I 've been with Vanguard for over 30 years. Around 2019 their service went south big time. They outsourced their phone service to foreign counties to people who probably don't have the equivalent of a GED here in the US. I got wrong information and I had to get into a yelling match with them because they were insistent that they were correct. It was very disturbing. They want you to do everything online. If you don't sign up for an online account (I won't as a three time identity fraud victim- each time frauded out online), they want nothing to do with you unless, of course, you have over $5 million invested with them! Yea, like that's the majority of US investors?! Their attitude sucks. They moved their mail center (which is outsourced to some third world company) to El Paso TX which is in the middle of nowhere and it takes two weeks for mail to get there or get to you from their "postal center". El Paso, besides being at the demographic center for not one single American also has a knack for losing items that are sent there - personal experience of mine!). The last straw was last night when I had to explain four times to a "senior" rep. that their online charts showing returns and dates when funds were opened was incorrect. After explaining it three ways she's still arguing with me as to why the cart is correct. This is a senior US rep? Read the reddit page on Vanguard, it's enough to frighten you to take all your money out now and move it to Fidelity or Schwab. If you don't move it, make sure you can or want to use their website for EVERYTHING because any answers you get from Vanguard reps stand a 90%+ chance of being wrong. The stupidity of these people compared to the professionals I got pre- 2019 is frightening! I'm gong to Fidelity. What's really sad is that the corporate mentality for this "non-profit" company is now just the same as any money hungry w/we don't give a crap for profit company. They've chosen technology and profits over people. John Bogle would be so disappoitnted and ANGRY.
Recommendation: Don't invest with them. Move your money elsewhere. There are plenty of companies that can and will do better and will helpy ou move your money , without incurrimg a taxable event) to them. All the big firms will keep your Vanguard funds and just hold them in their brokerage accounts so there's no taxable event. Do it today before you become so jaded you are ready to scream!
