Aaron Greenspan, the founder of Think Computer, creator of the FaceCash mobile payment system and (according to him) co-founder of Facebook, has been giving Mark Zuckerberg headaches for many years now, and the software entrepreneur is not resting easy.
According to documents filed on 6 May, Think Computer has initiated a lawsuit against a slew of Internet companies and some of Silicon Valley’s most prominent investors and entrepreneurs.
More specifically, Greenspan is targeting ‘money services businesses’, many of which are fledgling digital payment and cash-transfer companies, and a number of professional investment firms and business angels that have financially backed said startups.

The list of defendants includes Facebook, Airbnb, Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz, Dwolla, Square, Coinbase, Sequoia Capital, A-Grade (the fund co-founded by actor-investor Ashton Kutcher), Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, DST Global and Sequoia Capital, among others.
Also included in the lawsuit are PayPal and Slide co-founder Max Levchin, Airbnb co-founder Brian Chesky, Russian billionaire investor and businessman Yuri Milner, and Reddit CEO Yishan Wong.
We’ve been able to get a hold of the complaint, which is a whopping 146 pages long. We’ve embedded the whole thing below, but here’s the gist (emphasis ours):
1. Plaintiff brings this action under California Business & Professions Code § 17200 primarily due to myriad violations of the California Money Transmission Act (“MTA”) and the Bank Secrecy Act (“BSA”) and various other statutes and stemming from unlawful, unfair, fraudulent and deceptive business activities based thereupon.
2. Broadly speaking, Defendants are Money Services Businesses (“MSBs”), also known as “money transmitters,” and private investors in such MSBs. In California, MSBs are subject to federal laws and regulations governing MSB activity, as well as the California MTA and money transmission laws (“MTLs”) of other states.
3. The California MTA was enacted in 2010 and made effective on January 1, 2011, as then-Article 3 commencing at then-Section 1810, Chapter 14, Division 1 of the California Financial Code. The MTA is now Division 1.2, Sections [protected] of the present California Financial Code. The MTA is presently enforced, at least in theory, by the California Department of Financial Institutions (“DFI”).
4. The MTA requires MSBs to obtain a money transmission license from the DFI in order to conduct any operations related to money transmissions. Plaintiff operated a successful MSB under the FaceCash trademark prior to July 1, 2011, when the MTA went into effect and began to regulate domestic money transmissions in California. Plaintiff attempted to comply with the MTA by meeting with DFI personnel as required to begin the license application process prior to the deadline, but encountered insurmountable difficulties with the DFI’s unwritten and arbitrary policies that led to a federal lawsuit against the DFI pending in this Court, Case No. 5:11-cv-05496-HRL.
5. Given the increasingly public difficulty associated with proper compliance with the MTA, Defendants decided to simply break the law while growing their businesses “under the radar,” knowing that the likelihood of being caught was low, and in many cases fully aware that their activities would violate both state and federal law.
Their investors either supported them in this regard, or were willfully negligent of the implications of funding unlicensed money transmitters.

If you want to learn more about the specifics of the suit in question, you should start at page 11 (‘factual background’). The rest is mainly statutory texts and pieces of evidence of wrongdoing by the defendants, at least presented as such by Greenspan. Either way, it offers a fascinating read on many levels, and we’re pretty sure a lot of people who work in the Bay Area will be reading the documents closely today.
We’ve reached out to Greenspan earlier today, but he declined to comment any further, stating that the complaint speaks for itself.
Greenspan has in the past also sued the likes of Google, the State of California, Sony Pictures, author Ben Mezrich, Random House, Robert Venchiarutti (a deputy commissioner at the Department of Financial Institutions’ Money Transmitters division), and others.
In a March 2012 essay, Greenspan wrote the following:
“Does that make me litigious? Yes, it certainly does.”
He has previously written about why he’s ‘furious with Silicon Valley’.
It’s fair to say we would have gotten that particular message even if he hadn’t been so outspoken about it on his website.

