Emergency Plumbing Atlas Care Toronto is price gouging by purposefully not providing pricing when you call to book an urgent visit for a residential house drain clog. They say they have to see what the problem is first. Their whole approach seems criminal or very shady when you see how they forced payment. No estimate given and it took 5 minutes to unclog the drain which triggers a call from Atlas Care person to tell you to pay cash $1400. When I said I don't have cash they insisted on a E'transfer no credit cards...they did not share this before the service. I seemed very under the table kind of a situation. I was expecting at the most $300 since it was a quick fix so I complained about the price. They said that is their price and that the plumber can not leave the property until he is paid which seems like a gagster move to me. Under that threat we paid but the whole situation felt very suspect and I feel I have to report it 1) because th eprice was gouging and 2) the threat of a physical person standing in your home not leaving until you pay in cash and not with credit cards seems very wrong. I do think this practice should be investigated...just because you call the emergency line vs normal line the pricing and the threat to pay cash seems very wrong and personally feels like criminal activity to me.
