catawiki Gross incompetence

I recently entered two antique oil lamps for auction on Catawiki. The lamps had years ago been bought for around 200 Euros each. I wanted to put in a reserve price, but was told that this was not possible and that the starting price should be set low to attract bidders. I trusted their advice, and the pieces were sold at a price of 1 Euro each!

After the sale I received an e-mail asking if I was hungry for more. Needles to say I declined.

This organisation is completely incompetent and I would strongly recommend against using them

Recommendation: Stay clear of Catawiki

catawiki Catawiki Review: Poor Customer Service and No Coverage for Damaged Goods or Health Hazards

I recently made a purchase on Catawiki.nl that left me feeling dissatisfied and frustrated. I had won a bid for four "vintage" wooden boxes and eagerly awaited their arrival. The parcel arrived on a Friday, but unfortunately, due to national bank holidays, I couldn't open it until the following Monday.

When I finally opened the parcel, I was immediately hit by a strong musty smell and found that the boxes were covered in mold inside, making them unusable. The poor condition of the boxes meant that they were actually a health hazard, and I knew I needed to take action. I contacted the seller to complain, but got no response.

After waiting four days without a response from the seller, I contacted Catawiki customer service to request a refund. Unfortunately, I was informed that I had missed the 3-day deadline for claiming, meaning that I was no longer eligible for a refund. Furthermore, they told me that I would have to pay for the return shipment of the boxes, which would cost me more than the boxes themselves.

I was extremely disappointed by the lack of customer service I received, especially since Catawiki charges sellers fees to use their platform. It seems unfair that the burden of responsibility for damaged goods is placed on the buyer, rather than the seller who shipped it in the first place. I found it particularly concerning that Catawiki does not seem to take the health risks associated with mold seriously.

In conclusion, I would advise buyers to be extremely careful when purchasing items on Catawiki. There is no real coverage for receiving damaged goods or items that pose a health hazard, and sellers are not held accountable for the condition of the items they sell. It's essential to thoroughly inspect any items upon arrival since Catawiki does not take any responsibility for their quality or condition. It's a shame that their customer service is so inadequate, especially given the fees that sellers pay to use the platform. Overall, I would not recommend using Catawiki unless you're willing to take a gamble on the quality of the products you receive.

catawiki My Catawiki Nightmare: Payment Mess and Cancellation Confusion

Oh my goodness, let me tell you about my experience with Catawiki. I gotta be honest, it was the worst platform I've ever dealt with. You know what they say, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. Well, Catawiki fooled me twice! Let me explain.

First off, they made an absolute mess with the payment process. It was a complete nightmare. The first attempt seemed to go smoothly, Catawiki confirmed the payment. But then, they informed me that it hadn't gone through because of my bank's safety filters. Uh, okay, sure. So, then I attempted a second payment and followed the instructions for an IBAN payment. This actually worked, or so I thought. I followed the link they provided and sent off the payment. But guess what? Catawiki cancelled the payment again! This time, they claimed that the description of the payment was unclear. Ugh.

I desperately tried to contact them, but all I received were emails from a no-reply Catawiki email address. A no-reply email? How am I supposed to solve anything with that! It was incredibly frustrating. And to make matters worse, my purchase was cancelled. I thought the nightmare was over, but then I get yet another email asking me to pay the goods (whatever that means!) and to also pay the commission to the seller. Can you believe it? I don't even know how much the commission is!

As a consumer, I know my rights. I have the right to cancel the order within 14 days without any penalties. So, I don't think they can actually ask me for this payment since the two weeks have not yet passed. It just seems like a sneaky way to get more money out of me.

Honestly, I would advise you to avoid Catawiki at all costs. It's just not worth the risk of wasting your time and money! Be careful out there.

catawiki Impressed with Catawiki's customer service and artwork quality!

I gotta say, man, Catawiki really knows how to provide quality artwork. I've won a total of six pieces from them, and I gotta say, all have been spot-on accurate with their descriptions. I'm in love with all of them! The only downside is that two of these items took a little longer than I was expecting since they were coming from Europe to the good ole' US of A. But hey, no blame on the seller because international shipping can be brutal, am I right?

Anyway, when I reached out to the folks over at Catawiki to let them know that I didn't receive my items in time, they really stepped up and took care of everything. For the first item that didn't arrive when it was supposed, they talked to the seller and got it unstuck from customs. Then, for the other item, they did some digging and found out that it had already been given to USPS. They gave me the tracking number, and I got in touch with the post office myself. Fast forward a few days later, and I got my item!

