufacturer of the motor who is to blame. That motor you bought at AAP had a limited lifetime warranty on it. This means the are allowed to exchange it for you ONCE for manufacturer defect. You exchanged it multiple times and in addition to that got your money refunded with the return of the product. All of which is against AAP policy. So it seems you got treated quite well.

Most parts stores get their parts from the same people. Most parts stores carry the same brands. If I was working I would have given you the courtesy of notifying you that you had a problem not related to the part as well. I think that AAP did a very good job to please you as a customer because since the part did not fix your problem and you returned it and got money back... that is way out of company policy, but they gave you the benefit of the doubt and did everything they could to help you INCLUDING letting you know that it wasn't your problem. I find it hard to believe that the Napa part is the real solution only because 1 bad part off the shelf is rare, but three in a row is next to impossible unless there was a problem with the manufacturer in that cycle... in which case you would have received a notice in the mail. If you got a bad part that many times, then chances are every person in your town would have had the same problem if they bought that part around the same time you did. I am actually glad AAP was there to help you and extend every offer of help to you, including returning an item they were not obligated to return after the first exchange. I wish you would reconsider the amount of red tape those people cut through to get you where you needed to be, even if it was more of a hassle than you intended. Remember, we don't make the parts, but we did do our very best at service... On a side note, customers in my store who have had complaints have been answered by end of business day. I don't know why it has become so difficult to you, but I also do not know what you expect from the complaint. I can tell you this, complaints like yours are emailed to each store of the region quite often, and we take every necessary steps to make sure you experience is never duplicated. Even if you did not receive an answer, I promise your problem is and has been handled.

Most all auto parts store use the same Manufacturer for their Parts. And as for Ford they don't make all their parts either. Most every product you get from a dealer is outsourced through another manufacturer. IE: motorcraft plugs are autolite and motorcraft filters are made by purolater. Just because it says Motocraft, Mopar, or delco on it does not make it any better. And you are paying more for the same part when you go to the dealer.. You are getting a lesser warranty for the same part. It is unfortunate that you received this type of experience from a Advance Auto Parts. If you would have been one of my customers I would have done all that I could to help you through this situation. I hope in the future you decide to return shopping at a Advance Auto Parts...not all of us treat our customers in such a manner. Best of Luck.

Advance Auto Parts coupon usage

Advance Auto Parts (AAP) denied a coupon to be used on a sale priced item. Coupon clearly did not say "not acceptable" on sale priced items. Called Home Office. Talked to two CSR's and they said the store was wrong, they should have accepted, and the store manager would call. Nothing happened so I filed a complaint with the NC Attorney General.

NC Attorney General demands a response in 10 days. 30 days go by and AAP responds. They say they don't have to accept ANY coupon on a sale priced item. Manager decision. Any item on sale is already an "offer" and coupons can't be used with any other offer. (Isn't any item offered for sale just that - an offer?)

AAP Home Office responded to the NC Attorney general late and said tuff - we aren't going to honor. For the customer inconvenience we'll send him a $5.00 gift card. Who wants this...I'm returning the goods.

TAKE HEED - AAP coupons aren't worth the paper they are printed on. I don't pay full retail for anything they sell as it's already over priced. Coupons are the only way to go, so know this before you get into a fight with a cashier. And if you call AAP Customer Service, they will take your contact info but NEVER call you back.

Be warned.

its not Advance Autos coupon, it is Peaks coupon. the call to home office thing is a full blown lie. and you can cry to your AG all you want but that is not going to change things.

Exactly...no one ever reads the whole thing. The reason why they would not give it to you is because corporate is telling them not to and then turning around and kissing your butt blaming the store

Every coupon printed by APP clearly states "on regularly priced merchandise" This means that if the item is already ON sale (not to be confused with FOR sale) then they have already done you a favor so stop trying to get something for free.