I met aaron when I was about 18 on a Facebook. Greenspan said he invented Facebook. You know when you're younger and you spend all your time on the internet. We all used to chat in a group on the chat box on the website. I live in Chicago and he lives in ohio shaker height. He was pretty normal to begin with of course.sharing nude pictures and each of us talking about our day to day life. Anyway we got older as you do and all went about our lives and lost touch...except him. About three years after I had last spoken to everyone I got a message on my facebook from a name I didn't know.
It read something along the lines of 'if you don't contact me immediately I will be forced to take matters into my own hands and sue you. At this point I was freaked out and messaged back asking who this person was? He replied that it was aaron greenspan of Facebook and plainsite. I used to speak with and he had needed to speak to me urgently. I messaged back like...oh hi, what's up? He then informed me that the government were trying to arrest him for hacking computer and he thought it was because of me.
At first I thought he was just messing around but the more he sent the messages the more weirded out I got. He now ran his own forum website plainsite.org. After a few months I got the hump with him babbling on about stuff so said I was very busy with life now and that I didn't really have any time to chat.
Two years pass.
He messages me again from a different facebook account saying that I should go check out his plainsite website. I do so, he has stolen my profile pictures from facebook and is releasing them in a block by block sort of way.along with posts about this is the boy who is getting my computer hacked etc so I am forced to out him on here. Obviously I am freaked the hell out so message him back asking what the hell is going on and what is his problem? He replies with a load of babble about how I am causing hackers to ruin his life on his computer because I refuse to send him photos of myself now or give him my phone number. Again after a few months of arguing about him being crazy I freak and block him.
Another three years go by, I am now 26 and I receive another message. This time he is sending me memes in the context of why did it have to end like this? Why do people pretend they don't have feelings for each other? Now I have the hump. I ignore him. He then adds me on gmail...then the emails start. About how beautiful I am and how I can't leave him hanging another year, why can't he have my phone number etc (note at this point I have a family of my own). I get really angry with him and ask him to leave me alone.
I go back onto his website and there he is again...he is talking about me and how I am the worst person he has ever met (he has never met me).someone else has commented saying I really think you need to leave this guy alone etc...I stop replying. I then get another email telling me how much of a jerk I am coming on his website and leaving comments to make him look bad in front of his friends and he knows its me posting saying to leave me alone.
Then we come to this year. A few weeks ago I get another message on fb from a new account. He is saying he is worried about me being rapped as I am pretty and that he can save me from it if I give him my number. I know its him so I tell him he needs to go away now or I will call the police. I get a message back saying I have to stop playing games with him. I need to block him if I want him to go away (I had blocked him 17 times already). I tell him if he messages me again I will call the police that day. He finally leaves me alone.
I go back on his website today and he has closed it. With a massive long note about how I am the sole reason he has closed his facecash site and he does not want to deal with people anymore because of me. That I am a nasty piece of work and I have ruined his faith in people.along with a video about why men go to bathhouse to met other men.

Plainsite left a number of messages for me regarding a private court records on Plainsite. When I called them back, they said it owe to my plainsite. Aaron provided very little information about this and waa very extremely anxious to get my credit card number on the phone, which made me suspicious so he would remove my data. I said I would check with my lawyer. My lawyer said that absolutely not to pay him. Since the one time I had called aaron back, he since called me 3-4 times per day, everyday, leaving messages. I finally called Aaron and told them if they didn't remove my data from their database they would be sued for harassment ans extortion. Aaron got really angry .Then very quickly started to yell. Think Computer corporation should be shut down for illegal activity.
I met Aaron from a friend of a friend, who was quite a bit older than me, but we seemed to get along okay, and so we started hanging out. It became obvious fairly soon that he wanted to date me, despite the fact he was quite a few years older than me and not as openly gay as me. Aaron said he had more of a connection with younger boys in their late teens. I wasn’t so sure about the situation or him, so I continued to sort of wait and see and still hung out with him.
We went to the movies once. Then, one night he invited me over to his parents’ house to watch harry potter movie. His parents were quite wealthy, and their house was huge. The oddest part was, as soon as I walked into the house, his parents were sitting in the den, and they introduced themselves to me. Then, they immediately left. They didn’t ask anything about me, didn’t say anything to me. We met, and they left. I also met his autistic brother.
What were a few other odd things about him? He seemed to get headaches a lot and obsessed about mark Zuckerberg. In addition, I remember him saying that he didn’t like his bald spots.

