I had an appointment today at the Lakewood location.

I have been a patient of Dr, Mohr 3 or more years.

I have had many x-rays done and was referred by him to Dr. He (Pain Mgmt. physician) who performed two epidurals recently.

I was perturbed that they had me as a new patient, and I had to complete many forms as if I had never set foot there before. My appointment was at 1:30, I arrived at 1:00 and at 2:00 I inquired if Dr. Mohr was running late and was informed after I inquired after sitting there for almost an hour that he was, and it will be another 30-minute wait.

This is totally unacceptable and no way to treat any patient.

I was already perturbed that they could not find any medical records on me as if I was a new patient.

I left and do not plan to see this physician again. This was terrible treatment of any patient.

Due to an accident I was referred to several specialists…all were normal EXCEPT the one mentioned above…Advanced Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Cypress, Tx 77429 located on the edge of Houston, TX. Not only did I not see the surgeon I had an appointment with but was kept waiting 90 minutes until I asked what was going on…no one bothered to tell me he was in surgery & possibly not coming in…as I was going to leave (after already paying my insurance co-pay) I saw another Doctor on staff who talked with me for less than 5 minutes. That would have been OK until I got my insurance explanation of benefits that said the group/company had billed my insurance company…United Health Care…an additional $1, 038.00 for my visit. I called, & they said this was their standard fee. This is outrageous! NEVER did any other specialist bill more that $200 +/- for a routine visit with no tests involved! Something needs to be done about this group of doctors gauging the public & not telling the patient ahead of time what the status is through his or her insurance company! The doctor I ended up seeing was Jacel C. Brooks, MD who was not even a surgeon. No wonder my insurance premiums are so high! I am ALSO going to report them to the BBB in Houston, TX & anyone else I can think of…my husband is an attorney…so cost is not a factor!

PS Does the AMA ever do anything about a complaint? They said they were sorry but what good does that do “after the fact”? I would appreciate a reply of some sort.