Advance Auto Parts warranty scam

I bought a a/c compressor from advance auto parts and all the recommended parts needed to warranty the compressor in case the compressor went bad. I don't know how to install an a/c compressor so I took it to a local recommended shop and had an ASE Certified Mechanic install it only to find out it was faulty. Their warranty department at their corporate headquarters came up with everything they could think of, blaming me then the mechanic not to pay for the install. Then they came up with another twist saying they only pay a set rate if you have something installed and thats all they do. They really don't seem to care especially when you get to the corporate level and you're treated so badly. All the money over the years spent at Advance Auto Parts now seems like it was just waisted. I wish I could take it all back and go somewhere else that cared about customers and sold quality products.

When you buy an A/C compressor there is a ton of paperwork you must read and sign before they can sell it to you. I always offer the related items, we are required to and we make no money off of not selling you the complete project. All we are required to do is replace the product we sold... what else should be expected, if we do not do the work we should not be held liable for your mechanics faults. Any mechanic who accepts 'customer provided parts' can not guarantee the part, its a two way street. You should probably look to your mechanic and make sure he/she knew what they were doing, and not off of ASE certs made more than 2-3 years ago. A/C systems HAVE to be flushed, related parts MUST be purchased, this is in your warranty contract agreement... you don't buy the parts, you don't get an agreement. It really is that simple.

I'm also having a problem with my warranty on my A/C compressor. When I bought the compressor no one told me I needed to buy all the related parts right then and there or keep my receipts. I bought all the parts after I found out I needed them for the compressor and now that it has gone out, they told me I need all my receipts and etc. I am so sick and tired of all of this. I will never do business with them again. I blame the store employees for not providing me with information on the warranty. Like seriously who in their right mind wouldn't buy the related parts for their warranty to be valid. That's book money for school.

I purchased a Autocraft Titanium battery from them a year ago. This comes with a 3yr free replacement warranty. I took it to them today because it was dead. They happily came out and tested it, and told me the computer said it had a bad cell. They said before they can replace it they need me to leave it with them for 2hrs so they can charge it and retest...

Advance Auto Parts ignorance

Wow. I thought we actually advanced (no pun intended) as an automotive culture in the last 6 years I've been working on cars with friends (I'm 22 now). "We" sure haven't. Listen to this [censored].

I pull into the parking lot with the intention of buying a simple 10mm wrench to tighten down my hood latch assembly (just got done rebuilding 98 Civic hatch after wreck) and to find out what size wrench I needed to get my oxygen sensor out/in. I get out of the car and walk in and tell the guy what I need. He asks me if that's my Civic outside. I said, "yes'. He starts talking about how he could roast me with his 95 Cougar, it runs 12's, etc etc...(load of B.S.) I look outside at his car and it's stock with a bunch of ricer stuff from his own store. Wow. So I try to avert the conversation back to what I needed. He kept talking about my car. "You wanna sell it?" BLAH BLAH BLAH (It's a 98 Civic hatch, 99-00 front, JDM options, lowered, suspension stuff, 16" Work knock-offs, ETC you get the point. I plan on autocrossing this year) I said no, it's not for sale, I'm just now getting it finished up for autocross. He says, "Come on! Get some real American Muscle! BLAHDIBLADIE BPBPBPBPBPB" whatever else he said I tuned it out. I finally got him to show me the wrench sets and he tried to sell me standard sizes. I said no, I need metric, it's a foreign car. He argued, I just grabbed the metric set and asked him to ring them up. I bought them, got out to my car, and pull out the 10mm wrench. The closed end wouldn't go on the bolt. The open end of it would. Upon inspection of the wrench, it was defective. I got him to look at it, and his friend who was standing there (who had just wrecklessly slung his new stock Charger into the parking lot moments earlier) proceeded to tell me that the bolts on my car that I'm trying to tighten aren't 10mm. I told him that I just got done putting the ENTIRE front end on my car (obviously because everything in front of the doors is new and factory primer black) and that 90% of the bolts on these Civics are 10mm. I told the employee that the wrench set is defective. They argued with me, saying things like "See?! They IS standard sizes!" and "Put a 12mm on there, that's what it is." so on a so forth. FINALLY the manager comes out the front door with a higher quality 10mm and hands it to me. It pops right on. The friend of the employee gets in his car and does a the hugest, most little-dick-syndrome burnout I've seen in my life and then I go inside. I return the defective wrenches and when the little window on the computer pops up asking him why the product is being returned (didn't like it, wrong product, defective, etc etc) he chose "didn't like it". I told him he might want to enter those as defective, because they, you know, ARE, but he just kind of said "ohhh it's ite" or some [censored]. And that was that! Not only was the ignorance and cheauvanism enough to keep me away from that store, but the cherry on top was the sudden cold image of all the possible defective products sitting on the shelves! Thanks Advance Autoparts! You saved me some hastle in the end!

