The Salvation Army USA Rude employee at the Ming Ave, Bakersfield store of Salvation Army.

Rude employee at the Ming Ave, Bakersfield store of Salvation Army.

She's white, thin and wears glasses. She yelled at an older woman at the cash register with, "You keep interrupting me and I'm trying to explain..." The older woman was only asking a question about a coupon discount. The employee sounded condescending, a control freak, with no people skills.

Desired outcome: Fire this employee

The Salvation Army USA Verbal abuse

To whom this may concern,

I hesitated to write this letter because I still am afraid, however, it needs to be brought to someone’s attention, even if nothing is done.

On March 5th at approx. 7:15 pm, I went to the salvation army in Kalispell Montana, after work to drop off three boxes of donations at the front door. I have done this previously on two or three occasions recently, as I have moved and live in a smaller place. Most of the items I donated were items I purchased at the Salvation Army, some with the price still on them.

I am a 62-year-old woman and have lived in Montana since I was sixteen years old. I have for decades shopped and donated to the Salvation Army, my favorite thrift store in the entire valley. However, this opinion has changed as of March 5th When I went to donate in front of the store and was treated like a criminal. Due to the back part of the Salvation Army being dark I did not feel comfortable donating there, so I left the items at the front door.

A man approached me, and I was very scared as I did not know who he was because he never introduced himself, instead he put his flashlight in front of me and stated, “Mam, you cannot put your items here, you need to do it when we are open. Which was fine, so I said alright “I am sorry I did not know. This man said, “Yeah everyone claims they don’t know.”

This person continued saying over and over that I would be arrested and fined if I ever donated when the store is not open. This was uncalled for, and he became more and more verbally aggressive and rude, even though I had already stated that I was sorry and would not do it again. He ordered me to take back the items I donated, which I did without hesitation on my part, I picked up my belongings. However, the verbal abuse proceeded this man telling me I will be arrested for trespassing if I ever do it again, and that I will be fined. He said this to me at least 6 or more times. He also took down my license plate number. I did not protest I simply did as he asked, and it was unnecessary to continue to threaten me. He was rude and aggressively speaking to me. At no time did he explain to me why I could not leave the items to be donated other than to say I had to do it when the store was open. I will NEVER donate another thing to the Salvation Army ever again.

After this incident, I went into the salvation army to see if the items I had recently previously donated were up for sale. And indeed, my donated items are listed in your store, and that is hypocritical. How ironic that you are selling the items that I have donated but are threatening me with jail and a fine for trespassing. You are profiting off me and at the same time threatening me with jail for trespassing. I have over the years spent thousands of dollars to the salvation army, and I won’t ever be doing that again.

I will never donate again to your organization again, for your employee acting extremely unchristian to me. All he had to do was explain your policy and that would have been fine. That is not what he did. He was rude, condescending, aggressive, and threatening. His behavior was unacceptable. He at no time introduced himself to me, which would have been the right thing to do.

Sincerely,

Deborah Bradford.

[protected]@gmail.com

Desired outcome: You won't be able to give me back all that I have donated so I leave this up to you.

The Salvation Army USA Misuse of funds received from free donations

I donate my items to the salvation army for free the woman says she cannot sell the items that I'm donating because she needs to pay for her building. I'm like the items are like two $3 each some items at the salvation. She asked me if I used to shop there yes I did shop there in the past and now I'm here donating to help out people who are less fortunate. The woman is very rude to a person that's giving a free donation and she is not here to help people who are less fortunate she's here to sell items to fix her building and turn the salvation army into a low budget antique shop. The woman stated they sell the donations to pay for the building and their parking lot. I thought the salvation army is nonprofit organization funded by the government. As per the woman's comment they're taking the government money they're also taking the sales from the items that we give to them for free to fund themselves as well so they are making a profit. Jamestown New York Fairmount street salvation army the person accepting donations is very rude. People who donate to the salvation army give you their things that they worked hard and paid for for free so that the salvation army can sell it to people who are less fortunate but it seems here at this location they're there to sell it for their own personal gain. They're not here to help people and they are very rude to the people who are giving donations. I donated a pair of $500 glasses to the salvation army a few years ago I've helped out this company a lot the person who was rude to me at that location does not know who she's talking to. It makes me feel like I don't want to give my donations to this location anymore or at all and that it's fraud and it makes me not trust any situation or company like this. All donations should be accepted and not scrutinized and judged by an individual who was hired to work there. Being that the donations are free and we get nothing out of the deal, they should

just take the free donation and I appreciate that someone took time out of their day just to bring something down there for free so you can sell it don't be rude.

Desired outcome: investigate how they are using their funds how using the donation how they decline donations how these people are not here to help the salvation army Fairmount Street Jamestown New York is possibly fraud.

The Salvation Army USA Box spring n mattress set and rude manager

Bought mattress and box spring as a set. After I paid for it the manager tells me it's not a set and refuses to give me my money back or the box spring. Her name is AJ. She was rude and spoke down on me. Just cuz I shop here doesn't mean I'm simple minded, weak or uneducated. I would like either the box spring that came with the set or my money back.

