American Family Care Difficult Doctor

I am the supervisor of an Assisted Living facility. Around 8 of my patients go to AFC for primary care services (Their insurance has an AFC doctor listed as their PCP). These patients have been going to AFC for years in regards to their primary care. 2 patients went to AFC (Montlimar) for medication refills on Monday, 11/8/21. As always, we requested at least 6 refills because they come twice a year if possible and that we would also need paper scripts. A new doctor whom they've never seen before informed the patients that he was not their PCP and that they needed to see their PCP for refills that extends 6 months out. The doctor also told them he didn't have paper scripts, they would need to be e-scribed to the pharmacy (for 3 refills only). The patients asked Dr. William Roy to contact me regarding these issues, his office staff did so. After talking to the office staff and reminding them that we've always been able to receive paper scripts for years and the reasoning why we request paper scripts (because when the medication used to be e-scribed or faxed, the doctor would always leave off a medication refill and when we call to inform the staff about it, they state the patient had to come back in to be seen again. With the paper script, my staff is able to verify in the parking lot that all the requested medication refills were refilled. My staff has been able to go back into AFC several times for a missed refill), the office staff stated they understood but that Dr. William Roy is new and he does things differently but they would ask him. After hanging up with the office staff, Dr. Roy called me 5 minutes later. Dr. Roy stated that AFC is not a Primary Care facility and that the patient's PCP was Dr. Mary Cohen and they needed to see her for medication refills. Dr. Roy stated that in the past, the other doctors at AFC refilled their medications as a courtesy. I informed Dr. Roy that Dr. Cohen was the patient's Psychiatrist, not PCP and that the patients have been going there for years for PCP needs. I informed Dr. Roy that the patient's insurance (United Healthcare) has Dr. Ronald Perdue listed as their PCP. Dr. Roy then stated Dr. Perdue is no longer there but fine. Dr. Roy stated he couldn't refill the medications past 3 months because the patients haven't had labs or anything done. I informed Dr. Roy that again, they've been coming there for years so if no labs were drawn (which they were), that would be an in-house concern with the doctors at AFC. Dr. Roy then stated that he doesn't have paper scripts and the refills would be e-scribed. Dr. Roy stated when the patients came back in 3 months, they would need to come back fasting so that they could do their labs. I said great, not a problem and thought everything was squared away. On Tuesday, 11/9/21, my staff brought 3 more patients in for refills (we bring them in small groups instead of all 8 on 1 day so that we are not overloading the doctor and that others can be seen in a timely manner as well). My staff called and stated Dr. Roy was still trying to tell them that he was not their PCP and they needed to see their PCP. Dr. Roy filled 2 of the patient's medications for 3 months and 1 patient's medication for 6 months (even after saying he doesn't do 6 refills at one time so we found that odd). After talking to the pharmacy to confirm they received the refills, it was discovered that 2 of the patients were missing refills. 1 patient who was seen on Monday, 11/8 was missing 2 refills and 1 patient who was seen on Tuesday, 11/9 was missing 1 medication refill. On Wednesday, 11/10, my staff went back to AFC to get those missed medication refills refilled. The office staff told my staff that Dr. Roy wasn't there today but that he just stopped by and informed his staff that he was not their PCP and he was not filling all of the medications. My staff asked the office manager (at Montlimar) to contact me directly. I talked to the office manager and she states Dr. Roy informed her and her staff that he would not refill ALL the medications and that their PCP would need to fill the rest of the missed medications. I found this to be somewhat confusing because the summary printout sheet stated the 2 missed medications in question were refilled which lead us to believe that they accidentally didn't e-scribe it (which is why we prefer paper scripts). I would like assistance in this matter, we haven't had an issue at AFC in while until Dr. William Roy took over and started making his own rules. Thanks.

Desired outcome: To be contacted and hopefully have this issue resolved

American Family Care Not doing there job cirrectly

Hello my name is Patrice R Hollis. I went to American Family Care today at 919 Odum Road Gardendale, Alabama [protected]. To take the COVID 19 TEST. They gave me an appointment at 1:40pm. She was telling me that I can go sit in the car or leave and come back. In so many words she did want me sitting in there., but I think it was two or three people sitting in there. I was offended and she was being prejudice. They ask you to wear ur mask. I feel like you can sit inside. Okay they call me around about 2:00pm they put me in a room. Now am waiting for them to swab me. Time running still one came yet. Time still running 2:45pm finally the Doctor came in the room with a piece of paper in her hand telling me that the TEST CAME NEGATIVE. I just l
Look at her. How no one came and swab my nose or anything. Am the only one there like i said. The other patients came in with me has left. They just over look me not doing there job. Still sitting again now it's after 3:10pm here come the Doctor again. Now is telling me the test is negative.. LEAVING AT 3:24 PM JUST FOR A FREAKING SWAB.Hoping the other patients got the correct COVID TESTING. AND THERE NOT POSITIVE. THINKING THEY BEEN TESTED AND THEY SAYING IT NEGATIVE SO ?
Hoping our compliant matter. HOPING IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT MONEY. WHAT IF IT WAS SOMETHING SERIOUS IT'S SERIOUS ENOUGH. THEY NEED TO DO THERE JOB INSTEAD OF RUNNING THERE MOUTH.

