AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: Lack of Authenticity and Heavy-Handed Moderation

AVS Forum is a website where members share their opinions on audio and video products. However, it seems that many members simply parrot the opinions of others without actually having any personal experience with the products they discuss. It's a shame that so many members seem to lack the confidence to form their own opinions.

Another issue with AVS Forum is that some members seem to ask the same questions year after year without ever actually buying anything. It's frustrating to see people waste so much time and energy on something they have no intention of actually purchasing.

One thing that many members seem to be obsessed with is calibration. They spend countless hours mulling over calibration settings in the hopes of achieving small, incremental gains. While it's certainly important to have a well-calibrated system, it's easy to get carried away with the process.

Unfortunately, the moderators on AVS Forum can be quite heavy-handed. They will ban members without any explanation, which can be frustrating for those who have invested time and energy into the community. Additionally, some members seem to enjoy baiting others into debates, only to run to the mods and have the other member banned once things get heated.

Overall, AVS Forum is a pretty terrible place. The only people who seem to enjoy it are those who are new to the audio and video home theater market and are easily impressed by the opinions of others. If you're looking for a more authentic and informative community, you're better off looking elsewhere.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: Hit or Miss for Advice, Frustrating Layout

It's frustrating to say the least.

However, I will say that there are some knowledgeable people on this site who are willing to help and give good advice. It just takes some digging to find them.

The layout of the site is also a bit confusing and overwhelming at first. There are so many different sections and sub-forums that it can be hard to navigate. But once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad.

Overall, I would say that AVS Forum can be hit or miss. Sometimes you'll get great advice and other times you'll just end up arguing with someone who thinks they know everything. But if you're patient and willing to do some searching, you can find some helpful information on here.

AVS Forum AVSforum: The Ultimate Resource for AV Gear Reviews and Recommendations

AVSforum is a great place to go if you're looking for information on all things AV. I found out about it when I bought my first front PJ screen from AVScience a few years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. The forum is a great resource for finding out the latest information on all sorts of AV gear, and it's helped me set up my entire home theater room.

When I first got into HTPC, AVSforum was my go-to resource for everything from the front projector to the theater seats. I was able to get recommendations from other users who had already gone through the process, and I was able to avoid a lot of the pitfalls that come with setting up a home theater.

Later on, when I was furnishing my office with plasmas and LCD HDTVs, I used the powerbuys off of the website to buy them. It was a great way to save money and get high-quality gear at the same time.

If you're an active member of the forums, I highly recommend becoming an AVS club member. It's well worth the price of admission, and you'll get access to a lot of great resources that aren't available to non-members.

Overall, I would definitely recommend AVSforum to anyone who is interested in AV gear. It's a great resource for information, and the community is very helpful and knowledgeable. Whether you're setting up a home theater or just looking for some new gear, AVSforum is the place to go.

AVS Forum Positive Experience with AVS Forum: A Great Resource for Home Theater Systems

I'm pretty surprised to see some negative reviews about AVS Forum (avsforum.com). I've been using this site since the late 90s and have been a member since 2002. It's definitely had its ups and downs, but overall, I've had a positive experience. One of the biggest issues I remember was the password reset problem from a couple of years ago that accidentally locked some users out of their accounts. However, I didn't experience any problems with that.

As for people ganging up and attacking each other, I've never seen that happen in the 2 decades I've been on the site. Sure, there are a few people who are probably overzealous about their particular subject (like saying BOSE is evil or insisting that more subwoofers are always better), but that's just how some people are. Overall, I've always had good luck in getting advice and just throwing in some of my own common sense for good measure.

One of the most useful sections of the site is the guidance for building your own theater in your home. That section seems to have the most science and the least amount of ego. It's definitely helped me out a lot in the past, and I'm sure it will continue to do so in the future.

All in all, I think AVS Forum is a great resource for anyone who's interested in home theater systems. It's not perfect, but what website is? As long as you take everything with a grain of salt and use your own common sense, you should be fine.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: A Place for Hi-Fi Audio Discussion or Childish Behavior?

This site, AVS Forum, is a place where people come to discuss hi-fi audio. However, it seems that some of the members on this site don't really know what they're talking about. When someone presents facts or educated opinions that contradict what these members are saying, they tend to gang up on that person and call them names. It's really quite childish.

I think that these members are just trying to hide the fact that they don't really know what they're talking about. They either don't want to admit that they're wrong, or they want to justify why their low-budget or DIY components are better than true hi-end work of art. It's really quite sad.

