Spirit Airlinesrefund not received, unethical behavior during flight connection and missed connection

G Feb 03, 2020

We had a horrendous experience with Spirit Airlines, on January 27, 2020, returning from Cancun to New York. The Spirit Staff were standing around during our endless 1.5 hour wait in Customs lines at Fort Laurterdale Airport, reassuring us not to worry, that our connecting flight had been informed that we were in the airport, and 'not to worry'. The Spirit staff seeing us and 20 other passengers in customs, refused to help us go ahead in the lines, with our next plane taking off in half hr, telling us repeatedly that the flight would wait for us. We raced through the re-bag check and security, in time for our Luggage to make our connecting flight, but the Spirit Staff at Gate, would not let us on the aircraft, saying we were too late, despite our luggage still getting on in time. We and many other passengers were furious with how Spirit handled our connecting flight and urgency to make it, with two young children with us. They simply said no more flights that day, catch one the next day and promised us a full refund on our return flights. We expect $600 refund for our return flights which they did not let us catch, and the $50 cab fare to hotel, and the $860 for brand new flight tickets for next day, which they promised us we would be reimbursed for.
