Dear TruFit,
The purpose of this email is to express extreme disappointment and concern regarding misleading sales practices by staff at the Trufit Trenton gym in Edinburg, TX. These actions led to fraudulent enrollment in a six-month personal training contract under false pretenses.
On August 12, 2025, a visit was made to the Trenton branch with a family member inquiring about a standard gym membership. Employee, Austin, provided information on membership fees. The membership was stated to be $20 per month as a family member, with an annual $55 equipment fee. However, on August 25, just two weeks later, both the monthly $20 fee and an additional $20 late fee were charged, which was contrary to the promotion described by Austin information of my enrollment.
A second issue is the misrepresentation of a Personal Trainer with meals plan introduced by trainer Jordan. Jordan repeatedly insisted on enrolling into this Personal Trainer program after continuously I informed him the plan sound good but unfortunately I was not able to commit. He insisted how this plan would help me achieve my goals and informed me he would give me a two-week free trial. After going back and forth I agreed and sign because of pressure and inaccurate information that trainer assured cancellation would be easy after two weeks. Jordan stated that signing the contract was necessary to activate the "promotion". The signing process was deliberately obscured. Staff members used an electronic signature pad and provided misleading instructions, stating only, “sign here,” and summarizing the documents inaccurately. This process did not allow a thorough review of the terms because we are blindly trusting your employees. Additionally, I was not informed that a copy of these documents were going to be emailed to me.
Due to this misleading conduct, I unknowingly exceeded the three-day cancellation period I now know instead of the two weeks, I was wrongfully informed and am now bound to a costly six-month contract based entirely on fraudulent information. This practice constitutes a serious breach of trust and consumer protection standards.
Since discovering this deception, multiple attempts to resolve this issue have been unsuccessful:
• Jordan, Trainer was contacted to cancel the trial, but calls and texts were not returned.
• After no response from the trainer, the Trenton Trufit branch was called, with call back information was taken, but there was no follow-up.
• Emanuel, a manager at the Cornerstone Trufit branch, referred the issue back to the Trenton branch, and instructed I should speak with new manager, Chris. But Chris has not reached out.
• Chris, the new manager at the Trenton Trufit branch, was met when he was offering this Personal Training plan to my family member. After I explaining the situation to Chris, Chris indicated he was unable to cancel the contract but assured a follow-up phone call to "make things right." This promise was not honored; in fact, Chris followed up with my family member to pursue a new sale but never contacted to resolve the original issue.
Despite this negative experience, my family enrolled in your gym and our family wishes to continue our health and fitness journey through our standard memberships. However, this relies on a satisfactory resolution. I kindly request a full investigation into the misleading sales tactics, along with immediate, penalty-free cancellation of the personal training contract I was wrongfully informed and signed under false pretenses.
A prompt response and a satisfactory resolution are expected.
Sincerely,
Isaac Gallegos
