They don't deserve one star. I feel like I've been scammed out of money, and definitely wasted a good amount of my time. Don't even try using this company.

This is a total scam. Don't use this. I tried to do an employment check for job seekers and they totally lied about what they offer. Use a trustworthy site that's worth the money.

This company didn't give the services. I called lots of times and emailed their customer service to get my money back. It's 99.00. Not a big deal. The sad part is they wouldn't answer and wouldn't do the request. There was no solution and they couldn't even have a real person follow up.

I did a national background check on myself 'cause I know I got some stuff in FL and GA, and these guys said I got "no hits"? Seriously? I went on the FDLE website and it came up right away. Such a waste of $24.00. I hope folks see this and this shady company goes under.

Terrible company and customer service. I used this company to run background checks on candidates I am staffing, and most of them had such a hard time, I needed to find a different solution. It says that if they have trouble, to call customer service, who then (rudely) tell them they can't do anything because it's my company that runs the check. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE OF A COMPANY. SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE.

This has been the worst experience of all time. They ran a background check for housing and printed contradicting information on my criminal report that resulted in not getting approved. I have been trying to get them to fix the discrepancy that is very clear in public records! It is very clear no one reviews the accuracy of these reports and if this is not updated or changed in the next day or so as I have been waiting. You will be hearing from my lawyer since it is clear in court records the information printed is INCORRECT.

I'd give zero stars if I could. This company charged me for the service we wanted, but all they did was make me wait for two weeks to deactivate my account. We tried to contact backgroundchecks.com through phone, voicemail, online chat, and email. They didn't answer or reply to any of our attempts. Their lack of communication and failure to provide the paid services caused projects to be delayed. Avoid this place. It's the worst customer service example.

Why do I have to even leave this sorry company 1 Star? I needed a quick copy of my Driving Record to email to an Apostille in D.C. to be sent overseas. Background checks.com sent me an incomplete report showing both my name and birthdate could not be verified! I had to have a friend receive the paper copy from the DMV in my home state to be sent to D.C. for Apostille. This wasted a lot of time that I did not have. My home state DMV found both my name and birthdate for $5. Background checks charged me $49.99 for a worthless document. I phoned customer service and they refused a refund. These guys are CROOKS! Now, I’m having to open and pursue a claim with my credit card company to get my money back!

Stay away from this company, seriously. I filled out all my info on their website like two whole months ago, and they charged my credit card, but guess what? No report. I finally got fed up and opened a ticket for an update, and you won't believe how long it took them to reply. Twenty-nine days! And all they said was to email the help desk or call their 800 number. So I tried calling this Kelly person, but surprise, surprise, they're never available. I left like five voicemails, and still nothing. I even sent them five emails with all the documents they asked for, and all they keep saying is that they need to verify my credentials. Can you believe it? This company is a total joke. I've attached some pictures to this review to prove that I actually called and the time of the ticket. Don't let them take advantage of you like they did to me.

This company is a total rip off! They say they can provide a background report within 24 hours, but that's a bunch of baloney. I started the process on 2/4 and even though I sent them the documents they asked for, they still haven't set up an Account for me or given me the background report I requested. The emails they send are so generic and don't explain why they can't set up my Account. When I call Customer Service, they're useless. I talked to two different Client Service Reps and they couldn't help me at all. They just didn't even bother trying. They finally told me they have an IT problem, but my Account is still not set up and they're not even making an effort. They had no problem taking my money on 2/5, but they haven't given me anything in return. I asked for a refund and to cancel the whole request, but now they're ignoring me. They won't answer my calls or emails, and they even hang up on me when I call. It's so unprofessional. I would never recommend them to anyone. I had to give them a star to post this review, but honestly, if I could, I would give them negative stars.

