All card transactions are verified through the bank screening services and we rely on them to validate card authenticity. If you are unsure of the reason why we appear on your credit card statement go to this website www.gpl-cc.com, it will explain who we are, why you have been billed and what you should do about it if you think you have been the genuine victim of card fraud. It also has copies of our Terms and Conditions for you to read. When you subscribe to one of our sites, you are informed that it is a repeat billing subscription which can be cancelled at any time by following the instructions on the website.
To Emma (emh85): In order to subscribe and for us to deduct any payments from your grandmother's card she would have had to select the upgrade option and then enter all her credit or debit card details and possibly her 3DSecure bank authorisation details before her bank would allows us to draw funds. Any refunds we authorise would take between 3 to 5 working days to arrive depending on your bank, so 'a week later' may not have been enough time.
To 'Unauthorisedrefunds': This practice would be impossible for us to do because the card handling authorities would not allow us the means to do so, however you may have been the victim of genuine card fraud. We cannot report that to the issuing bank only the card holder can. By telling you to report this to the bank we are not only following the correct banking instructions on your behalf, but we are also following the correct banking instructions for avoiding you being accused of money laundering. Once reported to the bank they will investigate how the fraud has occurred, prevent your card from being re-used in this way and if upheld would refund the payments. We fully co-operate with the banks in identifying card fraud as it ultimately hurts us too. I'm sorry that you have expressed your opinion this way but obviously no company could get banking or credit card handling facilities if this was really the way they operated.

To Peter Bowers/Cherri/PepXlee: Please see www.gpl-cc.com as advised above.
To A Watco: We have a team of dedicated moderators who ensure that all the content on the sites are appropriate and they also patrol the site looking for non-genuine members. Despite this very occasionally one will slip through and we rely on members to notify us if they are getting messages from people who they feel are not genuine.
To Rawoke: Of course it's not a scam and I'm sorry you feel that way, if you are registered on one of our South African sites however you do not need to call, you can cancel this yourself on the website by following the instructions there.
To Jax1076: We're sorry if you were held waiting for so long in our call queue, we do have occasions when our call queue gets busy but a wait of so long is very unusual.
To Unauthorisedfunds: I have answered your query on your other complaint entry.
To A T: It sounds like you subscribed using one of our offers which then re-bills at the full amount on renewal which we make clear at the time of subscription. As you are using one of our Australian sites you can cancel using the online facilities but any other contact should be done using our published email address. Our company policy is to respond to all emails within 48 hours or quicker. I'm not sure what you mean by being 'caught out' when you freely admit to subscribing? We make no secret of how our service or billing services work, they are clearly written out in our terms and conditions. and were confirmed by email when you subscribed.

Of course it's not a scam and the cam girls/escorts/pros that you describe are a blight on all online businesses. We however employ a large team of people who patrol our sites to keep them off but very occasionally one will slip through. We get about 99.8% of them off site within 1 minute but sometimes that take a little longer to sport or be reported. We don't monitor users approaching the end of their subscription, there are far too many members on the site to have time to do that and as for employing ringers, we leave that to some of our less scrupulous competitors.
Of course there is no fraudulent activity on our part, we would not be allowed to trade if there was. Our refund policy is dictated by law, if you received one it was because you would have been entitled to one, and if you didn't it was because you were not. It really is that simple. Throwaway _username, your complaint was dealt with in good faith and so to call it a scam is a little disingenuous

Our cancellation instructions are clearly available on all our websites. Opening and sending emails are the privilege of subscribed membership, so in doing so you are using the service and we are therefore legally entitled to payment for such use. We clearly state that in our terms and conditions which may be found here: www.gpl-cc.com

Further to the response by the 'Forget Dinner' team, may I respond to the subsequent posts:
To Graxol: It is impossible to know why you got no response from over 100 messages, but in our experience it is the choice of the receiver on whether to reply or not. There are many reasons why female members do not reply, but it may simply be that you were not their type or had given them insufficient information consider you.
To the gibbet: You cannot confirm that forget dinner is a theft site, partly because it isn't and partly because that is your opinion not fact. If you call our cancellation line during the hours prescribed you will indeed speak with one of our team of agents who will duly cancel your account. We would not refuse to cancel your account so closing your bank account was completely unnecessary.
To nickilou: Some members have their messages checked at random as a security precaution which may delay them being sent, but otherwise all member to member messages go through immediately. There are factors outside of our control depending on your physical location, the speed of your connection, your internet provider and your email provider.
To eddieSexton: Of course it isn't a scam site. We do not create fake emails or winks, there are far too many genuine members for us to need to resort to this practice. The seven day cooling off period you are referring to comes from the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations of 2000 (amended in 2005) which is not just company policy but UK law. We do not have the luxury of 'interpreting' the law, we simply have to comply with it. Our business model does indeed encourage you to pay (most successful business try and get paid for their goods or services), as a paying member you will enjoy more privileges than basic members, like the ability to send and read messages from other members. We do not count the reading of confirmation messages as use of the site, we only count inter-member messages. Cancelling simply entails calling a freephone service during the weekday office hours and asking to be cancelled, but we only issue refunds when you are entitled to receive one.

