We were approved by Angies list on 4/227 to do web advertising on their site. We were promised that an Onboarding Specialist would show us how to use the site and answer any questions we had. We never got the onboarding, were never instructed on how to use the site. They were never able to make an "appointment" with us to walk us through the program. We never got emails returned either, even those where I said we were unsatisfied and wanted to cancel service. We paid for this for 4 months. After getting no response I stopped the automatic payment through the bank. Surprise, we finally got emails and a phone call after that. They were not concerned about the lack of customer service, did not ask what they could do to make it right, did not even offer to do the promised on boarding. Nope, they just threatened us with collections. Angi's wants payment for a years worth of service, when they couldn't even provide us with the tools we needed to use their product for the first 4 months.

I hired Faz Concrete Service to perform a garage floor installation. The agreement was for me to pay 1/2 at the start of the job, and the other 1/2 upon completion. They did damage to the top of my garage while using a back hoe to remove existing concrete floor. The damage was to the garage door, and the outside trim structure.

I have never received any invoice or any document stating what work was performed and or what was warrantied and what wasn't. I have called them numerous time, but only get lies and more lies as to where the invoice. I was told that they had forgotten about me and one would be sent to me immediately.

To this day I have not received the invoice even after several phone calls. attempts.

I hired to have a commercial window replaced on 6/30/21. The app specifically stated that I would not be charged until after the service was performed. At 6:44 am on the day of the repair, they texted me links stating that my "Pro" was on the way for an 8:30 am appointment, but the map showed only my location and nothing from the Pro. I waited for three hours after the scheduled appointment time and the entire service appointment disappeared from the app. No one ever showed up and the repair was not completed. Today, 7/2/21, a $686.25 charge appears on my card from Angie's List. My window is still broken and I had to schedule a local window company, after the holiday, to come repair the glass.

I do not appreciate the fraudulent charge showing up on Friday evening before a holiday weekend or having to wait an extra week for the repair.

Angi charged a membership fee and stated that credit card will not be charged for anything else until after the services are rendered. Then, using the Angi app, I attempt to find out the cost of a service. But upon filling out blanks, I get Handy.com, that has my credit card I find out later. Handy, Angi's affiliate, charges me for something that they schedule at the cost of $430.03. I cancel credit card as per bank. Called them, they said June 7, 21 Mr. Mekyl arrived at 2 PM and waited 1/2 hour. I was home & no one came to the door at that time. They wanted new credit card to refund 75% of charge, but I asked for a check. Said can't send check, need another account number to deposit. I want my money refunded.

On June 11, 2021 my wife and I reached a verbal agreement with a contractor, on Angie's list. We verbally agreed on a $2000.00 repair of a weather damaged deck. The contractor's original estimate was $3150.00, but he reduced the price $1150.00 to stay within our price range.

His 06/18/2021 invoice stated:
Lumber and materials $1000.00
Scrap and treat deck & rollers $230.00
Demolition and waste removal $480.00
Deck repair costs @ $15.00 per sq. ft. $1440.00
Discount -$1150.00

Starting times were always set, but consistently delayed.
Example: Starting time, one day, was set at 7:30AM. After the starting time had passed, we reached out several times through out the day, via text and phone calls. On several occasions he did not arrive until late afternoon.
After shopping for materials, he notified us and requested an additional $200.00.
Work proceeded very slowly, never at the times agreed upon. When daily work ended, work areas were never cleaned. Power tools were left scattered, paint cans were left open, and building material was scattered everywhere. On several occasions, we had to bring the power tools inside, due to rain. Once, I had to clean up the work area and yard to be able to mow the lawn. Small scrap wood, paper and screws were left scattered around the work area. Because of the material and scraps I was only able to mow 2/3 of my backyard.
Construction and craftmanship of rebuilt areas is substandard. Joints are not even, some were not even screwed down properly. Surfaces are not level and square. Steps were smaller than normal width, not covering the entire gate area. The steps are not level and they are small. The gate is poorly installed and designed. Due to poor installation, the gate fell off after one use. Exterior paint sealer poorly applied and many areas remain uncoated. It is questionable if two coats were applied to the entire deck surface.