Desired outcome: Money back

The Salvation Army USA Thrift store

I have been going to the Salvation Army thrift store religiously on my lunch hour almost daily since they opened their new location in Traverse City, Michigan on S. Airport Road. I have spent so much money there and become so close to so many of the employees that there was even a time they had a small "surprise" birthday celebration with a piece of cake and a card signed by everyone there when I walked in the door on my lunch hour. I have made friends with employees outside of work and have considered some to feel as close as family. They know what is going on with me and me them. I have enjoyed going there for many, many years, although I admit I have felt guilt about the large amounts of money I have spent there, ha ha. I would shock probably even you if I looked at my bank statement and just totalled the transactions paid by credit card there in one year, not to mention cash purchases.

Anyway, I have seen employees and managers come and go, I have seen employees find new jobs, and unfortunately even saw one go through a terrible illness and eventually die while working there. It has always been fun and relaxing to go in there and the jabs and jokes, etc. are half of the fun.

Recently, with COVID and requirements for vaccinations, etc., many people have left the Salvation Army thirft store on Salvation Army and recently they hired a new manager. Over the course of the last month or so, I have watched this new manager complete DESTROY this store and take away everything that was good about it. She clearly has forgotten the meaning of the word "thrift" and is trying to turn this into her own little "botique". Don't get me wrong. the cleaning up and organziation has been pretty nice for the most part (other than she commingled all the sizes now so the "plus size" clothing is now just willy nilly thrown in with the other cloting and catagorized as "short sleeve shirts" here, etc. making it very difficult to find. She has taken away the color tag 1/2 off sales, now the.47 Saturday sales and most recently closed the bathroom to publc use. Broke my heart yesterday to hear the little boy crying to his mom from his seat in the cart "mommy, I gotta pee" over and over. But the WORST thing is, the prices have gone BEYOND ridiculous. Items used to be priced based on their condition, etc. but have a general price such as shirts 2.99 but nicer ones would be marked a little higher and if stained or ripped a little lower. Now they are all $5-8. Shoes, no matter what condition $5 and boots $8. There is a cowboy hat in there currently for $55 and a redwings jersey (that you can buy online exactly the same for $69) for $150. There is a salt lamp for $45 (they sell for less than that brand new at the store). I am sickened by what she has done to a store that used to help people out. She really thinks alot of herself and walks around barking orders and telling everyone what a great job she has done revamping this store. It needed "so much work". I mostly go elsewhere now - other thrift stores who havent' lost the idea of "helping others" and the meaning of "thirft" but someone should be made aware of how absolutely awful this store has become. We have a facebook pace here in Northern Michigan called "over heard in Traverse City" where people post concerns about issues and recently someone even posted somethign about this becuase it has become so awful. I have heard many say "I will no longer donate here" and "Im not going to shop here anymore". Sad. It used to be so much fun and so nice and enjoyable.

Desired outcome: Fire the damn manager and get a new one. Bring back the old pricing, discounts and sales

The Salvation Army USA Misbehavior employee

Thank You for reaching out to me on the behalf of my concerns at the Salvation Army Harbor light. Which I do A major concern Cannot remember the approximate time or date but two weeks ago I was working unit 200 Day Shift 7am-3pm. March 2021 And counselor love walk up to my work station And just stood there for a minute. Then he said I said hello. I reply back good morning I Didn’t hear you. Did he reply back yes you did and I reply back no I didn’t , I said why do I need to lie about saying I didn’t hear you. Then counselor love made a smart remark about if you don’t want to work here just quit. And in my opinion I thought that was 1 disrespectful and rule not to mention accuse me of something I didn’t say or do. My immediately thoughts was to go to Ms. Danelle in Human resources to address what has been said. Did I thought I would just let it blow over. Unit another employee inform me that He went to the Supervisor Marion and telling lies on me saying the other employees don’t like me. That is the purpose of this letter. My concerns are How come the Supervisor never address me concerning this matter because the way I see it. That’s taking sides of a one sided story. And the reason I’m address it to you because you have to go to a higher authority get results.

The Salvation Army USA Manager and Assitant Manager

Hello, I am a regular costumer to Salvation Army. I have noticed that the Manager and Assistant Manager are pulling out items for a certain individual in a cart. The individual waits until one of them comes out and the induvial follows behind. As well, giving discounts when the individual has a full cart with new or not as used items. It is frustrating and unprofessional for people who work for the salvation army to do things like that. I thought Salvation Army was a professional company. We all look for the treasure, but instead everything is given to that person. They do this every week and there needs to be a stop.

Desired outcome: I would like the favoritism to stop and be some time of discipline to the Manager Maria and the Assistant Manager Margarita. The problem is on Modesto, CA on Mchenry Avenue.

