I recently installed a Brinks Home Security system on March 6, after working with another company for over 10 years. Seeking a lower monthly payment, I was enticed by an agent's verbal promises, including a new panel, a security light, local monitoring, and a $40 monthly fee. However, the technician only updated my old panel and sensors, and added a doorbell. Despite my reservations, I signed the contract. I never received the full contract, only signature pages. An incident with a false alarm and poor response from Brinks' national line left me frustrated. Later, I discovered I was being charged $51.05 monthly, barely less than before, without the promised upgrades. Upon returning from a trip, I switched back to the previous company, who offered a better rate and revealed that my detectors had been nonfunctional. I attempted to cancel with Brinks but faced a hefty early cancellation fee, which I was previously unaware of due to not receiving the full contract. After a difficult call with Brinks' customer service, I decided to write a complaint to warn others, especially seniors, about my negative experience.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