Contracted with Steadfast build start Oct 2018. Oct. 23, 2018 Steadfast Failed County inspection. They stopped build completely after inspection failure by County.did not resume work until County inspectors came out with them in Aug. 2019 to correct failures and complete build with remedies. I called this abandonment as They even withdrew the permit in Nov.2018. They left the electric meter can unsafe, the siding torn off to expose my building all winter, the dry vent was a slipping hazard and FIRE HAZARD etc.
They had my $19k fully paid as billed prior to inspection. Lattice work and few details was supposedly left to finish to my knowlege before they failed inspection.
Here is the list of violations made by Inspector Hagerty Nov. 2018:
"Meter is in violation of the utility company (Dominion Energy) locations allowed. This is a violation of Dominion not Fairfax County. They have direct authority of the meter can location. The County has authority from the meter can connection on the line side in to the panelboard.
R303.5.2 Exhaust openings; This code states exhaust air is not to be directed onto walkways. Since the dryer exhaust is directed onto the landing area of the garage door it would be in violation of this section.
M1502.3 Duct termination; The duct has a screen or fins that block the exhaust exit point. It also discharges within 3 feet of an opening into the building. I don't see a backdraft damper either. This would be multiple violations of this code section.
R507.3.1 Installation of wood/plastic composites; There are several screws missing on the decking used to form the stair treads. This would be a violation of the manufacturer's installation instructions.
R507.7.1 Deck beam to deck post; There are washers missing where the post and beam connections are made. There should be washers on both sides of the carriage bolts to prevent rotation inside the drilled holes.
R703.1 Exterior covering "general"; The siding is not complete and will need to be repaired/replaced where the ledger will lowered or the meter can moved.
R301.5 Minimum uniformly distributed live loads; The guardrail attachment brackets are not secured to the post properly and must have the nuts tightened to the bracket in line with manufacturer installation instructions.
The permit must be amended to show the lattice included in the description because the deck is over 4' tall in some locations. This is a zoning infraction and isn't something I can write up criminally but is never the less and infraction of the zoning ordinance. This shouldn't be a big issue as the deck should meet minimum setbacks to allow for the lattice to be installed."
Also lighting on steps to be installed per code in contract.

In addition to the violations, I had to put out $3.5k for the move of electric circuit box inside my house. This was unplanned and never mentioned prior to the build or in contract.

All along I tried to address reasonably with Steadfast these issues. FIX them. They were unprofessional in conduct and delivery of contract. They still are.
Steadfast's solution to the problem they neither identified themselvesinitally or to me, in Oct 2018 was amputation of a large area off build. I would not accept that. That amputation would have disconnected them from the problem lthat they had not identified only to be caught at inspection and le but built around but left me with a silly looking deck that had lost 1/4 space. That remedy and willingness to resolve issues that they overlooked and then built around shows who Steadfast is. But their idea of fixing what was obviously their responsibility did not fall to reason and I feel you should know who these people are before choosing.

June 2021: there are still issues that I have requested be resolved, emailed and no response from Kenneth Krogmann.
These issues are about damage of threshold of french door, about caulk at corner failure and at step area, and finish nails across fascia board at front of deck that are showing and look like chicken feet...as they filled with crayon that melt/evaporates.

Understand that I have a warranty and these are problems showing up that I asked remedied within a yr.

It cost me extra money, time, aggravation and I did not get a product that I consider first rate for a premium price.

I paid for a lifetime warranty for UV bulb replacement ($725). I have connected with Ait Duct Busters LLC to obtain the replacement bulb on 3-26-21, 4-6-21, 2 times on 4-9-21, & 4-23-21. It is now 5-2-21 & I have not yet received it.
My request is now either a refund of this money, or the UV bulb replacement, and continued promise for future bulbs.

I selected, Country Girl Cleaning, prior to my move. I told her the house was clean but needed dusting and blinds cleaned, check self cleaning oven, etc. She asked for 275 via PayPal prior to cleaning. We arrived a few hours after she text to say she cleaned. Dusty blinds, bugs on window sill, dirty oven. Dusty cabinets, etc. She stole $275.00.