I totally agree they are very unprofessional I experience something so negative will Salvation Army here in Jackson Mississippi try to handle you any kind of way, talk to you any kind of way, treat you any kind of way. The employees there at the shelter show no respect for the homeless they have no professionalism about themselves they conduct they sell as if they were children. The facilities is supposed to be there to help the people not try to look down and degrade their mindsets is not God like at all. They think because they have power over you they can treat you any kind of way but the devil is a lie watch me rise what they think about me this is only a test I won't remain where I am.

The Salvation Army USA All items sold at salvation army

First let me just say that everything that they received to sale is donated they paid no money for the items! The items are priced about 20 dollars less than what it cost brand new. I had first hand experience at the two older ladies that run the Salvation Army store. They was taking items that was donated and looking them up online to see how much they cost then pricing them 20 dollars cheaper! Like this food sealer machine they received they looked it up it cost 90 dollars new so they priced it 69.99 now for real! You use to be able to go there and purchase stuff at a reasonable price. But customers should just go to the store and buy what you want at full price then it's new!

Desired outcome: For them to be called out and reported and the issue be rectified!!!

The Salvation Army USA Thrift store located on South Airport Road in Traverse City, Michigan

I have been a frequent shopper at the Salvation Army mentioned above for many years. I literally go there just about every day on my lunch hour to shop. I don't even want to mention the ridiculous amount of money I have spent at this thrift shop over the years. Recently a new manager and assistant manager took over the store. It is now a complete joke. It looks like they are trying to make it into a "botique" rather than a thrift store. The prices are out of hand and all of the sales have stopped. No longer do they have a 1/2 off color tag sale nor do they have the Saturday/Monday.47 cent day sale for that colored tag items that didn't sell the week before. I can understand if they wanted to raise the sale to a.99 sa, le even but this is ridiculous. Sweaters are now between $5-8 used. I can buy one new at Walmart for that. I am very saddened and have heard many others that feel the same.

Desired outcome: Get new people to run the store and return the policies to the way they were

The Salvation Army USA The services that are provided, that are extra from the resources of different entities that I have been eliminated from

The person's at the salvation army in Utica New York said that I had threatened them their family and that's not true it took me a few months to figure out what had happened and it was obviously a review that I wrote to Google about its location services bothering me and following me and they took that the man attacked me verbally assaulted me and threw me out of the salvation army here when I tried to figure out what may have happened they just said well what did you do and what did he do and would not help resolve it at all I'm sure that, that is what happened because never did I threaten him and never would I. they had different offerings from other services located here in Utica that I have been eliminated from because of what he did on that day and without asking me or anything the person there did and man assault me!

Desired outcome: I don't need that salvation army but when there are extra services going through there from offices in the community which I am entitled to they refuse to even call me back

The Salvation Army USA Gas money

I called the Salvation Army in Brookings South Dakota. I have been having great financial hardships with losing my job and working for minimum wages.

I asked for help in getting gas money so I could go to work. I had a medical bill come up and a broken foot.

How was I going to get to work? I need to work to pay my bills and I received no help. This person said she already gave me $160 for a new pair of glasses. Yes, I needed them for me to work and drive. Then I asked her for gas money to go on a job interview, she gave it but was not happy about it.

Now I needed money to get to work because I had to pay the medical bill first. She basically told me she has spent enough money on me. She told me to go to a church and ask for the money.

I thought the Salvation Army was there to help people in need, like me! These life
experiences do happen and the girl at the Brookings Salvation Army made
Me feel like a low life because I need gas money.

What are your guidelines? Why are people being turned down from being helped? Your purpose is to assist people that are in need.

Unhappy in Brookings South Dakota
I smell a rotten egg.

Desired outcome: Not be treated unfairly

The Salvation Army USA “Woke” policy

Insulting donors by suggesting that we should reflect upon our "white privilege" is insulting and racist. I will redirect my annual donations to organizations who stick to serving the needy without promoting racism. I will also educate others about this and pray that the Salvation Army will return to the honorable tradition of meeting needs while sharing the Good News of eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Salvation Army USA Kelly France

I was really at one of my weakest points I needed some help so I went to the Salvation army because I thought well these wonderful people will probably be able to help me, I was praying, and I went in there requesting help for my 3 school age children I asked if they had bookbags and or any school supplies I would be appreciative for them if they had anything I also was requesting basic health and essential household products, such as hand soap, dish soap, toilet paper toothbrushes and toothpaste and tampons or napkins for my twin 14 year old girls. I am a single mother on disability it is so hard to make ends meet. And Kelly France one of the employees at the Midland Michigan branch treated me like I was a poor joke, she made me feel terrible like the scum of the earth just for needing help. She raised her voice at me an called me a liar, And I am not a liar I got quite offended and felt like I was somewhere thinking I could get help, but instead I got treated terrible. She was so condescending and rude. I couldn't believe it I cried for 2 days because of that woman. And she told me she was going to call me back that afternoon so she could try to help me and I never heard anything else from her. She is a mean judgemental lady and I did nothing wrong my name is Stacie Stricker and I live in Midland Michigan and my phone number is 600-2542 can someone please contact me back I was not treated fairly at all
