On April 16, 2011 at The Home Depot in Southlake, TX a representative offered a 10% discount for the purchase and installation of a replacement window after in-home estimate. During the estimate, the employee rescinded the offered discount, saying additional (unspecified) costs offset any discount. On April 27, another Home Depot employee called to say that we either had to pay an additional $69 to complete the work by purchasing a sash or we would have to complete the work ourselves by climbing onto the roof and painting the outside of the window so it would match the others in the home. Very upset by this misrepresentation of the work, the lack of the promised discount, and the addition of heretofor unspecified add-ons beyond the contract to complete the work in a standard manner, the installation manager identified as "Mike" called and offered to cancel the contract. However, despite numerous calls to a minimum of seven individuals and the check for my $193 deposit having cleared the bank on April 21, I am told to wait a minimum of 14 days plus mailing time to receive a refund.
The offer of the discount never materialized and we were deceived into thinking that the full cost of $767 for the window included full installation to match existing windows in the home, and had no knowledge of needing an upsell sill or having to climb out on the roof to finish the job ourselves. This company misrepresented its offer, was deceptive in communicating additional costs, and has not concluded this transaction in a satisfactory manner to me.