Terrible, I wish I would have read these first but when you look up backgroundchecks.com it pulls up another address in Tennessee which shows its ComplaintsBoard.com accredited. But anyway, charged me $166 initially which was more than it was supposed to be, but since I was in a hurry I agreed. Then they hit my credit card for another $43 for an employment verification which was supposed to cost $12.50. I actually called the employer myself and confirmed the info in about five minutes. I never got any reports because they said they could not credential me. Due to the nature of my business, I could not provide them with the exact documents they wanted and they would not give any effort to work with me. I am legitimate and can be looked up on the IRS website if you really wanted to do it. Finally, after I was begging and begging for them to work with me on the credentialing, Malcolm called me and said they were going to refund all my money, which was $209. So basically as everyone else said this is a ripoff. I was referred to this site through hireright.com which I think now owns them.

I signed up for a background check from Backgroundchecks.com, expecting it to be instant. But after paying for the service, we were informed that it would actually take up to 3 days. Later, we received an email stating that it would now take 30 days. We called the representative, who informed us that there was nothing they could do and we simply had to wait. We are now requesting a complete refund.

I recently tried to log into our account at backgroundchecks.com, which we've been using actively since June . However, we received a message saying that our account is inactive in the system. The message instructed us to call an 866 number. We, multiple people in our organization, tried contacting the number, but we never got a response or a call back. Several times, the line just went dead. To make matters worse, they have also taken payment from us recently, but we haven't received any background checks. This is not acceptable. We rely on this background check service to ensure that we are responsibly safeguarding those under our care. Moreover, we are currently unable to access any of our records. This is a major issue, and I urgently request a prompt resolution.

On 10/16, I ordered a background check for a household employee. She signed up and finished her part. Then, on 10/20, I got another invoice, which I paid. I didn't hear anything from BackgroundChecks.com until 11/11 when I got an automated email saying they closed my account! They said they needed more documents to verify that I'm an employer, but didn't provide a list of what those documents were. I replied to the email they sent (as it said to do) many times, and called the listed phone number many times. When you call, it gives the option to request a call back - which I did many times and never got a call back. I also sat on hold waiting for someone to pick up and got a robotic automatic message saying the hold time is "***". It repeats that message until it hangs up on you. At this point, it seems like this is NOT a legit business, which is concerning since my employee and I provided personal info. If this is indeed a legit business, I need them to return my emails/phone calls right away. In the meantime, I'll file a complaint with my credit card to get my money back.

My hubby set up a trip for our fam and some pals to do good in Kentucky in July. The group we're helping out needs us to have background checks. We reached out to BackgroundChecks.com and explained our situation. They said they'd do the checks for us, even though we're not a biz. My hubby paid for all 13 of us to get checked. We all went online and gave our deets to the service. Gotta mention, they made it clear that the reports would go to my hubby before we handed over our info. We got notifications that the checks were done. Today, BackgroundChecks.com called my hubby and said they changed their minds - they won't send him the completed checks. And we can't see our own reports 'cause they say my hubby paid for 'em. They won't give us our money back either. They said my hubby can ask for a refund and they'll think about it. They knew we weren't a company when they took the payment, but now they're using that to keep us from seeing the reports.

I understood there would be some verification process of my company which from their disclosures would be very simple and should not take long. I could not see all the details of that verification process until I ordered and paid for the reports, which originally was $166 (that was including an unknown $40 which I agreed to because I was in a hurry). A couple days later they then charged me another $43 for an employment verification without much information why it was more (they were supposed to be 12.50 which I paid for already). Just to give you an idea how easy this verification was I called the company myself and verified the persons employment in about five minutes. After a few days I tried to check on the credentialing process. They wanted some very specific documents that I did not have because I am a not-for-profit unincorporated association that has been around for 50 years. I did not have any current documents from the IRS and unfortunately the IRS does not answer phone calls for their FEIN verification letters. I begged and begged backgroundchecks.com to work with me on another way to verify I even showed them the link to the IRS website that would have verified me but no one would even think about that. They could have looked me up on the IRS website themselves if they did not trust my link and I also gave them some other information from the State Insurance Department website. I file annual tax forms with the IRS as well as payroll taxes, etc, but I was told I need specific documents. Finally that day *** called me and said they would just refund my $209. I have not seen that refund, and the company deleted my account and will not respond to my emails. I just want my money back. I was able to get the background check done by another company that was willing to work with me.
