It's standard in the film industry (in Toronto, at least) for talent...
Real agencies are SAG AFTRA! LA casting NY casting! All the ones that know better than that! The only thing u are required to pay for is headshots and for acting classes or workshops! Not to get hired! Now the rest is up to u!- bye!
First of all real agencies don't charge fees upfront!- if they do it is a Scam!- so you are wrong about that! And real talent agents don't charge u to get work!- because they don't get paid until u get paid!- first!- that's how It goes!- so for those who don't want to get scammed by these fake sites for acting try it and if they ask u for any money at all!- RUN! That is a red flag that all they want is your money not your talent! So do your research first before joining any agency to get acting or singing gigs! I don't care how long a so called company has been in Biz! It doesn't matter its still a Scam or bad Biz if they charge u fees before helping u! Don't be fooled!- I know by experience!- so beware! And whoever don't like hearing the truth!- I don't care! Its still true!- peace!
It's standard in the film industry (in Toronto, at least) for talent agencies representing background performers ("extras") to charge a fee to join them/ tobe on their roster, if you are non-union (ie, just starting out or chose not to join ACTRA) or AABP (which is "beginner-ACTRA", the first of three levels of ACTRA membership). If you are an Apprentice or Full Member ACTRA, they don't charge you a sign-up fee.
Sign-up fees (which are charged annually at most background agencies and as a one-time fee with less) range from as little as $50 to no more than $100 ($113, if you factor in HST).
Talent Plus are not scamming anyone, they're a legit Toronto background agency who have been around for years.
