Ashlar Homes

This builder, Ashlar Homes, LLC, is the worst in the area. They only care about themselves and their contract is completely one-sided. We signed a contract on July 27th with a close date of February 25th. However, the owner, ***, changed the date to March 9th without telling us why. We had to visit three different lots because their realtor didn't know which one would work for a walkout. From July to October, there was no progress on the house, not even a hole dug. We threatened to go elsewhere if there was no progress in the following week. At a builder meeting on October 5th, *** said that the *** was holding up permits, but I contacted *** myself and found out that Ashlar had not even submitted permits yet. In November, the basement was finally poured, but it was poured in the wrong direction, causing aesthetic and functionality issues. We contacted ***, but he said it had to be poured that way for elevation. The house sat for months waiting for windows to be installed and the close date was moved to an unknown future date. They also put huge landscape rocks in the front yard without consulting us, cutting our useable space in half. To fix it, they would have to put up handrails on our front porch, which was initially quoted at 3K but ended up being 8K due to a price increase. We had to deal with uneducated realtors and project managers who kept changing. We finally got our money refunded, but we lost our locked-in loan rate of 2.75%. If you have to move before closing, it's at your expense. Stay away from this builder and find someone else.

We bought a new house from the previous owner on May 13. After a few days of rain, we had a lot of water in our backyard. This problem has affected five other homeowners next to us. When I talked to the big boss, ***, he told me that he ain't responsible for me since he didn't sell me the house. He also said that his contract only covers standing water that's ten feet or closer to the foundation. He said that nobody can sue him because he's got an arbitration clause in the contract. I found out that his contract can be transferred to a new owner. He won't do anything for me and is stalling my neighbors. He keeps blaming the sub-contractor who did the sodding.
