Schedule blood draw for 11 labs at Quest Diagnostics 4545 Hypoluxo Rd
Lake Worth, FL 33463, inside Walmart.
I specifically tell the tech Halcy, "I'm a hard stick; if u can't find a vein in my arm u have to hit my hand. U get ONE try. I'm not dehydrated, I drank 64ozs of water since waking up 4 hrs ago.
She makes a big show of feeling my arms for a vein, but I know that she is not sensitive enough to the touch of the vein by the way she does it. (I've been in this body 68 yrs and know what a good lab tech does!) So she ties off my right hand, hits me in the back of the hand w the 21 gauge butterfly. Two vials slowly fill, she puts on a 3rd one and the vein collapses at a 1/10 of that vial.
She tells me,"Ur dry. Go eat something and come back."I'm thinking, I'm never coming back here, u just collapsed the vein in my hand. I left she was able to do 5 of 11 ordered labs.
I've been to enough quest labs to know that Halcy is no different than the average phlebotomist; she is not experienced or careful enough to find a vein in my arm. There r good phlebotomist out there, but they r 1/100 as this is low entry level job w little to no training.
It is shameful in the medical"profession" that a patient cannot count on not being tortured b/c of bad training and bad qualifications. If I allowed the torture, I'd have left there will several attempts at hitting a vein and lot of bruises, but I know better than to let anyone make a pincushion of me.
Desired outcome: WHERE is the best Quest Diagnostics phlebotomist in Palm Beach County
