Dollar Tree - Harassed by manager and refusal to call police when someone assaulted me in the store

Essex street, Maywood, NJ 4:25 to 5:30 pm 12/07/21 summary: Customer put face to my nose starting altercation unmasked spitting in my face, and threatened that she'd hurt me. Asked manager MATT for help and to call cops. Matt's response "I don't give a [censored] about you. my job.. I don't give a [censored] about this store..." my life threatened bc of management

Please view your camera from roughly 4:25 to 5:30 pm Tuesday December 7th. This complaint is elevated to you because I was treated inhumanely, mocked by your manager, and your manager "MATT" should NOT BE RUNNING YOUR STORE OR DISMISSED AND ABLE TO GET UNEMPLOYMENT.

As follows incident report and words and actions of your manager, "Matt" who would not provide his last name :

At 4:30 I was in Matt's line when I was asked rudely by a customer behind me "are you still shopping." I replied no, I'm putting items I'm not buying into a second cart, "while I took an important call from a doctor bc I am immunocompromised and facing severe health issues. She cut me in line and I, being peaceful, said nothing. View your footage. She then leaves the line to go shop for other items and I asked her the same question she asked me," Are you still shopping?"so that I knew my place in a line she already cut.

She aggressively put her nose to my face and started an altercation saying irrational insults, and spitting in my face while doing so. I retorted to step away from me, that I am immunocompromised, and she's threatening my health as she just spit in my face. I put my arm up in front of my face and told her to never get less than a centimeter from someone's face during covid and flu season when you don't know their medical situation.

Regardless, she continued to threaten me saying she'd hurt me if she wasn't inside the store and trying to provoke me to hit her, which I never would. I raised my voice in self defense and to get the attention of your staff and manager, all who did nothing.

I wanted the police called but my phone was dead, and I approached the cashier and asked to speak to the manager and he told me he is the manager. I said please call the cops or do something bc your customer just spit in my face and is threatening me. I said I am wearing a kn95 because I am immune compromised and such behavior can't be allowed during covid or acceptable at any time.

He told me" I don't know what that is.. I'm an idiot ;that's why I work at the dollar store "I said I did not call you an idiot, but it is your job to do something. To this he replied," I don't give a [censored] about my job.. I don't give a [censored] about you. I don't give a [censored] about this store."I asked again,"you don't care about your own store?"No, I don't give a [censored]/[censored]"forgive me for not remembering which explicative he used because he continued this language as I got back in line and he then started to mock me and laugh with the aggressor who threatened me and spit in my face. I went to him to call the cops. He refused, and told me he doesn't"give a [censored]."So I was physically and verbally assaulted in this location, as spitting in someone's face and threatening to hurt them is, indeed, assault, which was actually perpetuated further by your manager matt bc he took the side of the aggressor and mocked me and laughed at me with her, when I did absolutely nothing though she invaded my personal space and threatened my life.

Your manager went on to laugh with the aggressor mocking me, who literally was standing in line and threatened, tried to get help and instead, became the base of your manager's jokes. Your manager admitted to not doing anything when my sister went in two days later to speak to him.

This location is an actual mess, not clean, things strewn about not put back because it is clear your managers and staff do less work than is needed and as your manager stated loud and clear he"doesn't care about this store."I am demanding action because it is traumatizing to a person with immune issues, and now because of management not controlling the situation, in case this woman gave me covid, I can't see my father who has cancer. This is unacceptable, and if nothing is done I do intend to use reviews and all social media platforms to make sure people are forewarned not to walk into a store inhumanely and disgracefully managed by"matt."

Two registers were open and it was the register at the back, not the entrance. There is only so calm one can stay when a stranger gets a centimeter from ones face threatening her. I am disabled, and would not have been able to defend myself and your manager would not call the cops for me because he just repeatedly told me how he doesn't give a [censored] about me, his job, or this store.

I have never in 45 years met a worker so unfit to manage a store or been in a store that welcomes such inhumanity.

If you have any questions or med further testimony, I expect to hear back from the company. This must be escalated direct to corporate because it remains a threat to my life and your manager is a threat to your store.

Desired outcome: Fire management , compensate consumer
