Thanks Ron and Samantha for my new backyard
Thanks Ron and Samantha for my new backyard. The block wall and wood fence look great. I appreciate your detailed info about the financing and the project!
I had a meeting with the project manager and secured a backyard contract
I had a meeting with the project manager and secured a backyard contract. The manager also called me later that day to inquire if they could commence work on my backyard without waiting for my HOA approval. I instructed them not to proceed without the HOA's consent. Subsequently, I received a more competitive offer from a different contractor. Consequently, I am attempting to terminate my initial contract. When I spoke to customer service on 4/XX at X:XXpm, I was informed that cancellation was not possible as material orders had commenced and I had signed a waiver. The representative promised to discuss the matter with the project manager. Later, customer service contacted me regarding the cancellation, agreeing to it but requiring me to cover expenses exceeding a certain amount due to the waiver. I requested a copy of the waiver, which they declined to provide, stating it was with the legal department. I cited my three-day right to cancel, as I was within that period, having signed the contract on 4/25 and attempting cancellation on 4/26. Despite this, the representative insisted on the payment for incurred expenses. The Notice of Cancellation I signed clearly states I can cancel without penalty within three business days. Without a copy of the waiver, I contested their claims. The representative suggested that continuing the project might be more cost-effective than paying the cancellation fees. Despite my clear right to cancel, they are still pressing for payment.

Everything was started and finished in less than a week. Before any work was done, I was shown references. They offered us a great deal with a warranty. Be aware of this company and the "5 star reviews!
Be aware of this company and the "5 star reviews!"
My projects have been a nightmare from the start. Also, this company overcharges low-income/middle-class folks and won't provide detailed lists of where your money is going. They even offer incentives for positive online reviews. You can tell by the many new accounts that only have 5-star reviews and not much else.
This alone should make you question the authenticity of every review on this site and others. The total costs of my projects are more than 2.5 times the price of similar ones from local, small businesses that have their own contractors. They don't hire subcontracted workers who can't communicate!
All the subcontractors were dressed in ragged clothes, didn't speak English, and I had to make them redo their work multiple times due to mistakes, poor craftsmanship, or language barriers. They also charged me for services and materials that I had changed in the design process and no longer needed. The project manager, ***, told me, "too bad, it's already done."
They also sold this project to my mother as a government "grant" with a "low-interest" rate, but it turned out to be a predatory loan with a 10.45% INTEREST RATE! Who considers that "low interest?!"
Don't trust these people, they will lie and deceive you to get your money or make you take out loans so they can get paid. *** and PHILIP are the two snake-oil salesmen I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with.
Furthermore, every time I had a meeting, "PHILIP" the "foreman" was never on time! He was always 30-45 minutes late! I run my own business and have things to do, and time is important! Also, he acts dumb whenever problems come up and has no problem accepting poor quality work as "acceptable."
Build for You Remodeling, led by the project manager, made a lot of promises to upgrade various areas of my home, including the kitchen.
Build for You Remodeling, led by the project manager, made a lot of promises to upgrade various areas of my home, including the kitchen, master bedroom, garden, and solar. However, after 4 months, only the solar project has been completed. The rest of my house is in complete disarray and a disaster. Let me share with you how it all unfolded.
Firstly, when the project manager came to pitch his services, he helped himself to the fruit from my trees without even asking. It was quite rude and inconsiderate.
Secondly, we had a disagreement about how to add concrete to the shower. I suggested using the older method, which is more effective and less likely to leak, but the project manager insisted on using concrete walls, which are faster, cheaper, and less effective in the long run.
Next, his workers left garbage in my master closet for a whopping 2 months. I had to take matters into my own hands and remove the garbage myself. It was frustrating and disappointing.
The tile guys he sent to install tile in my kitchen did a terrible job. The tiles were completely crooked, and they were difficult to work with. I had to spend an evening ripping up the tiles and getting them fixed. It was a huge inconvenience.
I provided the project manager with examples of the kitchen countertop I wanted, hoping he would take care of it. However, he never followed through, leaving me with no choice but to go to a countertop fabricator and handle it myself. It was a hassle that could have been avoided.
To make matters worse, the project manager never ordered any materials or supplies, except for bathroom tiles, which weren't even enough and caused further delays. I had to take matters into my own hands and order everything myself. It became clear that he lacked the necessary skills in this area.
The electrical team he sent to work on my house left holes in the car charger outlets, installed flip switches upside down, and left holes in the walls. These issues sat in my house for weeks before I took it upon myself to fix them. It was frustrating to see such careless work.
To add insult to injury, the project manager threatened to put a lien on my house after I fired him. He demanded more money than the full amount owed, even though the kitchen and shower were less than half finished. This was after I had already given him $47,000 to start the project. It was a complete betrayal of trust.
Lastly, the project manager claimed to be the owner of Build for You Remodeling, but he is actually just a project "manager." This misrepresentation was misleading and unprofessional.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against hiring this project manager and Build for You Remodeling. They will only bring destruction to your home, lack effective communication, and take your money without delivering satisfactory results.