First of all, it simply sounds like you were having a dick measuring contest and are crying cause you lost, secondly, the options on the window do not include 'didn't like it' and most often than not we just hit the enter key because you want to get in and out and it is useless for us to ask why... get over yourself, not everything has to do with you. Also, very nice story, but lying here to get a response to your 'really cool rice burner' is not how to get laid, or whatever it is you are trying to accomplish. The guy was simply trying to create a rapport with you based on your interest, he was trying to pay you a compliment and gift you a little friendship to make your shopping experience more pleasant. You never intended on buying the part, that is why you returned it... and if you worked on cars since you were ...14 (doesn't actually count) you should have a 10 mm handy... that is the most common size for your vehicle. So, in short... I call [censor].

Advance Auto Parts scam and cheating

I purchased a PEAK back-up camera [protected]) for $69.98 that had a $30.00 rebate. Great deal ! However yesterday I received a check for ten dollars. I contacted thier customer service and was referred to the rebate processing company. They had me fax the information I had, then sent me an email saying that I was not entitled to that amount. BULL, I know what I was buying and for how much !

Advance Auto Parts warranty

Bought Ac Compressor, dryer and orfice tube for 2017 Ford Winstar. It quit working 3 days later on the way to Florida. It was installed by a qualified service center. The cost was 375.00 just for installation, the parts wer 300.00. Return the faulty parts back to advance, had to purchase again and fill out papers to send to Advance for reimbursement, plus had to purchase a new condenser which had gone bad due to the compressor coming apart.this time it was over 500.00 for parts.Had everything reinstalled and it was over 500.00 this because of the condenser. Now I spent over 1600.00 and received word from Advance that I would receive no Reimbursement.Warranty is terrible. There is no warranty. You are on your own when dealing with these idiots. They said the reason was the system was not flushed properly the first time. Well the second compressor has been on foe 6 weeks and doing fine. Lame excuse!

You were reimbursed for the part. AAP did exactly what they were supposed to do. You need to worry about the person who installed it, there work should have been warrantied. You took your vehicle to a mechanic who accepted 'customer provided parts' No real shop can guarantee work done if they do not provide the parts... your problem is more likely the cause of a skinny pocket book and cutting corners than an actual parts store. If you returned the parts like you stated, you got your money back, so you didn't 'purchase the parts again' you used your warranty refund to replace the part as agreed upon in your contract you signed when making your purchase. Chances are, if the part busted that quickly after you bought it the pressure from the perfectly working part probably blew the condenser and the person who fixed it did not test it before 'fixing' your vehicle. More likely than not, the Comp wasn't your actual problem to begin with, your condenser. Even if it was... AAP did exactly what they were supposed to and it was fair to both parties.

Advance Auto Parts fraud

Advance Auto Parts would not honor the warranty on an a/c compressor I bought. The clutch came completely off and was lost as I was driving. Their receipts are intentionally printed with disappearing ink which should be irrelevant since a record of the warranty was seemingly entered into their computer when I bought it. I got the big runaround when I tried to make a claim. They asked me about 10 stupid questions which deserved and got no answer before the expected denial of the claim. If they are going to ask their employees to lie and cheat for them they ought to do a better job training them to lie or hire some born liars like themselves to work there. They dont deserve your business. David.

A/C systems sold by most auto part stores have to be sold with other A/C components or the parts will not warrantied.
Most stores use the "disappearing ink" receipts. Here is a thought... I think you own a computer so you might have a scanner... scan info in to the computer, back it up and if you need it print it out.

Advance Auto Parts fraud and cheating

Advance Auto Parts purchases old car parts, replaces a very minimal amount of whats needed, paints and resells alternators, distributors, starters, carburetors and they are all junk! I have had my problems with them from the past 6 years, with parts that only last one year. Then they say that you cant get a refund unless the part is a manufacturer defect, not worn out! They also have a new theory, that if they test it and it works, then you are stuck with the part.

