Britannia Hotels review: The Norbreck Catle Hotel, Blackpool

I booked a room at the Norbreck Castle Hotel, Blackpool via Expedia for 28th & 29th August. When I arrived at the room I found the toilet hadn't been cleaned, it was caked in excrement and the flush wouldn't work. I tried to call reception on the phone in the room. It wasn't working either. Someone eventually came up and fixed the flush and cleaned the toilet.

That night, a gang of idiots occupied the room next to mine at around 11pm. They proceeded to screen, slam doors, run up and down the corridor and slam God knows what into the adjoining wall. At 1am, I called reception and security arrived. It calmed down for a few minutes, then started again. I heard other guest in the corridor complaining and someone went down to reception. By this point I was seriously considering going out to my car where I might at least get some peace! Again security arrived. It went on. At 3.30am, I called Reception again, and finally the troublemaker were thrown out.

I spoke with the manager the following morning who assured me I would get a proper night's sleep that night (29th August).

Though I was shattered, I spend the day in Blackpool. When I arrived back at the hotel, I called at the snack bar on the ground floor. A man was already standing at the counter with a young boy. When the staff member emerged from the kitchen, I gestured to the man and boy to say that they were there before me - not knowing that they'd already been served. Said to me, rather sarcastically I thought, "Do you think this is my first day doing this job?!" Nice!

At 1am, a wedding party who had adjoining rooms opposite mine arrived back, clearly drunk. They then started shouting to each other and going in and out of each other's rooms - slamming the doors each time. The following morning,, I threw my belongings in the car and left. I was so tired, I could barely keep my eyes open driving down the M55 & M6 motorways back to St. Helens.

Despite ALL of this, I wasn't offered to much as a cup of tea as way of an apology for what went on at the Norbreck Castle, and the fact that you yourselves have not had the good grace to replay to me has just added insult to injury!

That weekend in Blackpool was the first break I'd had in over a decade, having spent 7 years as the sole carer of both my Mum and Aunt who had Dementia. It was completely ruined!

I've tried to contact Britannia Hotels directly, but there's no proper email address, and the form on their website is throwing up obstacles so that is unusable.
