Stamps.com — Stamps.com is a huge scam!
Stamps.com is a Huge Scam. I have filed complaints with the FTC and the USPS and I suggest everyone do the same. It is very simple, simply visit the website of either the USPS or the FTC and do a search for "fraud" or "complaint" and their form will appear. Fill it out and send it off. Here is the text of the complaints I filed with each organization:
"Product Name: Netstamps) Stamps.com was authorized to make monthly subscription fee debits, and purchases of postage from my checking account. On 9/14/06 I requested a purchase of $100 for postage and stamps.com withdrew the funds from my account. The bank has verified that the funds were paid to stamps.com, and this written verification was provided to stamps.com. Nevertheless, this purchase is still listed as "pending" on the my stamps.com account page, and the company refuses to call me or give any explanation or refund. I have provided all information that they requested, including a letter from my bank. Now they state that a credit has been posted to my account yet I have received no credit, none appears on my account and stamps.com refuses to provide any proof of such credit. They claim their software doesn't "allow for auditing of individual credits granted", whatever that means. I have tried to cancel my account and they will not allow it to be done on-line because of "security issues", despite the fact that the account was OPENED on-line, When I call to cancel my account, I am left on hold for more than 1 hour and have given up. I am left with no choice but to pay fees to my credit card company and my bank in order to block any future withdrawals of the money subscription fee which they will not allow me to cancel. These fees are approximately $75.00 They have now stolen almost $200 and about 10 hours of my life. I feel if the USPS is going to allow stamps.com to provide USPS approved postage, then stamps.com should adhere to fair and ethical business practices, same as those practiced by the USPS itself."
Feel free to contact me at [protected]@firstfloorfront.com I have made closing down stamps.com my mission (at least until someone else rips me off!).
