We visited Six Flags Over Texas during spring break and were prepared for crowds and long lines. We were not prepared to be there 9 hours and ride one ride. I’ll get to that, first, I have season tickets. In years past we have brought friends and received discounts on their tickets. The “discount” I received to bring my kids friends was $10 more per ticket than it would have been if I just purchased online.
Second, Most, if not all, of the popular rides were running a single train car which doubles the wait times. I do not understand why there was no foresight to a busy spring break week, ensuring multiple trains were running. On more than one occasion, we waited in line only to have the ride shut down for one reason or another. I understand that things happen, but offering flash passes would be nice when your guests have waited in long lines for a ride only to have to leave that queue and go stand in a different one. The final ride of our day boasted a 2 hour wait….the estimated time was wrong by half. Four hours in any line is in and of itself ridiculous. My kid went through the water he had and half of mine, there were no fans running in the area of the queue that is sheltered from fresh air, my kid ended up dehydrated and overheated and too sick to ride what we had just waited 4 hours to ride. There are inherent liabilities that we as guests take on when we come to the parks, but the money we spend in your parks these days far outweighs the service we are provided.
Claimed loss: A wasted day and $40 ($10 for each over priced “discounted” ticket plus taxes and fees.
Desired outcome: The modest refund as described and quite honestly, I’d appreciate some flash passes for a future visit. One ride in 9 hours is hardly a fun day, especially for a 10 year old who was eagerly looking forward to the day.
