Spinnaker Resorts review: Salient facts all need to consider

I am an owner of multiple weeks at Spinnaker Hilton Head for over 29 years. I do NOT work for them and never did. I have had multiple sales people over the years. I return yearly and attend the "update sales pitch" to get my "gift" which used to be a check now its a rebate off of annual dues. Fine. Some sales people were great (and became friends) and some were awful. LIKE ALL BUSINESS there are good bad and ugly. NAME A PROFESSION. DOCTORS LAWYERS ACCOUNTANTS FINANCIAL ADVISORS BANKERS CAR SALES HOME REALTORS ON AND ON. EVERY PROFESSION.

Second, I tell everyone I meet (often in the pool when I hear them complaining) 1. Did you get what you paid for? Yes. 2. Did anyone put a gun to your head to buy it? NO. 3, Did you read (and can reread because you got copies) the CONTRACTS you signed? Often yes but often didnt pay attention. END OF STORY.

Timeshare is not an investment. In fact your own home is not always a good investment if you consider INTEREST CHARGES FOR 30 YEARS and TAXES and INSURANCE AND ALL REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT COSTS AND ALL UTILITIES. DO THE MATH. ITS SHOCKING.

Sales people get paid to sell. YOU DIDNT KNOW THAT? HELLO? Dont want to hear it? DONT GO. PERIOD.

EVERYTIMESHARE COMPANY DOES THIS. HILTON. HYATT. DISNEY. SHERATON WYNDHAM MARRIOTT. They move around as inventory is sold and go where that action is. NO BRAINER. HELLO?
Spinnaker hires a LOT of Marriott sales people. STILL TODAY. FACT.

WE ADORE WHAT WE OWN. UPGRADED. ADDED WEEKS. FIXED WEEKS. NOBODY FORCED US. IN FACT I KNEW THE DEVELOPER BEFORE HE DIED. BRILLIANT MAN. TEETOTALER. NO BOOZE. WHY SPINNAKER DOES NOT SELL BOOZE OR RESTAURANTS ON SITE. HIS DECISION. BYOB ONLY. FAMILY RUN. FAMILY ATMOSPHERE. WELL MAINTAINED AND RESPONSIVE. I once called about a broken coffee pot at 700am. By 715am, DING DONG a NEW COFFEE POT AT MY DOOR. FACT.

Spinnaker is DEEDED. NOT POINTS. A BETTER PARADIGM IN MY OPINION. KIDS WILL INHERIT AND GRANDS AND IN 90 YEARS THE ISLAND MAY NOT BE THERE. GOT IT?

Spinnaker the LOWEST DUES IN INDUSTRY. I CHECKED. AGAIN LAST WEEK. FACT. BY FAR. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

THERE ARE MYRIAD PERKS. OFTEN I ASK PEOPLE IF THEY USED FREE KAYAKS? No. OR FREE GOLF PACKAGE. Often NO. AND UNLIMITED DEVELOPER BONUS WEEKS AT RATES THAT ARE INCREDIBLE. NO ME? ALL OF THE ABOVE YES. YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE. WAKE UP.

We have exchanged and gone to EUROPE TWICE. We have used Interval GETAWAYS. HUGE BARGAINS.
My kids and GRANDS LOVE THE RESORT. ADORE IT. ALWAYS IMPECCABLE.

Sometimes people buy timeshare and dont listen or read or cant afford it. Cant help you. Or they hate the dues but when you ask them about interest, utilities, insurance, repairs and taxes at home they SHRUG? REALLY?

Dont want timeshare? DONT BUY IT. Then go RENT ONE and pay OUTSIDE PRICES. WHICH RISE YEARLY.

We BOUGHT wisely. NO FLIGHTS INVOLVED. A days drive. And bought PLATINUM WEEKS. We paid up, but are happy. NOBODY FORCED US. NOBODY. We have walked away from sales before and taken our gift/check etc. Sometimes we upgraded. OUR CHOICE.

Spinnaker STILL family run. Still well maintained. I checked. A 30 year od property on Hilton Head is STILL IMMACULATE AND UPDATED. I SAW. IN THE UNIT AND ROOMS. VERIFIED.

Wanna move your week? CALL RESERVATIONS. Wanna change resorts internally? Call Reservations. Wanna stay in a HYATT OR HILTON OR MARRIOTT OR SHERATON (LIKE WE HAVE DONE) CALL INTERVAL. HOW HARD IS THIS PEOPLE?

WAKE UP. STOP COMPLAINING.
ENJOY WHAT YOU OWN AND PAY THE DUES AND IF SPINNAKER ITS DEEDED. FIXED COST UNLIKE POINTS SYSTEM. DUES RISE A BIT. BUT SO HAS ALL REAL ESTATE AND ALL CARS AND ALL EXPENSES.

MY RATING? ALMOST A 5. I GOT WHAT I PAID FOR AND GOT GOOD SERVICE FROM RESORT MANAGEMENT. SALES IS A SEPARATE DIVISION BTW.