Overall, I was really impressed with how quick and personal Catawiki's customer service was. I even gave them a shoutout telling them how much I appreciated their top-notch service.

Now, I gotta be real with y'all and say that some of the stuff on Catawiki isn't always up to par with what I'd expect. There are some jewelry and gemstones floating around that probably aren't the best quality, and I can see how someone who isn't as well-versed in these areas of expertise might not realize what they're getting. So, my advice would be to really read the descriptions of what you're buying and pay close attention to any damages or signs of age that the seller mentions. Plus, they often include close-up photos, so you can see for yourself what you're getting. Don't forget to also check the size of the items listed as well!

All in all, I'm loving Catawiki, and I'm sure you'll find some great stuff on there too!

catawiki My Catawiki Experience: Buyer Beware, Zero Refund Guarantee

So, yo listen up and let me tell ya about my experience with Catawiki. I gotta say, it wasn't the best, ya know? It all started when I won this electronics piece, a turntable to be exact, and it came to me in pieces, like a puzzle. The seller didn't pack it right, and boy did me and the turntable pay for it. I sent that sucker back, but did I get my refund? No way, Jose.

I've been emailing back and forth with the Catawiki customer relations office for more than six weeks now, like seriously, it's taking foreva. Still no refund, and I'm short of a few hundred bucks here. The customer relations people said they were processing the refund and all that jazz, but I ain't seen a penny of that money. So what's up with that, Catawiki?

I gotta say, after this whole fiasco, I don't really trust Catawiki all that much. Like, if they can't handle a simple refund, how can I trust them with my purchases and stuff? It's like, they say they have a policy and all, but where is the actual follow-through, yo?

So, if you're thinking of shopping on Catawiki, just be careful, ya feel me? They might talk the talk, but they ain't really walking the walk. Ain't nobody got time for that kinda nonsense, you know?

catawiki Catawiki Review: Questionable Seller Practices and Manipulated Reviews

I recently made a purchase on Catawiki.nl and had a bit of a frustrating experience with the seller. I bought two lots from them and was charged double the price for shipping, which was already quite expensive. I contacted the seller and they agreed to reduce the shipping cost, which was a relief.

However, when I received the two lots, they were both packaged in a single tube and the shipping cost had not been adjusted as promised. I tried to contact the seller again to resolve the issue, but I received no response for several weeks.

Eventually, I decided to leave a negative review of the seller, explaining that they had not honored their promise to reduce the shipping cost. But to my surprise, my negative review was removed by Catawiki's support team and changed to a neutral review.

I tried to explain the situation to the support team, but they were not interested in hearing my side of the story. It seems to me that Catawiki manipulates reviews and removes negative comments in order to make their sellers look better.

So if you're thinking of buying something on Catawiki, be sure to check the shipping costs carefully before making a purchase. Don't count on any promised reductions, especially if you're buying from a seller outside of your country. And be aware that negative reviews may be removed if the seller asks Catawiki to do so.

Overall, I'm disappointed with my experience on Catawiki and feel like the seller review system is a bit of a scam. It's hard to trust reviews when the support team seems more interested in protecting their sellers' reputations than in listening to their customers.

catawiki Avoid Catawiki at all Costs: A Complete Mess with Terrible Service, Unprofessional Conduct, and Inaccurate Estimates

Wow, Catawiki (catawiki.nl) is a complete mess! Their service is so slow that even a tortoise can go past them, and don't even get me started on their high fees. If that wasn't bad enough already, their customer service is terrible, and their so-called "experts" are clueless. These "experts" approve obviously fake items and disapprove items that are clearly genuine. And don't even get me started on their ridiculous value estimates, which are so inaccurate that even a toddler can do better.

But that's not all! The requirements for listing items keep changing arbitrarily, wasting so much ridiculous amounts of time. And if you complain about an auctioneer's behavior by sending an email to the [protected]@ address, you'll get an automated response (if you're lucky) saying that your complaint has been sent to the auctioneer. But surprise, surprise, you won't hear back from them! This is completely unprofessional in every respect.

I wouldn't waste my time or money on Catawiki if I were you. Unfortunately, I can't give a rating of minus five stars because that's how bad they are. And even when they respond, it's just more nonsense. Two months ago, I listed and sold items almost exactly the same as the ones they rejected this time. At that time, this type of item was acceptable, but now it's not? And there are many other similar items currently for sale on the site. Are they suitable or not? And their stock reply was obviously written without any research into what actually happened. And to top it all off, I've still had no reply to my official complaint.

