I recently had a brief visit (less than 10 minutes) with Carol Montgomery, NP, to discuss my symptoms and the possibility of antibiotics. She advised that antibiotics are generally not recommended at this time, and I fully respect and understand her clinical judgment.
However, I called back the next day to ask what steps I should take if my symptoms persist or worsen, and I was informed that I would need to pay an additional $42 for a new visit.
I would appreciate clarification on the following:
Does Teladoc not consider follow-up communication part of an established visit?
Was care established during my recent consultation?
Should guidance have been provided regarding when to call back if symptoms continue beyond a certain number of days?
I am simply trying to understand the process and ensure I follow the appropriate steps if my condition does not improve.
MD Live had clarity, PCPs have guidelines for patient-provider establishment of care, unsure what Teladoc's policy on established care and listening to patient concerns are. It appears they are only interested in new visits to collect their co-pays.
Claimed loss: New visit copays each time? $42 * X ?
Desired outcome: Follow up of inital new visit, establishing boundaries of when to call back and when antibiotics can be given, if needed.
