This company is terrible. They took over 1 year to respond to a claim. It's super hard to talk to a real person on the phone, and they handle their claims through some other company. They can't even answer simple questions. I can't even imagine needing them in a real emergency.

Horrible Company. We bought a policy and when we got it via email the dates were all wrong. They actually started before we even bought the policy. Trying to contact someone to fix the dates or cancel the policy has been a total waste. We've sent loads of emails and spent ages on hold. Now we gotta get a policy from another company and try to get our money back from this laughable company.

I bought insurance for a trip that got cancelled by the trip provider. I quickly contacted World Nomads to cancel and get a refund for the insurance policy that is now useless. World Nomads takes 2-3 weeks to reply to my follow-up emails, saying they're sorry and here to help. I ask again and wait another 2-3 weeks. Money is tight now, I didn't choose to cancel the trip, and World Nomads is keeping my money and not responding. It's a terrible experience.

We was booked to travel last year 2020 March to Morocco and was suggested by the tour company that we to have travel insurance. So literally two days before, we signed up for it. Of course our bad luck covid happened and all travel all over the world stopped. When we requested World nomads for credit or refund. Guess what they responded. They dont cover that condition which is Covid and they cant refund our credit or money. This does not make sense at all. Im very upset and disappointed. Ill never go with this company again. *** L

Because of the pandemic, we had to cancel our trip to Italy. The airline and tour company were really quick and helpful in giving us a refund for the flights and vouchers for the tour deposit. However, I can't get in touch with World Nomads to cancel the policy for a refund or vouchers. I've emailed them 3 times and it's been a whole month since the first email. All I got was an automatic reply saying they're busy but someone will get back to me. But that hasn't happened. It seems like they're avoiding us, the customers. I'll never use them again. Their customer service is non-existent.

This company, World Nomads, is absolutely terrible. I've been waiting for over a month now, trying to get in touch with them through emails and phone calls to cancel my policy. It's not just me, but others in my group who also got insurance from them are facing the same issue. They simply won't respond to any of us. We want a refund because they claim we can cancel anytime before our trip starts. Alternatively, they could at least have the decency to contact us and find a way to postpone the insurance until our trip can actually happen. The travel tour group has suspended all international trips for now. Dealing with this has been extremely stressful and frustrating. I swear, I'll never bother with travel insurance again. I don't even need to file a claim, I just want to cancel my policy that I no longer need!

I got bit by a dog in *** and had to get rabies shots. Good thing, World Nomads told me about a travel clinic in *** (where I flew a couple days later) to get the shots. But, they're being totally unhelpful and sketchy about paying me back for this simple and small expense. I filed a claim right away when I got home, got an email from World Nomads saying they got my claim and would process it, and then... nothing. Now, trying to contact someone who will actually follow through is super frustrating. The policy clearly says they'll reimburse necessary medical expenses, so why can't they reimburse me for less than $100 in a quick and helpful way?

I bought travel insurance 9 months ago afore I was gonna go on a guided tour to *** and ***. I booked this tour afore I knew that *** was gonna invade the ***. When that happened, I switched the tour dates with *** to next May 2023. World Nomads said I lose the $196 I paid for travel insurance (months ago) and I gotta pay for another policy. This ain't fair. There's a 2 country war goin' on and makin' me pay for another policy is terrible. I wanna change my dates and have the money I already paid cover the new dates. They should make an exception 'cause of the ***/ *** conflict! I wanna see what they gotta say.

MASSIVE LOOPHOLE WARNING! There's a big problem with World Nomads, Inc. If you have a condition that's kinda like a previous one you claimed for, but not really related, they won't cover it. Let me explain using their own words: "If you get a new stomach problem that's not connected to the old one, but kinda similar, they won't cover it. Unless it's from an injury or something totally different." This is a real shocker, especially for long-term travelers who might have separate but kinda similar issues, like tummy troubles (which is super common). This company is not cool. They won't tell you what they mean by "similar condition," so you're left in the dark about what you're actually covered for. And guess what? They won't give you a refund once you find out about this sneaky loophole the hard way. It's not even clearly stated in the policy! I've checked multiple times, so it's not just one agent giving wrong info.

