683 days to complete solar project
683 days
That is the time from when we signed the contract to when we received our PTO (Plan to Operate) notice from SCE. Needless to say our experience was horrific. Below is the timeline
Timeline:
[protected] - Signed contract - $63,393
[protected] - site survey completed
[protected] - ASA put in request for permits
[protected] - permits received - 172 days after the process was started
5-9-2022 - System finally generating solar electricity
[protected] - 2 failed inspections
3-1-2023 - submitted for Nem 2.0
4-6-2023 - I personally went to the LA county permit office to get a straight story. The last time
an inspection was made was [protected] days ago
4-7-2023 - Went in person to ASA to speak with Bobby Harris as he is the person who signed our contract. Waited over an hour and was finally seen by Jennifer Farias, the customer service manager. Bobby was notified MULTIPLE times I was waiting to see him and he couldn’t even give me 5 minutes of his time. I spent more than an hour with Jennifer trying to get a status update on my project and still Bobby was not available for 5 minutes despite Jennifer messaging him.
[protected] - final inspection completed according to Jennifer Farias at ASA
403 days between generating solar electricity and actually passing final inspection
[protected] - rebate contract was resent to ASA as they “lost it” despite it being part of the docu-sign process when we signed our initial contract in Sept 2021
[protected] - told due to “due to reorganization, staffing issues, and changes to our systems and processes” they EXPECT to pay by 9-30 which is 56 days past due as PTO was completed 8-2
8-2-2023 receive PTO from Edison - $10K rebate due per contract
[protected] first statement from Kitsap Credit Union for solar project loan.
[protected] - requested lien releases
In April 2023, Bobby Harris contractor license was in violation 7159.D11B - under business and professions code - "no approximate completion date". BUYER BEWARE!
Recommendation: run far far away from American Solar Advantage
Company came and said they are a solar company that would have my solar job completed and I would be off the grid in 60 to 90 days
Company came and said they are a solar company that would have my solar job completed and I would be off the grid in 60 to 90 days. It has been over six months with multiple companies coming out to do the contracted work. Poor communication from the original solar company, failure to complete the project when they say they're going to, rude and unprofessional conduct from the main company and their contractors, and gross negligence and delay of services.

I got a 1.99% Goodleap loan
Even with this amazing loan it has taken more than 11 months from contract signing to complete the job to working condition.
I lost 6 months of prime sun during the summer worth $1200 of missed energy waiting for them to fix the nonfunctioning system.
I got no response from ASA to emails for 4 months trying to get them back out to fix my incomplete system.
They seldom if ever reply to your email. Even the ceo will dog you.
ASA used cardboard as roof support to plug the hole from the old pole for incoming wires from PG&E.
It took 6 months to complete the install and it still did not work
Still need the App to monitor the Solar Edge system.
Recommendation: Go to a reputable company.
It is a crapshoot
ASA set 2 install dates they missed. Then they said my permit was denied due to my shed not being permitted. I went to Permit Office and they had a permit for ASA to install on my shed. Permitting said shed did not need a permit and that they looked at shed and it was fine for a solar install.
ASA was difficult to get ahold of but finally agreed to install the system after a bad review but only if I changed the review to positive. It took months but the system got installed and worked. PG&E gave me PTO Permission To Operate in June after a couple of months waiting for the permit to be signed off and sent to PG&E.
I still do not have the app to monitor the system. They said that comes from Solar Edge and that's all I got. The frustration I felt during this whole process was and is horrible. I think this company is short for the world. ASA's CEO must be really proud of all he build and tore down in 7 years.
Recommendation: The really good loan you get from Goodleap is not worth the headaches.
panels installed
panels installed. They keep making excuses and delaying the process. The customer service is terrible, they never answer the phone and take forever to respond to emails. I feel like they took my money and ran. I would not recommend American Solar Advantage, Inc. to anyone. Save yourself the headache and go with a different company.
I don't recommend this company
I don't recommend this company. You might get ripped off when they install and complete the job. If anyone wants to review my proposal and the purchase agreement, I'm okay with that.
