I am a very long-time customer of TECO and have always been very happy with the company. In the recent past, however, TECO notified customers of a switch in meter-reading methods from physical reading to an electronic system, of which detailed information, especially on accuracy, was not given.

Beginning late last year, upon starting to receive much higher TECO bills than expected, I undertook a program of conscious conservation of energy, cutting way back on my use of every energy-drawing appliance in my home. But only in some months has this been reflected by the amount of energy TECO is reporting I have used.

What I question is the accuracy of the usage figures being reported to me which are driving the dollar amount of my bills.

As a result of my conservation, for the read dates ending the final months of 2022 through January-June 2023, my bill/usage was reported lower than the corresponding month last year as well as, for all but March, increasingly lower month-over-month.

Those were the results I expected and were as it should be.

But then was I ever surprised by the bill for the end of July read date. TECO reported the same usage as last year and higher than any prior month in 2023. I know my usage was less than last year and feel sure it was less than reported.

I increased my efforts to conserve, but the August ending usage report was even higher, and higher than August 2022. Once again, I feel sure my usage was less than stated.

I increased my diligence, and have now received a bill for August 31-September 29 with a usage figure that again makes no sense!

My efforts include cutting off lights and fans as I leave a room, raising the A/C temp, cutting back on use of the oven -- virtually everything that uses electricity in my apartment.

The usage figures reported to me by TECO for the read dates ending September, August and July, simply do not make the usual sense that my bill always has.

I am wondering if, instead of reading my meter, is arriving at their usage figures by some process of estimation.

I would like to know the email of someone in a position of responsibility at TECO who can intelligently answer these questions.

Desired outcome: Please provide an email contact address of a person in a position of responsibility at TECO who is able to intelligently answer my questions.
