Mr. Nathan Lords knocked on my door on June 13, 2020, and we discussed in detaiI the services and benefits that would come with me switching from Alder Home Security to Vivint Smart Home. I agreed to switch services. Nathan Lords and I discussed the buyout process and I did inform him that my remaining balance with my current company would exceed the $1...

Vivint Alarm system randomly goes off

For the last couple of months, my system has randomly triggered the alarm. I work on a busy med/surg floor and have had to leave work in the middle of my shift. I no longer set the alarm when I leave, as both the police and my employer have lost patience.

Customer service has been nonexistent. The only vivint employees I have seen are those that are the door-to-door sales people wanting me to upgrade. I don't think so.

Just fix the damn system.

Vivint cancellation

They installed the equipment last September 19, 2019. Agent told I have 10 day trial but they deduct me the following day. I called them today September 30, 2019 to have a cancellation but they told me its my 11th day already do I have to pay half of price. I called the agent how come that I need to pay half of it he agreed its 11th day. They installed the equipment without knowing its my day 1/10. I am requesting to have a cancellation of it.

I am a veteran, and Vivint reps came to my home ad sat down at my kitchen. table and went over all the services with me. I decided on a premium packet and was told that with it by paying it up front I would be a month to month customer. So I paid for the equipment and own it out right. Vivint repeatedly would tell me over the phone that I was a month to month customer and that I could cancel at any time I chose because under the premium packet that I had it states that a month to month customer. who has paid the equipment off early has the right to cancel without any penalty. Well after having billing issues and it never be resolved and have made several. calls to cancel may service and have been blocked by those in the loyalty department over and over again. I did agree to stay several times as I continued to try and put up with all the confusion. However, after the mess Vivint did on October 28, 2022 I was completely done. It was way out of line and very deceptive too. I was just on the phone with the loyalty department and had my confirmation again that I was only a month to month customer and Vivint sent that in writing too. and that I had the right to cancel without any penalties. because I purchased a premium packet. So I ok then, Then the loyalty rep on also sent my case to another department because of all the confusion and the threats from other reps trying to force me to accept that I was under some 5 year contract with Vivint but I am not, I paid for my equipment up front and became only a month to mouth customer. Then the Loyal department told me on October the 28, 2022 in an earlier call, that they were going to have the month to month department contact me and they will most likely offer me a lower cost. From the 25.47with taxes and fees included in this price because of all the issues I have endured with the current status as a month to month customer. So I was supposed to get a call that day within an hour. So I waited for that call from the month to month department, but no one ever called me. So I called back and spoke with someone else in the loyalty department using the phone number given directly to me why the same loyalty department. I let the loyalty department k now why I was calling and how I had not got a call from the month to month department at all and it had been a few hours. then the person told me that it takes one or more days before the month to month department would call me- and she does not know why I was told that the month to mount department would call me in an hours. So I let that go and I began telling her about how I lost some of my credits and she did over to give me another 20 or 25 credit for all I was going through, iu do not know if she did or not, I told her that my bill was so be $ 25.47 after I was stopped from going through with my cancellation on that day. Vivint loyalty department offered me this lower cost if I stayed, as a month to. month customer. So I said that I would accept this price and she put it in the notes and said it would be on my next bill, which would have been November 7, 2022. So later when I check to confirm and called the billing department the billing department only acknowledged the note but had not allowed the new price to take affect. so this began my quest to find out why. So billing kept sending me back to the loyalty department and the loyalty department kept sending me back to billing so I was just being shuffled back and forth between these two. So in my next to the last call to the loyalty department, the loyalty department said to address the $25.47 with taxes and fees to the billing department and to ask for a supervisor. So I was either transferred or I called. So I am thinking that I am talking directly to billing and the first thing I asked for was a supervisor, I am put on hold and thinking I am waiting for a supervisor. the person comes back asked me what the amount was that I was offered on October 17, 2022 I tell him the price with the taxes and fees included which was $25.47 and he tells he he was going to input or fix the bill. All that time I thought that I was speaking directly to billing, and I began to wonder why billing never acknowledged this earlier on all my other calls, but since they were fixing in, I just went on. The next thing I know, that, I get an email about some confirmation of contract extention- however I do not even have any contract to have change, and a contract should only be extended when a person is in one, - a month to month person is not a contracted person, I am a month to month customer so I was very upset and even more appalled by the deception that the loyalty department used. I did not agree with any $25.47 excluding taxes, and this was never offered to me On October 17, in the first place, and there the offer I accepted without any contract on October 17, was $22.40 but when you add the taxes it comes out to $ 25.47 the loyalty department person told me that day. I accepted the lower price as a month to month customer not some customer under any contract. This switch and bait practice is illegal and wrong. Im within my rights to cancel as a month to month customer and I have sent 3 emails requesting a complete cancellation as of October 29,2022 - I am done with Vivint for good they lie and lie and lie- but I will not stand for the lies and deceptions- purchased my equipment and I own it - it is mine to do with as I please - so I decided to cancel the service period and I will not change any more to try and remind a loyal customer. I look like a complete full paying to a company that uses deceptive practices over and over again.

