Since October 13. 2023, I have sent 27 emails trying to get my small royalty payments resolved. Today was my most recent email - after waiting since August 26. 2024, for the Global Director to respond. Telephone calls are also not returned.
Because I live outside the U.S., payments have been an issue. I cannot cash the checks as they are sent to me in small $2 or $3 amounts. The bank's service charge and exchange rate make it useless to cash the royalty. The problem started already in 2014. The dollar amounts were higher, but the service charges remained.
I tried through Canada, where I have a bank account, to no avail. Now, from Europe, it's even worse. To cash a $14 check, I would need to pay my bank 20€.
I was unable to convince WestBow Press to let the amounts accrue until at least $50. It would not matter to me whether it takes another couple of years.
Because I cannot cash any of the royalty checks, I wonder whether the company keeps them on their books, and profits from authors that are in a same situation as mine. If 50 authors cannot cash even small amounts of $2, it ends up being a nice extra profit for WestBow Press.
To resolve these issues, I had suggested to WestBow Press to use PayPal or a similar company, which facilitates payments for those who do not have a bank account in the U.S. and are international authors.
Apparently, it cannot not be done. Large companies do, in the meantime, have such solutions for non-US customers, especially in our digital age.
I would like for WestBow Press to 1) resolve this issue by finding a way of paying my royalties retroactively and with interest, using a company like PayPal or equivalent. 2) send me the book galleys at no cost to me, so that I can terminate any business transactions with WestBow Press and have control of my book. 3) Explain the royalties clearly to their customers and, no, it is not 50%. 4) I want their marketing department to stop calling me, trying to sell me more of their products.
Separately, I would like WestBow Press, when recruiting new customers, to stop misusing Christian-speak, and their connection with Thomas Nelson/Zondervan. The business is anything but Christian in its advertising and marketing approach. Such is unethical and deceptive.

Desired outcome: 1) Pay my royalties retroactively and with interest, using PayPal or equivalent. 2) Send me the book galleys at no cost to me, terminating any business transactions with WestBow Press and I have control of my book.