It's hard to get honest and unbiased information from the members on this site when the clicks rule the various forums. If you're confident in your comments, you should just post facts and your educated opinions without attacking people who disagree with you. It's important to have opposing comments so that we can research the truth.

At the end of the day, your ears are your best tool for measuring hi-fi audio devices. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. If you're looking for a place to discuss hi-fi audio, this site might not be the best place for you. But if you're willing to wade through the insults and childish behavior, you might find some useful information here.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: Biased Opinions and Censorship on Audio, Video, and Home Theater Products

The AVS Forum, also known as avsforum.com, is a place where you can find information about various products related to audio, video, and home theater. However, it is important to note that the forum is not always reliable due to the presence of biased opinions and censorship.

One of the main issues with the forum is that some members tend to push products as good, even if they are not. If someone disagrees with them, their post may get deleted, especially if it may affect the sales of sponsored products. This means that you cannot always rely on the information provided on the forum, as negative news is often censored out.

Moreover, some members may have hidden agendas, such as testing products for their own benefit or being a disguised representative of a company. This can lead to biased opinions and false information being spread on the forum.

Another problem with the forum is that some members may attack you and even gang up on you if they are not winning a debate. They may call in for reinforcements and try to make it so uncomfortable for you that you will want to leave and never post your experiences or knowledge again. In some cases, they may even run to AVS to have your post deleted if they cannot win and are embarrassed publicly.

Due to these issues, it is difficult to count on the AVS Forum for the real goods on products. There may be followings on some products, as well as all the censorship, which can make it hard to get an unbiased opinion.

It is important to understand that the AVS Forum is a business and must do everything it can to support the businesses it may represent. This means that you should take everything you read on the forum with a grain of salt and do your own research before making any decisions.

Overall, the AVS Forum can be a useful resource for finding information about audio, video, and home theater products. However, it is important to be aware of the potential biases and censorship on the forum and to do your own research before making any decisions.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: A Toxic Community That Punishes Dissent

I got banned from AVS Forum before for posting something that didn't sit well with the regulars. Apparently, you can't have an opinion that goes against the grain or you'll get reported and receive infractions. I didn't insult anyone or break any rules, but I still got jumped on by a lot of people. When I defended myself, I got insulted a few times and insulted back. That's when I got permanently banned from the forums. That was back in 2014. In 2015, I made a new account and just used it to share information, not to post.

Recently, I posted a guide for people who were having trouble with Audyssey room correction. Some people tried it and it worked for them, but most people were against it. I got warnings from the mods for my behavior, even though all I did was disagree back. Aren't forums supposed to be about debates and discussions?

The mods merged my thread and guide into the official Audyssey thread without warning. Suddenly, people were complaining and telling me that I made my point. I got an infraction for "making it my own thread," even though the mods put me in that thread without telling me.

If you agree with the people on AVS Forum or make friends with the mods, you can get away with anything. You can insult people, belittle people, and do whatever you want. But if you're new to a thread and don't conform, you'll get attacked by the regulars. If you fight back, you'll get banned and your threads will get deleted by the mods. They protect the egos of the regulars instead of treating everyone equally. I was on that forum for almost five years, but I was treated like a "peace disturbance."

I wouldn't recommend AVS Forum to anyone, not even my worst enemy.

AVS Forum AVS Forum: A Comprehensive Resource for Entertainment Reviews and Discussions

This review is about AVS Forum, a website that provides reviews and discussions about various entertainment mediums. As a human being, I believe that everyone has their own unique perspective when it comes to evaluating TV shows, movies, and music. What one person may consider to be great, another may find to be terrible. It's all subjective.

When it comes to entertainment, I have my own grading system. There's harmless entertaining "crap" that you can watch without feeling guilty, marginally harmful entertaining "crap" that may not be the best for you, and very harmful entertaining "crap" that you should avoid at all costs. I often find myself calling a lot of TV shows and movies "very harmful crap!" Sure, they may feel good to watch, but that doesn't mean they're good for you.

However, there are also some movies and TV shows that are just plain lame and marginal. These are the ones that the big studios keep churning out, like the Fast and Furious franchise. Then there are the ones that are not only lame, but also dangerous. Movies like Independence Day and Armageddon promote a sickening nationalist agenda that I find to be morally reprehensible. But, at the same time, they can be fun to watch.

Some people say that I hate everything, but that's not true. I have two sets of interpretive goggles that I use when watching movies and TV shows. The first set allows me to enjoy what I'm watching without any judgement. The second set allows me to see beyond the surface-level entertainment and critique what I'm watching.

