American Family Care Dr Evaluation

My daughter went to the AFC in Hanceville, AL today 8/23/22, and saw Dr Robinson. He came in and acted like he was annoyed that he had to see her. She told him that she has had diarrhea since last Thursday, her nose was stopped up, her throat was sore, her ears were clogged and she had blood in her stool. She told him that her family has a history of colon cancer and crohns disease. All he asked her was could she be pregnant? When was the last time she ate? Then he only listened to her stomach. He gave her medicine for nausea and diarrhea. He did not take blood, he did not look in her ears, nose or throat. He did not do anything for her. She was charged $200 for the visit and we still do not know what is wrong with her.

Desired outcome: I believe that we should be refunded for the visit because now I am having to take her to another Dr to find out what is going on with her because he did not do a complete exam.

American Family Care Services

Claim: 2007250

My wife, Zaida Lopez, and I, Marco Morin, went one day in December (12/20/2021) into your facility, the American Family Care office. We went in there to have a screening of Covid 19. Upon arriving, we were asked for our personal information, which we gave. After that, we asked if the service was free of charge, and were told it was free of charge. Now it so happens that, more than half a year later, you sent us a bill for $57.53.

How is that so, if it is free, why do we have to pay? Please explain.

American Family Care inadequate medical care

08/0722 11:00 am

my son was seen for a 4 day nagging localized headache. He is very active and thinks he may have pulled a muscle in his shoulder or neck. The doctor asked 1 question: "how long have you had a headache". Feels one side of the next and with zero explanation says, "I'll schedule and MRI". What? he is 18 years old and she asked no h&p question and no physical exam and deducted he needed an MRI. Extremely poor medical care.

Desired outcome: an alternate plan of care before resorting to MRI. or no charge to insurance company.

American Family Care Refund

Paula prince came in Fe.7,2022 with an ear infection. I paid the$40.00 copay. When I received my EOB from my insurance they had paid the copay. I have contacted AFC3 times and read told I am entitled a refund. I also contacted my insurance and they contacted AFC 3 times and was also promised an immediate refund. It is obvious this is not an honest and reputable company. I want my$40.00 that is due me.

Desired outcome: Immediate $40.00 refund

American Family Care Dr visit on July 1, 2022

I took my 15 year old son to the AFC in Mt Juliet, Tennessee, Friday afternoon July 1, 2022 about 4:00 PM.

He had been vomiting, coughing and had no appetite.

This started 2 weeks ago. I did a home COVID test at that time that was negative. He felt a little better for a week then starting to feel bad and to experience the same symptoms again.

After having a COVID test performed, the Dr came into our room, told us his test was negative and really just stared at us. When he said nothing I asked what should I do? What should I give him... He rattled off Benedryl, Tylenol, ibuprofen. I said OK. He said he thought it was just a cold. As he started to leave the room I asked, are you not going to check his ears, listen to his lungs, look at his throat. He said no... He didn't tell me any of those things hurt. I was dumbfounded!

I have never had such poor care.

I will never go back.

American Family Care Unnecessary tests

I visited the Trussville, AL location 5-30-22 because I was having a problem due to spasms of my esophagus with food lodged. I was tested for Covid and for Strep. — I was not complaining of any symptoms that would warrant being tested for either of those issues and I was not asked if I was.

The person at the front desk took my information and I did not indicate that I was having any problems otherwise. The physician's answer to my question about it was "We just saw you were having trouble swallowing." I requested a muscle relaxer to solve the problem and was given an injection that took care of it.

Now, I have received charges for both tests that amount to $193.00 which I feel I should not have to pay because neither test should have been performed. The results were both negative which I expected them to be!

I have recently relocated to Alabama from Florida and my new medicare supplement just became effective on June 1, 2022. The date of my visit was one day prior, and I have received the bill for the total visit charge.

Desired outcome: Please give proper consideration to this situation and deduct the amount that should not have been charged to me in the first place!

American Family Care Dot physical

I received a charge of $150.00 from the American Family Care clinic. It is true that I was there and they took my data. But later they told me that they couldn't do it because according to them I was sick and I had to talk to my primary care doctor first and I went back home and then I went to the clinic in Trussvile. They attended me there and I paid $150.00 with a debit card and it was on 02-25-2022 and I have the proof

so I'm not going to pay this bill because they didn't attend me this is the account number of E482446

On March 28 2022 went to afc Cherokee Ave in cullman al congestion in chest sore/scratchy throat. Had a female doctor she checked me out and gave me a steroid shot doxycycline and cough medicine. This is definitely not my first time to have bronchitis or upper respiratory infection so I asked for rocephin to go along with the steroid shot she wouldn't give...

