Alamo Rent A Car - overcharging

Booked a flight with Allegiant Air and through their website I also booked a rental car which happened to be with Alamo Car Rental. Long Story short, I told the guy I did not want the insurance. I had coverage with my personal car insurance carrier, even had the policy number & phone number as a just in case. I also paid with this trip with a Credit Card that gives me extra coverage 'just in case'. The guy told me no problem. After I signed and left I noticed a charge for CDW. Come to find out this is Collision Damage Waiver. Charged me $14.99 a day plus tax. Beware of this scam. I wrote an e-mail to Alamo requesting a refund. How do you think that went...?

I sent an email to Alamo with my complaint. I even forget to mention in the email that I paid with a credit card that gave me the coverage as well. I received an email back from a CSR named Kevin who corrected the problem within 24 hours. A few day later I checked and the funds were credited to my card. While I'm still upset at what I feel was a shady business practice, I'm completely satisfied with the corrected action and timely manner on how Alamo responded to my complaint. I would be willing to give it another go with Alamo. No pun intended.

CDW is not insurance... It is the coverage for any Deductible that you have on your insurance. More and more Rental car companies are charging this if you are using your own insurance... HOWEVER, $14.99 is a little high for this.

It is just another scam by these companies.