I went with this company for a trip to Bali that was planned in late March - their website has several companies listed in support including lonely planet, and there are several "good" reviews written by bloggers which I'm assuming were all paid to provide such reviews. I'm telling you right now that these reviews are fake, and they mean nothing. A travel ban was placed on Indonesia 48 hours before my flight. I was refunded my flight costs directly from the airline within several days. I submitted a claim for my retreat costs to Nomads. This claim was submitted on March 22. Today is April 29. I have not had any correspondence from this company about a claim number, nor any expectation about when I should be receiving more information. In fact, there was no communications at all, other than 2 emails letting me know they were delayed. While I understand there will be delays due to the current situation, it is completely unacceptable that I have not received ANY information on my claim thus far. It has been nearly SIX WEEKS and I have not heard anything. Any time I've tried to call the business number, I'm on hold for 15 minutes, only to be kicked off the line. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

World Nomads is cheap, but terrible as an insurance company. I was on a trip to *** and felt great. When it was time for my covid test to return to the ***, I tested positive. I felt so good, I got a second test. I had to stay in quarantine for 5 days. I told my insurance company, World Nomads, about my quarantine. They didn't even read what I wrote, as you could see from their response. They sent me the wrong forms. They were unresponsive and then responded incorrectly, even though I already paid for my transportation from Arenal to ***, by private van, and my hotel. Thank God I didn't have any symptoms, because if I had to leave the country, I would have died while waiting for the idiot, who didn't read my application properly, to get back to me. It took them 4 days to respond, and they asked for my passport to help me leave the country. I didn't need that and I told them so. I wanted to start the process of getting reimbursed for the van, hotel for 5 days, and meals. Insurance is supposed to protect you in emergencies. This company is useless. You get what you pay for and I will never buy their insurance again. Now that my quarantine is over, I am trashing the company on every website I can find.

I filed a travel insurance claim with World Nomads, Inc. despite their website sayin' I'd hear somethin' in 15 days.

Bought travel insurance in November . Paid over $300 in medical expenses in ***. Called World Nomads and filed claim, with proof, immediately. It is February 2022, I am still waiting for final determination and payment.

In October , we bought a travel policy from World Nomads/*** to cover our trip expenses that wouldn't be reimbursed. We submitted the claim on Jan 9, 2022. Since then, I've made many calls, but it hasn't been successful. They keep asking me for the trip invoice multiple times, and I've already explained that there was no agency involved since I planned the trip myself. For the last 6 weeks, they've been telling me it will be resolved in two weeks.

I bought a plan with World Nomads and they don't really cover what they say they will cover, especially now with COVID. They're using it as an excuse to not cover anything. I want my money back because I don't feel comfortable with them and I don't think they're doing business right by making people pay so much to be protected when they're not protecting. My friends also said their travel insurance from this company doesn't cover anything related to COVID. I just wasted my money.

I bought travel insurance from World Nomads for my daughter on 11/12/22, for a trip starting 11/13/22 and ending on 12/7/22. I paid $101.49 for the plan and she got an email with a link to set up her account. When she tried to set up the account, she got an error message saying her info don't match what was entered before. There ain't no phone number to call for help, and nobody replied to the emails I sent asking for help. I dunno if she got coverage, and I'm mad that I paid money but ain't got access to the plan or any customer service. Seems like a scam to me.

This company gave me wrong info, which caused more trouble for me. I tried to cancel before it started by email, 'cause it didn't meet the country's rules. While waiting for a reply, my stuff got stolen out of the blue. When I talked to a W.N. rep, she said not to cancel and get a report from the local authority for the claim. I was happy to hear I was covered, so I didn't cancel and filed a claim. Two months later, their third party said my claim was denied 'cause it wasn't covered. So mad at world nomad for making me go through so much stress and effort to get a report and file the claim. If I knew I wasn't covered, I would've just canceled. I just want a refund like I asked for.

In August , I decided to go on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to South America. I booked everything through a travel agency and got myself some travel insurance from World Nomads. I paid for both the trip and the insurance upfront, with the plan to travel in June . But then, in March , the pandemic happened and all travel to South America got put on hold indefinitely. My trip got canceled, and the travel agency, which doesn't exist anymore, didn't give me a refund.

So, I decided to make a claim with my travel insurance because I had booked and paid for the trip before the pandemic started, and I thought that would be covered. There's a clause in the insurance policy that talks about unexpected situations, but the subcontractor *** from World Nomads denied my claim, saying that there wasn't any specific mention of pandemics. I tried to reach out to World Nomads/*** for help, but they don't have any customer service available to talk to, and they even refused to accept the certified mail I sent them. I have proof of this refusal, by the way.

I bought trip insurance from World Nomads on May 5. My enrollment ID is WNUSA21513937-1. Unfortunately, I caught Covid during my trip and had to isolate in a foreign country. I tried to use the policy, but when I asked for assistance, they weren't helpful. So, I ended up arranging my own way back home after completing quarantine. Since then, I've been trying to file a claim on N300S. The website has been terrible. You can start with the basics, but then it gets stuck in a loop and you can't move past the main screen. I've sent emails asking for help, but they just keep referring me to an automated number that gives me the same instructions, which leads me back to the never-ending loop where I can't even submit my claim. I've kept all the unhelpful emails that tell me they can't assist me and to call that number. When I first contacted them after my diagnosis, they made many promises but provided no assistance. Now, all I want is to file my claim and get some of my expenses back.