They really cheat consumers. Ive returned used parts such as sensors, ball joint, and brake pads that looked dirty in the box. This happens at every single store no matter where you go. The customer service is very very bad too. The counter people are as stupid as they come and refuse to help.. they are only trained to sell. Its a shame this happens. The best bet is Napa, or your dealer and get a new part. Plus, for supplies, oil, cleaning, wax, go to Walmart or Target, its much cheaper!

Advance Auto Parts bogus/useless warranty

Please read! When buying batteries from advance auto parts, check the warranty period very carefully! They give you a useless, bogus, warranty. They warranty batteries for 90 days with no prorated period. So, if you spend 79.99 on a battery like I did, and it goes bad 9 months later, you are s. O. L. They dont care, all they offer to do is sell you another $80 pos. They dont care about the public like they say, all they care about is putting the mighty dollar in their pocket while screwing the public. Well, they got their last mighty dollar from me. With any luck, they will get what is coming to them in this economy... Bankruptcy!

Amazing, simply Amazing.
It shows how consumers have spoiled themselves over the years. Everyone feels they are entitled to something.
If you treat the employees respectful, you fill find all of them will go out of their way to help you. Dont take your anger and agression out on them because your car broke down. No one is out to get you clowns.

I am assuming you bought an ATV/Cycle battery and are pissed off about the warranty. A 90 day warranty on a piece of plastic you pour acid into seems fair. With this being said, my assignment for you is to grab your iphone, call the competition, and ask about their warranties on similar batteries. Also keep in mind that an educated consumer would either 1). Question the seller about the warranty before making the decision to purchase. 2). Simply read the warranty terms on the receipt.

In addition, I would argue that if you are concerned with the "mighty dollar" and how it applies to routine maintenence on your ATV/Cycle, you are probably living outside your means, and should think about saving that dollar. I have a feeling that deep down inside you will agree.

you can't base a company's reputation on one person's actions. yes i work for advance and some of these posts have open up my eyes to some peoples ignorance. an eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind you can't just get mad as hell over something petty in a place of business and expect people to treat you with respect and actually feel like they want to make your situation better. most of you people don't even pay attention to the warranties and then when something goes wrong you get pissed when somethings not covered. if you had such a problem with something when it broke i don't see why you didn't ask more questions before you bought the product. and something isn't covered if we see something failed do to other issues with the car. for example a battery isnt bad if its dead but holds a charge, the alternator isnt charging it or you have some sort of electrical drain. some people just don't get this. ive seen this time and time again. it makes me sick.

Manwithcommansense, what is the point of your post? Who gives a damn what the name of the battery was, i'm sure if Advance didn't sell it, they would have told her that when she brought the battery in right? But, obviously you have no life and enjoy getting on here and personally bashing people with your pointless comments. Hmmm, do you work for Advance? Oh wait, I highly doubt you work.

BTW, did you mean to make your name 'ManWithNoCommonSense'? Someone needs spell check!

My battery was dead in my camaro. I went in and bought another one. When I returned the old one, I realized it was still under warranty. It was a 3yr platinum. The same as the one I had just bought. The guy wasn't going to tell me, but I asked him! He said he could check it overnight and if it was bad, I was entitled to a new battery. I had to go out of town the next day (work related), so my husband went up there to check on it. SURPRISE! They couldn't find the battery. When they finally did, they said it was bad, but since I had already bought another one, they had credited my ATM card for the core charge. So I was SOL on the old battery. I emailed the company and told them how dissatisfied I was with this. They NEVER returned my email. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ADVANCE AUTO STORES AGAIN! OH, and by the way, make sure you write down what you bought and when on the back of your receipt, because they also have the disappearing ink on their receipts. They can guarantee when this new POS battery goes bad that I just bought, that I WILL get my moneys' worth. If you want my advice, you would be better off going to NAPA or the dealer. ADVANCE IS ALL ABOUT ADVANCE!