To Pamela: I'm sorry that your experience on the site gives you cause for complaint, but may I respond to some of the issues you raise:
There is no reason why we would be investigated for fraud, nor would it be of concern if it were true, all 7500 of our world-wide sites are completely genuine. We also have a team moderators whose job is check all submissions for appropriate content and also to remove any non-genuine profiles. So rather than creating fake profiles as you imply we actually employ people to remove them. We have no such rules for mailing, and we don't employ banks of women to chat to members, there are actually banks of genuine members out there happily using our services. As for 'pooling' our common members, yes that is the appeal of the service that we use as it gives the largest option of choices to members who are joining to look for a partner.
I trust that answers your issues, but you are welcome to contact us on this email address

Scammers are the scourge of the internet and we have a dedicated team of agents working 24/7 to track and eliminate them. We also have a feature on the site where you can report members who you think are scammers and we encourage you to do so. Not only will we investigate your claim but we will also pass their details on to the relevant crime agencies. If you have proof that this member was a scammer we will be more than happy to remove that member and pass that proof on to police.
You can contact us to investigate and remove this member if they are a scammer at support@globalpersonals.co.uk. State your member id and their identity, better still use the 'report this profile' feature on the site.
RBfrustrated: In the UK there is a freephone service, simply call the number displayed on the website and the team there will cancel your subscription for you. Non-UK members may use the online cancellation service displayed on the site. Support@globalpersonals.co.uk
RBfrustrated: If you are based in the UK, call [protected] during normal office hours and speak to one of our advisers. If you call from a UK landline there is no charge. If you explain your predicament to them, they will help you. You will need your membership ID or the email address that you used to subscribe. If you do not know these, it may be possible to trace you through your payment which will need the last four digits of your card, the payment amount and the approximate date of the transaction, but this may take a little longer to find. support@globalpersonals.co.uk
dhlamini: If you are based in the UK, call [protected] and one of our agents will cancel your account for you. This is a freephone service in the UK only. Non-UK members have a facility on the website to do this. support@globalpersonals.co.uk
Huskies56: If you have been the victim of card fraud we suggest you immediately contact your bank who with our help will investigate the transaction. When a card fraud like this happens we are as much a victim as you are so we will assist with any prosecution that is brought. Information on how to identify our transactions, what they are for and how to deal with card fraud can be found here: www.gpl-cc.com. support@globalpersonals.co.uk
Gustabofrog: Unfortunately when we tried to contact you, your email address is false. We do not guarantee success and you should be aware that we have a team of agents who's job is to vet profiles and try and determine whether they are genuine or not. It is not a science, but an art so we don't always get it right. However, this service is not provided by free sites. All messages are sent from end users and if you believe they are fake there is a feature for reporting them on each profile page. We only send messages that have been user generated or are to notify you of new or interesting members, which is hopefully why you joined the site. But you can unsubscribe from these at any time by going to the 'My Account' section on the site, or simply clicking on the 'unsubscribe' link in the email. We make it absolutely clear that you are signing up for a repeat subscription, and will continue to bill until you ask us to stop. That is the nature of subscriptions, whether it be dating, magazines or the gym. The support team are indeed people, but we do operate a simple refund policy which is regulated by UK law. If you do not meet the criteria as laid down by those regulations, or our company policies which are more generous than the law, you will not be entitled to a refund and we will explain so. support@globalpersonals.co.uk
margaret corcoran: I'm not quite sure what you mean, but we cannot take money from your card with your permission. Contact us through our UK freephone service on [protected] and explain your situation to them and they will help you. Otherwise email us supplying your membership ID or the email address that you used to subscribe. support@globalpersonals.co.uk
Sandy Wood: If you wish to cancel simply follow the instructions that are posted on the website: If you are in the UK call [protected] and an agent will cancel your subscription for you. Simply have your membership ID or the email address you used to subscribe. If you are not in the UK, simply use the online cancellation service. We only send genuine success stories as we have to prove these exist to the Advertising Standards Agency. We receive several hundred of these a week. We do not knowingly send out any fake profiles as they are all generated by members and these are all vetted by a team of moderators. We cannot guarantee that the details that members create in the profiles are valid, but we do try and remove any that we believe are not or that have been reported to us as fake. There are many reasons why you may not get replies but only the recipients of your emails can answer that. It may be that you are not the person they are looking for or that your message does not attract their attention. If there is anything else we can help with contact us here: support@globalpersonals.co.uk
Dear Hayley, If you would like to contact us on priority@globalpersonals.co.uk quoting CB718748 we will tell you how you can help us identify this transaction, take the necessary action if it is card fraud and resolve any payment issues for you.