American Family Care Billing and service

I was seen in the West Orange, NJ office on December 20, 2021. I was billed $50 on December 22. 2021 when my copay is $10. I left a review and received a call, but I'm still experiencing unprofessional service. I called two days ago and still have yet to receive a call from the billing department. I just hung up with afc urgent care West Orange's answering service. The agent did not know if afc was an acronym for American Family Care, thus this complaint to you today.

Desired outcome: Call me at 973.332.1199

The issues continue. There is no urgency with handling patients or billing issues. Another unprofessional member of the staff called me with zero information on how to rectify this overcharge on my debit card. She tells me billing should contact me on Monday as they are probably gone. If she doesn't work in the billing department, there was no purpose for her to call me. Her phone call was an absolute waste of my time.
Please refund my $50. I tried to allow your business to correct your error, but it is evidwb3 your staff in inept in customer service.

American Family Care billing

I am a regular client of AFC. I love the staff at the location in Sarasota, FL. HOWEVER, I am being billed $145.05. A portion of this is because my payments are not being credited to my account. I made payments on 6/28 and another one on 9/28, neither were applied.
PLUS on a visit on 10/26/21, I am being charged $75 for a COVID test I did not receive nor asked for. On the SAME day, during the SAME visit, I was charged for a second COVID test, which Medicare paid, but I did not request that one either. I was never administered any COVID tests. I have contacted the billing number twice and asked the local clinic to call the billing company but have had NO response whatsoever. Please remove the $75 charge for the COVID test, refund Medicare the $100 paid you, and send me a bill that reflects my payments. I will then happily pay for any remainder. Time is of the essence. Thank you!
Mary Budd

Desired outcome: correction of bill, refund Medicare

American Family Care HIPAA violation

My 21-year-old daughter went in because she had have a severe cold with coughing, congestion, bodyaches, low-grade fever. She got there at 8 and they told her to come back at 11. She went back at 11 and called me crying at 11:45 stating that she tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time. They gave her prescriptions and she was driving to drop them off then come home. I proceeded to warn friends and family and try to brace ourselves, as we had just had it a few months prior with hospitalizations. I called the office to ask for a Rx for antibodies. The nurse put me on hold and then came back to the phone and stated that they gave the wrong information to her and she had not left yet. I called my daughter back, she said they called her to come back to the office and did not state why. When she got there, she waited a while before she was seen. The provider came in and told her they gave her the wrong paperwork and told her she was negative for Covid-19. My daughter then asked her if she had the flu - and the provider wasn't aware of any additional testing and had to leave and come back. She did not once make eye contact with my daughter. At neither time she was in the room did they check her breathing, listen to her lungs, or do any physical exam on her. She said here's a prescription and left the room. Did not apologize or anything. She did not tell my daughter anything about why she was being handed a prescription, or what she had. When my daughter was leaving she asked the nurse/MA what she was diagnosed with and her reply was, "look on the paper". Extremely rude the entire time. Not only was HIPAA severely broken, but family and friends were at a standstill and a very stressful situation to say the least. I do not feel like she should be charged for this visit at all. I am a nurse myself, and I know an office can make mistakes, but this was beyond repair.

Desired outcome: Not to owe them any monies. They are a terrible place to go. We have had issues there before, but it was the only place open.

