Worst company ever
Submitted all required documentation for my refund on 6 July 2024.
Basically the installer outsourced by builders couldn't do the installation. I called builders requested a refund which was agreed to and now I'm getting the run around. Every day there's a different excuse.
On 2 August 2024 , I'm called and accused of having used the refund to buy something else. I have not bought anything else I don't want anything more from this company than my R1385 refund.
Bad customer service
I have been a client of Builder Warehouse for many years in Buffelsfontein Road Port Elizabeth. The staff stands around and don't help. Not visible in isles when needing assistance and the pickup zone is a bad experience. I uavr purchased a gas heater, the guy thats suppose to fill up gas is nowhere to be found and waited 30 minutes before they could locate him outs8de his lunch hour. The collection today I have had for gutterpipes I had to load myself because they just don't care. I litteraly spend easilly R5000 to R10 000 a month at that branch and if thats the serice you guys render, I would rather takr my business elsewhere. Very disappointed. Christiaan Fourie [protected]

Good day
My complaint is against builders warehouse and la holdings.
I purchased cupboards online and backing boards separately from builders online for delivery which including a workmanship cost which I paid an extra R3000 for.
To my suprise after a couple days I was called by someone at builders informing that my order had been mistakenly cancelled and without my consent my the money was distributed between my credit card and my builders online profile. Furious I exchanged a few words with builders informing them they have no right without my consent and also notifying them of how incompetent they were. After a few days I decided to repurchase upon their request.
Take note this delayed my delivery date and also inconvenienced me and also,I hated the fact that they use my person details and refunded me without my knowledge when I did not give them permission to do so.
Finally builder decided to deliver my cupboards together with the workmanship being done by la holdings.
The disaster did not end there. The installation was an even bigger mess up.
The guys arrived at 2pm and left at half 9pm. Unfortunately I was not there and my mum had to sign the document. Signing the document meant that they had arrived there and did the job.
The backing boards were not cut to size.
The wardrobe are flimsy..it was such a big safety hazard..there were whole and scratches and dents. Alister at la holdings blamed builders and their materials. The cupboards were not even aligned.my cousin did notify them that the job was very poor ,they advised that builders were responsible for the material being so poor and according to them was not in their control.at half 9 the guy wanted to rush to have a drink as he informed my mum..my mum signed the document believing his words.
The very next day she sent me pictures and to my surprise it was even worse than expected.i complained to builders immediately..for two weeks I have been getting calls from Ethan.salvation and store manager Ricky at builders in Durban north who gave me such poor responses.. salvation at builders actually said that my damages were self made and accused me of doing that to my furniture.disgusted with her feedback I put their remarks on hello Peter and consumer boards

Appalling service with builders
I had the worse service possible from an online purchase...after writing the below email to their complaints still they have not assisted..I'm speaking to different people all blaming different departments or installations or installations blaming builders..
How are they suppose to help us if they can't even work properly with each. See the below feedback I wrote to builder description of my appalling service:
Good day builders team..
I'm writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and disappointment with the builders customer service.
From onset ,it has been a huge challenge with my purchase,from getting the delivery to the end process of installation.
I made an online purchase on the 26th of May..on the 2nd of June the builders team mistakenly cancelled my order. And refunded me half to my credit card and half to my online profile..without my consent ..that's the first infringement.
Nevertheless I continued with the purchase and had to wait for the money to get refunded and then redid the purchase...I also purchased backing boards which got delivered before the cupboards got delivered...I also paid for the installation thinking that it's better to get professionals to have them fitted together.
As a long time user..my husband uses builder all the time I decided to go ahead with and repurchase the cupboards once the refund was made despite terrible services of going back and fourth...
So the order final arrives on the 6th of June..at 2 clock ...together with the workmanship that was purchased via builders...I as a consumer is expecting professionalism,but to my surprise,the installations was complete and poor installation. Firstly the backboards was not cut to size...so the installation was not done correctly...there are huge gaps between the doors..there are numerous scratches and dents..the doors don't even close...it took the guy 7 hours to do a ****TY job..and we were also told that the cupboards cannot be mounted.please see photos attached and tell me if you pay R15000 for that ****
This what I expect from the builders Team ,a complete refund into my credit card and not my BUILDERS PROFILE because I will not be using builder again and the refund must include my delivery fee and also installation fee.. Which was complete ******* by the way..
I am left with no choice but to voice my concerns and take a stand against intrusive advertising because the installation was not to my standards at all and also take a stand towards intrusive advertising policy. I strongly believer that both the user and customer service should be the forefront of any retails and digital service.
I want to make it clear that if this issue is not addressed promptly and effectively ,I am willing to take drastic measures as I know my rights as a consumer and not afraid to use platforms like hello Peter and consumer boards.
I will not settle for this pathetic service provided by you and to a certain degree false advertising. You also need my permission to do a refund.
Customer service from Sheena/supervisor
I took in a Ryobi chainsaw at Builders N1 city as it was not working anymore. It was the 2nd of July 2024. Was told that it will go away for assessment the Thursday. We went there after 2 weeks. Chainsaw left the store on the 11th July apparently a backlog of repairs as stated by supervisor Sheena.
We went there again today where we were assisted by Noma. She immediately phoned Ryobi to find out what is happening with the chainsaw.
Charlie on phone said that he sent through a quotation for repairs. He was about to sent the item back because nobody contacted him back.
Apparently the e-mails was not working.
There was no follow up done from the store side.
I will now have to phone Charlie the repairs person myself and sort out the repair and the payment for repair.
Desired outcome: Builders can pay for repairs that must be done.