Catawiki is a total swindle, and their reputation is terrible. So do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Anywhere else!

catawiki Catawiki Review: Frustrating Experience with Unreliable Buyers and Incompetent Experts

Catawiki is a website that allows buyers and sellers to connect and facilitate the sale of various items. My significant other had used it in the past to purchase some things, so I decided to try to sell some of my own items on there. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a frustrating experience.

Firstly, it seemed like most of the buyers on Catawiki didn't pay for the items they bid on. I often received emails from Catawiki chasing them up, but still, six months later, I had yet to receive payment for some items. It was incredibly disheartening.

To add insult to injury, the "experts" on Catawiki seemed to have no idea what they were talking about when it came to valuing designer items. I listed some pieces that were truly designer, but the expert's evaluation was shockingly low. In one case, an item that had sold out previously for €5,000 was evaluated at only €140-€230. It was even more baffling when I discovered that the same expert had valued a high street dress at the same price range. It made me wonder if their expertise was merely a family relation.

Furthermore, they seemed to have no concept of different lines within design houses. The black label was evaluated the same as much cheaper lines. If my old aunt who never read a fashion magazine hadn't heard of a particular line, chances are the experts wouldn't either.

I tried to research the background of Catawiki, but the information they provided on their website seemed to be a work of fiction. I couldn't find anything substantial online, which was concerning.

If you're comfortable dealing with people who appear to have no idea what they're doing, don't mind automated emails, and can handle being paid weeks or even months after the sale, then Catawiki might work for you. However, it's important to note that they hold onto your money for 2 to 3 weeks, making it impossible to sell elsewhere if the buyer doesn't pay.

I read somewhere that Catawiki pays their staff very little, and they're all part-timers. It would make sense given the low quality of service. However, it begs the question of why any real expert would work for such paltry wages.

In the end, I concluded that my items were too valuable for eBay, but they were also too valuable for Catawiki's "experts".

catawiki Disappointing experience with Catawiki auction house: inconsistent valuations and dictatorial attitude from "experts" make it hard to sell items

As a member of Catawiki, I was welcomed with open arms and invited to sell my items. At first, I was ecstatic about the free valuation service provided by the "expert" team. However, as soon as I started submitting my items for valuation, things took a turn for the worse.

These "experts" seemed to be inconsistent with their opinions and often ignored my emails. I found myself getting increasingly frustrated, especially when I received rejection notices for my items based on rules that seemed to be applied differently each time. What was even more concerning was the dictatorial attitude of some of these so-called "experts". They would dictate the value of my items instead of suggesting a valuation, and if I dared to disagree with them, my item would simply not be listed.

I had two items listed since the beginning of November for the weekly auction, and to this day, they still haven't been listed. It seems that unless I agree with whatever the "experts" decide my items are worth, I may never see them listed. Catawiki's concept is great, but the application is not functioning as it should. I simply cannot justify paying a 12.5% plus VAT fee for such a poor service.

I tried to engage with Catawiki in a constructive manner and voice my disapproval of some of the valuations. Unfortunately, some individuals have the power to block your listing if they disagree with your reserve estimation. This can vary depending on which auctioneer you're dealing with. It's a very confusing and time-consuming experience trying to sell your items through Catawiki.

I have since taken my items off this auction house and gone elsewhere. Catawiki seems to be best suited to those who don't mind selling their items at any price, whether they're high-end or not. Catawiki needs to take a long hard look at its policies and ensure that its freelance auctioneers receive proper training before being allowed to behave like they do.

It would also be helpful if Catawiki created standard response templates to common questions or issues instead of making sellers feel condescended to. I must say, I'm extremely disappointed in Catawiki, as I had high hopes for an auction house that could rival Ebay and others. Unfortunately, it seems Ebay may still be a better option.

Overall, Catawiki has a lot of work to do if it wants to improve its service level and retain its customers. I'm not alone in my opinion, so if you decide to try your luck with Catawiki, I wish you the best of luck fighting the system.

catawiki Mixed Feelings with Catawiki: A Review of an Online Auction Platform

I recently had an experience with Catawiki that left me with mixed feelings. While I did eventually receive a refund for a damaged fossil that I purchased, it was definitely not an easy process. I found myself exchanging countless emails with both the Catawiki team and the seller, which was frustrating and time-consuming. Despite providing photos of the damage and the postal receipt for the return, it still took quite a bit of back and forth to get things sorted out.

One issue that I think could be improved upon is the packaging of fragile materials. While some sellers take care to package things carefully, others do not seem to be as diligent. It's definitely something that I think Catawiki could instruct sellers to do more carefully.

