Meijer - Pharmacy

I put in for a prescription refill at the pharmacy on Airport Road in Jackson, Michigan for an essential, but common medication. I was told that there was no refills so I needed to contact my physician. No problem. I called my physician to refill my prescription and they sent it electronically to be filled. Problem happened is that the Meijer pharmacy failed to receive the transmission, blaming it on a computer bug, although other meds that I requested came through. I was told by the pharmacy to contact my physician to try again. I did this and got the same result. I ended up doing this four times total electronically with all of them the same result. The fifth time I had the doctor give me a paper slip instead and I personally handed it to the pharmacist. They complained that the signature was stamped instead of handwritten, but stated they will personally contact my doctor. The next day (by this time I ran out of my medication totally), I was told that they never received a paper copy. This medication is synthroid, which is not a medication that you want to go without if you on it. I have now started receiving my meds elsewhere because at least now I can receive them in a timely manner. The time of this occurrence happened started aprrox. 2-19-24 and I finally received my meds from another pharmacy on 2-27-24

Desired outcome: Better training for pharmacy especially communication with customers and physicians if there is a problem and it sounds like your electronic system needs a severe upgrade

I agree as well. I had antibiotics sent in to Meijer on Keystone by my provider after being laid up in bed for 6 days. Turns out what I thought was viral URI became a bacterial infection possibly walking pneumonia due to being diabetic. Meijer alerted me my antibiotics were ready for pick up. I dragged myself out of the house to get the meds and when I arrived they gave me a PARTIAL fill 4 pills on 11/7, requiring me to return the next day for the remaining 16 pills. After taking the first 4 tabs I was feeling night and day better, but still needed to complete the antibiotics. I needed the next dose by that evening and received the text around 3pm on Saturday 11/8. I went home and at time to take the medicine discovered they put 1 tab in the bottle! They charged me for the entire prescription of 20 tabs. The bottle says qty 16, 1/1 but only put 1 tab in the bottle! So I went to the store to have them rectify this. Since it was 630pm the pharmacy was then closed. They refused to call anyone from pharmacy to transfer the script, they refused to refund my money despite filling 5 tabs of the 20 prescribed they told me there’s nothing to do. When I asked to speak with a higher up manager I had to wait for a long period of time and they came up and immediately said there’s nothing I can do you’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Then some guy comes out of a back area door and asks what is going on. He interrupts and then lies about his position inflating his title which clearly he was not and interjected to agitate then further bullies me like the “higher up” manager and tells me I’m not being cooperative so there’s no reason for him to help me or the rest of them to do so. So let’s review, a healthcare providing pharmacy partially fills an antibiotic script forcing a sick person to go out to get the remaining script the next day to not fill again (2 visits—- 5 pills) and payment in full. They have full payment I have 1/3 of product over two trips while extremely sick and no refund issued, no resolution offered. Basically told to go F@*# off! Nice work Meijer I wonder if the DEA would be interested in the inaccuracies that I’ve read about this am alone on regular medicines makes you wonder what’s happening with their narcotics?!?! Ridiculous another example of corporate slumlordism!

This also happened to me with one of my medications (it was a controlled substance) and they kept acting like it was MY FAULT and getting snippy with me and refusing to fill my prescription! I had to keep calling up to my doctors office and explaining that sending it over electronically isn’t working and it needs to be verbally called in and that is what finally worked after going TWO DAYS without my medication! They are also messing with my meds (same med. Due to be filled tomorrow but they are REFUSING to fill it on the fill date because according to them “since you got it filled a day early for the past 3 months! You should have enough medication!” They think I’m stock piling my meds?! I have the drug and alcohol tests I take monthly that proves to my insurance company that I take everything EXACTLY as prescribed so if they want to blame the insurance, that’s not gonna fly with me! I find it ironic I get a text message at EXACTLY 9:06 am on Friday ALREADY saying I had to wait until the 18th for my med when the refill date is on the 17th! I hadn’t even called to try and fill it early and somebody just decided to come in and first thing this past Friday morning was go into their computer system and send me that nasty unnecessary text and in what world would I have a “weeks worth of medication” the day before a refill day?! I’m sick of the BS and discrimination I get at this pharmacy so I think after this month, I’m gonna switch to a new pharmacy because I’m sick of being treated like a criminal for wanting my prescriptions filled on the fill date!
