So after getting the benefits started for my mother we were asked about the at home care hours and they started the process to get additional help in my home. Now my mother can do a lot on her own so help needed would have been minimal, I received 2 calls from providers both stated they had no one available to help out. This went on for a year and it finally came to needing someone while we traveled out of town for several days. Since we had no one so far she had accumulated a few hundred hours so any additional payment would have been minimal if any. I gave them 6 weeks or more notice about our intended plans before setting the reservations in stone. Two weeks prior I still heard nothing so I called and was insured by the account rep that it was taken care of and I should be contacted that day or the next as to the provider, Waited until the end of the week still nothing, Monday 3 days before we leave I called Vet Home Assist and was again promised that they had a provider I explained that this needed to be set well before this date and I was not at all satisfied as to the service. I called a reliable provider I had used and they had availability so I started the process with them knowing that if Vet Home Care came thru we could cancel, sad thing is this very company works with Vet assist in other areas but decided not in this area due to reliability issues. The day before leaving as of mid morning I still had heard nothing from a Vet Home care provider so that afternoon I inked a contract with my provider. Just before 5:00pm I received a call from a Vet Home care provider who was just contacted that day regarding my need. I kindly explained what transpired and that I had already contracted another company and they had already completed the in home evaluation required by law in this state prior to accepting a client for home health care. With-in an hour the Vet assist care rep was on the phone that conservation was not so kindly and I left it with that they should call me back after our return to discuss going forward. Following our return home a week later still no calls so a registered letter was sent terminating the services and demanding a cease on removing any further payment from the account. Since no service were ever rendered I can't find any positives there were no products supplied as requested except for the Alexa companion device for my mother who is really non-verbal so it was a glorified clock! While I am sure some of the reps do a good job over all this was not the case here. Trying to return the Alexa so to settle the account and still have problems with the new account people who do nothing but lip service it seems email returns states that the others 3 of them are no longer with Vet Assist. Poor and no customer service and communications in this case was the undoing.
Recommendation: You can get benifits on your own, yes its cumbersome and detailed but some vet organizations will assist free of charge.