American Family Care Patient Care and negligenc

I went to the AFC urgent care clinic today 25 September at 7:13 PM. I've been in terrible pain and completely miserable. When I spoke with the physician that I saw she acted as if she didn't care at all about my concerns the way I felt or my treatment plan she was in that room with me maybe three minutes at most if that. I even asked her a couple of questions as she walked away and never once did she answer them I was told that they were going to call in my prescriptions and then I can go pick them up at the pharmacy of my choice we agreed on Walgreens. As I was checking out and walking out of the clinic I said do I need anything they said no. When I left it was right before y'all close at 8 PM so I contacted the pharmacy and my prescription was never called in. I now get to sit at home in tremendous pain and miserable all night long because of my doctor not calling in my prescriptions I pay Joel your service fee and I expect to get a service I didn't get that service so basically I gave you money for nothing so I get to sit up all night in pain or I'm gonna have to go somewhere else. Which is what I'm going to do now I have to pay money again to go to another clinic because AFC Beaumont failed me. I demand a refund for the money I paid for this completely botched clinic visit. I found it almost impossible to get any contact information on this company. I found nothing on AFC own website about how to contact them especially in a situation like this because I'm sure this happens often. There's no number for the patient to contact AFC management at all.

Desired outcome: Refund for all payments I made for visit

I don't like the fact that I couldn't go in the back with my daughter who is a minor without having to pay extra to go with her just because I'm not the patient I'm the...

American Family Care I am complaining about how I was treated

I went to AFC for a major headache and when I walked thru the door I noticed that the lady behind the desk did not acknowledge me, but every one else was spoken too. I proceeded to check in and sat down and waited to be seen. For 1 1/2 hrs, I patiently waited for the other guests to be called that arrived before me. Than I noticed 2 guests that had came after me were also called. I Than went up to the lady to ask her why I was not called yet. She was very unprofessional and acted like she either didn't care or wasn't concerned. I know they close at 8 but we were there before 7 and we should not have had to sit there for almost 2 hrs to be called. I could have went to the ER and been seen faster. After I was the only one left in the waiting room, no one came to get me or check on me I decided I had enough and told the lady to cancel my name and I left. I also was with my wife who is of a different race, so I feel there was discrimination shown as well.

Desired outcome: I would like to see disciplinary actions

American Family Care Sign in wait time / receptionist

07/22/2021 I walked in, signed in at 1:15. I was given clip board and told to fill it out and wait until I was called back up.
35 minutes later I was called up and given an iPad thing to sign in.
When I ask about it the receptionist was rude. Maybe this place could hire more people-
The ridiculous wait times wouldn't be so bad-

The lobby was full of people who needed covid test and we were all just sitting here, clearly they are short handed, and better people skills training.
This is not the first time- it's same crap every time I come here.
Last time I walked out after sitting two hours.

Desired outcome: Train and hire employees

I went to AFC urgent care on 4/3/21. I had a DOT physical which I paid 150 dollars in cash. I recieved a bill for 20 dollars for methylprednisolone sodium succinate 120mg. It is an injectable drug. I did not get any shots or drugs. Billing department will not return my calls. I sent the bill explaining my situation. They just sent me another bill for 20 dollars.

"Dr" Craig Phillips did not examine me after I explained symptoms. He indicated it was just a cold after Covid-19 test was negative. He offered a steroid shot and left the room. I requested he come back in and look in my ears that were so painful. He said they would he just fine and after a microsecond of looking, stated they were perfect. He also stated...

I've had such a rude encounter with the receptionist, Tanya. I did not have ID and I asked if It was ok if I could do it without it. She dismissed me and told me to find a seat. I wait for almost 20 minutes, and then I ask if I should just go back home and get my ID. She says "oh I forgot" and snickers about it. No apology, no "I'm so sorry for wasting your...

I made an appointment that a came a day early for. I BEGGED them to see my sick son who I had Ubered to my appointment with. They made us wait outside for two hours until a new appointment slot. American Family Care The entire clinic

1-13-21 came to get a prescription refilled. This is the 3rd time in 4 days I've been here. There were about 10 people waiting outside in the cold at 7:45 am, a time they told ya to be here. One receptionist, Antoinette did not let us into the clinic u til 8:05. Once inside they didn't have all their iPads ready to go. Once we got them they did t have the user name and password unlocked for us. These are the rudest people I've ever met. The waiting time every time you come in here and lack of leadership, work ethic and compassion for patient makes this place a dump. I will never be back, but since there is such a medical crisis you probably don't care since some people don't have any other option. This is a prime example of what is wrong with healthcare in this country. I also didn't have a copay and had to have a copy of a copt of a credit/debit card on file...I just needed prescription refills. It's 8:4 am and not one of the 10 patients here have been waited in. Disgrace

American Family Care Former employee

I worked for AFC for about 4 years. First 3 were ok. Than management changed. I never been cross trained. Other people have. Low pay other people got paid more with way less experience. Than i put in my notice. I had over 100 hours of PTO left. You get it paid out after u worked ur 14 day notice. I was 1 day short because of illness. Did not get a dime. I told the upper management that i was a loyal employee for 4 years never called out never been late always cane in on days off if needed. She said thats wonderful! And the way they handle covid. Its no social distancing covid test patients are with regular patients in the waiting area.