That said, I do think that Catawiki is still in a growth phase and figuring out some of the finer details of their business. One downside to the platform is that it's not like a traditional auction where you can see and touch the merchandise you're bidding on. Instead, you're relying on photographs to make a decision, which can be a bit risky at times.

Overall, I have somewhat mixed feelings about Catawiki. While I did have some frustrations with my experience, I do think that the platform has a lot of potential and could be a great place to find unique and interesting items. Hopefully, they'll continue to iron out some of the kinks and make the buying and selling process smoother for everyone involved.

catawiki Stay Away from Catawiki: Poor Customer Support and Outdated Systems with High Fees

I've got plenty to say about catawiki.nl, and most of it's not good. I've been using the site for over four years, and have made a whopping 2,500 sales. But despite being one of the site's most frequent users, somehow my account was blocked just because I questioned one of the auctioneers. He was trying to list some fake watches, and I spoke up about it. I mean, isn't that what anyone would do?

Anyway, the whole experience has left a really bad taste in my mouth. Catawiki is just an amateur operation, and they clearly don't care about their sellers at all. Their systems are so outdated that it seriously makes you wonder how they're even still in business.

And they charge such high fees! 15% for the sellers, and a whopping 9% for the buyers. You'd think with all that money they'd have some sort of customer support or something, but nope. Once they've got your money, they don't care anymore. They'll do anything they can to avoid issuing refunds for their poor service.

Honestly, I've wasted so much time and energy on this site that it's just not worth it anymore. I can't recommend anyone use it. If you need to buy or sell something, do yourself a favor and use one of the more well-known auction sites. Catawiki isn't worth the hassle.

catawiki Beware of Catawiki: Corrupt Dutch Company with No Buyer Protection

recently had a terrible experience with Catawiki, and I must warn everyone about this corrupt company. If you are Dutch, they seem to love you, but if you are American like me, they basically tell you to off. In fact, they don't even bother to respond to your messages. They apparently allow Dutch sellers to steal from American buyers.

As an American buyer, I purchased an item, but the seller lied about it and sent it with no protection. I tried contacting customer service several times, but I didn't receive a single reply. Then I messaged the Dutch seller, but he just laughed at me because he knows that Catawiki allows him to lie and steal money from buyers like me.

I have to say that Catawiki is a terrible Dutch company with no buyer protection. If you buy something, the seller can lie about the item's condition, and you won't be able to get a refund or even a response from customer service.

For example, I bought a camera lens listed as "mint." But when I received it, I found out that it was full of fungus and haze and completely useless. I had to reverse charge my credit card because Catawiki didn't respond, and there was no way for me to get my money back.

In conclusion, please stay away from Catawiki if you are from the U.S. or any other country outside of the Netherlands. This company is corrupt, and they don't care about their customers at all. You'll be better off buying from a more reputable and trustworthy company instead.

catawiki Terrible Experience with Catawiki: Delayed Orders & Poor Customer Support

So let me tell you about my experience with Catawiki. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good one. I made an order way back on December 18th and to this day, I still haven't received my purchased item. I waited patiently for over a month and still nothing. I even reached out to their customer support team to try and figure out what was going on with my order. They responded by telling me to wait because there are COVID-related delays which is understandable. Fine. January 29th was the day that I was finally allowed to open a dispute. I thought great, finally some movement - but I was wrong.

Catawiki's first response was positive and reassuring, saying that they were on it. However, after that initial response, it was like they dropped off the face of the earth. All I ever got were computer-generated responses saying that they would be in touch in two days, but two days came, and there's no response from them, not even an update on the status of my purchase. I was so annoyed that I started to keep tab on all the other orders that I made in Europe and guess what, my orders from February have arrived, meanwhile, Catawiki was still giving me the excuse of COVID-related delays which I believe is not true.

To add insult to injury, I logged in to check the status of my dispute, and guess what? They removed the whole case! No explanation, nothing - like they settled it, but they just forgot to tell me. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I noticed that they deleted everything related to my dispute without any prior notification. It was like they just wanted to sweep everything under the rug and forget about my situation.

If you ask me, I would advise you to go directly to your credit card company or PayPal account and put them on this. You should avoid Catawiki at all costs. My experience was terrible, and based on everything that happened, it seems like Catawiki is a total scam. So be careful and be wise in dealing with them.

catawiki Unprofessional Jewelry Expert and Lack of Support from Catawiki

I recently had a bit of a rough experience with catawiki.nl. I decided to sell a few items in the Jewelry Category from Israel, and I thought it would be a great way to make some money and declutter my collection.