For example, I loved the movies Pretty Woman and Love Actually, but I also recognize that they are ideologically poisonous. Pretty Woman completely ignores the realities of class and socioeconomic status, while Love Actually perpetuates the myth of the happy boy-meets-girl ending and American exceptionalism. And don't even get me started on Top Gun and its Cold War grossness.

When it comes to TV shows, I think that The Ark is mostly harmless crap. It has some multiculturalism and mixed nationalities, which is a nice change from the usual nationalist agenda that we see in a lot of movies and TV shows. The plot twists and character development are also pretty good, although it lacks the superior philosophical reflections of Battlestar Galactica.

Overall, I think that AVS Forum is a great resource for anyone who loves movies, TV shows, and music. It's a place where you can find reviews and discussions about all kinds of entertainment, and it's a great way to connect with other people who share your interests.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: Beware of the "Forum Police" and Technical Snake Oil

AVS Forum is a website that claims to be all about "Video Science." However, as many users have pointed out, the forum is dominated by "forum police" who dictate what the "official" viewpoint and facts are about any given topic. If you stick to the forum dictated commercial sell jobs, you will be okay. But if you dare to ask or raise any questions that differ from the "official stand" on a matter, be prepared to be attacked or even banned.

The site promotes all sorts of technical products and services of questionable value. Those who have a lot of disposable income for high priced hardware but have no clue on how to use it will lap up any and all of the technical snake oil the site sponsors dish out. However, there are some useful tips to be found on the site.

For example, if you want to make Media Assisted Settings for your TV settings, it's better to buy a Disney WOW, Spears & Munsil, or other TV settings disc. You're likely to see better results than with a questionable metered or "pro" $$$ calibration. A consumer-grade TV does not need a meter to make high-quality (accurate?) TV settings... period. Do it if it makes you feel good, but the results will not be visually better and maybe worse than using a disc to make Media Assisted Settings.

Room lighting, distance from the TV screen, and other room conditions dictate more about TV settings than what a metered calibration can do. In fact, given any TV, you could have 5 "pros" with meters do your TV calibration and each obtain 5 different results in settings. Ask the Forum why that should be if all of those calibrations are "accurate" and be prepared to be flamed, harassed, and derided as a heretic. :)

TV calibration is a hugely promoted service on AVS Forum along with the pricey semi-pro or consumer-grade meters and software to do it. They push the idea that to get the "Best" picture on even your $500 to $800 TV, you need to have it professionally calibrated. Yet even the word "Best" is a subjective term that they will throw back in your face if you use it. The members who buy into this sell job spend countless $$$$ and even more hours using the meters and procedures to do and re-do endless "calibrations" always claiming the last was now "accurate."

Most who go through this will find the picture dull, drab, or even the opposite. The truth is room lighting and basic TV settings that work to give you the best visual display in your room and on your TV are what is best. Metered results are most often sterile and not accurate at all, since the meters and people using them vary widely in attaining to any real video standards despite the claims that they do.

In conclusion, AVS Forum can be a useful resource for those who are willing to sift through the noise and find the useful information. However, be prepared to encounter the "forum police" and their "official" viewpoints. And remember, sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: Frustrating to Use, but Offers Useful Information for Audio and Video Equipment

AVS Forum is a website that can be quite frustrating to use. The mods on the site seem to make arbitrary rulings that protect the egos of the regulars who bully around the rest of the users. It's not a very welcoming environment for newcomers.

The site is also full of ads, which can be quite annoying. And if you sign up for their email list, be prepared to be spammed with a lot of unwanted emails.

Despite these issues, AVS Forum does have some useful information. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on the site who can offer helpful advice on a variety of topics related to audio and video equipment.

Overall, if you're willing to put up with the frustrating aspects of the site, there is some valuable information to be found on AVS Forum. But if you're looking for a more welcoming and user-friendly community, you may want to look elsewhere.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: Biased Reviews and Misinformation Galore

AVS Forum used to be a really good site, but now it's all about the money. The sponsors are running the show and they don't want anyone saying anything bad about their products. So if you're looking for honest reviews, you might want to look somewhere else.

Another problem with AVS Forum is that there's a lot of misinformation being spread around. If you ask a question, you're more likely to get a wrong answer than a right one. It's really frustrating, especially if you're trying to make an informed decision about something.

Overall, I'd say that AVS Forum is okay if you take everything with a grain of salt. Just remember that the reviews might not be completely honest and the advice might not be accurate. If you're willing to do your own research and take everything with a grain of salt, then you might find some useful information on this site. But if you're looking for unbiased reviews and reliable advice, you might want to look elsewhere.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Moderators: Incompetent and Unreliable

I gotta say, I've been using AVS Forum for a while now and I'm not too impressed with the moderators. They seem to be pretty incompetent, if you ask me. I mean, the rules clearly state that you have to have exif files in pictures that you post, but I've seen plenty of crt shots that don't have any exif files at all. It's pretty frustrating, especially when you're trying to get accurate information.

