My son applied for a job at the Taco Bell on Fallbrook in West Hills. On Friday, June 9, he filled out an application and presented his resume, which indicated that he needed accommodations for his disabilities. He returned on Sunday, as requested and was offered the job. The manager asked that he come back on Tuesday to get his uniform and they would discuss his schedule. On Tuesday, June 13, my son returned to the store and signed all of the paperwork to work at Taco Bell. He even signed the paper which indicated that Taco Bell does not discriminate based on disabilities. When my son questioned regarding accommodations, to be sure that the manager was aware that he could stand for 45 minutes but required a sitting down period of 15 minutes while he continued to work, the manager took the uniform back and said he would have to talk to his district supervisor. Friday, June 16, my son reached back out to the manager who said that they did not have the personnel to accommodate his disability. Needless to say, my son was denied the opportunity of working for Taco Bell because they discriminated against him and his disabilities. Furthermore, my son wasted additional time looking for another job and we went out and purchased the uniform as he was instructed because Taco Bell represented that my son had received the job.
Desired outcome: I would like an apology to my son and income for the monies that he would have received working at Taco Bell for this summer. The manager represented that he had the job and then his summer job was taken away because he is disabled.
