I got solar put in at my house on 12/20 but I've been having problems since they did the installation. I've reached out to the company a bunch of times. They fixed some smaller issues, but now I see that the system isn't working like they said it would. The battery dies completely in just an hour, which makes me think there's a problem with the connections. Before, I noticed that they messed up the wiring in the electric panel by mixing up the live and neutral wires. The builders' electricians fixed that. I sent them detailed reports by email showing exactly when the battery was dying in an hour. I had the technician change the discharge time to see if it was a usage problem, but it didn't help. Even with all this, the company hasn't done anything to fix my problem. They haven't sent a good technician to check the wiring and connections.

I bought a solar hot water thingy from Solar Trek in 2014. It cost me $7,000. They said it would give me 70-90% of my hot water needs all year round, and it did make the water about 125 degrees. But dang, that thing was so unreliable! In April , Solar Trek said they wouldn't fix it even though it was still under warranty. They said they were gonna work on a new design and my system would be "unavailable" for a whole year. Finally, in April , they put in the new system. But guess what? It was even worse! The water only gets to about 86 degrees now. They came out a few times to check it, but they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Last time they came in March , Travis (the service guy) said he'd find a solution and let me know. But after that, they stopped answering my emails and calls.

Failur to repair and reinstall hot water system solar panel at no customer charge. In the summer of 2016, Solar Trek removed the hot water system solar panel that I purchased in 2008 and returned it to the manufacturer for repairs under warranty. Several weeks later the manufacturer was unable to find my panel and Solar Trek installed a replacement under the 2008 warranty. This panel started leaking in June and Solar Trek replaced the freeze valve at a cost of $230 to me. New leaks occurred in Dec 2018 and Solar Trek once again removed the panel and sent it back to the manufacturer for repair. After four months and the issuance of a complaint I filed with you (case # [protected]), either the repaired panel or a different panel was finally installed on my roof in April at no cost to me. Since that time, new leaks have been repaired on 9 Jul 2018, 10 Oct 2019, 28 Oct 2019, and 12 Dec 2019. All at no cost to me. In most cases, a faulty vacuum breaker was to blame. The company's maintenance procedures state "Under typical operating conditions it is not necessary to take measures to prevent freezing resulting in damage to the collectors. When conditions are extreme, e.g. multiple days of hard freeze, you should drain the collector to prevent damage and costly repair." Between 2008 and 2016 my original system panel was never drained nor did any freeze damage occur. However, because past complaints by the manufacturer that some past repairs on the replacement panel were due to freeze damage, I took the extra precaution to drain the collector when a potential freeze was projected on 21 January this year. To be sure I got it right, I called Solar Trek and walked thru the procedure with their technician as I was doing it. However, when I turned the system back on the next afternoon, multiple leaks occurred. Solar Trek once again removed the panel and sent it back to their manufacturer who claims that freeze damage had occurred (that does not seem likely since the temperature only went a couple of degrees below freezing for 2-3 hours that night) but that it could be repaired at a cost of $331. My response to Solar Trek was that since they walked me thru the procedure to preclude any freeze damage, then they should be responsible for repair and reinstallation. Not to mention, that under their own maintenance procedures, draining the system should not have even been required in this case. I've had nothing but problems since Solar Trek replaced my original panel in 2016. However, that aside, I expect Solar Trek to install a repaired panel on my roof at no cost to me given their explicit instructions were followed to avoid any freeze damage if that actually occurred. Their manufacturer has used that excuse in the past when I am absolutely positive no freeze conditions existed.