We entered into a contract with San Antonio outdoor Living and Robert Thompson in early February. The scope of work included a new pergola, outdoor kitchen new sod, and irrigation, moving and extending an existing fence > Robert told us this would take him two weeks once he started.

After a week's delay, Robert's crew started work on the property. After two weeks they completed the pergola, sod, and fence. We paid him the 3rd draw and he vanished. The site was left unsafe and many projects were started but not finished. Debris was left all over the property, and they destroyed our driveway with the trucks. Based on the contract and the incomplete jobs he owes us $7500.00 he will not return phone calls and if you can get him he will tell you want to hear then never show up. Now his phone mailbox if full. He stole 7500.00 from us and left a mess for us to clean up. The damages are in the thousands. Very shady business and a big scam.

I contacted angie's list and received names of two contractors who seemed vetted and I contacted them and made arrangements for a personal visit and estimate. One was professional, the other pushy and I did not feel comfortable with them. I then had two other groups of people show up in my yard uninvited and more than one call from foreign speaking people asking about my project to remove fallen tree branches. How did this happen? How is it even plausible that angie's list has access to unvetted and possibly dangerous people who have my address and can just show up at my door? I am very upset. This is not acceptable!

I would expect you to have safeguards in your system to prevent hijackers. It is very disturbing that my address is now available to the public. I may as well have called craigslist! Which I would never do! And now your service has given me great pause. I am very disappointed and pray for all those who may be vulnerable and now exposed to the shady side of laborers, many of whom may not even be legal in this country.

I hired this company to put on a new roof & to build me an Arizona room out of my back patio. I stupidly paid them up front and they put on the roof while I was at work and after a long time with me calling and calling, they finally came to do the room. Well they were hired on March 25, 2020. As of yet the room is not finished. They also put in very small windows while again I am at work and when I saw this, I had a fit. I told them, if they didn't know what a Az. room looked like to look it up. Needless to say, They changed the windows, but they are not what it should look like. They also left the room with no baseboards and no caulking and not finishing anything. I am very disgusted and I am suing them. They took my $20, 000. $10, 000 for the roof and $10, 000. for the room and didn't complete the work. They tell my son they are on the way and we wait & wait and they never show. I know they don't intend to come back and finish anything. They are CROOKS, and must be stopped. You site has them on, but honestly they will only steal from other people the way they stole from me. When I started setting up my account with Angie's list (not even finish my online accounts) they got me providing my business bank account, and they said my monthly will be $400 Dollars but I didn't commit for it because it's too much.
Meanwhile I dint know that they already started of withdrawing the money from my account...no leads no fallow-up from them about the on-going business. They said I'm not picking up my phone but they not even left a message with regards to the leads, or at least gave me a warning that my business with them is already started since six months ago.
Anyhow, I just found out from my bank that my business account is already overdrawn because of them.
When I spoke to them they said...when I sighed up I already agreed to everything which is I'm not aware of just because No leads or work that' I'm getting or coming from them within 6 six months.

I investigated Angie's List for a repair business I was planning operating on a business license, not a contractors license, limiting me to $500 per job .
I was not sure Angie's list had non contractors, I informed them I was in the process of getting a business license. I was told everything was fine they had a handyman section, I could always modify my ad as required, they got my card # to start the "account"/ ad, I was told a lady was to follow up and complete my setup, they had a $300 a month setup that I was doubtful would be worth in my case as I was planning on performing $29 AC or Heater tune ups, I would need 10 jobs a month to pay that with me making zero actually costing me about $50 in gas alone, plus my work is seasonal, 5 months a year nobody calls for heat or AC service, I was not convinced it was worth doing for me.
I was stricken with a kidney stone that turned out to be 2nd stage renal cell carcinoma, kidney cancer, needless to say I put off any idea of working for awhile, I never completed the setup, they had an incorrect phone number listed for my ad they posted with HVAC Contractors, not handymen!
The ad they posted was a sorry excuse to bill me for nothing provided. I emailed them informing them of my status and next thing you know I am billed another $300 despite my having kidney cancer and never completing the setup. Angie's list was obtuse and simply plodded ahead billing me, ignoring me, posting an ad that was pathetic in comparison to the rest, it had no graphic art or pictures, no reviews and it had a NA across the face of the page! And the phone # they posted was not mine!
Somehow they had my phone # to leave voice mails ignoring my status, they took out my last $700 and next thing you know they keep trying to take money out disregarding my status, they actually tried with lower amounts until they tricked my credit union into covering $260 which put my account about - $250. I had to file a complaint and cancel my card to stop the robbing of my funds, I never got a single job nor was I ever legally able to perform any work yet, I was allegedly vetted? how that could happen is beyond me, they obviously disregarded their alleged vetting so they could bill my account as if everything was fine and I was valid and legal. I got the bank to repay me the $260 however the $6oo + they nabbed from me I have to sue them for in small claims which I am doing.
Angie's list came up with a hidden cancellation fee of 35% of 1 years worth of ads! What kind of a business charges you to cancel if it is not paying off for you financially? They expect everyone to gamble with owing35% of $3, 600 a t a minimum to try out Angie's list to see if it works for you? No they never mention this or nobody would ever sign up.
If you look online they have been doing this same theme repeatedly which evidences a scam, a barely legal way to steal in my opinion.
Walk the line, but keep it legal, barely.
I notice websites using a subscription to bill on a continuous basis unless you cancel it and since you do not know it exists this makes cancelling it impossible, stealing from a dying man is pretty low.