The question is was it a small engine battery, for a motorcycle or atv, etc.? If so, then you should only of got a 90 warranty with no prorate. Also, some store will not give warranties on economy batteries if they're not spcified for that vehicle. I agree with the first poster about the differences in warranties between stores. It also depends upon if the district manager governs on spending and warranties. But I would say that you can trust the Assistant also since they are the "right hand man" of the manager, and usually there when the manager is not. Something else is that if the manager is unwilling, you can also try to contact customer support at the corporate office for help.

Wow! I completely agree with you there. And Not just the batteries, pretty much anything to do with warranties. I also agree with you on the only caring about the money part also. For what AAP want's it's employees to do the pay totally sucks. Employees are expected to do everything at once with low pay. AAP expects its employees to wait on EVERY customer regardless if he/she is already helping one. Also expects them to sell them stuff they don't really need. AAP calls this 'Attachment Selling'. I call it, 'Screw the customer and take as much of their money as you can'.

Actually, different Advance Auto Parts stores have different policies which are determined by that particular store's manager. The store I worked in gave no questions asked replacements on batteries as long as it still had the date code or proof of purchase was in our computer. (Had to be from OUR store or verified by the actual store of purchase.) The battery must not be capable of holding a charge.
The batteries we sold were regular(1 year warranty), Silver (2 year warranty) and Gold (3 year warranty). During the initial warranty period you are entitled to ONE free replacement battery, the same as turned in. AFTER that, the warranty is pro-rated towards the price of the new battery. The battery check machine issues a "code" which is typed into the computer during checkout. The proram automatically figures the pro-rate amount.

Additionally, SOME AAP stores offer a 10% military discount while others do not. It's manager's descretion since it lowers the profit of the store. Brakes: Some store give a "lifetime replacement" on the Gold brakes while others do not. Again, manager's descretion.
Anytime you have a problem, ALWAYS insist, politely, to speak to THE manager of the store, not an assistant or shift manager. It may require you returning when the manager is there, but usually they will do whatever they can to accomodate you, WITHIN REASON! (And NO, I don't work at AAP anymore.)

I purchased a muffler from advance auto parts (AAP) and installed it myself on the same day. I noticed that it did not fit right so assumed it was the wrong part, I am not a muffler guy so how could I know? AAP told me that it was the correct part so I took the muffler to a muffler shop to see if they could make it fit. The muffler shop told me that they...

Advance Auto Parts fraud and scam

I purchased a motorcycle several years ago, made all my payments in advance and when the bike was totaled at someone's irresponsibility I am the one suffering. Right after the accident I called GE Money Bank and advised them of the accident and that the insurance company would be paying it off. GE Money gave the insurance company someone else's account information and due to this mistake the payment was late. GE Money is expecting for me to pay the difference. They claim that the insurance company made the mistake and that I am still responsible for the balance. Which there wouldn't be a balance if they hadn't made the mistake to begin with!

About 12 -14 weeks ago I I bought a rebuilt engine for my 1994 Ford Ranger pickup from Advance Auto Parts. After I had it installed, before I even picked it up the garage told me it smoked when they started it and that and that the rings more than likely needed to seat. Before I even got it home it started missing. I called the guy that installed it and he told me that he wouldn't stand behind it and I would have to have someone other than him to check it out.He told me to take it to Gater Towing, which I did. Gater Towing checked it out and told me that they would have to replace the motor after checking out everything Advance wanted them to check. After about three weeks Advance sent another rebuilt motor. Gater installed the motor, they did a super job. They charged me almost $1300 witch was suppose to be paid under the warrenity. This has been about three months and I have still haven't seen any of the warrenity money yet.

I was shopping at Advanced Auto Parts today for cleaning supplies. When I was done gathering what I needed, I went up to the counter to get in line. At this point there were 2 employees at the parts counter/register and 5 customers total in 2 different lines waiting to be helped. While I was waiting there, another gentleman walked in with a drive belt and...

I recently purchased 2 halogen head lamps from advance auto parts, the sales person was polite and asked if I needed two or 1. I stated that I should probably get two because I was not sure if both higbeams were out or not and told him if it doesn't work I will just return them. After getting home and determining the bulb(s) were not the cause, I tried to...