However, things didn't quite go as planned. When the Expert, Carlos Pe?a Renis, reviewed my lots, he rejected them without any clear justification. It was very frustrating, especially since I had put a lot of effort into getting the right certification from GIA, which is well known all over the world.

What really got me angry was when I stumbled upon something that really raised some red flags. I did some research and found out that this Expert is linked to selling accounts from Spain and Netherlands. It seems like the same person is behind all of them, and that they're using their power to push out competition, including me.

As a seller from Israel, I teamed up with my fellow sellers and tried to contact Catawiki, hoping to get some help with this issue. Unfortunately, it felt like we were wasting our time. It was impossible to reach out to anyone higher up, and the Expert seemed to have some kind of immunity from consequences.

I really hope the CEO and other managers of Catawiki can see this review and take action. It's disappointing to see how someone can be so unprofessional, especially when it comes to something as important as your livelihood. I advise others to be careful when dealing with this expert, and to always double-check the accounts behind them to make sure you're not dealing with something shady.

catawiki Catawiki.nl Customer Service: A Major Disappointment for Whiskey Collectors - My Story of a Failed Transaction

I recently had an experience with catawiki.nl that left me extremely disappointed. As an avid whiskey collector, I often purchase bottles from all corners of the world. However, this particular transaction with a French seller ended up being a complete letdown.

The seller had a less than stellar rating from previous buyers, but because catawiki.nl assured me my money would be safe until delivery, I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I purchased three bottles and eagerly awaited their arrival. Unfortunately, two months went by and I still hadn't received anything, nor had I heard back from the seller despite my many attempts to reach out.

Frustrated and feeling like I had been taken advantage of, I contacted catawiki.nl asking for a full refund as per their company rules. To my dismay, they evaded my emails and only sent me standard automatic replies, with no real indication that they were looking into the situation.

In the end, I fear that I may have lost my money for good. But the real tragedy is that catawiki.nl has lost a customer for life. Not only will I no longer be purchasing from them, but I will also be warning all of my friends in the whisky associations that I am a part of to steer clear of this less-than-reputable company.

Overall, my experience with catawiki.nl was a major disappointment and a clear indication that their customer service is sorely lacking. Until they can prove otherwise, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

catawiki Beware: Catawiki Scammed Me Out of Money for Earrings I Never Received

Man, Catawiki was a whole bunch of trouble for me. So, I was bidding on some earrings, and I won the auction, yay for me right? Not so fast. Catawiki charged my card right away, but for some reason, they only charged five bucks less than the agreed price. I tried to pay the remaining amount multiple times, but their system just kept denying me. So, I figured no big deal, I'll just contact customer service. They were no help, it took them like a week to suggest I make a money transfer. So, I sent the money like they told me to, but it was too late, the auction was already cancelled. But here's the kicker, Catawiki never gave me back the money they took for something I never even got! It's been almost a year, and I'm still fighting them to get my cash back. I even had to file a fraud case against them. So, be careful if you decide to mess with Catawiki, they might scam you!

catawiki My Negative Experience with Catawiki: Beware of Inadequate Checks and Unresponsive Service

Catawiki, let me tell you, is not a platform I would recommend to anyone. I have had some pretty bad experiences dealing with them. Firstly, they made me sell my antique Chinese pieces from the 18th century, labeled as 19th century artifacts. This was done without any regard for proof of age or comparison with similar items. Sadly, this is a pretty common occurrence on the platform since many of the items sold do not go through proper checks before being up for sale.

In another instance, a piece I had submitted for selling went through a review process that lasted over a month! After constantly emailing them, nobody bothered to get back to me, so I just decided to delete the item from my list. This is not the kind of service sellers should expect.

And then, I had submitted some pre-Columbian objects from my collection that was established in the 1960s. But guess what? They said the artifacts were fake! I was quite surprised since I knew for a fact that the items were authentic. But, I decided to be patient and resubmit them again. Only this time, they were accepted by the same curator that had earlier labelled them fake. Go figure.

One thing I have noticed on this platform is that items that are obviously fake, still sell for outrageous prices. It is mind-boggling, to be honest. Like, how do you sell an item that ten years of experience would scream 'fake' for hundreds of dollars? It’s unbelievable!

In light of my experience, I would advise sellers to steer clear of this platform. But, if you must use it, make sure you are very sure of what you are selling. As for buyers, be cautious, because the curators' lack of knowledge in most departments could lead you to purchase something that is not worth the price.