I had thought to myself at the time that that would never happen because, if a person was smart, he wouldn’t reveal that he crazy. It turned out that that scenario literally played itself out in my life - something I never could have expected. The second thing that’s odd about it is, how would this endear me to him or his side? It makes no sense. Why reveal this at all?
Eventually, I just decided to write this guy off.
He stalked a friend of mine to find out about my past relationships. Aaron would leave flowers for me.
He continued to send me text messages. Finally, one evening I was out with my friends and didn’t get home until very late, and I checked my phone to discover about 244 messages from him. The last one said he was going to kill himself if I didn’t respond, and it would be my fault.
It sent a sort of shock through my brain because all of a sudden, this was taking a much more severe turn.
I went to bed because it was four in the morning. I was awoken the next day by my roomate telling me there was a dweeb at the door for me. It was aaron.
I got up and - stupidly - allowed him to come into my house. I shouldn’t have done that. I very blatantly told him that what he was doing was incredibly inappropriate and that I was considering going to the police. He responded, and when he did, it was as though I had never told him what I had just told him. Like my words had gone right over his head, or I didn’t speak them at all. I remember him telling me, “You know, we would make a great lovers. I feel so much better around you. You could save me from myself, and I could save you from. I was disgusted by what he was suggesting that we be together because I help him feel better.
I told him, You’re not hearing me. I don’t want a relationship with you. I told you that. But instead of listening, you’re calling my friends to find out about me, sending me flowers, texting me you’re going to kill yourself if I don’t respond to you, and then show up at my house. I have to go to the police, now. I have no choice.”
He was quiet for a moment, looked around, and then ultimately left crying and angry.
I probably should have gone to the police right then, but the experience mentally exhausted me and, believe it or not, despite just waking up, I had to go back to bed. When I woke up, I called the non-emergency police line. They asked if I wanted to meet with a police officer at the station, and I said yes.
At the station, I showed the police officer all of the texts the aaron had sent me with no responses from me. I pointed out the one where he threatened suicide.
The officer said I had two choices - to either file for a restraining order or ask for him to undergo a psychological evaluation. I chose the psych eval. From what I’m aware, they immediately went to the guy’s house. The shaker heights police where very aware of Aaron and his con artist family.

Aaron Jacob Greenspan aka Aaron Greenspan is the founder of Think Computer Foundation, which manages Plain Site (plainsite.org). Aaaron's website states that he has registered Plain Site, a purported public access function to court websites, as a 501(c)(3) charity in line with IRS regulations.
The basis for the website came from Aaron's own interest and experience with technology and the law. Aaaron claimed that the purpose of Think Computer Foundation was to help children through technology. Yet, later this became a personal piggy bank for him to fund his numerous lawsuits. In the past, he has claimed he was defamed because he was left out of book and movie deals due to defamation by omission. Each of his lawsuits were dismissed and he was hit with a motion for sanctions at each step.

Far from helping children, which is nothing more than a cover, Think Computer Foundation and Plain Site have morphed into a personal piggy bank for Aaron Greenspan to fund his own speech. I am in the process of filing suit for fraud and conversion in state court and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with either Aaaron Greenspan or any of his alter egos.
But let me back up a bit. What was described to us as a part of Think Computer Foundation and later Plain Site? Think Computer Foundation was purportedly to help needy kids through technology. But needy kids don't really need access to court records do they? No, they dont. So Think Computer Foundation later became synonymous with Plain Site, which is an alternative to the publicly funded PACER court system access to documents. So, instead of helping needy children, Aaron now has a personal site masquerading as a court access website and Aaron, and only Aaron, gets to pick what or which documents are uploaded and available on Plainsite.
We were under the impression that this was a reputable guy, that he was also independently wealthy and, thus, our donations would go to a good cause: public access to a court system. Unfortunately, it is hard to tell, which one, if any, of Aaron's claims are true. Each time his company has a problem, he attempts to act ike a lawyer or change the rules so that they don't apply to him. Worse, the Plain Site website has become nothing more than a trolling adventure for Aaron. Every time there is a new news story that details someone's misfortune, he uploads their docket on to the website and publicly shames them both online and through his tweets. While public dissemination of information is certainly a goal worthy of support -- and that is why I and others have contributed to his foundation in the past. However, using the foundation, plain site and related twitter accounts as a trolling feature to publicly shame and defame individuals is not what his donors signed up for. It is also completely against the rules of a purported IRS 501(c)(3) foundation. Tax free entities are not meant to be used as personal media outlets for trolling purposes.

Aaron Jacob Greenspan aka Aaron Greenspan is the founder of Think Computer Foundation, which manages Plain Site (plainsite.org). Aaaron's website states that he has registered Plain Site, a purported public access function to court websites, as a 501(c)(3) charity in line with IRS regulations.
The basis for the website came from Aaron's own interest and experience with technology and the law. Aaaron claimed that the purpose of Think Computer Foundation was to help children through technology. Yet, later this became a personal piggy bank for him to fund his numerous lawsuits. In the past, he has claimed he was defamed because he was left out of book and movie deals due to defamation by omission. Each of his lawsuits were dismissed and he was hit with a motion for sanctions at each step.