So here's the deal with Angieslist.com once they have your info they freely submit it to their "approved" providers even if you don't select them. What happens next is a nightmare. The random contractor then contacts you by phone. Repeatedly. I mean like a different sales person each day from a different phone number. You can't even block their calls. In my case it was Trugreen. I never even considered them but they were on the list. (They also have horrible reviews.) So I guess my advice is use google not Angieslist.com then do your own research. It will save you the frustration of dealing with aggressive sales people on a daily basis. Once your phone number is out there you can't pull it back. I have literally begged Trugreen to stop calling me.

I never permitted them to renew my membership, however, they did it for some reason. I also never permitted to charge my money. Unfortunately, I noticed it in 3 months and was afraid that someone stole my id. After several actions, I found out who was it. And no, it wasn't a hacker. It was you! Can't reach them to request a refund, don't know what I am to do...

We are a well known and trusted Roofing-Siding-Windows contractor here in Boston for the past 30 years whom Angies List repeatedly tries to recruit for membership.

Angies List has a bad customer review listed stating we are a "scam artist".

Upon a new recruitment call from Angies List they informed us we had only 1 bad review on their site. I informed them I do not know this client.

I explained to the recruiter we have competition in this area with names very similiar to ours and you must call this reviewer back for clarification and remove us from this bad review, then we can talk further about joining Angies List.

I was told the review cannot be changed once entered (rather Angies List could not be bothered to correct the review)

I ask you all...Isn't the purpose of Angies List to introduce good contractors to homeowners through proper vetting?

This is the basis of Angies List existance.

Or...is it just to make money with complete disregard to hard working and honest contractors.

A USA Today article states Angies List stocks have fallen 50% in 12 consective months and most analysts have a bear stance on this company.

I really needed to find a doctor and decided to try Angie's List. It was an emergency and I did not even had time to check the reviews. So I signed up and paid some money for their service. When I wanted to check the doctors list I found out that I have to pay more! What? So what for I paid before? This site is a total scam, you basically have to pay for every click! Ok, since I really needed a doctor I paid again and then I found out that there are no reviews! There was just a list of doctors, their addresses and phones, but no information like how professional they were, are they trustworthy or not. Useless website!

I was given a card from an acquaintance who referred me to Peninsula Cleaning and Moving. When I looked at the card, it said it was owned and operated by Jesse Acevedo, a convicted pedophile/child molester/sex offender. Not only is a moving/cleaning business owned and operated by an individual such as this, it gives a false address to the S&S Auto Sales/Car Coral Auto Sales. It is frightening knowing that child molesters have found a loop hole in the Justice System which allows convicted pedophiles to break their parole terms and work within 100 yards of public parks and schools and not only breach the security of the public's safety, but to be in a position where they can enter into your house or business around your family and children after having been convicted multiple times for sex offenses! The angieslist website shows who it is owned and operated by and the link below shows you the person who will be coming inside your house.