Refund not received in over a month
I placed an online order on 27 Nov. Builders then phoned me to say the 1 item was not in stock and they would refund me for that product which they did. They then phoned me a second time to let me know another item is not in stock and that they would refund the money for the second product which they did. The remainder of my order was still not delivered in 5days so I emailed them to cancel the remainder of the order. They then phoned me again to confirm the cancelation on 3 Dec and provided me with an email stating that I would be refunded within 3 to 5 days. I emailed them more than 5 times to follow up on the remainder of the refund and either don't get a response or get told different things each time. I then decided to phone their call centre twice on 3 Jan and still no resolution.
I want my money back. This is ridiculous service right through from sales to after service. Horrible

Ryobi petrol trimmer
I bought the Trimmer in June 2023 at the Tokai Branch in Cape Town. It has broken down three time over the last 2 months with the same problem. Ryobi charged for the repairs on two occasions, which I paid. I refused to pay for the third repair - ref 150606. This is either an inferior product or Ryobi's repair service is poor.
Please investigate.

Tried several times to get price on ceiling board (pvc) by phoning but no luck. Then drove all the way from Daleside Witkopdorp to Bedworhpark Builders asked lady at desk for price no must go to the back we'll place is so big where at back walk all the way floor guy take me outside where pvc ceiling is on shelves no price long story short ask the white person for help no ask lade next to him she is on phone for 5 minutes than ask what I need I asked for price on ceiling board then she tells me ask the next lady all and all 46 minutes off my time gone. This lady than help another guy before me I will never use any builders again [protected] my contact if anyone ever ask me about builders this will be my story
Withholding refund
On 9 October I attempted to buy fencing online but there was a glitch on builders warehouse side. The order was cancelled. I have since tried to get my refund. After numerous requests still getting run around "we have escalated the problem..." Seems that it is a robot working there as it is the only reply.. if any. It is a simple EFT that needs to be made! This is theft and I will now report to police and proceed with legal action.
Desired outcome: There is no excuse for not returning my money. Banking details etc were provided.

After this experience I will never buy another product from this company , their service is pathetic and the manager Lionel Faro , is extremely arrogant and disinterested in assisting.
I purchased a Golden Air portable air-conditioning unit costing R 499.00 about 9 months ago. The box states there is a 12 month warranty .I had lost the invoice and the admin manager said she can't help , because there supplier would not credit Builders . The item is faulty and she said they can't look up my purchase , she even suggested I cud have purchased it at Game , quite disgusting indeed. Then I asked for the store manager. A person called Lionel Faro, he turned out to be arrogant and totally disinterested, he told me to go rummage amongst my statements. Needless to say i told him to keep the product and throw it away. We live in a small community and I have already told my circle of friends not to shop there .
If a company is prepared to take your money but refuses to offer any after sakes service , then that's not in line with the CPA . Builders attitude is disgracefully and disappointing.
Desired outcome: Complaint about service from manager Lionel should be investigated, an apology.
Refund not paid
On the 4th Oct placed my order paid sametime on line with capitec pay.
By the 9th gad no communication with delivery nothing, in the morning looked online my order was canceled.
Later the afternoon I got a email for color choice which was chosen online already when order was placed I went back online to see a second order placed with exactly same detail.
I then proceeded to cancel the order as I thought it's canceled and got what I need elsewhere that day.
Money credited to the online account which I never used to pay.
Today is the 15th countless calls countless emails with nothing nothing nothing I am still awaiting my funds into my capitec account