Far from helping children, which is nothing more than a cover, Think Computer Foundation and Plain Site have morphed into a personal piggy bank for Aaron Greenspan to fund his own speech. In sum and substance, Think Computer Foundation, Plain Site, and Aaron Greenspan are alter egos of each other. They do not exist separately. They do not have an independent board. They do not have separate auditors, attorneys etc. Instead, Aaaron uses these companies and foundations to raise fraudulent donations from donors, of which I am one, and to efficiently evade taxes.
Aaron has also active sued the US Court System, on behalf of Think Computer Foundation, attempting to act pro se. However, his suit was struck out because under long standing precedent, a corporation cannot be represented by an unlicensed attorney. Aaron is not a licensed attorney. He is also a college drop out. In sum and substance, he over promises and under delivers and what you are left with is feeling cheated and feeling like you have funded a conspiracy theorist. It is truly unfortunate because here is a guy with so much promise if he could just be honest.

The Fraud and IRS Problem with Plain Site and Think Computer Foundation:
Aaron has collectved donations from his friends and colleagues, myself included in the amount of $100,000, and to date we have not seen a single dime used in the manner described to us when he requested the donation. When I personally asked for my donation back, he pointed that he controls Think Computer Foundation and can personally use the money as he sees fit. I am in the process of filing suit for fraud and conversion in state court and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with either Aaaron Greenspan or any of his alter egos.
But let me back up a bit. What was described to us as a part of Think Computer Foundation and later Plain Site? Think Computer Foundation was purportedly to help needy kids through technology. But needy kids don't really need access to court records do they? No, they dont. So Think Computer Foundation later became synonymous with Plain Site, which is an alternative to the publicly funded PACER court system access to documents. So, instead of helping needy children, Aaron now has a personal site masquerading as a court access website and Aaron, and only Aaron, gets to pick what or which documents are uploaded and available on Plainsite.
We were under the impression that this was a reputable guy, that he was also independently wealthy and, thus, our donations would go to a good cause: public access to a court system. Unfortunately, it is hard to tell, which one, if any, of Aaron's claims are true. Each time his company has a problem, he attempts to act ike a lawyer or change the rules so that they don't apply to him. Worse, the Plain Site website has become nothing more than a trolling adventure for Aaron. Every time there is a new news story that details someone's misfortune, he uploads their docket on to the website and publicly shames them both online and through his tweets. While public dissemination of information is certainly a goal worthy of support -- and that is why I and others have contributed to his foundation in the past. However, using the foundation, plain site and related twitter accounts as a trolling feature to publicly shame and defame individuals is not what his donors signed up for. It is also completely against the rules of a purported IRS 501(c)(3) foundation. Tax free entities are not meant to be used as personal media outlets for trolling purposes.
Aaron has committed a fraud by taking money, services and equipment from his donors to perpetuate a continuing personal website masquerading as a charity.

Aaron was charged in connection with a criminal complaint for False Claims Violations and Fraud in United States v. Yurygrenadyor, Case No. 09-CV-7891, although the charges were dismissed.
None of this information has ever been disclosed to his donors and perhaps his investors. He is a conman with a slick sales pitch. He wants to help people help others, especially the needy, through technology. But its all lies. He is an abrasive, ill-tempered man with poor business judgment and completely lacking in ethics.
When I met Aaron I thought he was out to change the world. He was idenpendently wealthy. He wanted others to help him through his foundation change the world through technology. But he will talk to you until your check clears. The moment it does, all promises are off. What are you are actually funding is Aaron Greenspan and no one else. And his foundation is nothing more than a sham and he is likely to lose his 501(c)(3) certification. I have sent in an email to the IRS through their reporting service. I have filed suit in state court to get return of my money and I am wondering if Aaron has hit other people up for donations to his foundation? Did he disclose how many times he has been sued or sued himself? Did he disclose to you his selection process of what gets included and what does in Plain Site and how he sets up pages to defame people? Is anyone else owed money? Judith Keene Greenspan and Neil Sanford Greenspan are the Board Members of plainsite.org under Think Computer Corp. that was founded by Neil Greenspan in 1998 to have his son Aaron Greenspan make some money with data mining monetized websites. These inidivuals are cyber criminals and they own and run many data mining monetized websites and the Ohio Attorney General and California Attorney General should be informed of their cyber crimes.