Vivint service fees increase by 2 x (bait and switch)

Account number A-[protected], service number :S-6143039 Best buy Vivint program sold me over $1200 worth of equipment on 04/13/2018 with an app access fees of $9.99 which was increased to $19.99 which is a 2X increase and some thing not expected by me as a customer and unfortunately contract says about the Increase after the initial term which protects a legal action but it thus not mean a bait and switch tactic has not applied here. The reasoning is just they discontinued the plan so now my options are either cancel and have and expensive wall decor or shut up and pay the increased price as I am stuck with the equipment which I fully paid for and I cannot even return it or do any thing about it.

Vivint scammers

Vivint.Smart Home(ToddAndie-wife Pederson and Keith Nellson founders) located at 4931 North 300 West Provo, UT [protected] is a shi**y company. Formerly APX Alarm Security Solutions(The Blackstone Group is part of them too) and one wonders why they had to change their name. BestBuy even STOPPED doing business(July 2018) with this shady company. Vivint did NOT CALL the police when my home was being burglarized and the burglars were still in my house(police could have caught them..) Vivint then insisted they did nothing wrong and refused to pay me for my loss(over $50k was taken). Vivint was so f**king dirty they sent me to collection, because I would NOT pay them anymore money(Vivint was in breach of the contract).

***BEWARE***
Todd R. Pedersen is also trying to scam people again with "Vivint Solar, Inc.", "Vivint Purchasing, LLC", "313 Aviation, LLC" and "Plus550, LLC"

IF you call Vivint.Smart Home today 05 March 2019 Tues. their call center will NOT transfer you to anybody important to resolve your concernscomplaints. As of today even BestBuy a fortune 500 company wants NOTHING to do with this crappy company. PLEASE do NOT allow Todd Pederson or Keith Nellson or ANY other businesses these 2 people are tied to RIP YOU off(you work to hard for your money and valuables). Together we can SHUT these 2 people down plus I have filed complaints with the FTC, BBB(4499 complaints filed), etc. I will NEVER stop telling the world about these 2 LOSERS...

Vivint unethical billing/contract practices

I was a Vivint customer for several years. I paid my bill every month, on-time and without issue. A few months ago I called to have my bill adjusted as I was struggling to reduce my expenses. They did change my plan and my bill went from $68 to $49.

A few months have passed and I called this morning to cancel my service. I sold my home (needed to) and no longer need Vivint services. After calling all service vendors all others cancelled my accounts with no issues...except Vivint.

They claim I owe $1018 to "buy out" my contract. They claim, during that call to adjust my bill, they said I agreed to extend the contract term by FOUR YEARS.

Why would I agree to that to save $18 a month?! After speaking with 3 different people at Vivint it became clear to me that this is how they are trained to operate.

This is not right. Be very, very careful if you choose to be a Vivint customer. It is now my experience that they will do anything to try to lock you into buying services. I will also add that they offered me a few different 'buy out' options, which tells me this is a common situation for them if they had those options at the ready.

Vivint all equipment and support

This has turned into a theft by deception case. To start out the technician broke a window during the installation to which there was not any recourse taken by Vivint.
Now we have had a slew of problems with the equipment that still go on.
Today I called to cancel the service only to hear that we are still in some sort of service plan that requires the purchase of their equipment. Twenty two hundred and seventy nine dollars to cancel the service is what was outlined as I sat aghast. They have not sent any contract nor did I sign anything that would outline that sort of investment.

Warning! Do not sign their little blank tablet or agree to anything on the phone until you get a printed contract and are able to read the whole thing first. Do not accept what the salesperson tells you as true!
We have Vivent Solar and have been very happy with them. The solar panels were free to us, all we had to do was pay for monthly use which is lower than PG&E. Because of the things the salesperson told us, we believed the cameras and equipment installed was free with just a monthly charge that would be offset by discounts from PG&E and homeowners insurance. NOT TRUE! We learned after the fact that we had a 5 year contract and owed $3000 for the equipment, paid in 60 monthly installments. I could not get a copy of the contract for many weeks. Turned out they had my email address wrong. After I read the contract I saw how we had been tricked.

