My son was having knee surgery when we went to the surgery suite to check in we were met with a rude and abrasive secretary Reggie who demanded we pay him half of my deductible or my son wasn't having surgery. I then told him that I had been applying for financial assistance and was told not to pay anything up front so they could get the final bills to see how much assistance I could get. He did not like this answer and still demanded payment. I had to call for a supervisor. I met with Gilda the supervisor and my son was able to have his surgery. My son then had surgery and was in recovery and we were told one of our family members could go see him which we sent our 25 year old son. down. We were told myself and my husband would be called when we could go see him. The next thing we know my 25 year old son is wheeling my 17 year old son to the car and was given the discharge info. We did not get to speak to the doctors APRN like we were told and no one even discussed anything with us before discharging him. My son is a minor he should have never been discharged to anyone but his parents. He came out crying in pain. We asked the employee who wheeled him out why we weren't spoken to before this whole fiasco. My son was still very loopy on the anesthesia crying he was in pain, we were told he was asked his pain level and he stated a 4, there is no way his pain was a 4 or anyone even asked him. I was told by Gilda after I called very angry and upset about my son's treatment and the nurse who discharged him it happen to be her last day her name was Fatima. I am assuming she was rushing to leave and my son paid for it. I have had several calls with Gilda and was told she would get back to me again and it has been weeks now. I want to know what is going to be done about this.
