On October 24,2023 I took my car into my local Les Schwab dealer in Puyallup South Hill, Washington for a check on my brakes that had been replaced by them in April of 2021, work order [protected] that also included replacing 4 struts at a total cost of $1,664.86. The mileage on my car at that time was 137,724 miles. I currently have 143,437 miles on the car. I was told that I needed a complete new braking system because the system had been contaminated with oil in the brake fluid and the cost would be $5000 to repair. I questioned how this could happen and was told that they weren't sure how it could happen. I had not had any repairs on the car since April of 2021, only oil changes. I then took my car to three different mechanics in the area to confirm the Les Schwab diagnosis. All three confirmed that their was not a bit of oil in the brake fluid and there was no contamination in the system. However, I did need new calipers and front pads. I had the repairs done at another location locally at a cost of $451.00. I could have spent an extra $4,500 with Les Schwab had I not questioned the diagnosis. I would like a refund on the calipers and brake labor that I was charged by Les Schwab on April 28, 2021 for a total of $208,74. Needless to say, it shakes my faith in continuing to patronize Les Schwab in the future with that huge error in diagnosis.
Claimed loss: $208.74
Desired outcome: Please refund, I would also like a response.
