I purchased a SELLIER 28 PORC LISSE Hermès handbag from The RealReal on 16 April 2025 for USD 8,000, advertised as authentic.
An independent, certified Hermès expert confirmed the bag is authentic but found that key parts — including the handles, stitching, leather, and dye — had been replaced with non-official Hermès materials of inferior quality. This significantly reduces the value and contradicts the listing description.
Hermès Paris refused to restore the bag, citing poor workmanship inconsistent with their standards.
Despite providing The RealReal with expert documentation, they refused to issue a refund.
This is not my first negative experience — I previously purchased a Rolex watch from them that was authenticated in France and proven counterfeit. The RealReal also refused to refund that purchase.
Desired outcome: I would appreciate a response
