They are only a link to landlords and nothing else. They don’t guarantee against cancellations by landlords – and that happened to me!
I reserved a room in Budapest for September back in February, when there were plenty of options available. I paid the first month’s rent to the landlord and other costs to Uniplaces. Then, in June, the landlord canceled the reservation. I did get all my money back, but by that time it was very difficult to find a room for September, because all the good ones were already rented.
When I wrote an email to Uniplaces to express my dissatisfaction, they simply distanced themselves and said they cannot guarantee that a landlord won’t cancel at any time.