Courier guys from cosmo business park
Good day.
I have bought 2 showers from builders online and when the courier guys brought the telescopic showers and panels, they decided to leave them outside the house. I tried to talk them through the importance of not leaving those lying down. They gave me attitude and said we are leaving them here and they left.
My parcel was deliverd from cosmo business park, (tg8xmf) reference given to me. That was very poor service i had received. I had tp ask neighbors to come help lift those fragoile panels and put them inside the house.
I have pictures as evidence of how neglient they had left the glass showers, which i would love to attach so that you also see for yourself. That was disrespectful, lack of morals and customer care.
Desired outcome: I'd appreciate a response.
Online item ordered and Cancelled
I ordered a JoJo Water Tank Level Indicator online on 09/08/2023.
I waited for delivery and after 20 days I was told that the item will take another 5 days to be delivered to Builders Warehouse Secunda.
After 5 days I enquired again about the delivery of the item. I was then told that the item is discontinued. Order was cancelled by Builders and I was refunded.
A day later I saw that the product is still advertised on the Web and there are still stock available. But now all of a sudden If I want to order this item online I need to pay R2000 for delivery but previously before Builders cancelled my order I did not need to pay shipping because the order qualified for free to be delivered to Secunda Builders Warehouse.
This was False advertising and not good service
Desired outcome: Send me the item from another store as the original order was to Secunda Builders and shipping/delivery included in original price of R1397.00
Jojo tanks
On the 26 of June 2023 I paid for 4 2400l Jojo Tanks also specified the colours and went to the yard to verify the availability of the stock so that I can collect later which they had.
On the 17 of July 2023 I decided to collect the tanks only to find out that my tanks were sold.
I was promised the tanks will be delivered to me 2 days later that didn't happen it finally happed on Tuesday 20th after I went countless time to ask for my tanks. The issue that I have is that the staff have the sense of urgency and good customer service.
1. The reason why my tanks were sold is because the sales person didn't put the sold sticker on the tanks.
2. The driver didn't follow the route plan as planned.
3. Non response from the supervisor doesn't take calls and no follow ups
4. Contractor front desk stuff don't have any ideas of their work.

I purchased rust oleum spray paint at the tokai store the day before I started my project and on the day returned the faulty spray canister the gentleman in charge refused me a refund and said that it was almost empty even though 30 percent was left and after a long debate, and me proving him wrong, and that the product was indeed faulty he offered me a discount on the faulty item that I purchased. The canister sprayed intermittently and blotches came out he then said it has no too little air pressure in it which is obviously a failed and faulty canister he was very arrogant and his attitude was a bit appalling for a manager of the paint section

Poor online sale service, refund policy and higher prices
I purchased an inverter via online, paid for it with my RCS card and the amount came off my card. This was on the 23rd Feb. Delivery date was scheduled for the 9th March. On the 9th Mar I called in for an update, it was like no one new of the order. Then they communicated there is no stock and the department will be contacted for an update. The department responded the supplier had no stock. Then went on, initially I did all the communication. No one from builders contacted me. Only one customer person tried her best, Jonnelle Siljeur but she also got no joy from no one. On the 19th May, see how long I have been waiting and no one from builders offered any alternatives, I had to ask and till now they could not give me a like for like. On the 26th May, the refund was initiated. Don't know when it was completed but my RCS was never credited. When I asked, they said they do refunds to RCS accounts. I don't understand this as builders is part of RCS. I also asked as Builders did not fulfill the order, to refund the interest charged, there is no answer on that. I was told that I must escalate to RCS even though Builders is a partner in RCS. I have still not received my refund and I am totally disgusted in the overall service from a company that been in South Africa so long. Your prices on certain products are also above most competitives and no one can explain this to me. The department seems to be no existent in all this and no manager has ever called me to apologise. I need the CEO or Vice CEO to contact me. They need to know their company has appalling service.

Inverter not working correctly.
We have returned a Lalela inverter that had issues. R7000 for this inverter. It was returned 23/05/2023 and to date not a peep from Builders. Its unacceptable. I want a phone call today and this inverter must either be fixed or a new one provided. Its a joke that we need to wait this long with this crappy products and services you provide

Swartland doors - poor quality product
I am a very unhappy customer - in January 2023 I complained to Builders Warehouse Constantiaberg that one of my internal SWARTLAND DOORS was coming apart. A Swartland representative came out to look at the door and simply glued the door and since then the door has not fit properly in the frame. The second SWARTLAND DOOR that had been installed at the same time as the first started coming apart completely and I again complained to BUILDERS WAREHOUSE about this poor quality product as a second door was coming apart. Last week when a rep came to my house to view my complaint he acknowledged that there seemed to be problem. On Friday SWARTLAND DOORS brought me a new door for the second door and said nothing about the first door. When I queried as to who was going to do the installation of the door as we had already paid a carpenter the first time around to do the installation of the 2 doors - the reps did not know but would ask their "management" to date I am waiting for a response from both Builders Warehouse and Swartland Doors as I am NOT PAYING TWICE FOR THE SAME THING!