And have you seen the last few pages of some of these threads? It's pretty clear that the thread starter is getting paid by AVS to push some kind of digital agenda. I mean, come on. It's pretty obvious.

But the worst part is that AVS continues to let these trolls run wild. There's no credibility with the moderators at all. It's like they don't even care about the quality of the information that's being shared on the forum. It's pretty disappointing, to be honest.

Overall, I'd say that AVS Forum is a pretty mixed bag. There's some good information to be found, but you really have to wade through a lot of garbage to get to it. And the moderators don't seem to be doing much to help.

AVS Forum AVSforum.com: A Technical Haven for Home Theatre and Audio Enthusiasts

I've been checking out AVSforum.com for a while now and I gotta say, it's not really doing it for me. I mean, I can see that they're trying to impress their readers with some of their content, like that DIY theatre project they just posted. It looks pretty good and it's definitely a step up from some of their previous stuff. But overall, I'm just not finding this site very entertaining.

Don't get me wrong, there's definitely some useful information on here if you're into home theatre and audio equipment. But I feel like a lot of the posts are just kind of dry and technical, you know? Like, I don't really care about the minutiae of speaker placement or whatever. I just want to know what sounds good and what doesn't.

One thing I do appreciate about AVSforum is that there seems to be a pretty active community of users. I've seen some interesting discussions in the forums, and it's cool that people are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with each other. But again, a lot of it is just kind of over my head.

Overall, I guess I'd say that AVSforum is worth checking out if you're really into home theatre and audio stuff. But if you're just a casual fan like me, you might find it a little dry and technical. Maybe they could use some more posts that are geared towards a broader audience, you know? Like, something that's not so focused on the nitty-gritty details of audio equipment. But hey, that's just my two cents.

AVS Forum AVS Forum: From Consumer Resource to Vendor Advertisements

AVS Forum used to be a great place to go for information about home theater and audio equipment. But now, it's just a big advertisement. If you don't agree with what they're pushing, you're not welcome. The moderators seem to be in cahoots with the vendors, so you can't trust what they say. It's not a forum for consumers anymore, it's just a way for retailers to sell their products. It's a shame, really.

AVS Forum AVS Forum: A Place for Bullies and Agenda Pushers? My Disappointing Experience

I had a pretty bad experience on AVS Forum recently. I was trying to get some information about the Eversolo DMP-A6 Streamer/ network player, and I came across a post by Mark Rubin. He was saying that the player had certain capabilities that I was pretty sure it didn't have, so I called him out on it.

Well, that's when things got ugly. Rubin and another guy started attacking me, calling me names and saying that I didn't know what I was talking about. I tried to defend myself, but they just kept coming at me. Eventually, they ended the thread and banned me from the forum.

I was really disappointed by this experience. I thought that AVS Forum was supposed to be a place where people could come together and share information about audio and video equipment. But it seems like there are some people on there who just want to bully others and push their own agendas.

If you're thinking about joining AVS Forum, I would definitely be careful. There are some good people on there who are willing to help you out, but there are also some bad apples who will try to tear you down if you disagree with them. Just be prepared to stand up for yourself and don't let them get you down.

AVS Forum AVS Forum Review: Great for Audio/Video Enthusiasts, But Customer Support Needs Improvement

So, I was trying to access AVS Forum (avsforum.com) and got a notification saying "Your Notifications: 3". But then, I saw this message saying "Your IP Address (,..##) is currently awaiting authorization to be enabled for the user (my user name)". I was confused and didn't know what to do. But then, I read the message further and it said "Please check the email address associated with your account and click the authorization link. Click Here to re-send the verification email." So, I did everything they asked me to do, but unfortunately, I still couldn't get through to them.

I tried to contact them through their Contact page, but it didn't work for me. It's like they were avoiding me or something. I felt like I had the plague or something. I was frustrated and didn't know what to do. I just wanted to access the forum and be a part of the community.

I tried to figure out how to contact a real person to fix this issue, but I couldn't find any information on their website. I was lost and didn't know what to do. I wish they had a better system in place to help users who are facing issues like this.

Overall, I think AVS Forum is a great website for people who are interested in audio and video equipment. But, their customer support needs improvement. They should have a better system in place to help users who are facing issues like this.
