A Distinctive Mobile Mechanic

I brought my car to A Distinctive Mobile Mechanic, Inc. on 06/20. I called and asked for a quote on repairs and for them to pick up my car. I talked to *** who said he didn't have a price yet for 3 days. I told him I needed the price before he started working because I didn't want to pay too much for an old F150. He said it wouldn't cost more than $500.00, including the tow, because he was only doing a tune-up. We went to his home office where my husband helped him with half of the work because he wasn't working on the car. We asked for a full tune-up, but he didn't replace the filters, etc. He called 2 hours before my flight and said it would be $950.00, which we never agreed to. I had to rent a car and spend more money because of their shady business practices, costing me $786.00.

I met a mechanic who said he could fix my car's windshield and transmission. I gave him $2,400 cash to start the work, and he promised completion in 2 weeks. Three months later, only the windshield is fixed. He passed my transmission to another mechanic, who deemed it irreparable. My torque converter is missing, and I'm told I'm liable. A different mechanic warned me of a scam and advised filing a fraud charge. Despite contacting the police a month ago, the mechanic neither returns my car nor my deposit and has made threats against my employment.
