On November 22, 2025, my AFFIRM account was hacked.
The result of this criminal conduct was the fraudulent opening of a credit card tied to my account and the immediate charging of more than $1,400 against the fraudulent card. The criminal activity was brought to AFFIRM's attention on November 26, 2025.
As a result, AFFIRM suspended the account and told me to "destroy" the card that was sent to me. On December 5, 2025, I followed up with AFFIRM and was told the fraudulent activity had been "escalated" through AFFIRM's system and would be concluded within 30 days.
Further, when I asked to close the account for security reasons, I was told I had to wait until 30 days past the date I paid off all loans.
After waiting 31 days, I contacted AFFIRM today (January 5, 2026) to close the account. I spent 5 hours (yes, 5 hours) on the phone having endured 14 different transfers. Each person spoke with a thick Eastern Indian accent with ultimately no resolution. Each call was recorded and contains damaging admissions from AFFIRM's employees siting the company's "incompetence" (their word, not mine). AFFIRM has simply refused to close my account in direct violation of my consumer rights as specified by the CFPB. I intend to forward all relevant material evidence onto the CFPB, the FBI and my states' consumer advocacy department with the purpose of securing a remedy to AFFRIMS unapologetic (and likely illegal) lack of attention to this matter.
TO BE CLEAR: I OWE AFFRIM NOTHING! MY BALANCE IS ZERO $0.00
Recommendation: DO NOT UTILIZE "AFFIRM" FOR ANYTHING, IF YOU DO, YOU WILL REGRET IT.