This insurance company says they cover covid stuff, but when I missed my flight cuz of covid-like symptoms, they said no to giving me back my $500. It's even worse 'cause I sent in all the papers they asked for, but they kept sending me a form for a doc to fill out even though I was already outta Peru. I already gave 'em my covid test results, but they said that wasn't good enough. After gettin' the test, I had to stay in my apartment and there's no way I could get a doc to fill out a form in that situation. Even after tellin' 'em that, they still wanted the form filled out, which was basically impossible. I want my money back and I want them to change what they say on their website 'bout coverin' covid stuff. If they can't cover my expenses, then they shouldn't be allowed to lie and say they can cover covid sickness or other stuff 'bout this pandemic. My claim number is #***.

We got travel insurance from TripMate (World Nomads) afore our Ireland trip on June 12, 2022. Despite our precautions, we ended up with Covid. We both took a positive test. We were real sick and decided to extend our trip to isolate (not to pass on to others). On the day of our test, we called several medical places in *** - they told us to isolate and stay away unless it was a real emergency. We called and talked to our GP in the States. We extended our plane, car rental, and hotel by 3 days. After many tries to get a response from this company - only emails. The email said we didn't have a doctor's exam - even though they told us in Ireland to stay away and we talked to our doctors in the U.S. We asked to appeal the process and we weren't sure if they actually appealed. It's now November and we got an email back saying we're denied based on no doctor *** No number to call. Only a case file where we can't really plead or talk to someone about our case. Real shady!

I paid in advance for travel insurance for a trip to a resort that ended up canceling my trip due to a hurricane and their property not being completed. They were not open for business during my travel dates. I emailed World of Nomad on multiple occasions and spoke with a representative. I sent her multiple things to prove this trip was canceled. For some reason, she doesn't understand that a hotel and a resort can be similar, even though they have different names but you sleep at both. I sent her my cancellation proof. She keeps emailing me back, saying I haven't sent proof of my hotel stay in order to get a full refund. However, I did send proof of my resort cancellation. It's been over 2 months now, and I still haven't received my money back. She has been very unhelpful. I deserve a refund because I purchased the insurance for a reason, and the cancellation was not my fault. I have attached the required documents multiple times, but still no refund.

In May 2022, I bought travel insurance from *** Nomad (R) for lost plane tickets and expenses. I had an accident at *** and lost my flight to ***. Sadly, even after many communications, I haven't received coverage from World Nomad. The claim number is *** and I've contacted World Nomad many times in the past 6 months with no response. Their link to check the status doesn't give any results. I emailed the claims department directly at *** and called them at ***, but they say they can't find any claims! Please help me recover my losses. I was travling from *** back to *** on July 15, 2022. The airline denied boarding to me, stating that I had to have an *** (I was transiting from *** to *** then onto the ). I had only a 2 hour layover in *** and I have proof from the Australian Immigration site that a visit was not required. I had to buy all new airline tickets to get home. World Nomads denied my trip interruption claim because "I didn't have the required *** However, I appealed the claim showing proof from the *** that a *** was NOT required. I have asked World Nomads to reevaluate the claim (on 09/01/22) and still have not heard anything from them. I have provided them proof from the Australian Immigration website for the *** 771 for transiting passengers, as well as all other receipts and documents to support my claim. The "contractor" who processes the claim is "***". I'm happy to file this exact complaint for them, too. But prior to filing a claim, I was unaware of ***.I have informed them of the refunds that I was able to get from the original flights (only a portion was refunded) but the cost for my new flights home was significantly higher than my original trip. I am specifically requesting a refund of *** which is the cost of my new flights minus the refunds for my original flight. (I can provide receipts for all of this, too).

I bought world nomads travel insurance for $164.92 on June 19th, 2022 for my European trip from June 20th - Aug. 2nd. They said I'm a U.S. resident. I tried to file 2 claims. One I couldn't file 'cause their system wasn't working and they wouldn't give me the info to do it. The other one I did file, they said it'll be fixed in 30 days. It's still going on today, January 30th (filed October 13th, 2022) and they lied and made everything so hard, it's funny. I still haven't got the service they promised. I want a full refund. On July 9th, I got sick and had to go to the hospital and get lots of meds. When the hospital bill came, I filed a claim on October 13th, 2022. They said they got it in an email. On October 31st, I asked what's up. They said it could take 30 days. On November 15th, I called. They said they'll hurry it up. On November 25th, I asked again. No answer. On November 30th, they just gave me a link to the claim. They wanted a plane ticket (I gave it to them twice before). They said I need to prove I'm from the U.S. I said I already did that when I signed up and it's weird to ask now (December 20th). I sent it again. On Dec. 21, they asked for the same info I just sent. On January 5th, they said the claim is almost done, wait a few days. On January 16th, I asked again 'cause nothing happened. On the 17th, they copied their old response and said check online. And it keeps going...

I have a medical condition keeping me from taking the trip, which is covered by this type of travel insurance. They are not willing to pay.