American Family Care Difficult Doctor

I am the supervisor of an Assisted Living facility. Around 8 of my patients go to AFC for primary care services (Their insurance has an AFC doctor listed as their PCP). These patients have been going to AFC for years in regards to their primary care. 2 patients went to AFC (Montlimar) for medication refills on Monday, 11/8/21. As always, we requested at least 6 refills because they come twice a year if possible and that we would also need paper scripts. A new doctor whom they've never seen before informed the patients that he was not their PCP and that they needed to see their PCP for refills that extends 6 months out. The doctor also told them he didn't have paper scripts, they would need to be e-scribed to the pharmacy (for 3 refills only). The patients asked Dr. William Roy to contact me regarding these issues, his office staff did so. After talking to the office staff and reminding them that we've always been able to receive paper scripts for years and the reasoning why we request paper scripts (because when the medication used to be e-scribed or faxed, the doctor would always leave off a medication refill and when we call to inform the staff about it, they state the patient had to come back in to be seen again. With the paper script, my staff is able to verify in the parking lot that all the requested medication refills were refilled. My staff has been able to go back into AFC several times for a missed refill), the office staff stated they understood but that Dr. William Roy is new and he does things differently but they would ask him. After hanging up with the office staff, Dr. Roy called me 5 minutes later. Dr. Roy stated that AFC is not a Primary Care facility and that the patient's PCP was Dr. Mary Cohen and they needed to see her for medication refills. Dr. Roy stated that in the past, the other doctors at AFC refilled their medications as a courtesy. I informed Dr. Roy that Dr. Cohen was the patient's Psychiatrist, not PCP and that the patients have been going there for years for PCP needs. I informed Dr. Roy that the patient's insurance (United Healthcare) has Dr. Ronald Perdue listed as their PCP. Dr. Roy then stated Dr. Perdue is no longer there but fine. Dr. Roy stated he couldn't refill the medications past 3 months because the patients haven't had labs or anything done. I informed Dr. Roy that again, they've been coming there for years so if no labs were drawn (which they were), that would be an in-house concern with the doctors at AFC. Dr. Roy then stated that he doesn't have paper scripts and the refills would be e-scribed. Dr. Roy stated when the patients came back in 3 months, they would need to come back fasting so that they could do their labs. I said great, not a problem and thought everything was squared away. On Tuesday, 11/9/21, my staff brought 3 more patients in for refills (we bring them in small groups instead of all 8 on 1 day so that we are not overloading the doctor and that others can be seen in a timely manner as well). My staff called and stated Dr. Roy was still trying to tell them that he was not their PCP and they needed to see their PCP. Dr. Roy filled 2 of the patient's medications for 3 months and 1 patient's medication for 6 months (even after saying he doesn't do 6 refills at one time so we found that odd). After talking to the pharmacy to confirm they received the refills, it was discovered that 2 of the patients were missing refills. 1 patient who was seen on Monday, 11/8 was missing 2 refills and 1 patient who was seen on Tuesday, 11/9 was missing 1 medication refill. On Wednesday, 11/10, my staff went back to AFC to get those missed medication refills refilled. The office staff told my staff that Dr. Roy wasn't there today but that he just stopped by and informed his staff that he was not their PCP and he was not filling all of the medications. My staff asked the office manager (at Montlimar) to contact me directly. I talked to the office manager and she states Dr. Roy informed her and her staff that he would not refill ALL the medications and that their PCP would need to fill the rest of the missed medications. I found this to be somewhat confusing because the summary printout sheet stated the 2 missed medications in question were refilled which lead us to believe that they accidentally didn't e-scribe it (which is why we prefer paper scripts). I would like assistance in this matter, we haven't had an issue at AFC in while until Dr. William Roy took over and started making his own rules. Thanks.

Desired outcome: To be contacted and hopefully have this issue resolved

American Family Care Not doing there job cirrectly

Hello my name is Patrice R Hollis. I went to American Family Care today at 919 Odum Road Gardendale, Alabama [protected]. To take the COVID 19 TEST. They gave me an appointment at 1:40pm. She was telling me that I can go sit in the car or leave and come back. In so many words she did want me sitting in there., but I think it was two or three people sitting in there. I was offended and she was being prejudice. They ask you to wear ur mask. I feel like you can sit inside. Okay they call me around about 2:00pm they put me in a room. Now am waiting for them to swab me. Time running still one came yet. Time still running 2:45pm finally the Doctor came in the room with a piece of paper in her hand telling me that the TEST CAME NEGATIVE. I just l
Look at her. How no one came and swab my nose or anything. Am the only one there like i said. The other patients came in with me has left. They just over look me not doing there job. American Family Care Patient Care and negligenc

I went to the AFC urgent care clinic today 25 September at 7:13 PM. I've been in terrible pain and completely miserable. When I spoke with the physician that I saw she acted as if she didn't care at all about my concerns the way I felt or my treatment plan she was in that room with me maybe three minutes at most if that. I even asked her a couple of questions as she walked away and never once did she answer them I was told that they were going to call in my prescriptions and then I can go pick them up at the pharmacy of my choice we agreed on Walgreens. As I was checking out and walking out of the clinic I said do I need anything they said no. When I left it was right before y'all close at 8 PM so I contacted the pharmacy and my prescription was never called in. I now get to sit at home in tremendous pain and miserable all night long because of my doctor not calling in my prescriptions I pay Joel your service fee and I expect to get a service I didn't get that service so basically I gave you money for nothing so I get to sit up all night in pain or I'm gonna have to go somewhere else. Which is what I'm going to do now I have to pay money again to go to another clinic because AFC Beaumont failed me. I demand a refund for the money I paid for this completely botched clinic visit. I found it almost impossible to get any contact information on this company. I found nothing on AFC own website about how to contact them especially in a situation like this because I'm sure this happens often. There's no number for the patient to contact AFC management at all.

Desired outcome: Refund for all payments I made for visit

I'm filing a complaint against the American family care in Saraland Alabama. My 15yr old daughter hurt her left arm . So I took her on a Sunday afternoon on 9/12/2001 to get it looked at .