Vivint Home security

I was told in order to cancel my service I had to write a letter explaining why and when I wanted it cancelled. I did that a month and a half before my contract was up and surprise surprise they have no record of my letter. Still taking out payments until I can resend the letter and will only refund if I can resend original letter. SOOOOOO ANGRY! DO NOT use vivint home security!

Vivint contract bait and switch

Do not use vivint they are liars and crooks. I lost my job and called vivint to ask when my contract was over because that would be one less bill to pay especially at 60.99 per month. The very nice man offered to lower my bill by 15.00 a month that would make my bill 45.99. He kept going on and on about that this would extend the warrenty 3 or 4 times that when he read a blurb about extending the contract 36 months I didn’t hear that - I heard warranty, and I did agree to the warranty being extended 36 months not the contract. This is a bait and switch tactic. The system is old and not working, the alarm keeps going off for loss of power and lost sensor. I only have 1 camera on because even with the phone help we cannot get this old one on line. They sent me batteries so that I could fix it myself with telephone help, exactly what am I paying 60.99 a month for? I am cancelling my contract. I actually called to renegotiate a lower bill and stay with vivint even with the crappy equipment but not now, not after being hung up on 3 times when being “transferred” and being lied to. So here’s the numbers:
The lowered my bill by 14.99 for 12 months saving me 179.88.
They added 36 months on my expired contract costing me 2195.64
Wow I saved 179.88 just to pay 2195.64? I don’t think so, this is predatory!
Dirty secret, they don’t monitor your system, they pay alarm.com 4.50 a month to do that and they pocket the difference in my case 56.49 a month for old defunk system and equipment that I have to maintain myself.

Their sales model and pitch are improper. You see reviews that cite systems start at $600, but when you call they first run a credit check, lure you with a tech will bring equipment for you to see first no pressure to buy, but then want a deposit for that tech visit and ask in online form for you to agree to a form and submit your SSN even after I indicated if I bought I would buy system outright no financing. The sales flow is geared to get prospects to feel committed and normally they do give you price until the tech is at your house! Really unethical in my opinion. I forced a quote be provided in phone call and it was $2500 just for hardware! Excessive.

You have no idea what you’re talking about! this might be the dumbest security review i’ve seen. I have Vivint on my house and it’s by far the best security system on the entire market. it’s funny that you “claim” they work under alarm.com like you know everything. explain then why everything is all under one vivint app and why they use their OWN equipment. they actually make their product, i’m very sorry that incident happened to you but i can promise that you definitely blew things way out of proportion just because you didn’t get your way. i’ve seen far worse with companies like ADT or brinks

I am considering having them cancel my service and pick up their equipment. The cost of the equipment should be removed from my debt. I am 74 years old and really don't care if they put a collection on my credit. With all of these complaints, I think I can get them removed from my credit. I am tired of paying $66 per month for a lousy system that barely works. JOIN ME!

Vivint they try to sell me another contract!

I had a contact with these guys and was extremely happy when it was finally over. Vivint gave me nothing but headache, their service was terrible, and I often argued with these guys. So my contract was over and I was extremely happy, but they started calling me like almost every day and tried to sell me another contract. I said I was not interested and asked them to stop calling me, but they really did not care. I can't get rid of these guys, they are so annoying! I will not sign anything, I don't want to deal with them, but they simply do not understand. I said a million times I was not interested but they keep calling! Terrible!

They have a Cancellation Policy that is totally unfair and unforgiving. If you have a circumstance where you cannot give a full 30 day notice before you need to cancel (such as sudden death or an unexpected move), you WILL pay them for another month of unneeded service when you shouldn't have to. You will NOT be successful when contacting their Customer...

Vivint run!!! horrible business!

