First of all, on a positive note I would like to congratulate in general, staff at Coles, North Park Shopping Centre, 264 Main North Rd, Prospect, Adelaide(their Ph.No.-8344 8622 ) when I shopped there, they displayed a joyful, positive & respectful, attitude in serving me, especially with the team at the Deli Section.Supervisor even asking if they needed help, which they didnt, they saw to me in 5 mins, & I was No. 4 in line. Very Efficient, Well done. A very hard working, smart working group as a whole. Busy bees. And this is exactly the type of model, other Coles branches should be aspiring to.And that unfortunately is why I am making a complaint about a different branch down the road, that I was metaphorically pushed out of (by a Manager to boot) when she was in the wrong. It was the Manager( I think of the Deli itself, being at Coles at Centro-Arndale Shopping Cntre, cnr Torrens Rd & Hanson Rd, Kilkenny, Adelaide [Ph.No.(08)8268-2255].
It all started with me approaching the counter at the Deli, it was quite busy, but I waited patiently in line, no fuss. When it was my turn a female worker, served me, ( wrapped 2 separate Ham packages as requested) and asked me politely if I needed anything else, replying, I said "no thanks " & as I collected the items I spied a selection of Salami, which I now remembered was on the shopping list, so I quickly replied, "Oh sorry! there is actually something I'd like, some Salami with ahhh... Garlic and ahhhh, couldnt remember the rest of the name(It was Garlic & Wine Salami). In fact there were only 2xtypes of Garlic Salami-" Garlic only Salami" & "Garlic & Red -Wine Salami", but both types were separated at each end of the Bain Maree. As the woman walked over to one end of the Bain Maree, because there was quite a selection, I started looking from the other end, only a few feet away, she found the "Garlic only" type Salami, and I immediately found the" Garlic & Red wine Salami" the one I was after. By pointing from behind & actually tapping the inside of the glass Bain Maree, the woman asked me straight away, "Is this what you want"; I politely replied "no" As I …. attentatively tapped on my section of the window to grab her attention still not knowing the full name of the Salami . She did not respond to my continual tapping & pointing at the Wine & Garlic Salami, still waiting & tapping at her end . Getting frustrated at a communication breakdown, I abruptly broke the peace & said "Not That!"(referring to the "Garlic Only")
"The Garlic & Red wine" I said, reading off the label on the tray & smiling profusely, pointing down at the "Garlic & Wine"Tray. That's when 'she threw a curve ball out from left field' & yelled at me, "What do you think I am, Stupid or something" "Do You know I am the Manager". She was so arrogant & obnoxious with me as she had the nerve to insult me further by asking if there was anything else she could help me with. I replied " no theres not(with a defiant look), even though at no stage did I ever yell at her. I never did quite absorb the first comment until I left the building and those were the only 2 packages I had so far picked up, from the whole shopping list, as I felt so knocked back & assaulted(metaphorically speaking) I could not concentrate on any further shopping, & had left the trolley( with the deli parcels) in the middle of the Fruit & vegie Section furious & distraught, but after a minute, gathering my thoughts, then immediately going back & retrieving the parcels & handing them to the nearest attendant available, at the self-serving checkout stations, requesting him to return the items to the Deli, as"I had a problem with the manager" & warned him there would be a complaint. Also, I have witnessed problems on other occasions with that manager plus other attendants who could be supervisors or managers, who have treated customers with disdain by yelling at them, just for asking questions. And I get the distinct impression that management at Arndale don't care about their rude behavior & openly looking down on customers, if they impede their duties, just so they can push them past the checkouts and thru the door as fast as they can allowing a continual movement in the queue line. I suggest all your staff especially Supervisors & Management(at Arndale) go thru a 1day workshop training lesson from your "Human Resources " section to learn the art of communication & patience with customers who indirectly fund their employment, because of such an example treatment of a customer, you will continually lose regular patronage at Arndale, (as you already have with me). The manager, I am complaining about, is a Female - I can only describe as wearing a mans uniform (white shirt, black long trousers, Tattoos on arms with a mans styled short haircut.) Waiting with baited breath & apology from management.
Signed -An angry Maurice Coe

That is a little hard to believe as myself and my elderly mother have been served by this young lady several times. This young lady has helped my mother with her shopping groceries to the checkouts and also to her car. She always goes over and beyond and is very quick and efficient to her job and you can also see the dedication and passion she has for her job and her customers!