Builders fail to comply with their refund policy
Builders Tableview fail to comply with their refund policy. I bought products on 14 April 2023, Builders than refuse to do delivery which made it impossible for me and I had to cancel and request refund. I provided copy of ID and bankstatement they requested. To date, Builder refuse to pay me back. Builders manager has patronising attitude and do not call me back or respond to my emails. I called the customerservice numerous time and still they refuse and failed to pay me back. Poor service and manager is rude and refuse to resolve the request. This is absolutely fraud and Builders are steeling my money. This is unfair treatment to consumers and must be refered to consumer protection tribunal.
Desired outcome: I want my refund paid immediately.
Bosch stove
Last year March we bought a Bosch stove at Builders Warehouse Gaborone but on the 5th of April I launched a complaint that the stove wasn't working and kept showing an E error on it n kept shutting itself off. I was told that the technician was going to be sent to my house in less than 10 days but that never happened and I kept calling the store numerous times. The technician only came to the house on the 19th of April and the problem why the stove wasn't working was never clear to start. 1st he said I use wrong pot size which was not true then he moved on to say the kitchen counter where the stove was placed was small and needed to be increased. Finally he said he was going to replace the motherboard of the stove which still by now he wasn't. I went back to the store the next day after he came here to ask what I should be using in the mean time and why I can't get an exchange on the stove but was never helped. Pls help

Ryobi rg-1200 generator 1200w 4-stroke
On the 28th March 2023 I purchased the Ryobi RG-1200 Generator 1200W 4-Stroke via online (Builders Online Invoice [protected]) and was delivered on the 29th the following day. My problem was that the generator was faulty and leaking petrol and I decided to take it back at builders warehouse at Southgate branch for repairs and I was told it will take 14 days for the product to repair. on the 24th I received a call from one of the staff member from Southgate to apologize for the delay as they kept my Generator at their warehouse and were requesting if its ok to book the generator for the repair on the 28th April 2023, Because I was already frustrated for waiting for so long.
on the 20th April 2023 I then purchased another Generator online Ryobi RG-1200 Generator 1200W 4-Stroke (Builders Online Invoice [protected]) That is working OK, and I requested to be refunded for the first generator. The customer service online keep on sending me from pillar to post making empty promises by taking my details and invoice number and fail to come back to me.
Desired outcome: It's been two weeks now ever since I am waiting for my refund for the first generator that was faulty. Please arrange for my refund to be paid at least before end of this week.
Kreepy krauly dominator
Good day,
On the 22th April i went to the builders Express store Florida Glen to price the Dominator Kreepy 2 heel deign. It was market as R2799.99. I even took a picture of the price
I then went back on the 25th April, requested assistance on the product and waited 15min for someone to come and help. Staff were callled and the person at the desk gave me attitude saying he called them via the speaker he doesn't know where they are and he will let their manager know...not leaving his space to attempt to assist me.
I walked around the store waiting to see some life and eventually found someone and called them to assist me. When i asked is the product R2799.99? His response was YES.
So he carried the product to the till and upon scanning it was R3999,99, he told the cashier its wrong coz the price listed was R2799,99
I refused to pay that amount as the price listed was R2799.99, the manger was then called and he himself has no idea what the price was...he then then lied and said they did a system upgrade yesterday and he cant sell the product to me i can due to the system upgrade (which made no sense) and he even mentioned he was unable to void the transaction!
He went back and forth to the self and couldn't explain the price difference and constantly used the "system upgrade as an excuse.
Keep in mind...There was not 1 price label in that area for R3999,99...All Kreepy's where between R2799,99 and R2999,99
Due to their lies and stories and lack of understanding their own pricing, and the stroppy attitude i received i was in no mood to argue with the manager and create a scene in the store.
The cashier voided the price magically, and the system had no issues and i was able purchase a globe...
What a joke!
Desired outcome: To purchase the Dominator Keepy at the advertise price with no hassle and drama.It is unacceptable and they wasted almost an hour of my time with no consideration for the customer.
Trimtech lawnmower and trimmer
MIDRAND BUILDERS DEFECTIVE ITEMS AND ATROCIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Your customer service is so bad. I bought a trim tech lawmower and trimmer set on 01 april 23 at 12.12pm. Used it once only. Put it on today its smoking. Went to builders midrand. Staff tell me 21 days to fix. Or i take to trim tech myself. I left the items valued for 1899.00 at midrand and walked out. If you want to sell me defective things and then tell me 21 days to repair. The two people at customer services were more interested in each other! Pics below is of me leaving these goods at customer service counter without resolution
Desired outcome: Refund on defective products as I bought a new set at Makro!!