On August 26, 2013, we signed up to receive service from Vivint, Inc. We opted for the upgraded package that included, smoke detectors, automatic door locks, pan and tilt video camera. Sounded like all the bells and whistles. We were told that if we needed to cancel the contract after 30 days, there would be a $150 cancellation fee. Sounded okay. We have had nothing but problems and complaints since. The day they were supposed to install the system, we were told it would take no more than 2 hours. The technician worked well over 10+ hours, but couldn't get it installed. The next day, another technician came out and worked most of the next day. At the end of this day, we were told that the Vivint wiring system was not compatible with our house. We would have to be downgraded in our "package." We were still having issues, as the system was never installed correctly. Apparently, the automatic door lock was not compatible, either. After numerous calls, promising to come and take the door lock system off, to this day, I still have it on my door. We continued to have a "low battery" signal that constantly went off. Again, after numerous calls, my wife was told to go into the attic and they would have her to help diagnose the problem. We had no intention of going in to the attic and touch anything! If we messed up anything, it would then by on us, and we did not want any other issues coming from Vivint. After about 8 months of dealing with the low battery signal and half the system not operable, I had enough. I contacted Vivint to cancel the contract. I was told that they could not cancel the contract over the phone. In order to cancel the contract, we would have to send a letter in writing stating that we wanted to cancel the contract. Again, we were told that there would be a $150 cancelation fee. We said, okay, even though they owed us money! When we were downgraded to the lower package that still did not work right, we were supposed to get a refund for the overpayments that they continued to bill us for. We made so many calls trying to clear this issue up at the time as well. We would tell every person who answered that we were still being billed incorrectly for the service. The overbilled us for months! They chose not to change it and continued to bill us for the first package. So, they actually to this day owe us money. However, we said we would pay the $150 fee to get out of the contract. I sent the letter in writing on October 10, 2014, indicating that we were cancelling the contract. We have paid for a non-working service for the better part of a year. On the October 20, 2014 letter, we notified Vivint that we would be putting a stop payment on the account. We did not receive any bills for a few months/couple of months, do not have an accurate date(s). We thought that we were done with Vivint. Then we start getting bills AGAIN! We started making phone calls again. We asked to speak to someone in higher level management, but was never able to do so. They send you to their Customer Loyalty Department, who cannot do anything to help you nor are they willing to send you to some who can. On our last conversation we told them that we were not going to pay the remainder of the balance. We did offer to pay again the $150 we were told we could pay to cancel the contract. The letter on October the 10th, also stated that we were no intended to pay. We were never contacted. We have now been turned over to a collection agency, asking for $1, 802.12. Now I have to deal with the collection agency and possible credit issues! Vivint breached their contract by not providing a working system on August, 26, 2013. We continued to pay for the nonworking service because we felt they would make it right. Since then, we have found out that Vivint does not maintain local service technicians in our area and never had the ability to timely address any service problems.

Vivint auto full year contract extension

Signed a three year contract with APX Security, later renamed Vivint, four years ago after the house next door was broken into. System was installed the next day and activated by the tech. We found out about needing a county permit after a false alarm that resulted in a fine for operating the system without a permit. New company would not activate the system without the permit number. Confusion as to the type of alarm when the house was actually broken into caused about a ten minute delay in police being notified for which they profusely apologized. Wanted to add fire alarm protection which salesperson said could be done at anytime, but found they wanted a new contract with higher monthly rate and several hundred dollars to install. Looking for something better, decided to change companies at the end of the contract. That's when we discovered a clause in the contract that if we didn't cancel service in writing at least 30 days prior to the end of the contract it automatically renewed for another full year and they would not budge on this issue. We were going to pay for another full year whether or not we used their service. If we didn't it would be reported to credit bureaus and turned over for collection. From what I've read it's not uncommon with these companies to make it difficult to cancel after the end of the initial contract, but standard is 30 days notice, not a full year. I went ahead and changed companies anyway and paid double for a year just to protect my credit. Haven't had any alarms since contracting the new company, so don't really know if the new company is better. Before signing up with any home security company just read the contract carefully and if it doesn't say exactly what the salesperson has promised tear it up and show the person the door. You will be held to the contract terms regardless of what the salesperson promised.

I called Vivint Home Security because my battery on the system died and though plugged into an electrical outlet, there was no life to the system, meaning no monitoring. I spoke to a woman from customer service, which was very rude with me because I told her that I was not going to pay $50.00 for the battery.

Vivint unauthorized contract extension

This alarm company, Vivint, Inc., installed an alarm in both my home and my mother's home. We were told (verbally) at that time that it would be a 24 month contract but when we checked out copy of the paperwork sometime later, the contract had 42 mos printed on it. In researching all the complaints against this company, I found that the term of the contracts seem to be different so it is not inconceivable that they would tell us 24 mos but not detail that agreement on the paperwork that is already pre-printed with the "42 months" on it. They absolutely refuse to cancel either my contract and my mom's, which has put us both in a bind financially since my husband is on disability and neither one of us work; and my mother is on a fixed income, will be 84 yrs. old, and can no longer handle this monthly payment of $78.00. Please tell me, if anyone knows, what can we do? I have contacted Vivint, Inc. by phone and by letter to explain all of this and they have refused to acknowledge the fact of our "verbal" agreement and insist there is NO WAY they can or will cancel either contract.
